Trouble w/Linksys WRT54G2 connecting w/Linksys Phone Adapter SPA2102

I am trying to connect my new VOIP phone adapter Linksys SPA2102 with my wireless router Linksys Cisco #WRT54G2 V1.  I have DSL and previously had the wireless router connected with a Vonage Phone Adapter and everything worked fine.  When trying to connect my new phone adapter Linksys(SPA2102) it does not work.  It will work if I connect the new adapter directly with my DSL modem but will not work through my wireless router (WRT54G2 v1).  I have turned everything off and restarted all products several times along with the PC and still no luck.  The only way I can get my DSL to work with the new adapter is to wire it directly to the DSL modem.  Everything worked yesterday prior to trying to use the new phone adapter.  I hope this makes sense lol.  This is not allowing me to use my laptop through the wireless router.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.
Jenny

you should try this -- it shows you how to configure wrt54g2 behind the SPA2102 because it is recommended that you put the SPA2102 directly behind modem for better voice quality

  • The FREETALK Connect•Me Home Phone Adapter for Sky...

    Hi all,
I am seriously considering dropping my landline since I mostly if not only uses my iPhone as my primary device for calls. The problem I have is an alarm system is connected to my land line and requires a way to call the alarm centre in case of an emergency.
I talk to my alarm service provider for an alternative. They already have the cellular option, but it adds $12/m which is not a big saving... They are working on finding an IP/Internet solution, but it will be also a $4/m.
I was wondering if I could use the FREETALK Connect•Me Home Phone Adapter for Skype as a solution. From a computer I can call any 1-800 numbers for free, and I really suspect that the alarm centre is a toll free number too. So in theory it could work.
Can anyone share their experience with the device and suggest if my solution can work or not?
    Thanks

I use that adapter in my house, it works just as a normal landline would.  There is a slightly longer predial delay when initiating a call (approx 3 second Skype dialing noise), beyond that no real difference.  If the box doesn't lock up, or your Internet doesn't go down it should be rather reliable as a replacement.  Those are worst-case scenarios and I generally don't find myself having to do anything to maintain it.  In any case I have it connected to a power surge strip like I do the rest of my equipment.  Should I need to reset it, I just toggle the switch.

  • No incoming calls at all Linksys phone adapter SPA2102

I was wondering if anyone can help me. The phone company I was with went under and I am having major difficulties with hooking my linksys phone adapter up to my computer through a router. I can make outgoing calls but everytime that someone calls in it goes strait to the answering machine. Can someone please help me this has been like this for three weeks. tinabeebe28 : SPA-2102 also contains router with NAT.
By default, it's only possible to access the SPA-2102's internal WEB from the PC hooked to LAN socket of the SPA-2102 ... WAN web access is disabled by default in the config. Also, the IP may not be 192.168.0.1, this is configureable.
I advice you to use the IVR function (**** 210) from the phone in LINE1 socket to obtain the LAN IP address of the SPA-2102 and then access this address via the SPA's LAN.
More details and/or also the SPA admin guide, and SPA-2100 admin suplement can be found for example here :
    http://www.sipura.net/support/
Those are a bit old PDF manuals but it explains basic info about SPA-xxxx adapters, how to use the IVR, how to setup the adapter, what the different options mean etc ...  I think it's a usefull reading.

  • New XBOX 360 S can't connect with Linksys WRT54G2

I can't get the XBOX 360 (the new S model) to connect w/ XBOX Live through my Linksys WRT54G2.
After the automatic settings didn't work, I tried some manual instructions here:
    http://homecommunity.cisco.com/t5/Wireless-Routers/WRT54G2-issues-when-it-s-plugged-in/m-p/207071?qu...
    But that didn't work.
Note:  I have a laptop and an iPad that connect to the router just fine.
    Ideas?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

One additional piece of info... When I go to my Windows PC and look at the Network Map (Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Map), the XBOX shows up as part of the network.  But it has a dashed green line connected to it, instead of a solid green line like the rest of the devices.
Not sure if that provides any additional clues.

  • Wireless internet not working at my house when I use my laptop (using a linksys wrt54g2 router)

I am using a laptop for wireless internet (Dell D610). I have no problem using wireless internet at my school and in other places, but at my house, I can’t browse the internet. The router at my house has a strong signal (4 or 5 bars) and when I try to connect to it, it says that I am connected, but when I open up the internet browser, I can’t get online. The router is in a room right next to mine and it is on the same floor. It is a Linksys WRT54G2 router.
When I go to the network connections folder, for the wireless network connection icon, it says “not connected, firewalled.” I can still browse the internet, though (at places other than my house).
Another thing that I want to mention- I can't connect to other routers in the neighborhood either (the ones that aren't secured). It just doesn't connect (but for the router in my house, it connects). But my roommate told me that a bunch of people have connected to this one guy's router.
What is the problem here? What can I do to make the internet work? Why would I be able to access the school's wireless internet and not the one in my house?

Whats the Wireless Settings you have set on your Router, I there might be the possibility that you have set the security mode on your Router too high thats the reason you are not getting connected to your Wireless Network. Follow the setps to change the Wireless settings on your Router and i think this might help in getting you connected to your wireless network.
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
    Click on the Wireless tab
    - Here select manual configuration...Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
    - Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbours network...
    - Set the Radio Band to Standard-20MHz and change the Standard channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on Save Settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
    For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WPA, For Encryption, select TKIP...For Passphrase input your desired WPA Key. For example , MySecretKey , This will serve as your network key whenever you connect to your wireless network. Do NOT give this key to anyone and remember the key.
NOTE : Passphrase should be more that 8 characters...
Click on the Sub tab, Wireless MAC Filter..
Make sure the Wireless MAC Filter on your Router is Turned Off.
    Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

  • Wireless connection w/linksys to Comcast?

I am trying to connect my daughter;s Linksys router to her Comcast cable DSL but am having trouble making the wireless connection. Do I have to change her settings in the computer to make this work? If so, what needs to be changed. I know Linksys works with other connections because I use one in my home, Thanks.

You actually need to provide more information. Comcast cable is not a Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) so I will assume you arent connecting through a DSL Modem. So... Just plug the Linksys into the Comcast modem. Stick in an ethernet cord into the linksys and the other end into a computer. Open a web browser and type in 192.168.1.1
This will take you to the Linksys administration page.
    Default User Name: admin
    Default Password: admin
On the router: Make sure wireless networking is on and set to DHCP. You can also set up Encryption later by following the same directions to enter the router.
Sounds more complex than it is. If you are new to this, don't woryy, u cant break anything by messing with the settings.
To connect to it with your mac: Click on the little radar at the top right of your screen and choose the linksys router (whatever the network name is). You may have to enable DHCP on your daughter's computer if for exampe it has a manual ip address...
But I dont want to get to complex on you.. yet.

Can i connect two Linksys Phone Adapter PAP2 to one linksys router without creating any networking issues ?

    chojna wrote:

Yes you can connect them.  Each will get a different local ip address and the router is supposed to keep the port numbers straight.  It is easy to change the sip port numbers on one of the PAP2 adapters and to also change the RTP port range on that adapter.  Then you don't have to worry that the router can't keep those port numbers separated and you more or less have to make this change if for some reason you need to forward the port numbers in the router.

  • OSX 10.5.7 seems to mess up DHCP on my Linksys WRT54G2

Our config: home, wired and wireless LAN. 2 PC's with Win on Wired Lan. 2 MBPs (one new and one old) working on both wired and wireless. And some other less used machines like an old Mac. O, and Xbox, Xbox360. Router Linksys WRT54G2.
All of this has been working for months. Router is setup to provide LAN-devices IP via DHCP.
I also use my new MBP while commuting: it then uses wireless internet.
Since i upgraded to 10.5.7 it seems that whenever i connect my MBP to the LAN, the router doesn't issue an IP-address to my Mac (my Mac self assigns an 169.xxx-address. Worse: all other machines on the LAN loose their IP-address! I need to reboot the Linksys a couple of times, and then it works again ... I think there even was a time the problem occured some time later, while i was still working & connected.
Is it really me/my MBP? Well, it looks like it, since as long as i'm not home, the family is happily connecting their machines to the internet without problems.
First i thought it might be the router, so i upgraded to the latest Linksys. Did not help. I have searched the internet for a couple of weeks now. I have tried creating a new location on my Mac: did not help. I have tried switching from DHCP to DHCP+Manual IP and back (read that somewhere): did not help.
I wish i could role back the update, and see whether that would solve the problem, so i know for sure it is this 10.5.7 update that is causing the problem. But after trying all kinds of things for a couple of weeks now, it really looks to be the 10.5.7 upgrade.
Anybody with ideas? If i need to provide more info, please let me know what i left out. And please don't assume i haven't tried the obvious, even if i forgot to mention it here. But if in doubt, ask me, and i'll let you know .

@Nerowolfe. 1st of all: thank you for your reply & time!
The WRT54G2 is a brand new Linksys. I know Linksys for being a good brand, and assume the fact it concerns a new model, should mean basic stuff like DHCP should not be a problem. On the other hand i know everything is possible with computers . That said: i did an upgrade to the newest router firmware on purpose: i did not in the 1st place look for the problem with 10.5.7. But after having tried to rule out everything else, and having noticed the problem started (as i recall) the moment i had upgraded, i think 10.5.7 plays a role.
I thought to post my experience and idea here, to see whether other people have similar problems. That might eventually lead to a solution.
I will (did not yet do that) also post my problem at the Linksys-forum, as i agree, it might be the combination.
But it does look like something changed in the network parts of 10.5.7 compared to its predecessor. And i would hope some engineer would know what that change is and be able to explain what the problem might be?
I know changing anything is a risk. But also that upgrades most of the time need to be applied for security reasons? You say: make a backup. What is the easiest way to do that? I normally backup my data, but not the whole system. I would hope it would be possible to role back any update; that would be good engineering?
Anyway: the problem still exists, and any help is welcomed! If my post at Linksys leads to a resolution, i will post it here.

  • Linksys WRT54G2 can't get IP from PPPoE server

I installed a Linksys WRT54G2 router earlier this year and set my Siemens modem from AT&T(Actually from SBC before the two merged) in bridge mode.  I did this so I could change the NAT setting on our internet, which was interfering with my Xbox and driving me crazy.  It worked for about 4 or 5 months with little to no problems.  Recently, however, the internet has been disconnecting and when I check the status page on the router it says it is disconnected.  Sometimes clicking on the connect button will work, but usually it will say "Connecting" and keep refreshing the page for a little while without any change, then give me a message saying it couldn't get the IP from the PPPoe server.  Turning it and the Siemens modem on and off and fiddling around seems to solve the problem, but only temporarily.  Interestingly enough, I don't think it ever interferes with my Xbox.  Until recently, the Xbox was set as the highest priority on the QoS page, but I changed the computer to the highest priority and it hasn't helped.  In addition, the small, thin green light bar just below the Linksys logo on the top of the router has just recently started changing to orange occasionally.  Help!

  • Connection to linksys wifi has become spotty

For more than a year my husband and I have used the linksys wifi connection on our three ipads. For the past two weeks it keeps dropping the connection and is very difficult to re connect - why?

Perhaps some one has installed a nearby WiFi network which is conflicting with yours. If so try changing the channel used on your router. See the documentation which came with your router. Other electronic devices can also cause problems (microwaves, cordless phones, etc.).
Another possibility is that your WiFi router has started to fail.

  • Can only connect to Linksys E4200 when very close but PCs can connect at 50 feet. What's the solution?

Can only connect to Linksys E4200 when very close but PCs can connect at 50 feet. What's the solution?

If you're technically comfortable in getting to your Linksys settings - try changing the network mode or channel in your router's settings.
I still use my old Linksys router and when it's set to the default channel, which is 7, my Macbook Pro and Macbook Air sometimes have issues - changed the channel to 9 and have had no issues since.
Maybe it might work for you.
In any event - screenshots below are for your E4200 and play with those settings and see if any of the changes you've made improves how your Macbook connects.  Before you change any settings, just remember what the old settings are in case you need to go back to your old settings.
    Good luck.

  • Just connected a Linksys plw400 extender to my wifi network & IPad 2 looses Wifi connection

Just connected a linksys plw400 to my wifi network and now my ipad2 can see the network but cannot connect.  When I disconnect the linksys plw400 my IPad2 will connect albeit a weak signal which is why I bought the extender which works fine with my Dell laptop and Galaxy S3 can anyone help me with this issue?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • I have a Linksys Wrt54gs connected to a Cable modem. it w...

i have a Linksys Wrt54gs connected to a Cable modem.
it worked for about 8 months.
My kid pressed a button by accident and now it won't work.
    the router just keeps resetting.
    i unplugged everything.
conencted 1 computer, and everything is fine.
    Received DHCP address.
Once i plug in a second computer it starts rebooting.
Both computers are set to DHCP.
NO internet connection is connected at this time for troubleshooting purposes.
Nothing is connected to the ethernet port on the Linksys router (port for internet access), only 1 and 2 are connected.
i reset the router and still nothing.
i can connect 1 computer via wireless and 1 computer via direct connection and all is good. Once 2 devices are connected via direct connections it starts resetting.
i can even connect the modem to the router (for internet access), and connect to the linksys router via wireless from my computer and get internet access.
But once i direct connect 2 connections, the router starts resetting.
i have reset and reboot it with every combination i can think of.

Its good that its working now.
If it happens again, try this :
Press the reset button on the router for 30 seconds. The Power light will start flashing. Turn the Router and the Modem OFF. Turn the modem ON first, wait for 10 seconds, turn the router ON, wait for 10 seconds, you should be ONLINE !!!
Do this when the computer os connected to the router with a cable.
than on the computer open Internet Explorer and in the Address Bar type : 192.168.1.1 and hit enter.
It'll ask for the password. The default password is admin.
Once in the setup page. Click on the Wireless tab.
In there Change the Network Mode to mixed. And change the SSID to your name.
Change the Channel to 11. And Enable the SSID Broadcast.
Save the settings here. After that Click on Wireless Security and configure it accordingly and Save the settrings.
Than click on Advanced Wireless Settings. In there Disable the SES function.

If you have tried numerous default resets, then the Express is defective. Normally, it displays a solid amber light...or no light.... when an internal component fails, but I've seen the solid green as well.
If it's in warranty, Apple will replace the device.
If it's not....and you want to try a real longshot....carefully saw open the case along the center seam to open up the device.  You might get really lucky and find something obvious like a connector that has come loose, or something similar.
