Trouble Upgrading--Photo Not Found Alert

A year or two ago, I let my brother use IPhoto on my Mac for a summer job that he had, which required him to make a lot of photo slideshows.  Sometime after he was done with his job, I deleted all of his photos out of my Iphoto library.  I tried to delete all his slideshows as well, but I eventually gave up, because any time I tried to even ctrl+click the slideshow to delete, IPhoto would begin to look for all of the photos in the slideshow.  When the program did that, I begin to receive an error message that said "The photo suchandsuchphoto.jpg could not be opened because the original file could not be found."  Then I have the choice to either select "cancel" or "find photo."  The problem with this error message, is that there is no "apply to all" option, which meant that I had to dismiss the message for every single photo in the slideshow before I could do anything else.
In of itself, this was just a slight annoyance, but heres the big problem.  I'm now trying to upgrade to IPhoto 11. While upgrading my photo library, IPhoto has started to look for ALL of these photos.  Now in order to complete the installation process, I'm receiving the same photo not found alert.  So I am having to individually clear  every single one of these messages to finish the installation process.  There are probably thousands of these photos, so it will likely take hours for me to clear every single message one by one.
Is there any sort of work around, or something I could do to avoid having to clear all these messages without losing my entire library?

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Why am I getting File not Found alert when I type into my browser?

Why do I keep getting a File not Found alert when I type into my browser?
I have been using firefox for about 4 yrs now with very few problems. The problem I am having is that when ever I go to type in anything into my browser I keep receiving this message:
(Scroll down to see the rest)
    File not found
Firefox can't find the file at jar:file:///C:/Program Files (x86)/Mozilla Firefox/omni.jar!/chrome/en-US/locale/browser-region/region.propertieschronic+fatigue+syndrome.
I recently installed Firefox 5.0 and this keeps happening. It happened with the 4.0 version a couple of days ago but mostly it is the 5.0 version that I am having problems with. When ever I want to do a search I have to manually type in google.com. Is there a solution to fix this?

The NuGet is a dll that was built with 4.0.0.0.  The easiest thing to fix problem is target you VS project to use Net 4.0.  You could get a new version of NuGet, but if you do make sure you rebuild your entire project.  The dependencies in
the VS compiler doesn't always recognize updated libraries.  So I normally rename the bin folder in the project and then delete the bin folder.  VS will create a new bin folder and then rebuild all the source files.  If your project contains
multiple projects then remember to delete the bin from all projects.

An account specified in the Run As profile "Microsoft.SQLServer.SQLDefaultAccount" cannot be resolved.
Okay, I am fine, I  verify the RunAs account configuration and yes this is the problem... I was able to solve it for those SQL running servicec account using domain user account, I created the run as account, and assoistte it with SQL profiles,
    and it is fine....
BUT, what about my 8 SQL Servers running SQL Service Account under System and Network accounts,
so how Can I add this coz I cannot target all objects,so what shall I target (Object Health Service or WHAT)?
Please I need it step by step coz I am not able to handle this issue....
    Thank you Guys

    Hi,
If you have not distributed the Run As Account to a system, but we discovered SQL on it, you will see the error message.
This condition may have occurred because the account is not configured to be distributed to this computer. To resolve this problem, please distribute the account to this computer if appropriate. You can refer to the following blog to distribute the Run As

  • Photo not found when publishing to .Mac

Hi, I imported some photos from an external drive into iPhoto. Then I disconnected the external drive. Later when I tried to publish the newly imported photos to the .Mac gallery, I received an error that says the photos are not found and asks if I want to find the photo manually.
Does this mean that when I import photos, there is still a link back to the original location of the imported photos? Does that I mean I should copy of the originals into the local hardisk before I import them?
    Cheers,
    Thomas

I would have the ColorSync option checked.
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

  • New mac user - iphoto trouble - original doc not found

    hey all,
i just got my first macbook a few days ago. things are going pretty good except for an iphoto error.
when i try to import my library i get an error to the effect of "can not upload original doc not found"....it wants me to find the picture, which i can, and click it, which then will import it....this works but i would have to do this 2,000 times to import my whole library
i should note i do not want to copy the photos in iphoto....i just want it to point to my originals...
also i did succesfully upload them all once....but then i wiped them out....so this is my second time...it worked the first time....
    ???????

When you run a referenced library iPhoto will not copy the files, but rather simply reference them on your HD. It will create an alias to the Original file, a thumbnail and, if you modify the pics, a Modified version.
What's happened here is that the alias has lost contact with it's Linked File. Have you made any changes to the path the that file? Renamed or moved a folder?
Frankly, unless you are using wo different photo managers, I strongly recommend against running a referenced library - even more so for an inexperienced Mac user.
    1. Import and deleting pics are more complex procedures
    2. You cannot move or rename the files on your system or iPhoto will lose track of them
    3. Most importantly, migrating to a new disk or computer can be much more complex.
Always allowing for personal preference, I've yet to see a good reason to run iPhoto in referenced mode unless you're using two photo organisers.
If disk space is an issue, you can run an entire iPhoto Library from an external disk:
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library as an entity from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
If you're concerned about finding the files: There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
For 10.5 users: You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Apple-Click for selecting multiple pics.
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. If you're using Gmail you can use THIS
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
Or, if you want to access the files with iPhoto not running, then create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use THIS
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
Your choice, obviously, but best to be aware of the pitfalls.

Hi Manish , thanks for the reply
So I switched back to 8.6.2SU2 and then re ran the Upgrade.Switched back to 10.5 and waited. It took about 30 mins but eventually everything came up.Rebooted again to check , and it came up much quicker so that seems to be the way it is.
"Did you take a backup of the newly upgraded 10.5 and then edit its hardware settings followed by a restore?"
Glad you bought this up as I understand that the reason behind this is to align the partitions.I checked my 8.6.2 before istarted the upgraded, using the TAC approved method which said they were aligned
After the upgrade 10.5 reported the partitions aligned. The OVA readme talks about changing the OS NIC etc , which I did .Are there other reasons why I would now need to do a back and restore ? if my partitions are aligned?

  • After kernel upgrade "file not found"

I upgraded to kernel version 3 and I rebooted but I didn't do anything in menu.lst, because I thought symlinks would work, so I rebooted but it didn't work. I tried to boot changing names in grub menu but I'm always getting same error "file not found" and I don't know what else to do. I can see the vmlinuz-linux but I can't see initramfs-linux file in /boot from a Live CD. Can you share your menu.lst to try them please.

After putting back the kernel and ramdisk from a backup (using different filenames) and downgrading the kernel (mkinitcpio doesn't work, that's why I had to take the ramdisk from a backup), I was able to get back into my system.
I found a mkinitcpio.conf.pacnew, but no significant changes in there. Applied them anyway.

@tbuitenh: I encountered this same situation today when I tried to update linux-ck-corei7 from 3.0.4-1 to 3.0.4-2. Like you, running pacman after "su -" (instead of "su") permitted me to complete the update.
I figure this has to do with default login path, right? What exactly is going on here, and how can I fix it? I don't normally run pacman this way.

  • Terminal troubles. Command not found error in the directory of the command.

I'm getting a "command not found" error when I am in the directory of the command I want to run. For example try to run 'mysql' in the directory with that executable file and I get the error. BUT, if I put the full path to the mysql command, starting from the root, the command works correctly.
I know this isn't a PATH issue, since I'm in the location of the file.
It seems like a possible permissions issue, but I appear to have the proper permissions to the command and all parent directories. Moreover, I would assume that I would see a "permissions denied" error rather than a "command not found" error if this was the case.
Beyond the two possibilities above, I'm stumped as to what the issue could be. To be clear, this is happening on more than one command, although both commands are within the /usr/local/ directory.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks in advance!

By default . is not included in your PATH and the shell does not do this on its own, as that is an easy way for someone to get a user to execute a Trojan.
For example, in a multi-user system you create a script 'ls' and put it in a directory with a bunch of other stuff. Then go over to a user on the same system and ask them to help you with something in this directory. The first thing they will do is issue the 'ls' command, which if you have . in your PATH, or the shell always looks in the current working directory, means this user would execute the Trojan script instead of the real 'ls' command. That script do do anything using the privileges of the user running that script, including modifying stuff in their home directory that could give the person asking for help future access to that user's files and data.
That is why . (the current working directory) is NOT part of PATH by default and shells do not look in the current working directory by default.

  • Trouble upgrading photos

Just installed iPhoto and when opening for the first time it says it needs to upgrade all photos, when I start the process it runs for a while then stops responding and I have to Force Quit. I've downloaded all updates, rstarted the computer, don't know what else to try - help please!

    Sweetsu:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions I'm responding to your comment of having 8 GB free space. I don't think that is directly associated with your problem but wanted to point out that it's generally recommended that one have a minimum of 15% free space on the boot drive. Keeping it at that level or more will provide optimum performance for both system and applications.
If you use iDVD and burn projects lots of free space is very important, up to 25 GB or so. Same with using and editing video.
One way to regain some free space is to use Monolingual to remove the non-required language modules. I saved 2.5 GB on my MBP the first time I ran it. Just be sure not to remove the English module . I wouldn't bother with any of the other features in Monolingual. Just use the language removal feature.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Photos not found on icloud after backing up.

I had an iphone 5 with a faulty battery. took my phone to the seller and he told me that the phone was going to be replaced. before giving the phone I backed verything on icloud through wifi. The day after I received my new phone and when I went to the icloud site on my pc I didint find my pictures. icloud only backed up my contacts. I tried going on to the icloud on windows but my brother has his iphone set up there.
Can someone tell me if i can dowmload these photos from an app on the iphone??
    Thanks in advance

You can't see photos on iCloud on a computer (Don't know why).  But you should be able to restore your phone from iCloud and get your pictures back.
Connect your phone to iTunes and it should show that you are set to automatically back up to iCloud.  Then you can click restore and it should restore from your cloud backup.

    Hello imuwa,
It sounds like you are trying to burn a CD using iTunes, but you are getting the error, "disc burner or software not found."  I found a couple of resources that I think might help with an error like this.
I recommend starting with the steps in this article:
