Trouble with built in iSight macbook C2D late 2006

I´ve resetted my smc on my macbook, nothing happens, I´ve the same problem, "there is no cam" photobooth answered, but my systemprofiler shows the builtin isight, with win xp on my bootcamp partition it works, but only win-like. Later I´ve made the pram-reset, always the same problem, it works only on windows xp, what should I do?
Installed Software: bootcamp 1.2beta, Adobe Premiere CS3beta, Soundbooth CS3beta, Device Central CS3beta, Bridge CS3, Photoshop CS, macromedia studio mx, Avid free DV, Blender 2.42, Adobe GoLive CS, toast 6.11 and some programs for videoconversion.
I´ve not installed: I-apps, live imovie, idvd, only itunes.
For chatting: meetro. My macbook was in january 07 at an Apple-Authorized Service Provider, cause the motherboard was damaged, I´ve got a new one, but the problem with the cam, began in june 07, after some softwareupdates from apple. (I think) I´m repairing my permissions once per week, but nothing happens. I´ve read in some german forums, I must make a new installation of my tiger and then the problems are away? Howlong?
(sorry about my english, it´s only from school, 15years ago)

Your new post is a good one, alex.

Sorry your problem is not fixed.
Although it is unusual to need more than one hardware fix, I think you will need help from an Apple-Authorized Service Provider again.
However, if you want to try reinstalling your Mac OS as recommended in the other forum, my suggestions on how to do that are in this Reinstalling Mac OS X link. As explained in that linked page, how long the update takes will depend on which update method you choose.
As soon as you restart your Mac after the reinstall, repair permissions and apply the Combo Update. The Combo will update your MacBook to the latest version of Tiger in one step. Remember to repair permissions again as soon as you restart after applying the Combo Updater.
This post by Stewart Holmes suggests that taking out the battery and leaving your MacBook unplugged for a longer time than you tried previously might be worth a try:

My only remaining suggestion is that you contact Apple or your Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service. I have no other ideas.
Anybody else have help for alex ... ?

  • Macbook C2D late 2006 RAM upgrade question.

    Hello everyone,
I have a late 2006 Macbook and am planning to upgrade the RAM from 2GB to 4GB.
From what I understand, my motherboard only supports 3GB, and I'm ok with that.
    My question is:
Because 1GB will be left unused, will the OS use any of the extra GB towards my Intel GMA 950 GPU's 64MB of shared memory?
I know the machine performs better graphically with with 4GB of RAM rather than 3, I was wondering if that extra GB of RAM is just used my my GPU rather than by the computer?
Like, will I get more then 64MB of shared RAM?
Thanks for reading, and I hope someone here has the same configuration as me, has added the 4GB, and could tell me if there is any GPU upgrade with the 4GB.

No, the GMA 950 shares the 3 GB. Some have reported after testing that the MacBook is actually using 3.3 GB.

    This is from the specs.
+Memory available to Mac OS X may vary depending on graphics needs. Minimum graphics memory usage is 80MB, resulting in 944MB of system memory available on 1GB configurations.+
The 64MB is a baseline because of the GMA 950 spec. The MacBook actualluy uses more and more is assigned as needed by the graphics.

  • Power trouble/backlight/invertor/water damage (MacBook Black late 2006)

So tucking my girlfriend into bed I spilled water onto her closed (black) macbook late model 2006. Unfortunately it was turned on without drying (it initially seemed that the water didn't really get anywhere other than the top case. First and it initially worked. Then the battery displayed an (X) as opposed to a 0 percent charge which i believe indicates replacement. Then the computer would only turn on for a moment before going quickly to sleep. I dissembled the computer and air cleaned it and let it dry for a few weeks. Hard drive was not damaged, all data was recovered.
Reassembled the computer, did not notice any water damage. Computer itinitally powers up and then sleeps after 20seconds. Magsafe adapter radomly shows green, or orange, or nothing at all. Replaced Dc/in board with no change. Tried running without battery, no change. Used alternate magsafe adapter, no change. Tried reset SMC with no change. Also tried running without optical drive as this had been having issues, nothing.
As a side note, the screen is dark as if the backlight inverter is out. Could the water have shorted the inverter and cause this problem? Would a faulty heatsink cause any of these issues? Do I even need to try replacing the battery, shouldn't it be able to run without?
Thanks so much for any guidance.

My advice is to take it into an Apple Store and have a genius check it out. There is always a chance that water got into it; it could also just be a need of a new battery.

  • USB Webcam on Macbook with built-in Isight?

Has anyone been able to use an external webcam via USB on a Macbook with built-in iSight?
This should be very straight-forward, but it's not working for me. Is it possible? Thanks.

I have an older logitech 3000 and have been able to get it to work with 3rd party software such as macam and btvpro, but can't use it for Yahoo Messenger or similar programs. It won't work with photobooth either.

  • 20" Monitor with (Built-in iSight?)

As soon as Apple updates the 20" monitor with built-in iSight I will be buying one and connecting my Macbook, then retiring my iMac iSight to my wife. Hurry up Apple with the upgrade.
    Now for the technical question:
If Apple indeed adds iSight to it's line of monitors and since all the new computers Apple is building these days already have iSight built-in will my dream configuration work.
I know the external iSight works when connected, however there are minor glitches when shutting down, sleeping....

dig a little deeper next time
D/FW, there nothing to dig for. You're asking for functionality and behaviour of a product that does not exist. You're better off speculating in a rumours forum.

  • Recording with Built-in iSight

The reason I bought I didn't buy a laptop is because there were no laptops with built-in iSight back in the day. And now I want to make use of this by recording into iMovie. BUT now they tell me that I can't do that with my version of iMovie, when they specifically told me I could "record video on my computer" when I was buying it. I'm prettty mad so I was wondering if anyone can help me. I believe I have iLife '05...
    Thanks a ton..

To use the built-in iSight included with some Macintosh models, you need to have iMovie HD 6 or later.

  • Using a different webcam with Intel iMac with built-in isight cam.

Hi...I hope someone can shed some light on this.
I have an intel core duo iMac 20 with built-in isight.
I use Yahoo Messenger (the new version) and have no problems getting my isight to work with it.
For most circumstances, the built-in isight is fine... but sometimes having a camera with a zoom feature and the ability to pan further up or down would be most beneficial.
I also own a usb Logitech (pro-4000) webcam (the last series for which they have Mac support) and have installed the latest Mac drivers for it. I can get the Logitec to run its built-in applications, but when I try to select a webcam to use for Yahoo (in the yahoo preferences webcam section), the only selection available to me is the built-in isight.
Is there any way to get the option to choose between the Logitech and the isight?
Thanks for any help you can give me...

I tried macam drivers, but that just gave me an application that allowed me to record video or snap pics from my Quickcam, Yahoo Messenger still does not recognize it as a source.

  • Can I use an iMac G5 (with built-in iSight) with an external iSight as well

  • Very dark picture with built-in iSight

    Hi,
with my 3 month old intel iMac it seems that the picture I get with the built-in iSight is much darker than with my previous white iMac G5 with built-in iSight.
My new iMac sits in the very same place as my previous iMac G5, yet the picture quality in terms of brightness is only mediocre.
Is there a way for me to adjust the settings for my iSight?
Has anybody else noticed this? Could it be a hardware problem?
    Thank you,
    Torsten

Have you closed and opened Photo Booth? This is often all that is required.
    This also can help:
Open the iChat application>video preview. If it is dark as well select:
iChat>change my picture>take a snap shot. Close iChat and open Photo Booth.
I haven't found the sniper solution yet, it doesn't happen very often.

  • First iMacs with built-in iSight

I got one of the first iMacs with built in iSight. When I got it, the documentation said that I could not use the built-in iSight to record directly into iMovie.
I CANNOT choose iSight from the import options, but if I have a DV camera plugged up to import and turn it off, it automatically switches to the iSight and the Import button switches to Record from iSight. It actually works as well.
Did I automatically install an update that allowed this? I like it, I just don't know when it happened.

Anyone know how to turn off isight so Imovie will only see the DV camrea /VTR deck? I've got a school setup for Imovie editing and to capture footage from the DV tape deck, but Imovie just keeps wanting to select the Isight Cam and i see no way of telling it what to connect to!!

  • Scuff on MacBook Pro (Late 2006) non-glare screen

My otherwise pristine MacBook Pro (Late 2006 model, 2.33GhZ C2D) has developed a 1/4-inch scuff right in the middle of the screen. Small, but highly distracting, particularly when the area beneath it is white.
Can anyone recommend a product to minimize or buff it out? I've seen this stuff, but it's more for cleaning than removing scratches and scuffs:
    http://www.klearscreen.com/searchresult.aspx?CategoryID=3
I've also seen iPod scratch removers, but they seem to buff plastic out to a glossy finish, whereas this is a non-glare surface ... sigh.
    Thanks for any help!

i have an older model macbook pro late 2006, the track pad works ,the cursor works but i cannot click to any website?

    khryzpher,
your model MacBook Pro’s Apple Hardware Test comes on one of those two grey installation DVDs; it’s an essential tool for troubleshooting. You’re going to need to contact Apple directly to purchase a replacement pair for your MacBook Pro; be sure to have its serial number handy.
Your model MacBook Pro didn’t originally come with Snow Leopard installed at the factory. If you don’t have the white retail Snow Leopard DVD, then I’d also recommend that you purchase that, in case your hard drive fails and you’d like to install Snow Leopard onto its replacement.

  • Will my Macbook 13" late 2006 take the RAM from a Macbook Pro 13" 2.4 Ghz Intel Core Duo?

I have a macbook 13" late 2006 and i found it was cheaper to buy a 13" Macbook Pro 2.4 Ghz Intel Core Duo Ram, I was just wondering if the ram out of the pro model will fit my older model?

    Some basic guesses from http://www.everymac.com
    MacBook 13" Late 2006 is a MacBook2,1 and that uses PC2-5300 DDR2 667 MHz ram.
MacBook Pro 13" did not use 2.4 GHz but the first of the 13" models was the MacBook Pro7,1 and that uses PC3-8500 DDR3 1066 MHz ram.
Those are not compatible and cannot be used interchangeably.

You can install up to 6GB's of: PC5300 DDR2 667MHz 200 Pin. OWC is a good choice.
