Trouble updating in app store. wrong apple id.

i am signed in with my apple id. when i try to update in the app store a different apple id (from the previous owner) is coming up. how do i remove the wrong apple id?

I have two AppleIDs, and also find this happening.
There is nothing much you can do.
When you download an app it is "registered" to the apple ID that downloaded it.
So if you update it you must do it with the AppleID that bought it.
There is no workaround, as it is coded into the app when you download it.
So you can either re-download the apps (and sadly sometimes re-buy) with the new ID.
Or just type in the password from the old ID when you update (which is what I do).
You can go to settings... Store.. scroll down and press the apple ID
log out and log in to the new account.
When you buy or download NEW apps they will be for the ID that you are logged in to.
When you update on the iPhone, it will just ask for the password of the other account.

  • Trouble updating through app store

Hi I am having trouble updating through the app store. When it cones to the apple Id screen to type in the password it has an apple id of [email protected] and I cannot figure out how to change it. Any ideas?
    thanks

Go to your computer and fire up iTunes. No need to connect the iPad. Depending on which app needs updating AND which Apple ID is in use, you might see the following:
Click on the App tab on the left and then look at the bottom right of the screen. A number near the "Check for Updates" text means that updates are needed. If you then click on the text and get a message that there are no updates, you're using the "wrong" Apple ID for those apps.
IF that happens, click on the "iTunes Store" on the left pane and then look at the upper right corner for the Apple ID. Click on the Apple ID and change it to the other one (I hope that you know the PW). Then go back to the App tab and do the update. The next time that you sync, the iPad will be updated.
There will be more investigation to completely solve the issue but at least now you'll have a clue regarding some of the apps that are tied to the other ID.

  • When I try to update my apps the wrong apple ID shows up how do I change it

I am trying to update my apps and the wrong apple ID username comes up for a password . How do I change it to be mine?

Go into the Settings app and select Store. The account displayed should be the one you are being prompted to supply the password for. You can press that button and it should give you the option to sign out of that account. Once you do that you will be able sign in with another account or create a new one. As noted by the previous poster, changing accounts will not change the ownership of the apps already purchased.

  • When i try to update my apps the wrong apple id name comes up

I just had to restore my iPhone and when I unplugged it I went to update all my apps and the apple ID was my husbnads and not mine so I can't update any apps.  I looked at my account and all my info is correct.  How would my husbands apple ID even be in my phone?  We use the same computer to sync our phones but I have my own user account on the computer.  Never had ths problem before.  Anyone?

Can I go to app store, delete apps then add them again with new primary appid? I have only purchased 2 or 3 apps but, one is a movie. Will I have to buy that again or, should I just watch it first?

Hi Tim, your problem sounds a bit different, if you're not getting the wrong Apple ID thing, it may get more help to post a new query of your own.

  • How do I remove a secondary apple id from my Mac? I am being prompted for a apple id password for a former user; I do not have the information.  Prevents updates from App Store.

How do I remove a secondary Apple ID that is not in use from my MacBook pro? The ID does not belong to me and when I attempt to download updates from App Store with my Apple ID, I am prompted for the password of the secondary Apple ID.

Is this a second hand Mac? If so, you need to erase the Mac and install the version of OS X that shipped installed on the Mac from the factory. Then you set the Mac up as new with your Apple ID.
User Linc Davis explains how a new owner can prepare a 2nd hand Mac for their own use.

  • App store update shows I can't update an app since my Apple ID is not associated with my account on Yosemite

App store update shows I can't update an app since my Apple ID is not associated with my account on Yosemite. How can I just force it to allow me to RE-BUY the app again since I don't even have it to update, but I want it?
Currently, I even though I don't have the app, I am not given the option to buy, only to "update", and when I click on that it either hangs or it complains that it can't since my Apple ID is not associated with my account.

And it was your wife's Apple ID that was used to download and install the Yosemite you are using on this computer? If so then I suggest you need to contact Apple to get his straightened out.

You need to delete them and then download them from the correct Apple ID. This may require repurchasing paid applications.

  • When is apple going to update the App Store so it works with ios6......??

When is apple going to update the App Store so it works with ios6......?? Yes I am joking I know it's been updated I'm just so fed up with it not working and apples lack of help. So to my point my app store will not load anything at all just stays blank and if I'm lucky it even crashes for me and every now and then it installs 2 or 3 of the same app with out warning it's installed a game 3 times that takes 1gb each time. Idk if anyone can help cool if not I'm going to get a ice-cream sandwich.

What kind of network connection are you using? Is it cellular data or WiFi? If WiFi, is it your own?  I have seen some business WiFi configuration that block network access to some sites. This can confuse the apps.
I would also try one of the other apps, like iBooks, that uses the store. That would help isolate the problem.

  • Changing apple ID to update from Apps Store.

Trying to update my apps from App Store.  When asked to sign in, another  apple ID comes up (ID belongs to a person who borrowed my Mac).  It is greyed out and will not let me change it.  How do I change it?

The app that this person's Apple ID appears for is their app. You cannot update their app with your Apple ID. Having their app on your Mac is software piracy. Delete the app and buy it with your own Apple ID.

  • Apple ID problems when updating in App Store

    Hi
I have recently changed my email address.
I canged my details  in Setttings,  iTunes and App Stores, Account, Apple ID Summary and I have verified verified my new email address.
My old email address has been removed from my account
However when I try to update in the App store the defaultID is my previous email. It also doesnt recognise the password I used to have for that email/ID.  SO Im unable to update any apps.
    Any suggestions?

If this is on an iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch then try logging out of your account on it by tapping on the id in Settings > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores on iOS 6) and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' the account on it.
