Trouble with a ZEN Micro .

I've had my ZEN Micro for about 4 months, and the warranty's exspired. Does this sound like a lost cause?--A few weeks ago, it started freezing fairly frequently, but removing and then replacing the battery always did the trick. --A few days ago, this fix stopped working. It freezes on the second CREATIVE logo screen, and then makes a "ch-ch-ch" noise. --I've tried cleaning, formatting, and finally removing the firmware. --I can't get the firmware I downloaded onto the player, however, because my computer no longer recognizes that the player is hooked to the USB. Any suggestions? I'm desperate!!!!

The same thing has happened to me, I only just listened out for the strange whirring/clunking noise from the player now that you've mentioned it. I don't really know what to do either... I'm waiting upon CS to get back to me, since this is not even my original player - it's a replacement they sent to me as my first one stopped working, so hopefully they'll be able to sort something out for me?...

  • What is going on with my Zen Micro battery?

Ok, so far I have been fairly happy with my Zen Micro (only one freeze/reboot) but something is serioursly up with my battery. Yesterday, I used my Zen Micro for no more than 2 hours after a touch up charge and I had two bars left on the battery display. Then when I tried to turn it on this morning it wouldnt turn on, so I plug it into my power adaptar and it shows that my battery is completely drained! How can this be? Does the player use up battery power while the Micro is off?
The has already happened to me once. I charged my battery the first day I got it and used it for a while. Then the next morning the Micro wouldnt turn on so I plug it into the adaptar and it keeps flashing the Creative logo so I had to clean the disk.
Two different battery problems not even within the first 5 days of purchase
(I can still return it to Frys thankfully). Please tell me what is going on or I might have to just swap it for an Ipod......

Well my player has been fine after I ran the disk clean for the first time, but it is my **bleep** battery and its battery life.
Maybe I should swap in the extra battery I got. Any suggestions on how I should handle it's Like what should be my charging routine? Because when I popped in my first battery it had one bar on it and I was using it for a while, then I did a full charge and used it for a while and the next day is when I had the freeze. so for the new battery, should I pop it in and just fully charge it before using it's
::I have visited the ipodlounge and have seen alot of problems with ipod, but since there are so many Ipods out there I am not surprised. I am surprised at how many problems the Zen Micro is having without having sold as many units::

  • Trouble with Creative Zen

    Hi
I've been checking the topics for a problem similar to mine but haven't found any. I've had my creative zen for about 3 years now and have loved it. However, in the past few months I've been having trouble with it. While playing a song (either while laying stable in my car, or on my arm while working out), the player will just randomly die. I try to turn it back on, and have no luck. I then reset it by using the back of my earing, and somtimes it will start back up, and other times it won't. If it doesn't start back up right away, I'm able to plug it in to charge, and it will usually let me turn it back on after charging for a few minutes. I notice that its never on empty, and there seems to be at least half a battery level left. Some days the player will die randomly several times, or other times it will go days before I have a problem with it. I have tried to reboot it, and clear off the entire player, upgrade the firm-ware, and still have the same issue. Any ideas? Is it toast?
    Thanks!

Is the player recognised in the Device Manager, do you see it listed there (perhaps as an unknown device, or with an exclamation mark)?
Check out this knowledgebase article for some useful tips if the player isn't recognised, it'll take you through them step-by-step:

    An update...
I downloaded Apple's (rather large!) list of software updates today, and I was finally able to recognize my iPod again. I did a restore using the iPod updater from 06-2006, and all seemed to work OK. (I'm afraid to try the new one again!)
Then I tried to re-load my music library from iTunes, and got stuck. It froze up after a while and wouldn't go any further.
When I disconnected my iPod from my computer, I find 2 podcasts and nothing else, though iTunes told me it had transferred 600+ songs. Those 2 podcasts do play fine, and the basic iPod software all seems to be intact.
So -- anyone get through this connection problem and have any ideas to share??

  • Having big problems with Creative Zen Micro Photo!! I need much urgent help!

Hi. I am having a big problem with my MP3 Creative Zen Micro Photo device at the computer. Here is the thing:Before I bought this I had the regular Zen Micro & having fun with it. I had no problems with that when I used the Media Explorer to transfer songs. So I bought the Zen Micro Photo & installed it my computer. As normal I used the Media Explorer to transfer songs & pictures. So I reinstalled Windows XP at my computer, and when I installed the CD that followed to transfer new songs, the Windows said that it's an unknown thing I have connected in the USB.So I installed Service Pack & 2. I have tried to install drivers from the cd but it seems that there are no drivers on the cd! The big problem is that when I connect the MP3 to the computer, it doesn't read it's a Zen Micro, it's just unknown! So the Zen Micro Photo Media Explorer program doesn't work & I can't transfer songs or picture on it! And it just happened after I re-installed Windows on my computer. The same thing happened on my brother's computer after he re-installed windows. And when I connect the MP3 to the USB, it says that it's not a USB 2.0, but .! And I am sure it is 2.0 because it has always been like that before I re-installed windows. Also the MP3 does not re-charge when I put it my computer! The battery is just the same, it tries to do it but it doesn't. So I am using my sisters computer to charge the MP3 & transfer songs. I have tried everything but I can't seem to understand what the problem is? I have never experienced something like this before, and I really hope you can help me with this! To be honest I think what I am missing is the driver. So can someone PLEASE provide me the link for the driver? I have downloaded all those 3 on www.creative.com, but they are none of them! Also that playforsure firmawre thingy does not work because it sais that I have to connect my MP3, and it is connected already! Please reply as quick as possible! Thanks a lot for you kind help!
I have also sent this mail to creative support! But please help me I have had this problem for almost 2 months now! =(Message Edited by anakwalajinn on 05-0-2006 08:47 PM

  • Im having trouble with my zen microph

<FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#336600 size=4>Im having trouble with my new Zen Microphoto. I turned it on a couple days ago and it froze at the startup screen, and it just says creative on the screen, and you can't do anything about it. I read the faqs and product help stuff that told me to go to recovery mode and select something like clean files. I did that and it says "Scan Disk...". Ive been waiting for like 8 hours, and i need help. I have like 800 songs, so im wondering if that's the reason it is taking so long. Well if you can help me i would greatly appreciate it.

I didn't have this issue with my new ZMP but if you are using it for the very first time and this happens, bring it back to the store and get a replacement. Test it out directly at the store to avoid anymore troublesome issues.

  • VERY BIG PROBLEMS WITH MY ZEN MICRO AND MEDIASOURCE! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME! PLEASE RESPOND

Ok so a while back I had to give up my computer because it wasn't working.
I thought that with my new computer I'd be able to transfer all of my music from my zen micro onto my new computer.
Now my new computer is set up and I have installed creative mediasource and everything. I started to transfer my music from my zen onto my computer. My first 2 songs transfered successfully onto my computer. On the third song, I get this message:
"Unable to read file, file may be in use, missing, or corrupted."
I thought that maybe it was just that one song so I shrugged it off. But then it says the same thing for every single other song that i have! Only my first 2 songs out of my entire music library on my zen will transfer!!!
Please i really need your help!!!
And say that there is no hope in getting the rest of my songs to transfer and i have to download 094 songs from limewire? I'll surely be arrested for downloading that much! What should i do if i must download all of them?
And one more problem with my zen: Some of my Jump Little Children songs are doing something weird. The song will be fine and then a clip from another song will play during it! And then press next and it just keeps playing all of my Jump songs in order even though my player is on shuffle and they do the same thing with the clip from another song interupting it. Whats going on?
Most importantly though, i really need the questions answered about transfering from my zen to my computer because i'll be getting a new player soon. But this is my entire music library at stake!! PLEASE RESPOND!!!

  • Help Me, problems with my Zen Micro. (please see inside for scenar

I turned on my Zen Micro
then it is stucked at the CREATIVE LOGO
so I did the Recovery Mode
    I chose Clean Up
So a window came out that says something like are you sure you want to clean up so I chose YES.
then a window came out that says "Scan Disk or Scanning Disk"
I thought that my problem is already over
but, Oh My God! I've already been waiting for like 8 hours and the window saying "Scan Disk" is still not finish. waaaaaa!
then I thought, probably Clean Up is not the solution
    I tried Format All
then a window came out saying "Formatting"
What the! I did it like in the evening and I slept for like 0 hours to check in the morning, but still, it is still not finished.
    What is this?
I also have a problem, my computer doesn't recognize my Zen, and just to double my bad luck I lost my warranty receipt.
Oh my Lord, please help me.

    So -
I have received a message from support, stating that the player most certainly is irreparable - and instructions on how to return it to have it replaced.
It seems to me that the player harddisk is broken/damaged. This may be a result of using it while jogging/running... (in my view) It is dissapointing that the player can't handle this - which of course must be considered a fairly normal usage. I have experienced some skipping earlier, but never thought this would affect the player to such an extent.
Hopefully - this is not a fault that applies to every Zen Micro out there, although your posts may indicate that this may be an issue with several players.
    regards,
    BjOlav

  • Major audio problems with Creative Zen Micro 6Gb... need h

I have had this device for about a year and a half. about a month or 2 ago, there has been problems with the headphone jack. If the base of the headphone cord (all 20 of them i tested) moved, the audio will either go mono-tone, or play a signle layer of the audio file, or no audio at all. although when applying pressure to it, it will play well. I do NOT want to not go hands free just to enjoy my music, so please help me out!
    -Bash

Although a failed power switch is not unknown, I only recall seeing two or three other cases of this. It's not common.
If WMP isn't working with the device having v2 firmware something is wrong. Unfortunately this can be difficult to fix, but take a look here in the Zen FAQ at Nomadness.net.
MediaSource won't detect the player if there's some issue e.g. WMP0 not detecting it. You can of course also try installing Zen Micro Media Explorer (Creative Zen Micro Media Explorer Web Update to be specific) which has MTP support.
Are you are presumably under guarantee, and as you bought from an Internet store, it's best to return it direct to Creative. Contact Creative Support to arrange this.

  • Travelling with a Zen Micro (Internet Cafe

I own a Creative Zen Micro (5GB) and will be travelling for the next 2 to 3 years. I have backed up my music onto a DVD disc (in MP3 format) which I plan to use to transfer new music onto my mp3 player.
Can I transfer music from DVD (via Internet Cafe PC) to Zen Micro without the need to install any software on the Internet Cafe PC?
In summary I won't have access to 'my own' computer and will be reliant on Internet Cafe's and friend's computers. These PC's will not have Creative software installed. How do I survi've?
Alternati'vely, if I need to install software - what is the simpliest method to do this?

. Install the MTP firmware on the player. This will give you access to the player on any XP SP2 machine.
So all I require is the MTP firmware, plug it into the WinXP PC and I can transfer files via Windows Explorer?
If I format my Zen, do I only require the following file to install the correct firmware on my Zen Micro... Creative Zen Micro PlaysForSure Firmware update 2.2.02 (2.32 MB)?
    2. Use the "Removeable Storage" portion of the player and copy the drivers to the system. Once done, you would have access to your player through Windows Media Player and would leave have only a minimal effect on the computer. (You could always remove the driver when done)
With the removable storage option, will most WinXP PC's recognise my Zen Micro as a removable disk? I just need to go to Windows Explorer?

My girlfriends micro has just developed exactly the same fault and I had one exchanged under warranty last year with same problem.
Anyone have any luck with out of waranty repairs/replacements?

  • Problem with my Zen Micro's sound j

Okay, I am getting very, VERY sick of all the hassle with this litlte piece of junk.My Zen Micro has had a series of problems and, personally, I just want rid of the little beast. But, unfortunately, I'm not one of those cliche upper-class Canadian kids who can harass their parents into getting them a new one. So, I guess I just want to know if anyone's got any suggestions for me in my predicament. My Zen Micro's headphone jack recently became faulty and, as I have had multiple problems with it, I'm used to this. So I brought it back to the place I got it from and requested, very calmly, for them to ship it out for repairs. And, just my luck, that complany recently got into an argument with Creative and will no longer carry, service, or support their products. WONDERFUL.My warranty is going to be void in a matter of days and I'm very, VERY frustrated. This means they're no longer honouring my warranty, and, to me, that's just NOT COOL. I would like to stress that this is the HEADPHONE JACK AND NOT MY HEADPHONES. And, yes, I'm sure. I believe I was unlucky enough to get one of the ones where it wasn't properly sautered... and I don't know what to do about it. I guess, at this point, seeing as it seems like I'm left without any other options, I'm just gonna crack the thing open and try to fix it myself unless someone can suggest anything more logical. All I'd like from you guys is to know if anyone has had similar experiences or problems and can give me any suggestions or tell me how I might go about repairing it.

Yep, Philazen, that's it exactly. The jack is really sensiti've, and I usually end up in some really obscure position - with the cord of my headphones wrapped around my finger or a piece (or 20) of tape holding the headphone jack in a very specific place - if I want an at all reliable connection. I was told by the people who sold it to me a few months ago (only AFTER I returned my first one) that there were some faulty models of Zen Micros near the very beginning where the sound jack only had 2 pieces of sauter and let go very easily. However, it's also apparently a topic they're very touchy about and deny ever happening, but hey, at this point, I can only assume that's the case for me.Beasts indeed.

  • Problem with Creative Zen Micro software detecting certain C

    Hi,
I hope someone can help me. I recently purchased a Creative Zen Micro MP3 player. So far, I have very few complaints, apart from the fact that while travelling on the bus, it won't seem to detect any radio stations.
The problem re: the software though is that it will only detect the last track on three of my CD's. None of these CD's are damaged in any way, but all are from the same record label. Anyway, I was wondering if anybody had any tips on how I might be able to transfer these albums onto my player?
    Thanks a lot.

  • Problems with Creative zen Micro Pho

    Hello.
Today my creative zen Micro Photo came.
Eeverything works, the software, the player, but i cant put files on it. Hes loading the battery if i take the player on my USB.
But the software (Zen Micro Photo Media Explorer) doesnt recognice the player, so what shall i do?
sorry for my mad englisch, im from germany

Have you tried going into Device Manager and updating the driver for the Micro? You don't actually have to install a driver update, you can just elect to use the driver that is already installed, and Windows will attempt to refresh the pairing between the installed driver and your specific player.
