Trouble with Apple Mail retrieving Yahoo Mail (OS 10.10-Yosemite)

I recently installed Yosemite and Apple/Mac Mail will not work or retrieve my yahoo mail. I can receive my gmail just fine. I've checked all of my settings, used the "mail doctor", taken the account offline and then online again, rebuilt the mailbox and tried to synchronize the account. Nothing seems to work. Oddly enough the program seems to work intermittently (it worked for a few days when I first installed Yosemite then stopped retrieving my yahoo mail and again randomly over this past weekend, but is now back to not pulling any yahoo email). I can read my yahoo emails online just fine, fyi. I would love it if anyone had any suggestions.
PS: I've also downloaded another mail client, called Postbox, which retrieves my yahoo mail just fine, but the program is severely limited and very quirky (search function doesn't work well, difficult to view and arrange your email without it having problems, etc.).

jgallag/Larry:
I, too, have been having this problem with yahoo mail not loading into mac mail.  It has been a persistent problem that I have had to close my mail program and reopen to get emails to come in - this was way before yosemite.  But after upgrading to yosemite, I've had more troubling issues.  I have 2 yahoo mail accounts, a primary account and a special use account.  Right after loading the new upgrade, the special use account was unable to send emails via mac mail.  I could send them from the yahoo server online, and from my iphone, but not from my laptop (mac air).  Two days ago, emails stopped loading into the mac mail program primary yahoo account.  I could send emails, but I could not receive them.  I tried all of the things you also did and suggested, to no avail.  I have found that shutting the system down and rebooting was enough in the past to "wake up" the yahoo account/mac mail account interface, but not this time.  This time, it took moving the laptop to another state and another server to refresh the connection and permit emails to load (I headed out for a business trip today, and emails came in when I reached the hotel).  I did not turn off my computer, just put it in sleep mode during the flight, but apparently a change of scenery is what it wanted.  It would be nice if Larry or someone could either fix this problem or help us navigate through it more efficiently - two days is too long to not load any emails.

  • Not able to edit Yahoo Mail address book. Okay with Apple Safari's Yahoo Mail but not with Firefox's,

    Editing a contact in Yahoo Mail it always just "hangs" (doing nothing) when I am using Firefox. Editing the same account using Apple's Safari browser went through without any problem. It seems that Firefox interface with Yahoo caused this.

    Just found the answer (it's a reported bug) and a likely solution!
    Instead of dragging the group over to the 'To' box in a new email, the suggestion was to just start typing the name of the group. So far it seems to be working!!!

  • Trouble with Apple ID verification e-mail

    I am wanting to set up the "Track my IPhone" app and add a second Mac to my devices in Icloud, but it keeps telling me to verify my account. I have sent the verifcation e-mail about 10 times now and each time when it says "Verify Now>" there is no link for me to click on. Has anyone else had this issue and if so how did you fix it? Any help would be appreciated.

    There's a way to retrieve your email verification link if this happens to you:
    1. Open the the blank email
    2. Hit ctrl+U- this will bring up the source code for the original email. Even though you cant see it showing up its still there.
    3. Scroll down towards the bottom of the source code to line 524-
    4. Slowly scroll to right and you will see the "Dear *Your Name*
    5. On line 525 a bit to the left of that you will see : "You recently initiated a password reset for your Apple ID. To complete the process, click the link below. "
    6. The link is on line 526 and begins with <a href="https://iforgot.apple.com/verify/ema- etc.
    7. Copy that link into a new internet window and hit enter- *Do Not Click the Link*
    This should allow you to get to the reset password screen and finish the process. As long as it is still in the time frame from when the email was sent. I think 1hour.  This worked for me, I was using a pc at the time though, didn't try it on a mac. Let me know if this helps you. Apple let me know if I can have a job!

    How do I add a desktop link to additional email accounts?  I have one email account as my safari home page because it has trouble with apple mail, but I want a one-click link on my desktop that takes me to two other email accounts.

    Can you set up a rule in your old account to forward mail to your new account and then delete it from the old account?

  • TS3276 I have installed OS X Mavericks on macbook pro, macbook air & iMac but I am having terrible trouble with apple Mail. I need to take all accounts online frequently OR worse I have to quit mail and restart computer. Is anyone else having problems?

    I have installed OS X Mavericks on macbook pro, macbook air & iMac but I am having terrible trouble with apple Mail. I need to take all accounts online frequently OR worse I have to quit mail and restart computer. Is anyone else having problems?

    I just checked to see if the update to OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 solved any of the issues outlined in my previous post, and to my dismay, nothing has changed -- all of the previous problems persist.
    My iMac (8) -- it's renamed itself eight times since the recent troubleshoot with the Apple tech rep -- shows up as a shared device in Finder on my MacBook Pro, but when I click on it, I cannot establish a connection using "Connect As".  So I've attempted to connect using the menu "Go/Connect to Server...", using both (alternately) the iMac's name and IP address, to no avail.  I get a message which reads: "There was a problem connecting to the server 'Peter's iMac (8)'. This server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time.  Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again."
    Here's what I know:
    The server -- Peter's iMac (8) does exist;
    The server -- Peter's iMac (8) is available at this time;
    The server name -- Peter's iMac (8) -- is correct, as specified in the system sharing preferences;
    The server IP address is correct, as specified in the system sharing preferences;
    The network connection is active when I attempt to connect.
    I'm convinced the problems stem directly from the OS X Yosemite update.  None of this was ever remotely an issue in the previous OS X's -- any of them.  This is maddening!  What can be done?  Apple?? Anyone???

  • Hello, I have trouble with apple Mail 7 in Maverick.

    Hello! I have trouble with Apple Mail 7 in Maverick. I use account type = Exchange. The proble m is that I keep loosing email in my inbox and also in my sent box. They then have to be rebuilt, and because I have lots of emails in the server, it takes several days to rebuild. This never happened in the previous version of apple mail that I used (snow leopard). Any suggestions to fix this problem? Thanks

    Cant get help with this issue on Apple Support, so I have to go to the Apple store to the Genius Bar to get assistance.  All the help issues are so technical in their jargon, that I cannot understand how to fix the issue.

  • Trouble with Apple Mail

    Hello,
    I have Gmail account and a couple of days ago, I tried to send an email via Apple mail. E-mail size was too big so I couldn't send it. Afterwards, it created 'recovered message file' into the apple mail. Since then, gmail cannot connect Apple mail anymore and I cannot check my email via Apple mail. Could you please inform me how to solve this problem? or is it possible to delete and import again my gmail mail account into the Apple mail?
    Thank you

    Sure. Just hit the "-" button under accounts in the preferences window in Mail.app to delete your gmail account. Then quit out of Mail.app, restart it, and try creating your gmail account again. Help on how to create IMAP account for gmail is available online via the help section of the gmail.com web site.

  • After updating to iOS 5, I cannot retrieve Yahoo Mail

    After updating to iOS 5, I cannot retrieve up to date Yahoo Mail.  It successfully connects.  But it only shows some old emails.  Nothing current.  I've deleted the Yahoo connector and recreated it.  Same thing.  I know I have new emails waiting in my Yahoo Inbox, yet they're not showing on my iPhone.
    Any ideas?

    I fixed Yahoo Mail on my 3GS with iOS 5:  In Settings, "Mail, Contacts, Calendars", I reduced "Show" to "50 Recent Messages"
    It had been set to "200 Recent Messages"
    I also have an Exchange and MobileMe account setup on the phone.
    I guess that there is not enough memory or something with iOS 5 on some devices to hold 200 Recent Messages from multiple accounts.
    Hope this helps!

  • Can I Sync Apple Mail to Yahoo Mail Plus?

    I have the upgraded Yahoo Mail with POP. I have successfully accessed my yahoo mail from my apple MAIL app. But it seems to only pull things from Yahoo Mail in one direction.....but not acknowledge any actions taken within MAIL app, like Deleting messages, etc. It is not a TRUE "Sync". Any tips? Is this even possible?

    Yahoo! Mail does not sync with anything, since they don't offer IMAP service. If you want, and need IMAP service, you can use MobileMe or Gmail, although in my experience very few people actually have a good reason to use IMAP.

  • "Open link in new tab" not working with Safari and new Yahoo Mail won't open in new tabs.  Yahoo says it is a Safari issue.  I don't think so.

    Any ideas?
    Works fine in classic Yahoo mail.  But in the "new" Yahoo mail, there is not even an option to open in new tab when I right click the message to be opened.  Interestingly enough, I can right click open to new tab on any other link on the same page that the emails are listed in.
    Anyone encounter this?  Have a solution?
    Thanks.

    From your Safari menu bar click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 7 buttons, click Reset.
    If that didn't help, try troubleshooting the Safari .plist file.
    Quit Safari.
    Open a Finder window. Select your Home Folder in the Sidebar on the left. It has a small house icon. Then open the Library folder then the Preferences folder.
    Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop. Relaunch Safari. Try Yahoo / tabs. If it functions as it should, move the .plist file to the Trash. Otherwise move it back to the Preferences folder.
    And check Safari / Preferences - Extensions. If you have any installed, turn that off, quit then relaunch Safari. Try again.

  • TS3276 Help in setting Apple Mail to receive and send mail via Yahoo mail service

    I would appreciate help in setting up Apple Mail to receive and send e-mails via Yahoo.   Thank you

    Sorry,
    Have you tried the connection doctor? In Mail menu bar under Window connection doctor, this will usually let you know where the problem might be.

  • How can I sync iPhone "Notes" with Notes Folder in Yahoo Mail Plus Account?

    I am trying to sync my iPhone 3gs "Notes" (ios 5.0.1) with my Yahoo Mail Plus Account.  In "Settings", "Mail, Contacts, Calendars", "Yahoo Mail" Account , the "Notes" button is turned ON.  When I open my Yahoo Mail Account on my PC, a "Notes" Folder has been created, but it is EMPTY.
    How can I get the data in my iPhone Notes application to show up in my Yahoo Mail Plus "Notes" Folder?
    Message was edited by: marose0001

    There is now a separate Notes application. It is not part of Mail.

  • Apple Mail and Yahoo - Mail shows as opened in Yahoo?

    I have Gmail and Yahoo mail accounts.  When I open my Apple mail, all my Yahoo messages show as opened; Gmail does not.  Is there a configuration I can perform to correct this problem?  I'd like it to function like Gmail, Exchange or iCloud.  Suggestions?

    dddog,
    Are you accessing the Yahoo email or the email on your computer as POP3?
    If so this article would apply:
