Trouble video chatting from iChat to AIM (PC)

Question

i just recently purchased a MacBook Pro. kinda new to the OS. but ive downloaded aim as well as tried using ichat to video chat with someone on aim who has a PC. and when i send the request and they try to accept an error msg. and when they request they get an error also. any help greatly appreciated.

Hi,
This Users Tip was written some time ago but does contain transferable info.
Basically the AIM end has to be allowed through the Windows Firewall as an Exception.
The Ports AIM on a PC uses also have to be allowed by some method in the routing device at that end.
It does pay to try and use UPnP as the method to allow ports at Both ends.
Trillian Pro mentioned in the Users Tip is another App that can Video to iChat.
The Pro Bit is a Add-on needed to do Video and Audio Chat and is the bit that costs.
Again as a NON Microsoft app it has to be allowed through the Firewall as an Exception.
At your end go to the iChat Menu > Preferences > Video Section and set the Bandwidth Limit to 500kbps
This is more than enough for a 4 way Video chat between Macs but may help the PC end.
