Trouble updating my iMac operating system (os x)....

I purchased this iMac for my wife in 2006 and she uses the computer mainly for checking emails
(I know...what a waste). Anyway, I recently purchased a iPod Touch and a Magic Trackpad for this
iMac, but I keep getting a error message saying that I need to update my OS to 10.6.3 (not sure about
the .3 part) or Mac os 10.5. Here's is where I think the problem lies, neither my wife or I can recall
our password in order to update the os. In the past, my wife would just "x" out of the pop up window
indicating we needed to update to 10.5 or whatever, since she couldn't recall the password. Does anyone have any suggestions of how I can get this password resent to me?? I have tried about everything I know to do to get the update (which isn't a whole lot), but I am making zero progress and I have become extremely frustrated. I would love some good advice right about now. Thank you

I believe you can use the Snow Leopard install disc too.

But based on past experience it has been known for free upgrades to be offered ... but not before the new OS is formally announced. There have been several references of late to the imminent launch of Mavericks. I think you can do no more than wait for the announcement.

Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

AppleWorks has never been available for legal download.
Have you done the usual trouble shooting steps:
Quit AppleWorks
Delete most or all of the Recent Items list.
Remove the Preferences files to the Desktop or to the Trash.
Launch AppleWorks to see if the problems remain.
You'll find Recent Items in:
username > Documents > AppleWorks User Documents > Starting Points > Recent Items
There are several preferences files.
Go to:
username > Library > Preferences
Locate, select and delete the file com.apple.appleworks.plist
Still in the Preferences floder, locate and open the folder AppleWorks.
Select and delete the two Cache files and the Preferences file.
Button Bars is also a preferences file, but may be left where it is IF you have no problems that appear related to the Button Bar, and wish to preserve any changes you've made to the Button Bar.

I would put the ipad in recovery mode and redo the update, once that is done you could restore the ipad from your backup and you would not lose any data.

The Flash Disk must be NTSF formatted. Writing to NTFS requires 3rd party drivers (Tuxera, Paragon). Reading from NTFS however does not require these. So install NTFS drivers, or format the drive in FAT32 from Disk Utility.

The normal suggestions.
Close the app,off fully. Double tap the home screen then touch and hold any of the icons on the task bar until they jiggle, then close them all off by touching the - sign.
Then reboot the pad and try the spp again. If same issue, delete the app, then reload it. ( no charge). You may just have a bad copy. If continues, write to the developer, they may need to do an update. I have an older version of the same app and it works fine.
Since yours is the ad supported version, they are maing real sure you see the ad. Is it as simple as you need to click thru the ad to get to the game?

I just updated my MAC operating system and when I went to open a recent document in numbers, the document that opened had none of my data and was formatted differently. Can I get my document with all my information back?

1) quite Numbers and restart Numbers
2) reboot the computer
After that try opening the same document in another user space

IDVD is a wonderful piece of software and well worth the low cost of $40.
