Help I am having trouble updating our Ipod's & Iphone.  I have followed the troubleshooting on Itunes error page, but still not working.
I don't have an error number just this message -  "There was a problem downloading the software for the iphone "A's iphone" the network connection was reset.
Itunes downloads the update, but at the end gives the error message. I have the latest itunes installed and Microsoft is up to date, nothing else connected via  usb. This happens with our ipods as well. Thankyou

  • Troubles updating ipod, cannot disconnect, songs erased (tried the 5 Rs)

    hey guys,
i'm sorry to ask for help with my first post but i've been having some issues with my 2nd gen iPod nano lately. when i connect my iPod to my computer, i get a message in iTunes saying "Songs on the iPod "Han's iPod" cannot be updated because all of the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist". in between the last update i deleted a few playlists, added a few more songs and deleted some songs. i then went to eject my iPod but i get the message "The iPod "Han's iPod" cannot be ejected because it contains files that are in use by another application", when i get this message, the space in iTunes where it displays what you are playing shows "Updating iPod. Do not disconnect.". after trying and failing to find a way to eject it, i just stopped the usb device and unplugged my iPod. then when i tried to use my iPod, i found that everything on it had been wiped and there was nothing on my iPod anymore. so i went to the apple website and tried all five Rs but none of them worked. could someone here please help me with my problem? i'm currently running iTunes 7.0.2 which i believe is the latest version. i'm currently using windows 2000 and it automatically updates every week so i assume i have the latest service pack.
    thanks

been away last few days, still need help.
    bump bump.
    thanks.

  • Trouble Updating iPod, Please Help

Every time I try to update my iPod (nano), I get the message:
"Songs on the iPod "Owners iPod" cannot be updated because all of the playlists selecting for updating no longer exist."
Does anyone know what this means? I've tried to reinstall iTunes, and pretty much any thing else the website reccomends. If you know what to do, I'd really apperciate your help. Just as a note (not sure if it matters) all my generic playlists, like Top 25 Most Played or Top 25 Rated were erased. Also, I have no songs under the "Owners iPod" list anymore. All my songs are listed only under "Library". I tried to transfer the songs to the "Owners iPod" list, but it wouldn't let me.
    Thanks

  • Trouble Updating iPod on Home Computer Only

Here is my situation. I just received my replacement iPod and when I got home I hooked it up to my computer and things seemed to be going just fine. It asked for me to set it up and name it etc. I started dragging songs onto it (about 400). When it got to about 200 the window popped up again asking me to set it up, name it etc. I click cancel and the songs were not longer downloading, but it was still connected and seemed to be working fine. Then I tried dragging songs onto it again and the window popped up again asking me to set it up. I clicked cancel and the iPod reset itself and started up in Disk Mode, just awesome. This is the problem I had with the first one. Then when I go to update it using version 10-12-2005 or the 11-17-2005 updater I get a variety of errors, "Can't mount iPod", "Firmware update error", "The attached iPod not supported...etc", and a few others I can't recall. I have tried both the software from the cd and the software from the website both with the same results. I even read that changing the drive letter in Disk Manager could work so I changed it to M:\. So after all this I started to think that maybe its the computer. I just wiped the hard drive two weeks ago and I only have XP Pro and Service Pack 2 install with maybe 3 other programs. When I brought the iPod to work and ran the updater it worked fine with no issues and interfaced with iTunes with no problems either. Am I missing something or are there some steps that I can try? I know it's not the iPod now but something with my computers setup at home is making it wacky. I'm scared to plug in the iPod when I get home for fear it will crash again. Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Trouble updating ipod software

Yesterday I hooked my Ipod up to my computer (IBM Thinkpad running Windows XP Pro on a Centrino processor) it asked me to update my Ipod software. After it was complete it started showing a weird icon which i couldnt find in the ipod iconology in support. It looks like the cable that connects to the base of the ipod with an arrow pointing to the ipod. I plugged it into the power source, to the computer, tried resetting the ipod and that icon still appears. Help would be much appreciated... thank you

For iOS 4.2 you need to update the OS on your computer to 10.5.8. If you call the Apple store they will sell you copy for $129. It is not listed in their on-line store. Besides the OS, you may want to et more memory too since 10,5.x needs more than 10.4.x.

  • Need to selectively update Ipod - help

I'm trying to add new songs to my Ipod without deleting my old ones. I lost many of the originals when I reformatted my hard drive, so I don't want to replace the entire library on my Ipod with the Itunes library that's currently on my mac, but would like to be able to add some new songs.
    Can anyone help?

How you delete songs depends on how you are syncing them to the nano. To check this, connect the iPod, go to preferences, go to the iPod tab and check which sync option is selected.
    Manual Sync
To delete songs in manual sync is easy. Connect the ipod, wait for it to show in iTunes source list. Click the iPod in the source list, find the songs you wish to delete, hightlight them, right click them and go to clear, or highlight and hit the delete key on the keyboard.
    Automatic Sync (all)
This is slightly more complicated. The easiest way is to connect the iPod, go to Preferences, iPod tab, and select "Upload checked songs only". Disconnect the iPod and go through the library in iTunes, unchecking the little boxes of songs that you do not wish to sync to the iPod. Then, reconnect the iPod and it wil only sync the checked songs. To add/delete at a later date, simply check/uncheck the songs.
Alternatively you can delete the songs from you iTunes library/computer by highlighting them in the iTunes library, right clicking, and going to clear. However, this method can be a bit risky as you then have no backup if something should go wrong on the iPod.
    Automatic Sync (playlists)
To delete songs when set to automatically update selected songs and playlists, remove the songs from the playlist (highlight the playlist in iTunes, highlight the songs and go to clear or hit delete.) This does not delete the songs from your library as a whole, only from the playlists. Update the iPod and the cleared songs will be removed.
Add new songs to the playlist and update to get them back on the iPod.
    Hope this helps

  • Trouble updating ipod

My ipod will not update any new songs from itunes, manually or automatically. The problem started recently after the apple store retored it due to a battery issue...(which still exists).
I plugged it back into the computer, and it downloaded all of the songs, even those unchecked, now, I can't get any songs on or off. I've been through several posts w/ similar topics, and I've done all the obvious. Please let me know if there is something I'm missing.

  • Getting trouble updating - please help!

    Hi
The update server is not responding. The server might be offline temporarily, or the internet or firewall settings may be incorrect.
The message above appears each time I try to update from the Creative Cloud panel. It starts to update and then fails.
From the Adobe Application Manager I ticked just one update - and that one worked. I can't get the Adobe Application Manager to come back up - how do I open it so that I can tick another individual update?
I've wasted a whole morning trying to fix this... not happy. The whole point of being part of the cloud was to get updated without hassle, this is ridiculous. I've noticed, from reading forums on the web, that loads of people are having the same problem. Please help me to make this update thingy run smoothly.
    Petra

Just found out you can open the Adobe Application Manager from PS CC prog - just click: help /updates from the top menu. It seems I have to install one update at a time - from the Adobe Application Manager - BUT importantly, first quitting the Creative Cloud panel- as they seem to conflict. Sorry for the tone of the comment above - I didn't realise I was on a community forum, I thought I was asking Adobe directly.

  • Trouble updating iPod touch to new version of software

I have an iPod touch model MB533LL running on version 2.2.1 software.  I tried to update to version 4.2 but it gets hung up every time and wont complete the update.  My husband is on version 3.1.2 and the same thing happens to him.  Why? I heard apple iTouches don't like to update to new software versions very easily especially if you are more than one version behind.  I don't even know if I can locate an older version of the software ion the internet to update even partially.  Problem is just about 100% of aps are not available because my software version is so old.  I have  lik 30 GB of memory unused so that's not the issue.  Any ideas?  Could the fact we share the same lap top for our itunes while having different versions of the software be causing the problem?

  • Trouble Updating iPod w/ New iTunes

I downloaded the newest version of iTunes yesterday. Now I cannot sync my ipod. When I try, it gets about 3/4 through, then freezes. I have to do alt/ctrl/del and end the program. I tried completely unistalling and then reinstalling iTunes. It did not work.
I have the ipod 30gb w/ docking station (the one with the row of four buttons below the screen). Running Win XP.
My Shuffle and mini still sync just fine, which leads me to believe the problem is with by ipod.
