Trouble with Applet loading

hi, new to java; after a mind-boggling and frustrating exercise of finally getting the 'Hello World' application to execute using DOS command, I am now stuck with the applet version/
The html file written in note pad is saved in the same directory as the HelloWorldApp.java and the HelloWorldApp.class which I had initially used when running from DOS/
from what I understand, I have to include the "HelloWorldApp.class" file within the applet as tag/
after i execute the html file in the browser(Internet Explorer), all I get is a greyish square with no writing inside of it/
please keep in mind i'm new at this and not very technicaly inclined at times, so don't say anything like, "the exe. file tags within the path of the ini. is a variable inside the memory location x0x0x0x0x which has to over-written with a command...."
please help, appreciated :)

Trouble with iTunes loading on my mac running OSX 10.9.2

Lately every time I go to load iTunes, I get a "not Responding" causing me to Force Quit. It seems crazy that this should be a recurring problem. I diligently update everytime something shows up as available. I am getting tired of seeing the "color wheel" spin and spin. Anyone out there with the same/similar problem. But better yet any solutions?

Log out or restart the computer and try again. If there's no change, see below.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

Trouble with applet tutorial about servers

I downloaded the sources of this (http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/deployment/applet/clientExample.html) example and am trying to make them work. However I'm having trouble with the server program.It compiles fine but when I run it I get NullPointerException in QuoteServerThread class on this line:
packet = new DatagramPacket(buf, 256);buf is a byte array and it's set to null.
I don't have any experience with networking in java so if the problem is something really simple you'll know why I didn't find it.

byte[] buf = new byte[ 256 ];Other problems may happen if this sample was not tested properly.
The problem is that the DatagramPacket requires you to supply a non-null buffer, as per:
DatagramPacket
public DatagramPacket(byte[] buf, int length)
Constructs a DatagramPacket for receiving packets of length length.
The length argument must be less than or equal to buf.length.
Parameters:
buf - buffer for holding the incoming datagram.
length - the number of bytes to read.

Having trouble with website loading(Believe its Lion Related)

Hello All,
I have a website I goto to view Ford Manuals about my car, the website is www.iihs.net/fsm/?dir=0 . Here is what is strange, I have been using this website for several years to access PDF files. I tried going to this site on my brand new Mac Air and was unable to gain access to the pdf, I get a missing plug in message on the right side of the page. I then went to my Mac Book Pro that I know Ive accessed the page from and it did the same thing. The only thing I am able to pinpoint it on is, I upgraded to Lion and dont think I have tried accessing the page since upgrading a few months ago. I was on the phone with Apple Tech Support for over and hour, he downloaded Adobe reader,Google Chrome,Firefox and he was unable to get the pdf files to open. Knowing that Ive been able to access these pdf pages previously, I told the representative I was going to try and load it on my iPad. BAM!!!!!!! The page loads fine on my iPad, I told the representative and we both then tried with our iPhones, BAM!!! Same thing, pdfs load and display. I am convinced that this has to do with Lion, I have loaded the PDFs before with no problems. Ive never had to download a plug in or change a setting on my computer.
Does anybody have any ideas or able to offer help ?

Problem with Applet load

I can't load an applet in my page .
Ocuur an error
java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError
message: unsupported major.minor versoin 48.0

Also, when I try to view a sample applet on I.explorer
6, a window to download java VM pops up. I click it
and it directs me to a page to update my Microsoft
VM?!It sounds like you have Microsofts VM enabled in your browser. This will not work with Java 1.4, and would explain the Class Version Error.
I am confused. Do i need both VM's to run java?No, the browser will only use the one that it is currently set to use. The MS VM is old and does not support Java 2. You'll need to install or at least activate the Java 1.4 Plugin.
And how do I know that my plug-in is working or not?Go to your Control Panel from the Start Menu and you should see an icon for the plugin. On the 'Browser' tab, make sure the IE checkbox is checked.
If you do not see the icon, it means that you need to install the plugin. Get it at: http://java.sun.com/getjava/

Problems with applet loading in web browser

I am using IE 6, and the JRE is 1.4.2 the problem I am facing is, in my application applet is not getting loaded.. I treid with JRE 1.5 and even JRE 1.4.1. in both cases its working .. but with JRE 1.4.2.. its giving the problem.. can some one please give the reason why it is happening so. and provide me some solution??

What happens when you try to load without any date mask? Does it get rejected? May be you should request your upstream system to send the date values in similar format?.
If there are going to be only two formats i.e.,DD-MON-YY and DD/MM/YY then you can use decode function. something like below
"decode(instr(:order_date,'-'),0,to_date(:order_date,'DD/MM/YY'),to_date(:order_date,'DD-MON-YY'))"Post the code which you tried. I dont have acces to database at home so the above code snippet is not tested.

Trouble with ACR loading

Hi,
Because PSE 11 suddenly stopped editing my images, and after exhausting other avenues, I uninstalled and re-installed the PSE 11 program. The plug-in for ACR is version 7.1. I have tried downloading the most recent, 8.3 but failed. I then tried to download the 7.3 version which covers my new Canon EOS 6D, but again the plug-in version is only coming up with 7.1. I have full functionality in Organizer/Editor for my old camera images but the error message tells me that the current plug-in does not support my new camera.
I have been going around in circles for the past day trying to fix this problem. PSE was working perfectly with my new camera images until the weekend.
Can anyone point me towards the correct procedure for downloading ACR and ensuring that it is the default plug-in to convert raw images?

Thanks, but I tried this route and the Adobe Application Manger Updates opened but it is spinning its wheels searching for updates for more than an hour. I minimised the screen and peek every once in a while in hope...
I did manage to download updates such as 8.3 and 7.3 but I do not know where they disappeared on my computer. Other advice on the support page of Adobe suggests that the filepath for plugins is to be found under Program Files/common files/Adobe.

Trouble with applet

here is my problem. i am trying to make an apllet, specifically AnimateMultiple from the book Instant Java, to work on my computer. i have tried using ie 5.5 and netscape 6.1 with no avail. all i get is 4 pictures without any animation. please help.

Trouble with iMac Loading

Hi, I was trying to copy a photo from iPhoto to the desktop. I wasn't sure if I should drag it to the desktop and instead double-clicked on the photo, chose "Select All" and tried pasting it to the Desktop. Suddenly it appeared to be trying to copy all the photos to the desktop and froze with the color wheel turning. I then powered off. I've tried starting up holding down "option" and selecting the Mac Hard Drive and also "Option, Apple, P, R", but I get the same thing: The top bar and desktop background are displayed and I can move the mouse but can't click on anything. Sometimes the mouse arrow is just a mouse arrow and sometimes it is the spinning color wheel. Hard drive icon won't appear. Any ideas? Thanks, Tim

To avoid using the windowing system, which may be dysfunctional, I would boot into safe mode, open up a Terminal.app from the utilties and do the following:
1. Enter the following command to see how much drive space you have left:
df -k
This will list all the mounted partitions. Some of them will be system partitions but you want to pay attention to the one that you "knew" as your own hard drive. On the right side it will be a column that says "Capicity". If this says something more than 90% you've probably discovered your problem.
2. If that is the problem (i.e. you've run out of disk space) you could enter the following sequence of commands to start deleting some of the files you copied to your desktop:
cd Desktop
ls -l|more
ls -l|more (that's all "el's" with a vertical bar to pipe it to the more command) will allow you to scroll through the list of files by hitting the space bar. The left hand column will have a format like drwxr-xr-x or -rw-r--r--. If it starts with "d" it's a directory (folder) so you probably shouldn't delete it, if it doesn't it's likely file. The next 2 columns will show the Unix user ID and group, the next is the file size, followed by the date, then the name of the file. I would think you would want to look for HUGE files like movies.
To delete the files, enter the following command
rm filename
For example, if you found a 1GB video named "BigMovie.mp4" then you would remove it with:
rm BigMovie.mp4
Keep in mind I have no idea if you copied out of iPhoto or extracted out of iPhoto (because I'm not sure specifically what you did). Extracting would mean it would take it out of iPhoto and put it on your Desktop. I doubt you did that or you wouldn't be running out of space.
If you are out of space you may need to sit there and keep doing this (removing files) until you free up enough space to get the thing working at least somewhat normally. Another thing that may help is this command:
sudo rm /var/vm/sleepimage
The sleepimage file is the EXACT size of the memory in your system. It's a snapshot taken by the system of RAM contents when the unit goes to sleep. That should free up a few GB instantly, unless it was deleted by the system (which is possible) at which point it will report that there's "No such file or directory."
Keep in mind I'm assuming you've run out of drive space. That doesn't mean that's the problem. If possible, another option might be to try and boot it from another drive and clean up your system as needed.

after downloading latest version of LION I have had trouble with my email boxes on my mac.

Make sure that you allow pages to choose their colors and that you haven't enabled High Contrast in the Accessibility settings.

If images are missing then check that you aren't blocking images from some domains.

*Check the "Tools > Page Info > Media" tab for blocked images (scroll through all the images with the cursor Down key).
If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.
Make sure that you do not block third-party images, the permissions.default.images pref should be 1.

There are also extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and security software (firewall, anti-virus) that can block images.

Troubles with xmp files not loading...

I'm having troubles with xmp files not loading with images but are present in the image folders. does anyone know why this is happening and if there is a way to fix this. Also when trying to load the xmp individually they are grayed out and unable to load. I have tried this on different machines (Macs) and still no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated in this issue.

Aww, yuck!! That's a real drag...
When editing lots of files (yesterday's shoot produced 8GB) I back everything up to off-line storage and then, after doing all my edits and crops in ACR, I only have to copy over the small XMP files which takes no time at all.
So if I re-edit the DNG with ACR I have to re-copy ALL the files again to the off-line storage.
I used to sometimes even save 2 versions of the xmp files when I needed 2 different crops of the same images, such as doing a wide screen 'cinema' crop for a corporate client's Intranet presentation of their event, as well as more standard crops to be used for their newsletters.
Guess I won't be using DNG any more..

DW MX trouble with loading PDF files

I'm using Dreamweaver MX on an XP Pro machine and have
trouble loading pdf documents to my web pages. It cooperates
intermittently. I'm using a virtual pdf printer to convert word
documents to pdf, then saving them to my website folder, selecting
the linking text on my page in DW, using the link box to select my
pdf document, then saving the page and putting files in both the
local and remote views.
This method has worked for me before, and now it's not. Does
anyone know of a reason for this? The documents are saved
correctly, as I can get them to open as pdf outside of dreamweaver
and my webpage...when I click on the link I created online I get
"page not found."

I am having the same trouble with Dreamweaver MX 2004 on
Mac-OSX since I switched from MacOs9. I still have no solution .
When I want to export a .pdf file I get a message saying <ftp
error>.
I never had problems on Mac Os 9 and it started when using
the first version of Mac Os X. I am presently using mac Os 10.4.10
and I am still unable to transfer .pdf files, no matter whether I
use acrobat or the Mac system to produce the.pdf file.
When I try the page on my computer the link to the.pdf file
functions allright, but not on the server as the file cannot be
transfered to it by the software.
Does someone know how to solve this ?
