Trouble with Apple ID and iCloud's "Back to My Mac"

Hi,
I just upgraded to Mountain Lion. The first time I turn my Mac on, the System Preferences window opens on iCloud preferences. Everything seems sormal, except that the "Back to My Mac" option can't be activated because it asks me my password.
The problem is that it asks me to enter the Apple ID password for an older Apple ID email instead of my current Apple ID email
Some background: I used to have ([email protected]) as my Apple ID, but changed it to ([email protected]) some time ago. Back to My Mac is asking me the password for the oldemail@email Apple ID, which should not exist anymore
I tried the "forgot" option, but no email is sent to neither [email protected] nor [email protected] and if i try the "answer security question", I enter my birth date, but it says its doesnt match te records...
Thanks for your help!

iCloud is not what I was hoping it would be.
Disappointed is an understatement.

  • TS3999 Help! Trouble with my calendar and icloud.

    I am having trouble with my calendar and icloud.
    Customers send me meeting invites and I can accept them no problem. But if they subsequently change the date or time I get an error message:
    Access to “appointment name” in “Home” in account “iCloud” is not permitted.
    The server responded:
    “403”
    to operation CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation
    sometimes the time changes in my calendar, sometimes it doesn't, and my customers keep getting messages back from icloud 'accepting' the original date, not the changed date!!
    It is driving me an my clients crazy!  any help would be appreciated.

    I had a problem specific to the Calendar on web-based Firefox (PC) Was asked for a separate sign-in I'd never seen before which didn't work. I resolved this by signing out, signing in again.

  • HT1766 Hello, I'm trying to back my Iphone 5 up and it's asking for my passcode which I can't enter into my phone because my screen is smashed? Is there another way around it? I have an appointment with Apple tomorrow and need to back it up ASAP. Thanks.

    Hello, I have a smashed (just front screen, screen works but is green and liney) Iphone 5 that is totally unusable. I'm trying to back my phone up before my appointment with Apple tomorrow but it keeps asking me to unlock my phone which I can not do! Is there another way around this? Really don't want to lose my photos. Thanks.

    There's no way around it other than to back it up using the computer you normally sync with. If you haven't been syncing/backing up on a regular basis, you're hosed.

  • Trouble with reminders syncing and iCloud

    I couldn't get Reminders to sync with iCal via USB/iTunes. So I thought maybe Apple, despite making everything syncable via iTunes in the past, had broken with this pattern and made it so Reminders only works through iCloud. (Is this true? I hope not.) So I turned on iCloud for Calendars, which led to my iCal to-dos getting synced to my iPod, but my iPod Reminders still aren't synced with iCal. So that's one problem I'm trying to solve. Furthermore, now I can't seem to turn *off* iCloud without losing all my calendars. Is Apple trying to force me to use iCloud forever now, just because I gave it a test run? I guess I can export all my calendars, turn off iCloud, then re-import, but it seems like it shouldn't be that hard. Am I missing something? Any thoughts or advice on any of these issues would be appreciated.

    I finally found another thread that answers part of my question: https://discussions.apple.com/message/16339884#16339884. Apparently Reminders syncing is allowed only through iCloud.

  • TS2972 having trouble with ring tone and or ring back tones...i followed all directions and cant access ring tone from my play list.

    having trouble with ringtone and ringback tones ..i followed all directions for home sharing.  does anyone have a real solution???

    Hello sairdoor123
    From what I understand the issue seems to be with the hardware, obviously since the phone was dropped that could cause undesired results.
    If all your data is backed up to a computer then I would recommend doing a hard reset: http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=887
    If a hard reset is done then I would caution you with the following choices:  ( Should I have the audio circuit repaired as suggested by one of the repair guys? Or would that be risky?) - I would say this is risky because the person repairing the devise could easily sodder the wrong part of the hardware.
    If you really do think repairing the circuit board is more cost effective then I would recommend researching all your possible repair shops before doing any work. Make sure they have the credentials and experiences.
    Hopefully things work out for you.

  • Trouble with Apple ID for iCloud, iMessage on 2 iPads, etc.

    When my sister and I got our iPad 2's, a few years ago, we set up an iCloud account along with my own iTunes account that I've had for several years. Around May 2012, I decided to update my iTunes account information and since then, everything has been downhill. I was unable to access my iTunes account and ended up having to create a new one. I emailed and spoke with an Apple representative, but the issue was never resolved. I've talked with people numerous times about the issue, but nothing ever came of it. As of recently, I've been unable to access my new iCloud account and tonight I reset the password. Now, both my sister and I are unable to access the iCloud account and our iMessage accounts. I have no idea what to do and I'm at a loss for who to speak with about my problems. If anyone has any information or advice, I'd be grateful to hear of it.
    Thanks,
    K Herbert

    Having multiple apple accounts is a pain for most people. My suggestion is to organize them if you can and then for simplicity sake to setup the same password. Now that is the theory - life is a bit more complex. You need to sit down. Write down what your apple ids are and attempt to reset your passwords for all of them. Ironically system that setup by Apple gives you more flexibility than people from Apple support have.
    Passwords can be reset at appleid.apple.com - if you succeed write them down and check if they work.
    If you don't try to get someone to help you and if that someone failed - call Apple - do not expect miracles(they are just as human as you, but know nothing about your situation) and be prepared to prove that you are the owner of
    the accounts in question.

  • Troubles with Outlook calendar and icloud

    I just uninstalled icloud from my pc after it messed up Outlook. Now all my existing calendar dates have migrated to the "icloud calendar" and have left the original calendar that I created. How do I get the dates back to the original calendar?

    You'll have to copy them from one to the other, or restore your backup file.

  • ICloud's "Back to My Mac" Crawls after 10.7.3 update

    Before I upgraded all of my systems (MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac Pro) to 10.7.3 I was able to have very fast mouse responsiveness and graphics updates using vnc:// and iCloud's "Back to My Mac" when connecting to any of my Macs in various offices. Over Cable/DSL links and on fast campus networks, I never had problems before with using iCloud's "Back to My Mac". However, since the latest 10.7.3 update, all of my vnc:// and "Back to My Mac" sessions have slowed down to a crawl, literally. Mouse clicks are unresponsive. Screen updates are delayed and infrequent. I've tried both Adaptive Quality and Full Quality, both are equally terrible. Please help fix this once monumentally useful tool from the iCloud suite so that I can continue working remotely from home. Thanks.
    ps, It was recommended on "Mac OS Ken's" podcast to download and install the 10.7.3 update using the 10.7.3 (client combo), available via download from http://support.apple.com/downloads. Updating using this method did not fix my problems. Please advise.

    Launch the Console application by entering the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search, and select "system.log" from the file list. Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the times of the log messages referring to boot times. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the time of the most recent boot when you had the problem. Look for error messages in the minutes before that time, and post them here -- the text, please, not a screenshot. Edit out excessive repeats, if any. Do the same with kernel.log.
    If the logs don't go back far enough in time, scroll down in the Console file list to /private/var/log/system.log.0.bz2 and /private/var/log/kernel.log.0.bz2. Search those archived logs, and if necessary the older ones below them, for the same information.
    Also in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the most recent one, if any. For privacy’s sake, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please do not post shutdownStall or hang logs -- they're very long and not helpful.

    i downloaded the icloud to my pc it says to login with apple id and it says it is a valid apple id but not cloud but i cannot get the control panel for icloud to come up to set it up on my pc which runs windows 8

    An update.
    From iCloud Control Panel 2.1.1 for Windows
    "iCloud Control Panel 2.1 and later includes support for Windows 8"
    but you still need to set it up on a Mac or iOS device, "Note: To create an iCloud account you need an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 5 or later, or a Mac with OS X Lion v10.7.5 or later."

    Did you actually watch the movie? You get 30 days in which to view it and if you didn't watch it, that could be why you are getting that message. If you have watched the movie and you're sure that is has expired by now, contact iTunes Store Support and seek their help.
    Change the country in the upper left. - and click on Purchases, billing and redemption to proceed.

  • TS3276 I have installed OS X Mavericks on macbook pro, macbook air & iMac but I am having terrible trouble with apple Mail. I need to take all accounts online frequently OR worse I have to quit mail and restart computer. Is anyone else having problems?

    I have installed OS X Mavericks on macbook pro, macbook air & iMac but I am having terrible trouble with apple Mail. I need to take all accounts online frequently OR worse I have to quit mail and restart computer. Is anyone else having problems?

    I just checked to see if the update to OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 solved any of the issues outlined in my previous post, and to my dismay, nothing has changed -- all of the previous problems persist.
    My iMac (8) -- it's renamed itself eight times since the recent troubleshoot with the Apple tech rep -- shows up as a shared device in Finder on my MacBook Pro, but when I click on it, I cannot establish a connection using "Connect As".  So I've attempted to connect using the menu "Go/Connect to Server...", using both (alternately) the iMac's name and IP address, to no avail.  I get a message which reads: "There was a problem connecting to the server 'Peter's iMac (8)'. This server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time.  Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again."
    Here's what I know:
    The server -- Peter's iMac (8) does exist;
    The server -- Peter's iMac (8) is available at this time;
    The server name -- Peter's iMac (8) -- is correct, as specified in the system sharing preferences;
    The server IP address is correct, as specified in the system sharing preferences;
    The network connection is active when I attempt to connect.
    I'm convinced the problems stem directly from the OS X Yosemite update.  None of this was ever remotely an issue in the previous OS X's -- any of them.  This is maddening!  What can be done?  Apple?? Anyone???

  • HT201269 My Apple ID and icloud ID are being used on 2 different iphones. I can't figure out how to seperate them completely. Can someone help me with this?

    I have somehow linked my Apple ID and icloud ID to 2 different iphones. I need help on how to disconnect one of the iphones from my ID and give it a new one. Hopefully without losing all of the saved information on the phone (contacts, pictures, etc)
    Can anyone help me with this?

    Hey shelldolfin,
    Thanks for the question. To disassociate a phone from your Apple ID and iCloud account, simply sign out of the following services:
    - Settings > iCloud (When prompted, opt to keep the information on your phone)
    - Settings > Messages > Send & Receive
    - Settings > FaceTime
    - Settings > iTunes & App Store
    For further information, see this related article. While it refers to what to do after you change your Apple ID, you can use the helpful information to achieve your end goal:
