Trouble Upgrading To iTunes 7

When I attempt to make a purchase on the itunes music store (itunes 5) it tells me I must upgrade to iTunes 7. However clicking the upgrade button yeilds no results. Is their a really obvious answer about which i should know?

Hi. I am having the same issue. I have 6.05.20 and itunes informs me that I need to upgrade to 7.0 to buy James Taylor's new XMas disc. I "download" but nothing happens - it technically downloads (I click "save" and watch as it count downs the download) but it doesn't actually download. I still have the same version 6.05.20. Its strange. Any thoughts?

One step listed in the link to "helpful" info, was (when Iooked 30 seconds ago), to search for and download the newest version of iTunes. I'm running iTunes on Win 7 machine and was prompted to update today, 10.22.2014, and did so without a problem. Having said that, however, it looks as though the latest iTunes (12.0.1.26) is finally doing what the last version refused to do, which is to actually fully populate all my playlists on my 6, but there is a hitch: 12.0.1.26 will NOT allow you to show the sidebar unless you click on "playlists," that is, you cannot keep it open all the time.
And, when plugging the 6 into the computer, the phone icon shows up but clicking on it does nada. What does work, for some strange reason, is clicking on the tiny icon (just under the "Store" menu link at top screen) which looks much like a tiny barrel, someone's idea of external drives, I suppose. The phone then comes up, with the list of stuff on the phone just under it where the sidebar used to be. Sync is now restricted to the lower right of the screen.
Apparently, you will also need to update your iPhone's software as well; some friends with the 4 and 4s, however, had troubles with them after upgrading. The message from Silicon Valley (I can see Apple from my backyard, ha ha) is apparently, "keep upgrading," folks, get rid of those old phones.

Having trouble upgrading to iTunes 9

I Tried Upgrading to iTunes 9 and it looked like everything installed okay but when I tried to open iTunes it give me this message :
"Quicktime version 7.5.5 installed, iTunes requires Quicktime version 7.6.4 or later
Please uninstall iTunes and then install iTunes again."
I tried going and getting the newest version of Quicktime without un-installing iTunes because I am unsure if it will delete my whole iTunes library if I un-install iTunes and that still didnt work.
Can somebody please help?

I have a problem sort of like this, but when I try to open up iTunes it says: "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed." I installed iTunes 9, but it just wont let me open it.

I'm Having Trouble upgrading to itunes 7.0.2

My computer won't let me upgrade to itunes version 7.0.2, I'm currently at some version of 6.0. I think it's doing some wierd error or something. Halfway through the download a pop-up comes on my screen and say cannot access HKEY, the address of the HKEY is: HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\Classes\QuicktimePlayerLib.QuicktimePlayerApplCLSID. The pop-up says this key cannot be accessed and then says to verify I have access to this key (which I don't know how to do) or contact my support personnel. So can someone please help me fix this problem, or else I will never be able to upgrade.

I was having the same problem, but then i ran the Windows Installer Utility clean up and removed QuickTime, and tried downloading iTunes with QuickTime again, and it worked perfectly, i was so happy. so it couldn't hurt to give it a try.

Trouble Upgrading to iTunes 8.2

I get the following error message when I try to upgrade to iTunes 8.2:
errors occured while installing the updates. if the problem persits choose tools > download only and try installing manually
Not sure how to upgrade manually or anyone else gets this error message.

You can download iTunes from here:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
You need to save the installer file on your desktop. When you are prompted to Run\Save, choose save.
Then you run the installer, iTunesSetup.exe, from your desktop.
If that doesn't work, it may be necessary to manually remove iTunes before reinstalling, but I won't go into that unless you need to do it.

Trouble upgrading to 10.6.1

Hi all,
I'm having trouble upgrading to iTunes 10.6.1. Earlier today, I opened iTunes, and received an error message that "iTunes Library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes." Still not sure why this happened. I followed a workaround I found by essentially renaming a previous iTunes library.
Now, I open iTunes, and when I click on "software update," it is indicated that I can update to 10.6.1. However, this takes me to the main Mac Software Update program, but unfortunately I'm told that there are no updates for my computer. The "current version" I am using is iTunes 10.5.1.
Any advice on how I can actually upgrade to 10.6.1?

I am having trouble printing cd inserts since i upgraded to iTunes 10.2.1.1, I get a black block where the artwork is supposed to print... help!

This problem disappeared with a later version BUT it has reappeared with 11.02.26 again. Maybe they put the old code back! This really is getting quite ridiculous where iterations are not fully tested before they are released. Very poor professionalism indeed.

I am having trouble with my iphone5. I finally had SFR after 2 hours or more waiting to switch the service of the sim card. The phone worked finally but after upgrading my itunes, the iphone 5 will not even let me sign in nor give password.

I was so happy to receive my iphone5 today but, happiness turned into frustration. The new sim card was unlocked etc... The phone finally worked after 2 hrs or more and since I upgraded my itunes, the phone is blocked. It will only let me after being turned on unlock the phone. Once I get to ID apple and password, I can put it in but, then it says it has timed out. It also says I cannot connect to the server. What is going on???
I am in France and there is no Apple Store open on Sunday, my phone service is closed as well.

I think you can solve your problems by removing your AppleID email address from BOTH the Messages setting on your iPhone and the iMessages settings on your Mac.
On iPhone:
Settings > Messages > iMessage > Dissabled
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > touch the "(i)" < touch "Remove This Email"
On Mac:
Open "Messages" application
Click "Messages menu > Preferences
Click "Accounts"
Select your AppleID account
Under the "You can be reached for messages at" settings, uncheck your AppleID email address and your phone number
Then uncheck the "Enable this account" setting
And lastly, ask all of your friends with iPhones to delete all iMessage conversations (blue bubbles) in their entirety.
To test, send a friend a new text using their phone number (not their email address) and watch the color of the bubble. If it's green then you are using SMS.

Having trouble upgrading "The Complete U2" to iTunes Plus

I purchased "The Complete U2" in early 2005. When iTunes went DRM-Free/256kbps "The Complete U2" was not immediately available. Apparently, on 05/23/09, for many who had purchased "The Complete U2" like I did, the collection became available for upgrade to iTunes Plus. I received notification in my iTunes Plus cue on or around 05/27/09. When I tried to upgrade on 05/29/09, I received a message stating that the item is no longer available in the iTunes store. Mind you, the icon for "The Complete U2" and the "Buy Album" (for $45.00) is still in my iTunes "Upgrade to iTunes Plus" storefront.
I've been in email support contact with two different reps from Apple, and unfortunately despite communicating with a "Tier 2 iTunes" support rep, I've gotten no solid answers as to why this is the case, or whether it will at some point be available for upgrade/download. The most I've been told is that it's "the band's (U2's) decision" to sell or not sell their product and that they can choose to change sellability at any time. My own further understanding is that Universal (U2's prior record label at the time "The Complete U2" was released) pulled the plug on the initial retail sale of the product in about 07', so new users cannot purchase "The Complete U2" for the first time, any longer. What is puzzling, is that Universal would go to the lengths of providing a 256kbps DRM-free, iTunes Plus edition of "The Complete U2" only to yank it a couple of days after it became upgradable to a lucky few.
I have read online that several users who received notification on 05/23/09 of the availability of the Upgrade to iTunes Plus for "The Complete U2" were in fact successful at upgrading and downloading the content, both here in the U.S., and at users in U.K. and another European country (The Netherlands) have also mentioned being able to upgrade.
I've not read of anyone else in my predicament: Namely, my iTunes Plus upgradable content list contains the option to upgrade "The Complete U2", but when I tried to upgrade I'm receiving a message indicating that it is "no longer available for purchase."

I also could not upgrade my complete u2 library. I tried each day for the past couple of days. Last night (6/19/09) I tried again with the same results. Then I noticed that in the upgrade screen, next to the buy all button, it listed all my purchase that I could upgrade. The total cost included the $45 for the complete U2. I figured, what's the worst that could happen if I try it?
Well, to make a short story long, IT WORKED! I was able to download the U2 complete upgrade. I just had to also upgrade 8 songs from other artists.
So, if you have other songs that can be upgraded, and your Buy All option includes the $45 U2 cost. Then give it a shot. Get it while you can until they "fix the glitch"

Trouble upgrading itunes!!!!!!!!!!!

I have had this problem for over a month and have tried numerious things. When I try to upgrade my itunes it says: Service 'iPod Service' (iPod Service)failed to start. verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
I am the administrator on the computer, so that is not the problem.
does anyone have any suggestions??? im pretty open to anything. I'm just trying to see if anyone knows anything else that I can try.

that can happen sometimes if the itunes installer is having a hard time shutting down either itunes or quicktime (or applications using quicktime) prior to the install. so let's try a "download, restart, then install strategy."
leave your ipod unplugged.
download and save a copy of the itunes installer to your hard drive. (do not run the install on line, and do not start the install by clicking on the iTunesSetup.exe (installer) file just yet.)

shut down running applications and restart the PC.
do not open any other applications prior to attempting the iTunes install. switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
now start the install by doubleclicking the iTunesSetup.exe file.
does the install go through properly this time?

Problem with videos after upgrading to iTunes 9.0?

Something went wrong with my videos after I upgraded to iTunes 9.0! The videos are twice as long as they were originally. Let's say this video was actually 1 minute long. It is now 2 minutes long. For the first minute it plays normally, then for the second minute, it just repeats itself, but with no sound.
Is anyone having this problem? I uninstalled and reinstalled Quicktime, but that didn't help at all. Help!

You mean, the vids you purchased from the official iTunes store does not play on iTunes itself....?? :O :O That shocks me to the core. May be the DRM-protection present in the files you purchased previously does not support the newest version of iTunes. Try calling the Apple support for help and explain them your situation. Otherwise, you might have to roll back to the previous working version of iTunes for those videos to play, since they wont play on other video players anyways.

Hmm...Is your issue fixed by now ? Any work-arounds ? I suggest you try this : Uninstall all Apple products installed in your computer, like iTunes, Quicktime, Apple Mobile Support, Apple Software Update, Safari Web Browser etc. If you have trouble in uninstalling them, try uninstalling them in safe-mode. IMPORTANT : Take a back-up of all the files you purchased from iTunes Store. Now use CC Cleaner and remove all registry logs related to Apple products. Restart your comgputer in between each of these steps. Now install the latest versions of all the products afresh. I think this should work. Do revert.

Upon upgrade to itunes 9, my iphone 3.0.1 can no longer connect

i now get the following error every time i try to connect to itunes 9:
"itunes could not connect to this iphone because and unknown error occurred (0xE800005E)
What the **** do i do now...i can't just revert to itunes 8 because my time machine has been down forever which is about to become another post...so what are my options? anyone else experience this?
for the record i downloaded and installed both the itunes and the iphone 3.1 at the same time..upon reboot though itunes 9 opened so when i tried to connect the iphone to sync the 3.1 upgrade, and thats when i get the error...

I had some trouble upgrading to 3.1 on my iPhone 3G. I downloaded and installed iTunes 9, then downloaded and upgraded to iPhone 3.1. Just as it was about to install on my phone, I received an error: "Your iPhone must be restored." Fine. I hit the "Restore and Upgrade" button and received yet another error. I then turned off my Kaspersky Anti-Virus/Firewall. That did the trick. Hope it's something as simple as that for you!

After upgrade to Itunes 7 I can no longer burn cd's that work

I used to burn cd's just fine until I upgraded to itunes 7, now no cd works in my car or any other cd player when I burn cd's with Itunes. The show up on my Mac but are not recognized in other areas. I have the lastest updates for all other software. Please advise. I wish I could go back to the old itunes I never had this trouble before. thanks

yes I have. I have tried to burn a mp3 and a regular audio cd. I used to never have a problem until the upgrade. I can play them on my mac G5 and laptop and at work on my pc computer. But when I put them in my car cd player they don
t work. I have not changed the type of cd's and they used to allways work before. How do I go back to the old version of Itunes? If this can't be fixed I think I will have to find another application to burn cd's for my car. I read here that I am not the only one with this problem.
