"Trouble" with app store downloads

Starting a few days ago, I started getting the following message the first time I enter my password to download an app every day (and just the first time I try to log in every day):
"Unable to purchase
"the-name-of-free-app-I-downloaded" and 4 other items could not be purchased at this time. Please try again later.
OK"
It started when I tried to download some stupid free app called "ican-print" (it doesn't seem like it was a problem with the app, since it began before the app was even successfully downloaded). It popped up with an odd message which I don't recall exactly, but it was either the same message as the quoted above, or similar to it, and now the first time I enter my password everyday, I see that message.
I think my wifi dropped off right as it was starting the app download, which confused the iPod. When the connection was restored, I was able to retry the download, and it worked fine (poopy app though), but it's like my iPod thinks I was never able to download it.
Regarding the part where it says "and 4 other items", that number has been slowly (and curiously) rising over the past couple weeks. I've downloaded dozens of apps in that time, but while it (presumably) started without saying "and X other items", it soon changed to "1 other items", through where it is today, at 4. The wifi has not dropped off during an app download since, so the additional "and others" notification is not because I keep losing connections, but sometimes it's just another number higher.
Despite what it's saying, it's always able to download the app, and isn't really malfunctioning at all...  Other than an annoying (and somewhat troublesome) notification the first time I log in each day.
I took a picture of the notification this morning, and could upload the pic if anyone thinks that might help (although I quoted it word for word).
Thanks in advance guys....  Sorry for the long winded, occasionally redundant post, I just want to make sure I impart any potentially pertinent information.

I am having a problem downloading apps to my iPhone4 with OS5.1.1 It takes a few minutes, stops halfway through, and says unable to download. This started last week sometime. But I can download apps fine through my computer. This is highly annoying even does it when I just try to update. Please help! :( I also took a screenshot of the message.

Anyone having trouble with App Store install and cloud store buttons not working after 6.1 update? I go to install an app. I hit install and nothing happens. About a minute later it asks me for my password and then it does nothing. The install button goes back to saying install. However the app shows up in my installed list and in cloud but no app installed.

OK - I found a helpful post - closed app store app and under Settings/General/Date and Time I reset the date and time by switching off "Set Automatically" and then switching it on again. Went back to App Store, launched it and Updatesseems to be working again.

  • Im having trouble with app store it says Im logged on but when I tru to Download something a different account pops up and I cant Seem to log out from that account how am I supposed to Download or update my Apps if dont have the password?

I tryed resetting my phone but it did'nt work tryed kogging out and log inn aganon but my app store still shoes a different account and cøas a password I dont have.. What shall I do?

If you are being prompted for the password for a different Apple ID when you update apps, it's because you have one or more apps on your phone that was purchased with that ID.  Apps and their updates are permanently tied to the ID used to purchase them.  The only way to stop this prompt is to delete the app(s) that were purchased with this ID from your phone.

  • Anyone else having trouble with app store

I've been trying to login to the app store on my iphone tonight, so I can update some apps. Everytime I login, or attempt to it does nothing. No prompt telling me I entered my password incorrectly, nothing. Then it still shows that I have 2 updates. Also I am unable to sign in to download new apps. Any ideas?

must be something with the app store, b/c my touch is doing the same thing

  • Trouble with app store

Hey, i'm having a problem with the mac app store. Whenever i try to download anything or sign in i get connection failed, yet my itunes store login still works. Why is this?

I am having this problem too with my Macbook.  I am trying to get to the featured page in the App Store.  When I select App Store from the Apple Menu the application opens but says "One Moment Please Connecting to iTunes".  I have to physically sign in using my Apple ID and Password, then it just sets there and the circle next to my Apple ID name goes round and round.  I can sign in to the App Store from my Imac using the same wireless network.

  • Problem with App Stor download

I think I'm seeing the same problem as several others in the forum, I'm unable to get a Mavericks download started.
    The process goes something like:
    1. Open App Store
    2. Click on the "Free Upgrade" button on the Mavericks screen.
    3. Button turns green and says "Install App"
    4. Click on the Install App and I get a sign-in to the App Store
    5. Enter password and then I get the "Downloading" icon in Launchpad - it says "waiting".
    6. I wait for a few minutes then on the App Store screen I get "OS X Mavericks failed to download.  Use the Purchases page to try again".
    7. GoTo 1.
    I've tried:
Log Out of OS X & Log In and try again.
    Restart laptop
Set debug mode for App Store and "Reset Application"
Deleted the com.apple.appstore folder to clear the previous downloads
Go to App Store, choose display hidden downloads and delete Mavericks (and a few wierd old Mountain Lion downloads) (I assume that's what the X does).
I'm out of ideas - deos anyone have any further suggestions?
    Thanks!
    Rgds
    Jim

When I initially tried to download, it failed and forced a reboot. I tried several times to kick off the upgrade again and it seemed to just ignore the download after I clicked to upgrade and logged in.
I took the advice above and looked for the icon on launch pad. It was paused. I clicked on it and now it has resumed downloading. Thank you!

  • Having trouble with App Store Updates on iPhone 4

My App Store icon on my iPhone 4 shows 4 updates to be done. When I click on App Store and Updates nothing happens. All other options (Featured/TopCharts/Search etc.) work fine. Just updates seems to hang - no message received. I recently upgraded to ios 6.1. Anyone else experiencing update problems? Any ideas how to fix. Have tried rebooting the phone. No change. Also tried syncing to iTunes on my Mac - synced OK but did not fix the updates problem.

What happens when you try to buy something, does the 'buy' button not work, do you get any error messages ... ?
If you are getting a message to contact iTunes Support then you can do so via this link and ask them for help (we are fellow users here on these forums) : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • Are App Store Downloads Disk Images?

Pardon the ignorance but I have never used the App Store.
I assumed that the apps you downloaded would be in the form of disk images (.dmg) but something I read recently suggested that this wasn't the case and the apps were simply downloaded and automatically installed on your computer rather like Software Updates in Leopard and SL.
If this is the case, it appears that if your computer is erased or replaced, the app will need downloading again, which I assume will be easy (and free!) as the App Store should have the record of the original sale.
    Is that correct?
However, you are usually allowed to have one copy on a desktop and another on a laptop. How does one go about that?
If the app is a simple self-contained one it should be easy enough to drag and drop it to the second computer, but that won't work with more complex apps that use various "hidden" files or folders.
I have always made backup hard copies (DVDs) of all my apps for obvious security reasons and it appears that this will no longer be possible . . . . or will it?
Software Updates can be copied by whipping them out of the Updates folder before they have a chance to be intalled (and the installer deleted).
    Can a similar technique be used with App Store downloads . . . . . . . . or is that something I shouldn't be asking?

    Hi,
If you need to re download an app follow the instructions here.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
You can download the same app to multiple Macs without extra charge.
Updates for apps you download from the MAS will be available in the top of the MAS window, not from Software Update. Reason being, they are from third party developers, not Apple.
Always a good idea to backup any apps you install from the MAS to an external source for easy reinstall in case you need to reformat the drive they are stored on.

  • ITunes and App Store downloading trouble

I recently bought an iphone 5c and I'm having trouble with apps and music. Whenever I buy a song it asks me for my id and password and when it finally goes thru it begins to download then comes up with an error before it finished and continues to do so. Eventually, since it won't download, the song isn't in my downloads but when I'm in the store the song says it's purchased but I can't download. As far as apps go they just don't even show up

  • I am having trouble with app updates on my iOS 5 iPhone never getting beyond the "waiting" state.

I am having trouble with app updates on my iOS 5 iPhone never getting beyond the "waiting" state. I have tried signing out/in of my account, rebooting and removing/re-installing the apps.  This started shortly after going to iOS 5 but I am not certain if that is related.  All updates that I try now are stuck in "waiting".  I also tried removing the apps and then installing via iTunes desktop sync with no improvement.  The only thing that I have not tried so far is a restore to a prior iPhone backup.  I have not been able to find anything to indciate what the updates on waiting on.  There is plenty of space on the iPhone (16gb available).  Any suggestions on what to try next?

    Hello there, Missy.
First thing I would recommend is to check your downloads queue to make sure there is not an interrupted download per the following Knowledge Base article:
iTunes: How to resume interrupted iTunes Store downloads
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1725
If your download was interrupted using your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
    1. From the Home screen, tap the iTunes app.
    2. For iPhone or iPod touch, tap More > Downloads. For iPad, tap Downloads.
    3. Enter your account name and password if prompted.
    4. Tap the blue download arrow to resume.
If you can't complete the download on your iOS device, you can download it in iTunes on your Mac or PC and then sync it to your iOS device. You can also transfer purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer.
For Apps, you can also try tapping on the application icon to resume the download, as outline in this featured discussion:
App updates won't download on my...: Apple Support Communities
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4111336
Try tapping the App, so that it changes to Paused instead of Waiting, then tap it again to resume the install.
Make sure you don't have any paused downloads in other apps either, like the App Store or iTunes Store.
If that doesn't do it, try resetting or restoring the iPhone.

  • I had trouble with a iTunes download.  Two songs of an album were not complete.  I contacted iTunes and yawl post the the download again.  My iTunes now has the complete copies.  The trouble is my iPhone will not accept/sync the complete copies.  What up?

I had trouble with a iTunes download.  Two songs of an album were not complete.  I contacted iTunes and they redownloaded the tunes.  My iTunes now has the complete copies.  The trouble is my iPhone will not accept/sync the complete copies.  It will only play the original incomplete copies of these songs.  I've made new playlists and made sure I had the correct items checked to backup/sync.  Still only the incomplete copies are played via the iPhone.  What's up?  What can I do to get to the iPhone to sync the correct version?

    - Are you saying that they are not listed in your Purchased section?
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    - Are they listed in your Puchases history when you log into your account on your computer?
    - Are they still available now for purchase? If not then you are out of luck
If they are still available and listed in your Puchase History then contact iTunes

  • When I go to update my software using the app store download, it always asks for the previous user's ID, not mine.  Please help!

When I go to update my software using the app store download, it always asks for the previous user's ID, not mine (my IT guy at school's-I am a faculty with admin priviledges).  I have signed in as me, have set the main preferences login user as me,and everywhere on the laptop I can use my apple ID except here.  It always shows me a greyed out ID of my IT.  How can I reset this to my ID? It doesn't give me an option to change the user ID, only a link to reset password.  I reset it, but it did not change the problem.  Can someone help me?

It's not an ID problem, it's an ownership problem.
When someone uses their personal Apple ID to buy and download content, the content is licensed to them and has their Apple ID engrained in it's DNA. It is an anti-piracy program. And when that personal Apple ID is used to setup a new Mac, it involves the Mac itself, the shipping OS and any pre-installed apps as well.
It's not the correct way to handle Macs that belong to a business or an institution. And had it been handled correctly they would not now be in this predictument needing a drastic remedy.
