Trouble viewing calendar in public folders

The Exchange server at my work has a calendar in the public folders for each department (probably over 30 calendars total). I have one user who cannot view the calendar for her department, but she doesn't seem to have any issues viewing the calendar for
any other department.
When she opens this specific calendar, it doesn't generate any errors. It simply loads a calendar with no appointment entries. Earlier this year, we replaced this person's computer that was running Windows XP and Office 2003 with a computer running Windows
7 and Office 2010, and we still see the same issue.
The technician in charge of our Exchange server is the only one who has access to set these permissions, but he said he doesn't see anything wrong with the user's profile. He also doesn't seem to really understand the issue that I'm describing. Does
anyone know what would cause this and what I could suggest the other technician to check?

Hi,
Based on your description, only one user can't view the calendar for her own department. Others can see the the calendar for her department. You have checked Outlook is in online mode, but OWA works well.
Please open Outlook in safe to check result.
Please check the connection status by holding the CTRL button down while right-clicking the Outlook icon in the task bar.
Please grant this user the owner permissions to the affected calendar folder to check result.
Without losing several years worth of archived emails, I recommend you export these serverl years messages to a pst file just in case.
Best regards,

  • Authorization to view public folders on Bo Xi R3

    Hello Antonio,
As Mike said, you have to deny rights at folder level.
The easiest is to deny rights to the root folder, and then give rights to view to specific folders.
This way, if you create a new folder, the user by default will inheritate the "denied" right to view the new folder.

  • Problems syncing Iphone with Public folders in exchange on our server?

We have downloaded and installed the latest version of Itunes. We have our calendars as public folders on our office exchange server. When we go to set up the sync, under calendars the first time we open it up, it shows a list of our public calendar folders but they are all greyed out and only gives us the option of "calendar". Once we sync as a test to see what happens, the list of our public folder calendars no longer appears. What do we need to do, to sync our Iphone, using Itunes, with the public calendar folder on our server. I know it sees them because of the initial list. But I can not get the phone to sync to a public calendar. Any helpful suggestions?

Tried that, I get the following when I go to the Public Folder Management Console:
Cannot complete the operation because there isn't an available public folder database on server
And even if I did that how does that help me retrieve my missing information?

  • Public Folders calendars updates and refreshing issues

    Hi,
We have calendars we use under the Public Folders, but for some users it does not want to refresh right away, so user A inserts an entry in one of the Calendars, they do not see the entry they just saved inside the calendar at all. They try to add the same
entry again they get message are you sure you want to delete this entry !!
But if they add an entry and go back to mail view and go back in calendar view on their Outlook 2010 they sometimes see the entry they just made and sometimes double entries for same event as well because of the "delete this entry " message.
So the public folders calendars are not refreshing right away when users are entering an event, and also at instances other users will not be able to see the event either till they close out of outlook and re-open it.
It is bit of a nuisance, found this thread with similar problem but they are talking about exchange 2010 we are on exchange 2013 with CU1 (too afraid to upgrade to CU2 because of all the horror stories).
Is there any other way to have these public calendars that might refresh faster instead of using the Public Folders, if i am not mistaken MS has always tried to get away from using Public Folders and their development has been poor.

    Few things :
If i do decide to jump to CU3 , can it be directly from CU1 to CU3 jump ?
    - I have not used resource mailboxes but are they not just "mailboxes" i want users to be able to see the calendars and the events posted in them, these resource mailboxes seem to be more geared towards booking a room or some multimedia equipment.
Yes. You can go straight to CU3.
Sure, they are just mailboxes, but users can open the shared calendar. Most people probably use them for booking - true, but you can use it the way any want of course and keep it simple.

  • Permissions problem: Public folders/Shared Calendars across domains with Linked accounts

I have a linked mailbox that is accessed by an account in a trusted domain.  The account can access e-mail, send e-mail, free-busy search, etc, just fine.  However, there seems to be a permissions issue with the public folders and shared calendars.
When trying to access the public folders for which permissions have been assigned to the linked account from the trusted domain account, I get an error, or just can't see the folders.  The only way I can view public folders is by setting default permissions
    on the folder to 'Read'.
I've found some other threads that reference this problem, and a blog that no longer exists as the solution:

  • Can no longer see messages in public folders in Outlook (2010) conversation view

(originally posted this under MS Community outlook discussion and it was suggested I post it here):
    Hello:
I believe this may be related to a recent update, but previously I could see messages from public folders in my conversation view.  Now, I am only able to see messages in private folders (including sent items).
I have the cached exchange mode on.
I loved the conversation view because I could move e-mails out of my inbox to public folders (on our company server) to keep my inbox under required size limits, but still have easy access to e-mails within the conversation string.  That view in my
opinion was the best upgrade to Outlook when it first came out.  Now it's virtually useless for me again.
If there's something i can change to get those messages re-appearing again I'd really love to know what I can do, it was really useful for me.
Thanks in advance to any who reply!

    Hi,
Based on the descrtiption, I know that there is no emails exist in public folder when using conversation view in Outlook after installing update.
    1. I suggest use OWA to check whether emails exist in public folder when using Conversation View. If it works well, it seems an issue on the Outlook client side.
    2. Please check the connectivity between Outlook and Public Folder.
    3. I suggest disable conversation view for test to verify whether emails appear in public folder. If the emails appear, it seems an issue on Outlook Conversation View.
    4. I also suggest run Outlook under safe mode to avoid some AVs and add-ins. Try to re-create profile to refresh the caches.
    Thanks

  • Exchange 2013 public folders are sending read receipts for items viewed in public folders

We have Exchange 2013 with public folders.  These public folders are used for a large amount of shared contacts.  When a user goes into the public folders and double clicks on a contact to view it, Exchange dispatches a read receipt to all users
that are configured as publishing editors to notify them that a certain contact was read.  How do I disable this option?

    hi again dear.. :)
"At first, I would like to say the
read Receipt is not sent out by the device, it is sent out by the Exchange server. This is how it works and what happens:
    1.
    E-mail with request for send
    receipt is received on the Exchange server;
    2.
E-mail is synchronized with Windows Mobile based device using Exchange
    ActiveSync;
    3.
    When e-mail is
    read on Windows Mobile based device the read status is synchronized back to the Exchange server;
    4.
The Exchange server creates and sends out the
    Read Receipt when receiving the Read status update from the device;
The above is how this is implemented and there is no functionality which allows preventing this from occurring on the Mobile device.
It seems that there is an alternative method to disable RR using transport rules. However, it will at the risk of the filtering out other messages
    with the same subject.
Towards the third party mobile clients that support RR and DR, you might consider using Flexmail 4.11. It’s impossible to deactivate ActiveSync
    RRs in Exchange server 2007/2010."
    also
One way to stop read receipts being triggered through client side configuration on the mobile is to use the option "Don't Mark Read on server".
I have tested this successfully using this option in the TouchDown mail client on Android.
Not sure if the standard or other mail clients do support this option, TouchDown certainly does and it works.
The side effect obviously is, that the read status isn't synced back to Exchange anymore:"
hope now i r clear... one way or the other... you need to send a feed back or define a transport rule... but that again may create problem with the same subject :)

  • Schedule webi report u2013 report should go under Public Folders in Info View

    Hi Experts,
    Schedule webi report
Destination -> File System u2013 what directory path I should give to move reports under Public Folders?
Is that possible to give the path of Public Folders as Destination directory?
    Regards,
    Sasi

To see the latest instance of a report automatically you can change the default from view to view latest instance.
CMC > Applications > Infoview  and select View the latest successful instance of the object
Then when you double click on the report, it will open the latest instance.
BUT if the report doesn't have an instance, eg only be run manually not via the schedule, the report won't open. You have to right click and select view.
I've seen either here or in another forum that in XI 2 it will automatically open the report if it doesn't have an instance but in XI 3.1 it doesn't.

  • Viewing Public Folders on Android

Is it possible to view public folders on an iPhone or Android device.  We are currently on Exchange 2010 and I can't seem to find a way to do this without a third party product.  Is it possible in Exchange 2013 without the use of a third part product.
Also if anyone know of a way to do this without a third part product in exchange 2010 that would be great.
My other thoughts were to do away with public folders.
    Please advise.
    Thanks,

    Hi
We could only access Public Folder only via OWA Light version through mobile but it does not support public folders in it and you won't be able to open them.
Unfortunately, Public folders sync is not supported via activesync unless you try them with 3rd party solutions which is not recommended by Microsoft to use because it might cause some other connectivity issues.

  • Exchange 2013 User cannot view public folders

    Good morning,
User was able to view public folders, then lost connection to public folders.  User cannot view public folders in OWA.
Verified proper permissions.   No changes have been made to the user account in AD, exchange.

Did you do a fresh install of Exchange, meaning there was no version of Exchange installed previously? If not, have you moved Public Folders over to Exchange 2013 yet?  If the answer to this question is no, then you will not be able to view Public
Folders in OWA until they are migrated over Exchange 2013.

  • Get Only Public Folders & Sub Folders with Calendars

I'm trying to think of a way to get only public folders with a calendar (even calendars in sub folders). The closest I've come so far to getting that list was by using the following command:
    Get-PublicFolder -Identity \ -GetChildren | Where {$_.HasSubFolders -eq "True" -and $_.ParentPath -like "\*"} | select Identity
I know that I'm missing something.  Can anyone help out?

I think you can use below command
    Get-PublicFolder -Recurse | ? {$_.FolderType -like "IPF.Appointment"} |fl
    Get-PublicFolder -Recurse | ? {$_.FolderType -like "IPF.Appointment"} | Select Name, Identity, *Path*

  • Why are emails in public folders being marked as read when viewed in the viewing pane when I have disabled this in settings

I am using office 2010 on a windows 7 PC. In outlook I have changed the settings for the reading pane so that emails are not marked as read unless I actually open them. This is working for emails in my inbox and outbox but not for emails in public
folders. Emails in public folders are marked as read as soon as I click on them. Do public folders have a different setting for marking email as read in the reading pane?
It is important for me that emails in the public folders are not marked as read when i click on them as I need to read through hundreds of project emails in these folders and need to be able to distinguish between emails I have read and actioned
and emails I have just clicked on while searching for an email I need. This folder serves as an archive for my emails so i cant delete them once I have read them. I also don't have permission to label them or create tasks from them.

    Hi,
I tested in my lab, it worked for public folders. My Outlook version is Outlook 2013.
Please open Outlook in safe mode to check result.
If possible, please check if this issue persists from a different client server.
