Trouble w/ Wireless Printing to HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Using Time Capsule

Hi there –
My Setup:
New MacBook Pro
Comcast Internet (Wireless Router)
2TB Time Capsule (Setup as "New Network" and connected to wireless router via Ethernet WAN)
HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 All-In-One (Wireless - not wired connection - and using Wireless Direct)
I am trying to let the HP Printer be wireless only. When I run on the Comcast wireless network using the SSID and Password of our default home network (not using new Time Capsule network), I can print from all my devices (MBP, iPhone, etc) wirelessely just fine.
When I create the new Wireless network using the Time Capsule, and configure the printer with the SSID and password, I cannot connect to the printer.
Should the configuration be different in the case where I use the TC network?
I have also tried setting up the HP printer as a WPS Printer, and I had the same results...nothing.
Anyone have any advice?
Thanks!
Daniel

Do you mean at the Comcast Wireless gateway?
No .. from what you wrote the Comcast works ok .. it is the TC that is not working.
That is correct?
Is the TC in bridge mode.. but creating a wireless network?? That is how it should be connected and wireless should be different name to the comcast if you are trying to troubleshoot.
If the network name on the TC is compliant then the printer should connect..
Turn off the wireless security on the TC to see if it is the problem.
Once you complete this setup it is very important for you to reboot the whole network.. restart in correct order.. modem.. TC .. clients.. 2min gap.
Then make sure all the clients are connecting to the wireless on the TC not the wireless from the comcast.

AirPrint is an iOS 5 protocol.  It is not used on the Mac or Lion.  What you *can* do is add the wireless printer to you network and print from the mac using that.

I cant even connect to the printer on IE, Firefox I get in just fine.
I have it set to only warn of ink when printing so what fix won't work
    I noted my Firmware
    I am on Win 7 64 bit

Are you receiving any error messages when you print from the desktop? Its possible the print spooler is having issues which is not pushing the jobs to the printer. Lets restart the print spooler to get any old jobs that could be stuck in the queue removed.
    1. Press the start orb in the bottom left on the screen.
    2. Click on "Run"
    3. Type "services.msc" (without the quotes)
    4. Locate the Print Spooler service in the right column
    5. Click restart on the service link on the left
After it restarts the spooler go ahead and retry printing. Let me know if this works.
    Thanks,

  • How to Change Wi-Fi Channel Used by Wireless Direct on HP Officejet Pro 8600 Premium?

I would like to change the Wi-Fi channel that is used by Wireless Direct between my Lenovo laptop and my HP Officejet Pro 8600 Premium to reduce interference from other nearby users of Ch. 6 in my condo complex. (I am not using a wireless router setup to connect to the printer.)
Is this possible?  If so, how?

Ah... ok.  You are using the Wireless Direct with the printer.  You computer is wireless to channel 6.  That is all you can do unless you changed the router's wireless channel which will only automatically switch on your computer.

  • Waiting for printer to respond officejet pro 8600

I am suddenly getting a message when I try to print from any Microsoft Office 2010 program to my Officejet Pro 8600.  It says, "Waiting for pinter to respond".  It only flashes on the PC screen for a few seconds, but then it takes a long time for the printer to come to life and get started printing the document.
In addition, I had one Word document that was taking forever to print.  Both issues started a few days ago.  The document is mostly a drawing, with a bit of text.  It used to print just fine.  I deleted the document, made a new scan of the drawing, added the text and saved it to a new folder in case there was a problem with the destination folder.  Nothing happened.  I tried doing the same thing making it a Publisher document.  Same thing happened.  Every other document prints fine (except for the wait time for it them begin)  I uninstalled/reinstalled the printer and drivers, did a repair of the Office software.  No change.
I downloaded and ran the HP Print & Scan Doctor.  It found no problems.

    Hey @sldmsh,
Thanks again for getting back to me. After some additional digging I did find this Microsoft Support document that seems to describe what you're experiencing:
The size of the EMF spool file may become very large when you print a document that contains lots of...
There is a suggested fix under the Resolution section of the document that you can try. By enabling the 'Print directly to the printer' feature you avoid spooling print jobs.
Should the issue still occur I would recommend that you reach out to Microsoft Support for additional guidance.

  • Turning on wireless radio button HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus

I need to turn on my wireless radio button on my computer.  It has been working great until today.  I tried to use the touch screen functions and it says it is unable to because of the setup of the system admin or owner of the computer, which is me.
I have a HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus

    Hello Chris-
Try unplugging the Ethernet cable (then go into settings menu) and see if Radio light comes back on. The radio will work with a USB cable plugged in , but not with an Ethernet cable. There is a way to do a semi-full reset.  On the Touch screen, touch the bottom left ( just outside the lcd screen) 4 times. (look for a curved arrow) . You should see support menu. Touch that. Use right arrow and go to resets menu.Once at resets menu hit "OK". Arrow to the right to semi-full reset. Then hit OK. This should go back to out of box settings.

  • How do I set up wireless printing of my Officejet Pro 8500 on a laptop with Windows 8?

How do I set up wireless printing from my all in one Officejet Pro 8500 printer to my laptop with Windows 8?

You can set up your printer for wireless pretty easily if you have the Full Feature Software installed on your computer for your printer.  The setup is done as part of the installation.
Read through below, then select how you wish to proceed.  There is a video to assist - see below!
                                                               Install Printer Driver / Software
If your printer stops working (and it’s not a hardware problem), it may be due to software or driver issues.  There are tools to help you diagnose the problem and help documents to guide you to success.
You might just desire extra features for your printer, or need extra tools to help with scheduled maintenance.
In many cases, you can (re)install the Full Feature Softwarefor your printer to enhance its capabilities.  The HP Solution Center is an integrated part of the FFS.  For e-print, you will want the e-print software.
If you have the CD that came with your printer, use that to install your Printer software  -- IF the CD is compatible with your current Operating System.  If you do not have the CD, or if the software on the CD is outdated, then you can use the online installation tools.
(Re)install the basic driver or HP Printer Full Feature Software or other software for your printer:
Drivers control hardware connected to the computer (wired or wireless)
Software controls the programs that interact with the User
Go to the top of the forum page to Support and Drivers
     Officejet Pro 8500 Series
Enter your Printer Model information, and then go to Software and Drivers...
Enter your Operating System in the Drop-down menu...  Click NEXT and Scroll down
Look for category Driver - Product Installation Software
Select the appropriate Basic Driver, e-print, or Full Feature Software, as appropriate
NOTE:  You may also wish to download the Print and Scan Doctor and / or other Tools from Category - Utilities
Save the *.exe installation package(s) on your computer
Pay attention to the name and the location of the file(s) when you save the file(s).  The file(s) will likely save to the "Downloads “folder.
You may remove your existing printer software with the following tool.  Fixit is of particular use when the existing printer software is being replaced due to severe problems with the printing program.
Fixit -- Fix problems with programs that can't be installed or uninstalled
NOTE:  If you have a recent working version of the Full Feature Software on your computer, you may opt to skip removing the existing printer software in the above separate step.  During installation of your Full Feature Software, when the installer package detects the “old” printer software on your computer, the program will ask you to remove that old software:  The program will then invoke an internal printer software removal program that is written to remove printer software.  Once most of the old printer software is removed, you will be asked to Reboot your computer and log back in.  After you log in, the final bits of the old printer program(s) are deleted and the new software will be installed.  Depending on your system, the whole uninstall and install process might take as much as eight to twelve minutes.
Remember to Install the programs from Category Utilities first, if applicable, as these are smaller in size.
Install the downloaded Printer Software package last.
If you have ‘Admin’ control, you may highlight the package and “double-click” to install it, else Right-Click, Select ‘run as Administrator’ and install.
    NOTES:
If using: Download and install the driver software before connecting a USB cable.
After the initial installation is complete, be sure to check for and install any relevant updates  - check Category  - Update.  The Updates are important and can mean the difference between software that works as expected and software that does not work.
You may also wish to check for a Category named Firmware.  Installation of any package in this Catagory is personal choice and must be based on the contents in the package and whether or not your printer is working as expected.

  • Can't print wireless with my HP OfficeJet 6410 connected to Time Capsule

Today I've replaced my Netgear Rangemax 240 wireless router by a brand new Apple Time Capsule (dual band), but now I can't print any more with my HP OfficeJet 6410 All-in-One WiFi printer. I see my WiFi network in the menu of the printer and the printer 'says' that it has been connected okay, but I can't find the printer at my Bonjour printers as this functionality gives all kind of strange errors back in the Aiport Utility when I want to tick the box 'share printers via the internet using Bonjour'. I can't tick this box in the Airport Utility ....
What must or can I do to use my HP OfficeJet 6410 wireless?

Whatever magic makes HP wireless printers work is intolerant of changes like this. I think you'll have to reinstall the printer using HP's installation program. Here's a link if you don't have it:

  • Wireless connection not visible on Vista laptop using Time capsule

Change setup with Time capsule 1 TB, all MAC PC's work perfectly with wireless connection, except Vista laptop.
Vista discovers all other wireless connections except the one from Time capsule.
On advise from forum, changed Airport settings :
    - Radio mode = 802/a - 802/g"
    - Wireless security to "none"
Which other setting on Vista prevents at least discovering the wireless signal ?
    Thanks for your support !

I believe the problem has to do with some potential compatibility issue between the SP3 update and the currently installed Boot Camp drivers. Did you make sure that you (re)installed the latest Boot Camp drivers after you performed the SP3 update?

  • Create TCP/IP Printing Port for OfficeJet Pro 8600

I need to print across a hardware firewall (from wireless to wired networks, different subnet), so I need to create a standard TCP/IP printing port in Windows 7.  Does the printer use RAW on TCP port 9100 or are there other settings I need to configure?
    Thanks.

    Hello,
I see that you're having an issue with the printer not being able to print over a firewall.
I believe the easiest way to do this would be to unblock the ports rather than adding a printer through windows.
    Router settings for HP Printers
Router should be broadcasting in “G Mode only”. This normally means turning “Mixed mode” off.
For Dual Band Routers, make sure they have disabled the 5ghz band and should only be operating on 2.4ghz
    Mac filtering should be disabled
Security type should be “WPA 2 Personal”
On some routers they have a “hardware firewall”, so the below ports would need to be opened
    UDP- 5353 67 80 547 53 5222 5223 5355 137 138 139 443 427 161 514 3702 5357 445 3910 Port range: 9999 - 65535
    TCP- 445 80 68 8080 443 137 138 139 427 5222 5223 9100 445 515 161 9101 9102 9103 9110 9220 9290 9280 9500

  • Printing Faces on Officejet pro 8600 Printer

I am using WIN Vista and printing from Photoshop Elements. Why do faces sometimes print elongated from actual photo?

    Hi there,
This sounds unusual. Have you tried to print directly from within windows? If it prints ok from within windows then it points towards a print setting within Photoshop.
