Trouble with Acrobat XI in Windows 7

I have been using Acrobat XI for some months and it stopped working in Windows 7 Premium Edition. Microsoft pop up says it is incompatable, something about EULA. I have reloaded a couple of times and disabled Macafee during the download/set up. What is happening and how can I fix it?

If you are running 11.0.0, there is a chance that updates to 11.0.2 will resolve your issue. As mentioned, the information we get from your post is not enough to say much more. The versions are useful and what you mean when you say it stopped working. That could mean so many things to us, we have no clue what might be the issue. In the meantime, try the updates if you have not done them. You might also go to Help>Repair (or Start>Control Panel>Programs & Preferences and do a repair from there.

Problems with Acrobat 8 and Windows 7 64 bit

Hi all
I need help with Acrobat 8 and Windows 7.
During the installation I'm asked to locate the file AdobePDF.dll on the disk. Selected the file in C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 8.0\Acrobat\Xtras\AdobePDF\AMD64.
The installation finishes without any other problem.
The problem arises when I want to create a pdf from a Word document. I'm using Office 2007. When I select he option to create a pdf from a file, I get message in the attached image.
If I try to used the Adobe PDF printer from within Word, nothing happes. The small printer icon apprears in the Windows task bar, but that is all. If I double click on the icon, I can see the print job, but that's all. There is no dialog box that asks me to save the file.
Assistance will be apppreciated.

Acrobat 8 is not certified for Win7, particularly the x64 version. If you got the installation to go, the first step is to update AA8 to at least AA8.2. The x64 with XP required at least AA8.2 and I suspect that has not changed. I would suggest updating to the latest, either from the help menu (until no more updates are available) or by downloading the updates from the adobe.com>downloads page. For the latter, download ALL updates after your current version and install them in ORDER. They are not cummulative in most cases. You only need to reboot after the final update. The updates may get you going. If not, you may simply have to upgrade to AA9 or search for what others have been able to do in your situation.

Activation problem with Acrobat V7 on Windows Vista

I recently purchased a new computer with Windows Vista Home Edition pre-loaded. I then installed my Acrobat Version 7 software which had been installed and operating trouble-free on my old Windows XP machine. Everything seemed to install OK but then when I tried to use the software an automatic pop-up appeared saying I could not activate the product because I was not logged on as the Administrator. When I check my user identity in Vista I am logged on as the Administrator and I am the only user.
When I then tried to activate by phone the Adobe individual was clueless as to what the problem was except to say there are compatibility problems with V7 & Vista and suggesting I hand over another $99 to upgrade to V9 - something I am not enthused about since I already paid $299 only 2 years ago.
Suggestions?

Vista requires AA8.1 at a minimum. I think that a few have gotten AA7 to work, but it is not supported by Adobe on VISTA. I know that is not good news, but it may be that you will be unsuccessful. At the very least, expect to have to print to file and open distiller to complete the conversion. I think that AcroTray is one of the major problems with the use on VISTA.
Hopefully someone might stop by that has successfully gotten over the registration problem you are having, and possibly gotten AA7 to work in some sense on VISTA, but do not be surprised if there are no takers. Good luck.

Trouble with Acrobat 9 Pro and Lotus Notes

I have an client, running Windows 7 Pro with M$ Office 2007 Pro, Lotus Notes 9 and Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro.
My problem is, that I am not able to initiate an e-mail-based review.
I can't choose an adressbook, it always says that there is no connection to the e-mail-program.
Also if I enter an valid e-mail-adress this message appears.
Lotus Notes 9 is set as the standard mail program in windows.
I hope, you can understand my problem and you can help me.

Hi Christian,
Please set Outlook as default mail client and see if review can be initiated successfully or not.
Also note that, Lotus notes 9 is not officially supported with Acrobat 9.

LINK TROUBLE WITH ACROBAT 8 PRO

I am in Win XP Pro with Acrobat 8 Pro, working out of a word processing program (WP) with a text that has some 4-line url's, such as

When I print this wp file to pdf and create links in the pdf file, the above url is not recognized or truncated - it does not work while 1- and 2-line url's work fine. Now if I resort to Tools > Advanced Editing > Link tool, just putting a frame around the url does not work either, until I select "open a web page" where Acrobat asks me for the link again, and I have to paste it in even though it already is in the pdf. Of course, I can just create a small "clickable window" and use the link tool on it, but I still have to paste in the 4 lines. So in my document, I have to shuttle 50 times between Acrobat and WP, copying the link from the latter and then pasting it into pdf, laboriously, one by one.
Is there not a better way?
My second problem is that once the Link Tool is checked, the little hand with the W for recognizing links is inoperative, and I haved to close Acrobat and restart - then everything is fine. Clicking on any of the other tools does not seem to help.

Actually, your links are probably not embedded as you think, but just is Acrobat seeing something that looks like a link and marking it as such. It has problems when multiple lines are included due to the line structure. I am not sure that WP has the PDF Maker capability that gives the links. If you can embed PDF Marks in your WP file (probably as an EPS file like used to be done for transitions), you may be able to transfer the link that way - probably easier to just create it in the PDF. Adding the PDF Marks is basically what PDF Maker does for WORD. I don't remember if WP has the PDF Maker capabilities with Acrobat.

Trouble with itunes ipod and windows vista

I just got a new computer with windows vista home premium (32bit) and i am having trouble syncing my ipod with itunes.
when i connect the ipod it asks me if i want to scan and fix the drive, if i click continue without scanning it sometimes wont let me sync, and if it does it only gets about half my music on there before saying it is unable to write to it (unknown error 53)

I have a similar problem, with my new iPod Touch crashing an XP Professional setup. It's worth noting that the Apple article also talks about potential USB conflicts with other devices on the system that might have bad drivers. They say the solution, if that is the fault, is to make sure all your USB drivers are good. I'll try that, by a process of elimination, before re-installing iTunes (as I thought I had the latest version and I don't have Vista). I'll come back here later to report the outcome.
(serious if your iPod crashed your PC - can't even charge its battery ! )

Trouble with acrobat 8.1.7 update

I downlod the last update for acrobat pro 8.1.7, no problem for install, but after running acrobat it is impossible to print any docs (under acrobat) ? Window XP switch on DEP (Data Execution Prevention) and even I try to remove DEP the problem is the same. Is someone have the seame thing with this update ?

The DEP error occur when I have clcked OK on the print dialog, little print window appear in %, stay about 5 s at 0% than the DEP occur.
So I tell you that, but I have installed the 9th Acrobat version .... no printer error nor DEP !!!

Trouble with Headphones and speakers Windows 7

Whenever I am in a voice call using skype, the sound from other programs ex. Google Crhome iTunes ect. will play out of my speakers, I tried disabling my speakers but then the sound did not play at all. How can I get sound to play out of my headphones and my headphones only? I am running Windows 7 64-bit on an HP pavilion g7.

You’re having a problem with sound coming from speaker and headphones at the same time.
You can reset BIOS defaults. This will correct the problem with the hardware and software working together.
Turn off the computer.
As you turn it back on tap the F10 key. This will load BIOS setup utility.
Press F9 to load defaults
Press F10 to save and exit.
When the computer boots back up, check to see if everything is working.
You can uninstall the audio driver and reinstall.
You might need to completely reinstall 7.
On the other unit that you updated to windows 7 was it also running XP?

Trouble with Deskjet 612C and Windows 7

I have an HP Deskjet 612C that has a parallel connection only. I have new WINDOWS 7 computer with only USB ports.The printer prints fine & I have several spare cartridges that cost a some bucks. I therefore bought a Parallel to USB cable hoping it would solve the problem. When I attached the cable, Windows responded by recognizing it (good) & announced that it was installed correctly (good). I saw the printer in devices & printers (good) & set it as my default printer. However, when I try to print something, all I get are two pages with a single line of garbage text.
Is there a simple solution to this

Unfortunately Captivate 4 wasn't created with Windows 7 in mind. Some folks here claim to be able to use it quite successfully. I fall into the camp where it refused to work.
Sounds like you may be in this category too. Bummer that.
The only way I can coax Captivate 4 to work on my own Windows 7 (Ultimate-64 Bit version) was to install the Windows XP Mode Virtual Machine and install it there. But that also means I cannot capture outside of the VM. In order to capture anything in Windows 7, I had to acquire and install Captivate 5.

Trouble with Captivate 4 and Windows 7

My office just migrated to Windows 7 (64 bit) and when I try to run Captivate 4 I get the attached error message and Captivate does not capture. I logged in as administrator and I still cannot run the program successfully. Any suggestions?

Trouble with downloading itunes in windows 7 pro

Trouble with the Open Browser Window behavior

I have a page with thumbnail images. I want to be able to
click the thumbnail and have a new window open with just that image
in the window. If I don't assign a link to the thumbnail, and
select the Open Browser Window behavior, the only 3 options for
when to open the window are onLoad, onError, or onAbort. I want it
to be opened onClick. If I do assign a link to the image, and then
select the Open Browser Window behavior, it gives me the option to
open the window onClick. However, when I test it, it opens 2 new
windows - the one I want, and the one that is the link that I
assigned to the image.
I can't figure this out! Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

You must always do the following when applying behaviors to
images:
1. Assign a link to the image first, even if it is a null
link. Use the
Property inspector to do this.
2. Click on the image in Design view, then click on the
<a> tag that you
see on the Tag inspector bar at the bottom of the document
pane so that the
anchor tag is selected.
3. Now apply your behavior.
You *can* usually truncate this process as follows -
1. Select the image in Design view and make sure that
<img> is selected on
the Tag selector bar.
2. Apply the behavior.
3. Use the behavior panel to set the event desired to
<A> onClick, or <A>
onMouseOver, or any of the appropriate "<A>" containing
items in the list.

Troubles with client certificates in Windows Phone 8.1 WebViews

Hi,
I'm having difficulties using a client certificate in Windows Phone 8.1 WebViews.
My code works fine in my Windows 8.1 App but i get a WebErrorStatus=[CertificateIsInvalid] in WebView.NavigationCompleted in WP.
I'm using this code to import my certificate :

I have no problem using this cert in HttpClient with either Windows 8.1 or Windows Phone 8.1.
I don't understand why it doesn't work with the WebView control only on Windows Phone.

Tried it with no success.

Phone 8.1, there is no such “automatic” selection of the certificate and one MUST provide the certificate programmatically.
Since there seems to be nothing to attach a custom HttpBaseProtocolFilter to a WebView, it doesn't seem possible atm.
