Trouble with booklet printing -- InDesign CC 2014

I'm having trouble printing booklet with new CC 2014. I print to postscript, but then PDF is not correct.  I see it's using Acrobat 8 driver;  how do I change that to Acrobat XI?

Peter, I was/am having trouble explaining my trouble, so I am going to tell you what happened to me yesterday... This booklet printing issue started with me uninstalling my old Acrobat 8.... since I run XI Pro -- because it caught my eye, too, that now I, like many other CC users, have three (3) sets of software on my computer. So I got Acrobat 8 uninstalled, but then had to go back to work, and postposed dealing with the other CC program uninstalls. Yes, I am using CC to run my business.... lost 6 hours yesterday trying to cope with computer issues. So, I'm heading into InDesign to print a production file for a 24-page booklet for a client on a deadline, only to find out the ID CC 2014 is still looking for Acrobat 8, or my Epson printer. The only other option in the postscript print menu at that point is "device independent", which does not allow for page setup, hence the pdf (saved from the postscript file) comes out completely wrong. (showing a standard portrait letter page setup for a now landscape ledger size document)
It took me 3 hours of search to find a post from 2012(!) that lead me to believe that if I could install (manually!...never done it before) a pdf9 PPD into the new ID CC 2014 Present folder it might just work. In fact, I had to manually program a brand new version of a software, which I've never done before -- I am not even close to a software engineer.
I still don't understand why ID CC 2014 is not looking/routed to Acrobat Pro. But then the previous CC didn't either. It was running on Acrobat 8 PPD too.
I manually built a 24-page printable booklet yesterday. Lost 6 hours of billable time. (installed pdf9PPD at midnight last night... I'll stay in business.) I see dozens of extensions in Extension Manager for ID CC 2014. Have no idea which one I would need, if any, to fix this issue, or where to install them.
Thanks for listening! And for the follow up.

  • Trouble with Booklet Printing in OSX 10.6

    I recently ran an update for OSX 10.6 and ever since then, when I select the booklet print function, the print image does not rotate. In other words, the preview shows the document in a landscape format, but rotated to print as portrait. However, when I print it, the image is still in landscape but has not rotated, leaving a third of the image off of the page. (I have attached a pdf of what the output looks like.)
    Has anyone had the same issue? Any help would be appreciated.
    I use a OCE (Konica Minolta) copier with the latest print driver, however when I print with my VMware in Windows in Publisher, it prints my booklets correctly. I have the same problem using CS3 and CS5.

    10.6.5 introduced a couple of printing issues that have mostly been solved. We have a couple of Konicas but they use either Fiery in the case of the 8000 and Creo in the case of the BizHub for RIPping.
    One the Bizhub with the Creo rip we would get a similar error when printing directly from the driver, but printing to the hold queue and setting the printing properties from the RIP would correct it. Run through the exact same settings to the print queue and get an error.
    If you are using InDesign's Print Booklet feature one potential workaround would be to create a pdf with VipRiser VipRiser « Onflapp's Blog
    Acrobat probably won't have that printing issue. If it does you could potentially just drop the PDF into a hot folder (assuming you have a separate RIP on the Konica. Otherwise a less than elegant way to get around it for the time being would be to print from your windows VM.

    Setup your document at 8.5 X 11 and then to create a booklet, use the Booklet Printing feature (File > Print Booklet).

  • Trouble with findig printer with Bonjour (HP all in one printer)

    Hi,
    I have a problem with connecting to my HP Printer.
    When the printer and the iMac is booted freshly I can connect to the printer without any problems, also I can find the printer trought the printer browser via Bonjour.
    But after a while the connection is completely lost with the printer, the only way I can connect to the printer is by IP, the dns name (http://HPxxxx.local.) is also not working anymore.
    The only solution is turning off the printer and putting it on again, even sometimes I have to restart the iMac.
    Is it possible a new installed wireless modem/router is cousing this odd behaviour ? Because it looked like the trouble whas coming after the new router was installed.
    When I ping to the printer I can see there are some timeouts from time to time and when the timeouts take too long, the result is that I can't find the printer trough Bonjour anymore.
    Thanks!

    Hi cowla1,
    I understand you need the drivers for the HP 6500A on a Mac. I can help you but will need some more information.
    I have provided a link for the drivers up to 10.8. The 10.9 drivers show the documentation to run the Apple Updates for the driver install. HP Officejet 6500A e-All-in-One Printer - E710a Drivers.
    Select your operating system, click next and click on the software to download and install.
    Make sure when you add the printer, it shows the printer name and not the printer name + Airprint.
    What operating system are you using? Mac OS X: How Do I Find Which Mac OS X Version Is on My Computer?
    How is the printer connected? (USB/Ethernet/Wireless)
    Please provide in detail the results if you are still having issues.

  • Having trouble with Color Swatches - InDesign CS5 to CS6

    This may be a repeat - I'm not sure I posted properly the first time.
    Having trouble with the Swatches in CS6. When I add our institution's colors, they look dull/gray in CS6. I know it's not just my screens because I created a quick EPS in CS5 for comparison. When I add the EPS file to my doc, the colors pop into the Swatches box but they are clearly different colors. The most remarkable is Pantone 484, which used to be a bright scarlet. Now it's a strange, dull mauve.
    I took a screen shot to show a colleague with more experience, but he's stumped. There are very few of us that use InDesign on our campus and we're all self taught. Our tech folks usually come to US for solutions.
    I did try the instructions under "Display or Output Spot Colors Using Lab Values" in the Help menu, but nothing changed. That seemed to be the only applicable FAQ that I could find on my own.
    Here is the relevant chunk of the screenshot I took - can anyone see what's gone wrong? Color blocks are "old" colors, next to Swatches which show the "new" hues.
    Thanks for any help!

  • Trouble with HP printer and network

    Just upgraded to SL on my MBA. I have a small office network with only a few computers and 2 HP printers. They're both old, one HP Color Laserjet 4600n and one HP Laserjet 4000TN. I've been printing to both of them for over 1 yr on MBA with Leopard (10.5). 10.6 does away with appletalk, so I install the first printer, HP4000, through IP protocol with HP Jetdirect Socket. I input the printer's IP address, SL finds it and installs perfectly, no problems. But the MBA now cannot see the HP 4600. I find the printer's IP (192.2.2.188) and input it into the add printer (IP protocol) boxes and it cannot find the printer. I tried using the terminal and "pinging" the printer at that IP address and it cannot find it. So my MBA is not communicating with the printer somehow. I know the cables work, I know other computers (PCs) can find and print to the HP 4600. I can't figure it out. Please help!

    I am having the same problem. I first hooked up my old printer; an HP 7760 deskjet. It printed fine for a day or two. Then it just stopped and it would say "jobs stopped." I kept clicking on "start jobs," but it just wouldn't print. It would go back to "jobs stopped."
    I reinstalled 3 times. On the third time it worked and I started printing again. After 5 or 6 print jobs, it stopped again.
    I decided to hook up the HP that I bought when I bought the new iMAC G-5. The HP Deskjet 5740 began printing right away with no problems..... until the next morning. Back to the same "jobs stopped" problems! I can't seem to get any answers. Some have suggested that using the new OS X v10.4 Tiger is too new and I need to download new drivers. I tried that, but I wasn't able to get the new drivers installed.
    Super frustrating!

  • Trouble with Ordering Prints

    I have adobe photoshop elements 7.  When I try to Order Prints, I get the little picture that says I should wait while it downloads the shorts I've selected, then I get a blank, white screen with Order Prints in the upper left corner.
    I had been successfully ordering prints with Shutterfly using this function all along.  Suddenly, it's not working.  What can I do to fix it?

    Yes, I'm still having the problem.  I've attached a picture of the screen
    shot.
    I had a problem several month ago that required reloading the Elements 7
    organizer.  Is it possible that this screen shot is occurring because
    somehow reloading the organizer erased my connection to Shutterfly?
    If so, how would I reestablish that connection?

  • Trouble with IPP printing

    i added a printer to my list with IPP protocol (with IP address, no queue). After i sent a job to this printer, the job was stopped.
    i set IPP protocol enable on Web page.
    Printer driver is RICOH Aficio CX9000.
    others, how to set the higest priority for ipp (for example, set '0' for ipp)
    any ideas? Thanks in advance.

    greg sahli, thanks for your help.
    i only has one printer, and want to add it to my list by ipp. In the operation of adding it, set its ip address and give it a queue name. The printer is in the LAN, not connected to internet. Is that ok? Any other settings should be done?
    Look for the queue name in the docs that come with
    the printer. L1, P1, lp, lp1 are common ones.
    Experiment - start with lp.
    About "docs" and "L1, P1, lp, lp1", i can't understand well.
    Could you explain them for me?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Trouble with Footnotes in InDesign 5.5

    Can someone help?
    I am designing a book that has approx. 1000 footnotes. I have the 500+ page book split into 4 separate files to save on memory/file size. My first pass through the design went smoothly, with no errors at all. I am currently working through the author's first batch of changes and the files are freezing up on me almost every page. I am able to "force quit" and not  lose anything, but that cannot be good for the file integrity!
    I am not able to tell exactly when or why this is happening, except that it seems to have something to do with when InDesign needs to move the footnotes from one page to the next.
    The problem is intermittent - sometimes I can work pages and pages with no freezes, sometimes it takes me a half hour to get one correction made! It's making me crazy - and fearful I will never get this project done (without having to completely redesign it!)
    Footnotes are a must for this client, so I am actually considering manually adding the footnotes. PLEASE tell me if you know of another way to solve this problem?

    Thanks, again, Peter!
    Your comment about frames gave me the idea to just delete the troublesome frames as I came upon them and that seemed to work. Delete a page/delete a frame, reflow the text. With that trick, I was able to finish the first round of revisions to the book this morning!
    I really (really, really) can't tell you how great it was to get your advice on this!! And so quickly. It kept me hopeful I could find a resolution without having to redesign the whole project - and I learned some new tricks in the process.
    Is it OK if I save this email (thread) until I am confident I've moved past this issue?  (I'm wrapping up for the day now - but will be back into this over the next week.)
    Have as great of a day as you've made mine!

  • Trouble with PIOS Printer example

    Hello gurus,
    I have a problem. I'm trying to run an example from the tutorial, the one that aply the PIOS Printer API, and it throws me an error (awfull by the way) like this:
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.sap.ip.me.api.pios.impl.connection.ConnectorImpl
    and also it said: RFID (unknown source). Now the example is trying to implemente a printer device not a RFID Reader, so i really dont know what is happening. Anybody can help me with this.
    I havent changed the code, so it is pretty much like this:
    Connector con = Connector.getInstance();
    DriverInfo[] df = con.listDrivers(ConnectionType.PRINTER);
    PrinterParameters pm = new PrinterParameters(df[0]);
    pm.setPrinterMode(PrinterParameters.GRAPHIC_MODE);
    gp = (GraphicPrinter)con.open(pm);
    String[] sfont = gp.getFontConfigurationManager().listFontNames();
    PrinterFont pf =gp.getFont(sfont[0]);
    gp.drawText(pf,10,10,"Test of my printer",0);
    gp.doPrint(1);
    gp.close();
    And the stack trace indicated me that the exception is raised at
    Connector con = Connector.getInstance();
    I've already register the app. at the webconsole and assign it to my user. and pretty much did everything the guide told me to do.
    Please its kind of urgent, somebody help me. I'll wait for your answer

  • Trouble With " Selection" Printing

    I have an HPpsc 1350 all-in-one in use with Windows XP Home Edition SP3.   Recently, when I try to "select" a paragraph or two, etc. the printing comes out with type so small it's hard to read.  This never was the case in the past, and I'm wondering if my upgrading to Internet Explorer 7 had something to do with this.  Can you possibly offer a solution?  I have tried everything I can think of to correct this.
    Thanks,
    Scotirish     1/31/09   5:30 p.m. EST

    I tried to use the HP Universal PS driver with the same result - nothing but random text that consumed far more pages than in the original document.
    To clarify my problem, I'm using an HP LaserJet 3200 with the PCL driver hanging off my Windows XP box. I'm able to map it in OS X but whenever I print I get nothing but garbage on multiple pages.
    Any additional help is greatly appreciated!

  • Having trouble with dell printer and bonjour

    Hi,
    We recently got iMac computers for our office, however we still have a windows computer we need to be able to use to print. I have the printer, a Dell 1320c, installed on my Mac, and it prints just fine.
    I also have Parallels and Windows 7 installed on my Mac. I can print just fine from within Windows (Bonjour was not needed) Curiously, when I print a Windows Test Page from within Parallels, it says that the printer name is the Dell Color Laser 1320c, however, the Printer Model says: HP Color LaserJet 2800 Series PS. I have no clue where that came from, but I wonder if that may be causing a problem.
    Within OS X 10.8.2, I have enabled Printer Sharing to everyone. I turned off sharing in Parallels, though that didn't make a difference.
    On the Windows 7 PC, I have tried to manually add the printer with TCP/IP, but it wouldn't recognize a printer. I installed Bonjour, and was able to install the Dell printer, however, when I print, I get a bunch of pages that starts like this:
    -12345X@PJL JOB MODE=PRINTER
    @PJL SET STRINGCODESET=UTF8
    @PJL COMMENT DATE=12/26/2012
    @PJL COMMENT TIME=17:02:04
    @PJL COMMENT DNAME=Test Page
    @PJL SET JOBATTR="@LUNA...........
    and so on...
    I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I saw several posts about disabling bi-directional support, but that didn't work.
    Does anyone have any ideas of what else I could try?? Thank you!

    Hi,
    No, you can't connect direcly from your computer to your printer using network cable. It has USB connection:
        http://www.cnet.com/products/hp-color-laserjet-cp1518/specs/
    I believe your Macbook Pro also hae USB port(s). Please use a cable which is similar to the follwing cable to connect them:

  • Trouble with the printer PLEASE HELP!!!!

    Hi,
    I was wondering if anyone could help me. I work at an elementary school and I was recently trying to set up one of our iMac computers with a new printer. The printer is a HP LaserJet 1320. I installed all of the drivers from the disk into the computer and it told me that I had to set up the printer in the "Desktop Printer Utilities" file. When I went to do that I found that there was no such file in the system. I was wondering if there was a way of getting the printer to work. And if so I need detailed instructions so that I can set up the printer properly for the teacher. PLEASE HELP
    Thank you very much!

    Hi, wacko179 -
    Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
    I believe they are referring to Desktop Printer Utility, which is a program, not a file. It is one of the standard OS 9 utility programs installed by default. Try doing a search on your hard drive for it - note that the spelling of its name is a bit different than the one you gave.
    If it is indeed missing, you can use the utility TomeViewer to extract (expand) any files you want from an Installation Tome on an OS 9.x Install CD or download disk image, without running the installer.
    How to use TomeViewer
    The item Desktop Printer Utility can be found in the Installation Tome located here on an OS 9.0.x Install CD - (CD) >> Software Installers >> System Software >> Mac OS 9 >> Installation Tome.
    Note that this requires the use of an original OS 9 disk named Software Install, or a retail OS 9.0 or 9.0.4 Install CD.
