Trouble with amazon and screen locking the app with voiceover

Hey,
This is really bugging me, when I want to listen to a book in my amazon kindle app. I can't seem to screen lock my ipod touch, so that I can put it in a pocket or something instead of carrying it around, does anyone know how to screen lock or screen curtain the screen, so that it doesn't go weird. Thanks for your time.

Yes, I agree with this 100% - when listening, I can be doing other things, not looking at the screen. I figure 100% of the people using kindle portable devices are in agreement. My iPhone has a cover, but now I have bought yet a second case to put the first case in so that it covers the screen. But this is certainly not the optimum solution.

was wondering if nokia maps available for nokia e6 would receive in the nearest future more visible buttons to press. It look like as if it was taken from smaller screens and put just there in the device. On the other hand, this problem could be solved by picking your destination with a voice command.
As a start it would be nice even to set it manually for a favoruite location that would give a such combination "drive...wroclaw home", the device then would ask, if the location is proper (like in picking a phone number) and 'if yes' then it would lunch nokia maps with picking the best route to destination so you don't bother with buttons. Something like launching apps with command line.
And finally a third thing. Is there a way for the nokia e6 not to have screen locked after some time? Because when I'm driving a long distance, the screen lights up for about 10 minutes, then it goes off (because there is no turn for a few km, and have the backround light set to optimised) and then, when I want to wake the screen up to see the road ahead, I see the unlock bar....very funny during a 120km/h speed.
Maybe there is a way around to turn off pernamently the screen to lock (because the only options I see is from 1 minute to 5 minutes but no 'disabled' option).

Yes, but when daily plan is that you need to go for 2 hours somwhere by car, than still make some calls, some emails and such then get back the same day you may not have the time to charge the battery.
Don't get me wrong I know that I can plug it in into my cars socket and charge it, but then again I hate cables stretched all over the cabin. Besides I want for my navi just to support me and it is a waste of energy just to have the screen on all the time. At least for me...

Xfce4: Problems with Sound and Screen Locking on ASUS G53S

I recently installed Arch for the first time, and decided to use xfce4 for my desktop environment. Everything seems to work well after I followed the instructions given in the wiki, except for the sound and screen-locking functionality. Regarding the sound, I made sure that my user account is added to the audio group, and installed the gstreamer1.0-base-plugins and gstreamer1.0-good-plugins packages. The xfce4-mixer applet starts up without any warnings and recognizes the available devices, but I am still not able to hear any sound. The "Lock Screen" applet simply does nothing upon being clicked. Do you have any ideas as to what I should try in order to fix these problems?

To be able to lock the screen you have to install and configure a screen locker or screen saver, e.g. xscreensaver, slock, i3lock, maybe combined with xautolock. When you use a screen locker and not xscreensaver, XFCE might not recognize it. Then create a symlink in /usr/local/bin/xflock4 or use a shellscript if you need to pass parameters.
My configuration: xautolock with i3lock. /usr/local/bin/xflock4 is this executable shellscript:
#!/bin/sh
xautolock -locknow
xautolock is started in the XFCE autostart with this commandline: xautolock -locker 'i3lock -d -i ~/Bilder/arch/arch-linux-lock.png'
PS: If you like i3lock and need user switching capabilities, I can give you a patch where Ctrl-S calls a custom command (gdmflexiserver by default)

TS3297 Anybody else having issues connecting to the App Store after iOS 6.0 update? I am using an iPod 4th gen and am having issues with a blank screen on the App Store.

Icloud backup not working..despite "plugged in with WiFi and screen locked...

iphone 4 with iOS7. Despite being plugged in and on WiFi and "locked" it's up to seven weeks now that I keep getting message that it hasn't been backed up. Is there some special "lock" that I don't get? Didn't the old lock switch on upper left change at some time. Do I have to use this?

Some time in the future (Starbucks Tweeted the other day "by the end of the month") the Starbucks app will be Passbook enabled. When that time comes, you will log into the app with your credentials, select your Starbucks card, and you should be given an opportunity to add that card to Passbook at that time. From there, whenever you walk into a Starbucks the alert will be displayed on the lock screen, just slide your finger across the the alert and show your card to pay.
Now, I have not seen the new app, of course, so I am just speculating based on how the Walgreens, Fandango and Target apps work. Also, I am not sure yet if this will work in any Starbucks, or just the one that you consider your favorite, or primary location. Again, that is just based on how the other apps seem to work. We'll see.

Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

It is really annoying as sometimes the phone doesn't respond to attempts to end the call before it connects to the number. I then have to explain that it was my phone and not me, I look like an idiot, which I don't really need any extra help with!! Does anyone have any ideas? I don't want to stop missed call from showing in the locked screen but it might be associated with the failed calls and therefore be the only resolution

I have had the same issue which was driving me mad but think I have just found a way around it. In iOS 7 if you swipe up on the lock screen to access quick settings and go into timer then click the home button you get into the phone without calling the person back. Not a great 'fix' but hope it works for you. Come on Apple this isn't good enough, fix this bug otherwise you will lose your customers.

I have deleted the app and reinstalled it from the Apple store and that makes no difference. I have also done a hard reboot on my iPad with no result.

I figured out how to fix the flashing yellow screen problem that I've been having on my MBP! Yessssss!!!
I found this super handy website with the golden answer: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
I followed the instructions on this page and here's what I did:
Resetting NVRAM / PRAM
Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
I went through the 6 steps above twice, just to make sure I got rid of whatever stuff was holding up my bootup process. Since I did that, my MBP boots up just like normal. No flashing yellow screen anymore!!

Apps are always tied to the ID that was used to purchase them originally. Did you try entering your old password and see if that works?
If you need to sign out of your old account go to Settings>Store>Tap on your ID and sign out. Sign in with the new one.
you can also access your ID in the featured tab of the App Store. Swipe to the bottom of the screen and you will find it there as well.

Which applications are you talking about?
Example: Browser application - At the bottom right corner of a browser window you will see a small square with 3 diagnal lines. Place your cursor in that corner to stretch out your window to full screen. The next time you open your browser app, the window will be full screen.
