having trouble printing via the airport extreme to a usb connected 180, whenever i send a file to print sometimes it may print if i am lucky but most of the time only a partial page prints.

Trouble with Canon 2020Adv after upgrade to Maverick

Hi
We've just upgraded to Maverick and our office Canon 2020Adv no longer even acknowledged print jobs sent to it from the Mac. I followed the comments in earlier posts re problems with Canons post Maverick upgrade and downloaded and installed the new driver. Now I can get the printer to acknowledge that a doc is being sent but it either printer gobbledygook (sorry don't know a better word for it...) from Word or takes forever "processing" and never actually prints anything from Safari....

Two possible causes for the issue you are having.
1. You are using the Postscript printer driver but your iR ADV C2020 does not have the optional Postscript printer kit. In that case, download and install the UFR 2 v10.3.0 driver

2. If you are using the UFR2 driver already, you may have created the print queue using the IPP protocol. The UFR2 driver does not support this. So remove the ADV C2020 from Printers & Scanners and add again, this time selecting HP Jetdirect-Socket for the protocol.

Trouble with canon 20d camera

Can anyone help. Since upgrading my mac to Tiger the Canon software I use for picture capture (this allows me to take a picture and adjust the camera from the computer) is not recognised, I've upgraded the driver from Canon but with no success. The mac sees the camera with the viewer utility and I can download from the camera - I just can't take or make adjustments to the camera from the mac.
Any help would be welcome,

Hi, Barry.
Is this an EOS 20D? If so, according to this page it should be compatible with Image Capture, which is in the Macintosh HD > Applications folder. Have you tried controlling the camera with Image Capture? After launching Image Capture, review its Help for details, i.e. Help > Image Capture Help.
I suspect unless someone else has a suggestion, you may want to contact Canon.

I am having trouble with Canon scanner Presto!BizCard 5 HELP

I am trying to use the Canon P-215 scanner to get my business cards to scan using the software Canon sent with the unit. The CD says BizCard 5 and the Canon rep couldn't get it to work with my MacBook Pro....said it was a disk "cleaning" issue with Apple... The Canon guy doesn't know mac...please help me use the scanner to scan business cards, has anyone used BizCard with Mac? THanks...Please Help!!

Do you have alot of apps running in background? Tap home key 2 times and there's a list across screen with icons you can deselect them by hold on one and they wiggle touch the minus button and it will deactivate them untill you use them again. Do you have the phone dim after so many seconds or minutes? Is the screen bright all time? Do you go on the Internet or watch video on phone?
These things can affect the hrs of use.

Trouble with Canon MF4370dn and Safe Mode

This printer is a real bear.
Thanks to other folks' work here, I was able to get this printer properly installed and working in Safe Mode (printing and scanning), but as soon as I restart and attempt the same operations in "regular mode," I get stuck. Printing results in "Could not open printer" error. MF Toolbox launches but won't recognize the scanner.
Printer is connected directly to Mac mini running 10.6.6 via a single usb cable. No hubs or extensions.
So what could be interfering after rebooting out of Safe Mode? So strange to me (and more than a little frustrating).

What third-party extensions or drivers do you have installed, say for other peripherals, prior printers/scanners, or incompatible plug-ins such as preference panes, startup items, etc. Check for anything that is disabled in safe mode.

Canon i80 won't print

Removing and reinstalling the printer on your computer may resolve the issue you are experiencing. You can also try removing the USB cable from the printer and the computer and then reconnecting the cable to both devices to ensure that the connections are secure, or try using a different USB cable if you have one available.

i am having trouble with the canon image browser ex.After sevearl downloads i eventually got past the 80% mark.it is now downloaded.however as soon as I click on it it opens up and then a message comnes upm saying that there is a problem and windows is searching for the problem.it then closes the oprogramme down..Any help would be appreciated

I am having the same problem and have contacted Canon, they've answered me several times with things to try but nothing they've told me to try helps. It looks like they are going shrug, scratch their heads soon and pass the buck to Microsoft or HP my comp make .

Import failed with canon 6d footage after latest update

After I updated to Final Cut X 10.0.8, I've been getting "Import Failed" messages during the import process when taking in footage from my Canon 6D
The import process also seems to be going very slow (slower than usual)
I've tried duplicating the SD card locally on the hard drive and re-importing, but have gotten the same results.
If I click OK on the error dialogue box, the import will continue. but another box will pop up every 5 to 10 minutes or so
Any ideas?

Hey Russ, it actually works fine for me too the few times I've used it but I point it out as a common denominator with people who have trouble importing that way. Separating the .mov files into their own folder eliminates the camera and card reader, both much slower than just transfering files from a connected drive. But I'm doing newspaper video with Canon DSLRs - including 5D3 video, similar to 6D - almost daily where speed is of the essence and this is by far the most foolproof method I've come across.

Troubles with effects and colors in FCPX 10.1.4

Hi to everybody.
I have a problem with colors using the effects.
Lets look at more less neutral picture (picture no 1)

If you look at the RGB Parade you see the down part of the RGB distribution is ok.
But if I start to use any effects the Parade changes in this way:

You see, that the down part of the color distribution (for all 3: red. green and blue) is cut-off, even when I use the effects which shouldn't influence on the color.
I spent some hours to find any logic, and I discovered following regularity:
1. The source movie I imported came from Nikon D7100 (.mov), 1920/1080i
2. The behavior of FCPX during the playback of those clips is crazy and ustable (few seconds like in pict.1 few second like in pic. 2).
3. I have instaled the newest versions of Nikon D7100 firmware and of course FCPX 10.1.4. I think (not 100% sure) the trouble with FCPX appeared after 10.1.4 update.
4. I don't have any troubles with other camcorder (Canon XF 100)
Did somebody have simillar effects / troubles with FCPX? Any solutions? I have a job to do, and this situation completly devastating my deadlines.

You would probably find more direct help by talking to other Nikon shooters who use FCPX. M
I don't know anything about the Nikon codec or why it might be giving you trouble while others do not but have you tried simply transcoding the footage to ProRes422? Your files will expand by a factor or three or four but you will not have these difficulties.

FINAL CUT PRO 5.1.4 Sync (Drifting) Issues shot with Canon XL2

So basically I am still having trouble with audio sync drifting and I captured the footage correctly using the 2:3:3:2 pull down 24p and 48khz. Any suggestions anyone else can give me? The last fella suggested that I should CHANGE the speed of the audio track to match up with the video track but I don't want a percentage of change in the way the audio sounds like even though it is very SMALL. Any suggestions I would very much appreciate. Thanks.

The Canon DV and FW protocols are weird.
Here's what a buddy of mine has been doing for many years:
a. Place the long clip in the timeline.
b. Unlink the audio and video tracks in the timeline.
c. Select the audio clip and scrub till the end of the sound is reached. Hopefully this is eaisly matched to the video clip. Trim to that point.
d. Select the video clip and match the outpoint to the same frame of action (helps if there's a specific sound like a clap or a notebook being closed or someone's voice). Now choose Speed and wirte down the exact length of the clip.
e. Select the audio clip and choose Speed and enter the exact time of the video clip. Render.
f. Relink the two tracks which are now exactly the same length.

Having trouble with camera profiles in LR3

Anyone having trouble with accessing the camera profiles from the drop down menu in the develop module/camera calibration section of LR3? The only choice I have is "embedded." After I created a custom with passport color checker it now only offers "profile" as a choice. ANy thoughts?

Okay, that is different. I have seen a similar discussion in another thread (I think) in the Lightroom forum. It might have been this one. It seems to have been specific to Canon cameras. I don't have an answer. Just one question, however. Are you using standard CR2 files, or are you using the sRaw format? As I was reading the other thread, I was wondering if that could have been part of the problem.

Problems with Canon i-sensys LBP7750Cdn.

I am having ongoing issues with my Canon i-sensys LBP 7750Cdn printer. PAHU kindly gave me advice to get it up and running using the UFR ii driver, however since then I have been trying to print PDF documents off the web and these will not print. Either I get nothing printed or pages are dropped from the printing. I have tried printing from preview but it doesn't have any text on the pages which come out from the printer. The only way I have been able to print is to delete the adobe internet plug-ins from the library ( on the advice of another member of the community) but then any text in the document headers or footers doesn't print properly. It comes out as letters and symbols unrelated to what should be there.
PAHU recommended postscript as being preferable when using OSX, however when I connect the printer throught the USB to the airport base and select the PS driver I can't print at all. I get an error message on the printer saying cannot start job which according to the manual means "The specified emulation does not exist." I'n not sure what this means.
I would really like to be able to print pdf of f the web in their entirety, and just have my printer functioning fully. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The cupstomcdufr2 is a transport protocol. What the UFR2 driver does is take the spool file and move it from the core printing system on the Mac and pass it through to its own mechanism for sending the file to the printer. As to why this only occurs on certain files is the puzzle. You could try using Disk Utility to run a repair disk permissions. Another thing you could try is for these documents, use Adobe Acrobat and from the Acrobat print dialog, select the Advanced button. From the new window that appears you can then enable the "Print as image" checkbox.

To check if the PS kit (sales code PS ROM-A723) is available for sale in your region, you should probably contact your local Canon support (or who you bought the printer from).
To check if the LBP has the PS kit you can press the Utility button on the control panel. The menu entry will be Configuration Page. Press OK and arrow down to Yes when asked to execute. If you do see PCL in the Configuration Page, then this could be another option for you, as the Mac does have a Generic PCL driver. Experience with Canon MP600R printer

I bought a Canon MP600R multipurpose printer from Apple Store UK and installed the drivers on my iMac (connected through ethernet cable via a SpeedTouch router/modem) and PowerBook (connected wirelessly). All seemed ok but I used disk utility and found screenfuls of permission corrections and, more importantly, disk verify revealed errors that I had to correct using an external drive. This was on both machines. Apart from that, I am very impressed with the MP600R.
Anyone else had this problem?

Thanks for your reply. In running DU verify disk reported an error on exit (I can't remember the point it failed but it was almost complete according to the progress bar). As I said, DU couldn't repair it itself so I used a separate start-up disk. I check my disks probably once a week on average with DU and very occasionally see volume header errors etc but because this happened on both iMac and PB I can't believe that it wasn't the installation of the Canon software. I wasn't having trouble with the Macs - it was just something I stumbled on in my routine DU tidying.
Permissions repair was just screenfuls of printer-related stuff.
I've sent a note to Canon but no response yet. Generally I'm a fan of Canon and have had no trouble in the past so this was a bit surprising.
Did you install MP600R software? I'm never sure that it's necessary as Macs tend to have a lot of drivers pre-installed. However, mine didn't seem to have the Canon IJ network kit so I used the CD provided.
