Trouble viewing Captivate 8 published output.

Trouble viewing Captivate 8 published output.  I created a course for a client who also wants a video of it.  I published and I can see it on my end, but when I send them the files using DropBox, they can't open the .SWF, the Chrome.HTML, or the AVI or MP4's I've put out there.  At first I thought it was operator error, but there are 5 people who can't view them.  Was I supposed to add other supporting docs that were not in the Published folder?
Help, please.
Teresa

That's what I thought too.  I wonder if they are trying to run it right out of Dropbox.  I also told them they could right click and open in Internet Explorer if Chrome was problematic.
So I only have to provide the packaged file right?  I've always just delivered the published folder, so I was really at a loss as to why they can't run it.  Could this also be a Systems Security issue?  Perhaps their employer blocks this sort of action?
Thanks so much for your input.  I really appreciate the help (and validation).

  • Calling Captivate HTML5 Output from an application

I want to call Adobe HTML5 and Flash Captivate published output from an application.  There are several issues I'm currently experiencing duing this:
    1) Iframe.
Using an Iframe works for the most part, except that we are hosting many Captivate presentations and there's a bloated number of files when showing the presentation this way, since each one gets the full set of support files needed.
There's also a bug when hiding and reshowing the Captivate presentation (using jQuery.hide and jQuery.show respectively on the parent form): when reshowing the video player controls disappear.
To get around this I progammatically set the height of the iframe to zero, and then set it back to desired screen height when showing the presentation.
    2) view in app.
I'm guessing this could work but there's such a mishmash of published files and resources, in our case over 200 in all.
There are several issues we run into in general:
    1) jQuery in the published captivate is an old version of jQuery  2.0.0 is current.
    2. jQuery ui in  the published captivate is an old version of jQuery.  1.10.2 is current.
    3. [presentation_name].htm files do not capture javaScript events or open urls currently in the proesentation, only the index.html file does.

  • Captivate records narration well, but published output is garbled

I have tried recording with two different microphones
(handheld and headset), neither of which are USB. I'm recording on
the fly during the video recording. The narration sounds great in
when I listen to it in Captivate, but is garbled when I run the
recording in Preview or Publish the project. By garbled I mean it
sounds tinny and there's more background noise. I can't call it
    acceptable.
I exported the audio track and when I did, Captivate created
a .wav file and an .mp3 file. My intepretation of this is that the
recording is being made as a .wav and is then converted at
publishing time to .mp3. The deteriation in quality is quite
noticeable. As an experiment, I converted the .wav to an .mp3 using
some other software with a lot more in the way of control. The .wav
sounded fine. So I conclude that the problem lies in the
Captivate's conversion routine from .wav to .mp3, but there seems
to be no way to adjust that (other than the low, medium, and high
quality settings -- by the way, the "high" quality setting did not
    help).
Any thoughts on this situation? I'd love to use Captivate and
get going on my project, but this sound issue is a big hangup.
    David

    Hi David,
    1) How large is your project in total number of slides?
. . . number of slides containing audio?
. . . actual physical size in pixels?
All of these should be available in the movie Properties
colum (left side of Storyboard view), or from "View > Bandwidth
Analyser". What I'm looking for is possible "resources" issues.
    2) In no order . . . yes, there are two copies of each audio
file, one in WAV (PCM) format and the other in MP3. The WAV is
created (if necessary) for purposes of editing - the audio editor
in Captivate is a WAV editor. The MP3 is created to be included in
the published output - for purposes of best "streaming" performance
of the published SWF, from the web.
    3) I am absolutely certain that the problem is
NOT in Captivate's conversion routine. The is not to say the
problem is not real - just that I don't think it is happening
    during conversion.
    4) You mention "quality" settings. Have you tried changing
the quality of all affected audio to "High" (CD, I believe)? Have
you then tried changing it back to "normal" (FM, as I remember). I
would try that before throwing up your hands - but it would be best
if you used "Save As" liberally, to create copies so the original
    can be preserved . . .
Hope there is some help here - keep in touch, David.

  • Trouble viewing publisher (6.2) admin portlet.

Product: Publisher 6.2 (Plumtree portal Server 6.1 G1)
    Environment: Development
    Operation System: Windows 2003 Server
    Development Technology: .Net
I am having trouble viewing publisher administration portlet through portal server.
I have installed Publisher 6.2 on our development server. The diagnostics page shows everything is okay! The publisher was imported in the portal and Publisher Administration portlet was added to the home page. Of the three links in the publisher admin portlet, I can access the Workflow Administration link correctly, but while accessing the Publisher Explorer or Diagnostics I get the 404 File Not Found error.
Any suggestions why the explorer and diagnostics links are not functioning; as I understand these two links are Gatewayed while the workflow admin link isn't it.
I have uninstallaed and re-installed Publisher one more time to ensure it wasn't a installation issue.
Thanks for your help in advance.

    Chris,
This is the URL that it tries to post to when you click on the diagnostics link:

  • Exit button not working in Captivate 7 published output

Hi. I am using Capivate v7 and am experiecing this problem with published output:
I am using an Exit button that runs the standard javascript code
         javascript:window.close()
so that the user can exit the presentation. The button works fine when I test out the presentation using Internet Explorer 8, but when I generate an output and try running the .swf file, the button does not work.
How do I get an Exit button to work for the .swf output?
    Thanks,
    - Michael Fekete

Yes, the close X does work 100% of the time. That's because the browser itself is just a window in the operating system. And you are commanding the window to close.
And you might find yourself asking why that would work while the Exit button fails. And it would be that it's a security issue. Security prevents the window from closing because if a web site was nefarious, it could actually trap you by making changes and quickly closing the window and preventing you from browsing elsewhere.
It's simple to turn off the Exit button. Just click Project > Skin Editor and clear the Close checkbox.

  • Embedding BI Publisher output in OAF Page

    Hi All,
I want to embed the BI Publisher output in one of the regions on OAF page.
    I was getting error
Error invoking 'set_xslt_locale':'java.lang.IllegalAccessError: tried to access class oracle.apps.fnd.i18n.common.text.DigitList from class oracle.apps.fnd.i18n.common.text.ExcelNumberFormat'
Then i followed the same steps as described by Tom in the forum thread "http://kr.forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=485021"
Now i dont get the error messages.
But whenever i click on submit button, its doing nothing, the page is just refreshed and it shows neither any error nor the report.
But when I try the traditional approach of exporting the document using "DocumentHelper.exportDocument", its giving me the report output in new pop up. But i want the report output to be embedded in a Page itself.
Does it mean, document Viewer region is not set properly or there is any other problem?
Do we need to do some specific setting for document viewer? I have just pasted the value "/oracle/apps/xdo/oa/common/webui/DocumentViewerRn.MainRegion" in the extends property and did nothig else.
I am working on 11.5.10.2 and jDev is 9.0.3.5(Build 1312)
I am sorry if you find this thread as duplicate. But i am helpless and finding no way to achieve this.
    Can anyone please help?

  • Can't view XML Publisher document from JDeveloper environment

Something has happened to my JDeveloper environment so that I can no longer view XML/BI Publisher output in the JDeveloper runtime web pages. I have developed pages using both DocumentHelper.getOutputURL and TemplateHelper.processTemplate functions. At rutime I am getting an error logged like:
java.io.FileNotFoundException: \usr\tmp\xdoxxxxxxxxxxx.fo (The system cannot find the path specified)
However, when I actually deploy and run the pages in EBS they seem to work fine.
I'm guessing it's some sort of configuration problem with my OC4J server but can't seem to find the details anywhere.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

I got this issue resolved. I was missing xdo_doc_display.jsp in my local /OA_HTML directory. Also, I had to create a directory, C:\usr\tmp (I still don't know where that is being set).
Anyway, thanks to all who tried to help.

  • RH7 Published output missing TOC

I recently upgraded from x5 to RH7 with Server 7.
    I generate WebHelp Pro content.
There are some topics in my project that are flagged "Version
2" and a few lines at the text level are also flagged "Version 2".
None of the TOC books are flagged with any build tags.
When I generate the project with the coniditional build tag
set to "Not Verion 2" (meaning it should generate all topics and
content that is not flagged version 2) -the generated output shows
the TOC - and then if I take it all the way to the publish step -
the published output does not show the TOC .
If I generate and publish with the conditional build tag
"Version 2" (basically meaning it should include all content) -
then I can see the TOC in the generated and published output.
(Side note: I also have build takes for Online and Print -
but these are rarely used and do not seem to be involved in the
    problem described above.)
I am viewing the output in IE7 - but since I can see the TOC
in the generated output and not in the published output - I think
the problem is not with the browser.....

To resolve the problem I went through each topic and turned
off the Topic-Level Build Tag - then republished. I did this until
I found the file that was preventing the TOC from displaying. Then
    I replaced that file.

  • Font color issues in published output

I have just upgraded a couple of older Captivate projects to 5.5.
On some of the slides I have click boxes set to open URLs when clicked, and I have colored the text blue and underlined it so that it looks like a hyperlink.
When viewing the published content I've noticed that my hyperlink text is black, instead of blue.
Has anyone run into this issue before?  I've searched the forums and couldn't easily find any references to this issue, although this is not the first time I've seen this problem with my courses.
Thanks in advance for any help!
    Brian

Rod, thank you so much for the reply.
The blue is just your standard #0000FF blue, which should be safe with 8 bit quality, and the slides were set to 8 bit quality the last time they were published (and worked) in an older version Captivate.  Kind of weird, right?
BUT, being the optimist that I am, I took your suggestion and tried setting one of the slides to 24 bit, and the blue is blue once again rather than black!  Very bizarre, but faster than the work around I had found yesterday so I'm probably going to roll with it.  I found that changing the slide quality to 24 bit has a minimal impact on the size of the published swf file, so I'm good.
Again, oddly enough, my work around mentioned above involves changing the default caption style to what Captivate calls "default caption capture style".  With my caption style set as this my blue is blue, even with the slide quality set at 8 bit.  I took one of my older courses and went through changing all of the caption styles.  Took me a little while as changing the caption style changes the font, font color, font styles, font sizes, paragraph alignment settings, etc., etc.
And on a side track, I got to thinking after I noticed that changing the caption style seemed to fix the font color issue...  My original project used a custom caption style, one that I had not yet "reinstalled" since upgrading to Captivate 5.5.  So, I added the custom caption styles, even changed the name of the caption style and tried to reapply it, but no dice.
It seems that, with the slide quality set at 8 bit, if I use a caption style of "default caption style", my blue is black on publish.  But, if I use a different caption style, such as "default capture caption style", my blue is blue, even at 8 bit quality.

  • Imported Flash files are not playing in published output

Adobe Presenter 7 with the latest updates and PowerPoint 2007
When I insert a Captivate 3 generated Flash file into a Presenter slide, the flash file does not play in the Published output. The slide's image is displayed for 5 seconds and then stops.
After further review, I found that my imported Flash files are not included in the output. Any ideas?
    Terry

    Hi Terry,
It's been awhile since I've messed around w/ Captivate 3, but I have a quick question: does your Captivate content include a skin.swf file?  If so, then you may have to look at a couple of different solutions to fix the playback problem that you're seeing with Presenter.
One fix includes eliminating the skin by turning the borders option off which will eliminate the "_skin.swf" file. That'll be one less file to deal with, but you need to do that BEFORE publishing in Captivate.  From there, you should end up with one swf file from your Captivate content; and then at that point you can include that swf in your Presenter content.
And while we're at it....are you using any Full Motion Recordings at all?  I've seen instances where, as you reported, Captivate content will run for awhile, but then the screen "goes blank"...so I'm just curious to know if your Captivate content in actuality has many more files than the "base" swf---which is probably the swf you included in PowerPoint.
Having said that, can you share more information about what your Captivate project looks like (in terms of the number of swf files you're working with, etc), and let's see if we can resolve this for you.

  • Some computers cannot view Captivate 4.0 lesson in LMS

Hi guys, we have been very successful at viewing Captivate 4.0 lessons in our LMS for 2+ years but now we have very strange things happening.  OF the 50+ lessons, about 3 lessons on the LMS cannot be viewed on certain computers.  We know the problem is with the swf file from Captivate.  On the problem computers, the swf appears to load for 2 sec. then we get a black screen, or we just get a black screen from the beginning. The computers that can view the files, (and from which the lessons were published), have Flash player 8.  The lessons were published as AS2 and for Flash Player 8.
Two of the problem lessons have animations that were imported as FLA's, we also did some localization (English to Spanish) by importing a caption/close caption file into the Captivate file. We did the same importing of captions for many more lessons but only these 3 are acting strange.
The lessons are scormed but that is not the issue because we tried to view only the  swf of an unscormed lesson and we cannot see it on the 3 problem computers. The problem happens with Internet Explorer and Firefox. The computers where we cannot see the 3 lessons have Flash viewer 11.
I "externalized" the animations to see if that would be the issue but that did not fix anything.
    HELP!

    Hi ,
Frankly Speaking, as you said that the issue is occuring on specific machines only? So, I cannot find its relation with Captivate.
Can you try removing Flash 11 from those machines and try installing  a prior version like flash 9 or 10.
    Thanks,
    Anjaneai

  • Viewing Captivates on a BlackBerry device

I was wondering if it was possible to view a published
Captivate file on a Blackberry device?

    Failed because...
Is Flash Lite installed on the Blackberries? If not, that's
    the first
thing to do! If it is, then it just may be a limitation of
    Flash Lite -
that it can't play back Captivate SWFs.
I can probably get my hands on a Nokia that, I think, has the
    full Flash
player installed so can check a web/LMS-published Captivate
    SWF and see
if that works. If it is the full Flash Player, I don't see
    why it
    wouldn't (barring connectivity issues).
