Trouble with Color Overlay

Hi,
In the attached picture, I would like to change the color of the girl's pants.
Once I select them, am I not able to make a change to them on that layer? Do i have to copy the selection of the pants to a new layer and then make the change? Because otherwise it makes the change to the whole layer.
Thanks.

Right. Thanks. I know.
Do you know that an adjustment layer does change any layers below it. An adjustment layer is like copy of a layer its clipped to or if not clipped a merged composite of the lower layers. A layer mask on that layer confines the adjustment to the masked area for the layer below show through the adjusted adjustment layer..

  • Trouble with color on Presario, No red tones on display. Not a monitor issue.

Am experiencing trouble with color on Presario, model no. CQ5500F. Purchased a couple of years ago, and trouble was present immediately. Am getting no red tones - red items appear black or sometimes blue. Was told by HP that it was a monitor issue, and let computer slide out of warranty. installed new monitor today and problem still exists. Is this merely a display adjustment of some kind? Or will I have to pay HP their $99 for a one time fix? Any suggestions appreciated.

    Hello UncleBob62,
It could be the display driver that is not properly working
    1. Click on the start icon
    2. Right click on computer and go to properties
    3. Select Device Manager
    4. Expand display adapters and right click on the video card driver and uninstall
The computer screen will go blank
On the keyboard press the windows key the right arrow key twice and then the letter R.
At this point your computer is going to reboot. After the reboot Windows will install generic drivers for your video card. Do you still see a lack of red tones?

  • Strange trouble with Color

I experience strange trouble with Color I can't overcame. I try to export DPX sequences in Color ("manually") without using Final Cut. I navigate in setup room to my folder where the files are stored and after I open that folder there is nothing there at all. I tried different folders as well sometime it opens empty and I have to go back up and open folder again to be able to see the contents. But some folder are never "refresh" always opens empty , but I am 110 present sure there are files in them ( I check in Finder). This starts to happen after 10.5.2 update. I have no idea what to do with this and how to overcame that problem., please help.
My setup is Mac pro 2x2.66Mhz , 3GB Ram, ATI Radeon X1900 video card, 2 Apple cinema displays.
    Mac OS X 10.5.2, Color 1.0.2
    Thanks!

Let me see if I understand this...
What you are attempting to convey is that you are trying to import .dpx files into COLOR directly and that COLOR does not recognize the files.
My bet would be that there is an issue with the .dpx file format. It may be the way they are written, stored, named, the bit-depth... any number of issues. The fact that they don't show up is COLOR's way of telling you that there is a compatibility problem. My experience is that 10-bit and above is poorly handled at the moment, and is not supported at all by some previous versions of Quicktime and Shake, for example, under Leopard, and not even Tiger .4.11. What I started getting were perfect proxy renditions, but actual rendered material was almost pure noise, except there were shadowy remnants of the original scene.
Consider yourself lucky that the application stopped you at this point, rather than allow the project to go forward, then corrupt after you had devoted a considerable amount of your time and energy to it, then have to go back to fix the original files and do ti all over again, or struggle with reconform, etc.

  • Has anyone had trouble with Color Munki?

Has anyone had trouble with Color Munki calibration equipment on an iMac OSX 10.9.2?

I personally don't understand why X-Rite continues to sell this product. The software for it hasn't been updated since version 1.1.1 dated 10/13/2009, about a year after Snow Leopard's release. It's really not much of a surprise it doesn't work all that well in Mavericks.

  • Trouble with advanced overlay colors

I'm creating some buttons in photoshop that require advanced overlay colors. For some reason I cant get dvdsp to respond to anything other than black or white as a highlight. I have the grey settings right as far as I can tell ( 66%, 33%, or 168, 168, 168- 84, 84, 84) but I just dont have any seperate control over those areas in the button. The best I've gotten is out of a solid gray triangle, I can get the slightest impression of it when I set that gray to 15 opacity and a bright color.
    any ideas?

I'm not trying to make a layered menu. In fact, really I'm not even trying to make a menu with an overlay, although maybe that is the only way to achieve what I'm trying (which may not really be worth it at this point, but I'm trying to figure out exactly how it works).
Maybe I've made incorrect assumptions about how to work with buttons, highlights and overlays. Hopefully someone can set me straight.
When you make a custom button, it is a 4 layer psd. The highlight layer's black content becomes the highlight of the button and you can adjust the highlights appearance using the sliders in the inspector when set to "simple overlay colors". Logically, and with the sort of obtuse explanation in the manual, I'm under the impression that I could switch to advanced overlay colors, take that highlight layer, make it a grayscale image and manipulate the various tones individually. Am I wrong to think this? Is the only proper way to do this by setting an overlay on the entire menu?

  • Having trouble with Color Swatches - InDesign CS5 to CS6

This may be a repeat - I'm not sure I posted properly the first time.
Having trouble with the Swatches in CS6. When I add our institution's colors, they look dull/gray in CS6. I know it's not just my screens because I created a quick EPS in CS5 for comparison. When I add the EPS file to my doc, the colors pop into the Swatches box but they are clearly different colors. The most remarkable is Pantone 484, which used to be a bright scarlet. Now it's a strange, dull mauve.
I took a screen shot to show a colleague with more experience, but he's stumped. There are very few of us that use InDesign on our campus and we're all self taught. Our tech folks usually come to US for solutions.
I did try the instructions under "Display or Output Spot Colors Using Lab Values" in the Help menu, but nothing changed. That seemed to be the only applicable FAQ that I could find on my own.
Here is the relevant chunk of the screenshot I took - can anyone see what's gone wrong? Color blocks are "old" colors, next to Swatches which show the "new" hues.
    Thanks for any help!

  • Trouble with color profiles?

Since installing photoshop, I've had no problems. A few days ago, I accedentally hit some hot key which changed some color profile settings, but I can't figure out which ones. Now, when I save a jpg or gif, the colors are much brighter and more vibrant than my working colors. If I turn on the proof colors preview, I get the true image. However, I never had that set before and it doesn't stay set now. Anyone know what's going on? The proof colors are set to "Monitor Colors".
I attached a sample of the same image open in photoshop and the saved jpg image open in Preview. I'd appreciate any help you can give me!

This has been discussed ad nauseam here, and there are many existing threads on the subject.  This type of thread can get very long in no time.  I suggest you take a look at them.
In a nutshell, you need to calibrate and profile your monitor accurately, select a working color space, honor that tag (color space) in all files you open, and tag all your files with the color profile in which they were created.  Then look at the image in a color managed application.
If you choose not to embed the color profile in a JPEG, meaning you end up with an untagged JPEG file, be prepared to see color differences between the appearance of the image in some applications, most especially if you have a wide-gamut monitor.  For instance, Photoshop and Firefox 3.0.8 (the latter with color management enabled, which is not by default) will correctly assume sRGB for all untagged images.  On the other hand, all Apple applications, from the Finder through Preview, Safari, iPhoto and Aperture, just throw monitor profile at all untagged images.  That will produce exactly the effect you show.
Similarly, if you leave an image created in, say ProPhoto RGB, untagged, it will look like it's on fire in Photoshop and Bridge, as well as in the Finder, etc.

  • Trouble with color labels not synching between different machines sharing same data drive

    Hi
I am having a problem that seems to have come up when I started using a mix of PS/Bridge CS4 and CS3, in which color labels I apply in Bridge--primarily to folders--do not retain the color label when I look at the same set of folders on the same external hard drive using multiple, different Macintosh machines, running a mix of CS3 and CS4.  The color labels will appear on one machine and then not appear at all on another.  Note: they don't appear as white labels without a color.  It's as if they were never labeled at all!
I use multiple Macs to connect to one primary external data drive.  I consistently configure Bridge to export caches to the external drive, and with CS3 any color labels I applied to folders were consistently displayed in the same way on multiple machines.
Every since I upgraded a couple of my Macs to CS4, I now notice that color labels applied on one machine aren't showing up when I attach my external drive to other machines. I've even noticed a problem connecting to the external drive from two different user profiles on the same Mac laptop (running CS4).
I have tried resetting the preferences and the cache on all of these machines.  I also then re-toggled the export caches checkboxes on all these machines.  Per some earlier troubleshooting, I have also made sure that the naming convention for the labels is the same on all the machines: "Approved" versus "Green," etc.
There just seems to be no rhyme or reason for why the color labels are not synching.
    HELP!?
    Thanks in advance.

I have no clue at all, labels should stay visible after having applied them
to a file and used purge cache. And they do so on my system.
Normally there will not be many reasons to use the purge cache option unless
you have trouble, every time you alter a file it should be auto update the
preview and thumb, is this not in your workflow?
Are you still working with same files that were also present on your other
    system and using CS3?
Have you considered to start from scratch?
Quit Bridge, from the user library preference folder delete the plist file
for Bridge to the trash and in the same library from the caches folder /
Adobe/BridgeCS4 move the cache file outside the user library if you want to
backup this file (or to the trash if you don't want it anymore)
Both files will replace itself with fresh ones but the cache needs to start
    all over again building previews.
Again hold option when starting Bridge first time and again choose refresh
    preferences.
Set the preferences for Bridge to your wishes and try again.
However, if I go to "Tools-Cache-Purge Cache For Folder" and purge the cache
for the folder I'm working in, the color labels disappear.  Is this expected
behavior?  Shouldn't the color labels be recreated?? Again, I have repeatedly
purge the cache in this way, have reset Bridge CS4 settings, and have
re-selected the option to "Export Caches To Folders When Possible."  What's
    going on!?!?!?  Thanks.

  • Trouble with Color Picker

I'm have a strange issue with a color I choose in color picker not matching the color the object is actually getting filled with.
If, while in color picker, the cursor is in a CMYK field when I select a color, it will show up in the rectangle as a slightly different color after I click OK. If I then open color picker again on that object, the preview color will match the color in the rectangle but the RGB values will be different from the values of the original color I wanted (CYMK stays the same).
If the cursor is in an RGB field, the color will show up a different color as well, but when I click fill on that object the color in the preview shows up as the color I wanted (and doesn't match the current fill color) and the RGB and CMYK values are the same as the ones I wanted.
Here's a screenshot of the difference in the two colors - the one I want in the preview swatch (sorry it's kind of hard to see), the one color picker fills is the color rectangle. And this has been happening for everything I try to fill, the color is generally not as bright as I want.

That's the intended behavior (clicking on one of the white squares sets your current color to that color).
To add a color to the array of colors, drag its icon from the top down onto one of the array of squares. (I'm pretty sure it's always been like this).;-)
Bonus tip: when the RGB or similar sliders are showing, hold down the Option key and click to the left or right of the slider button to increase or decrease the color in increments of one.
    Hope this helps....

  • Premiere pro cc having trouble with color corrected clips

I've been working on a project for a few days and today when I opened premiere pro it gave me a warning about what software it had been running with and how it was no longer available. I'm sorry I've already forgotten the name of the software, but I know I didn't remove anything from my laptop. When I began watching the playback I noticed that color corrected clips were very jumpy and didn't play smoothly, but the ones that had not been color corrected were fine.  There were also two lines at the top of my timeline, a red one over all the jumpy clips and a yellow one over the clips that played through completely. This is my first time using premiere pro so I'm not sure what it means or how I could fix it.  It may be worth noting that my laptop isn't bad but I don't think it's necessarily the best for editing.  Is it possible that memory space or hardware within the laptop are the issue? Any advice will be appreciated, thanks.

    Just me today I guess.
The solution to this problem is simple.  Download and install the latest Adobe PPro CS3 3.2.0 patch.  50 Mb download, 20 second install time.  Everything works great now!

  • Trouble with color code in Photoshop

I am working on a mosaik which includes red squares. These squares have the colorcode RGB 179 0 0 but when i open the file it shows a much brighter red and also when i've saved it as a png, the brighter red is diplayed despite of the right colorcode.
It actually seems like photoshop doesn't know that specific color because when i try to paste a screenshot of one of the squares (with the actual color) into the picture, it also returns the much brighter red. this is the original color
and this is how it looks like in photoshop AND when i save it, even though the colorcode is identical to the original color.
It seems impossible to get the original color??!
    Thank you

I was working in Adobe RGB1998 - how can i determine which color space the original was saved in.
Does the image not have its profile embedded?
In which application do you view the image to get the other result?
and if i now use prophoto rgb, shouldnt the color be included?
The color appearance should stay close to the original (within the possible) when converting an image to another Color Space. Mind you that there are factors (like the selected Render Intent) do exert influence on the result.
Or will the color always differ when the color space is different?
There may be identical or close-to-identical Color Spaces, but one should not assume that the same numbers result in the same appearance in different Color Spaces.

  • Trouble with color

i dont know how this happened but my ical is a mess..
over to the left under calendars I have home in green
    work is in orange.
for some reason I went to change the color of work but when i did it wouldnt allow me because when i click on get info for work its only for each individual day not the entire work schedule..
how can I change this so its for the entire schedule not each day?
    Allan

GIF's are flat files; you can't just change the color as you would with a vector. Instead, do this:
    Select the Paint Bucket tool.
Select a color from the Fill category of the Properties panel
Put the Paint bucket cursor over the color you want to change and click the mouse. The old color will be replaced with the new color.

  • Trouble with colors not appearing correctly.

This has been an ongoing problem. I have created links within my pages and assigned the links different colors to help the user determine which link it is. On some pages the colors appear correct and the next page the color links appear as black. Sometimes the entire page links are black and sometimes it is just a few. I have deleted all links and colors and started over, but no luck.
Has anyone had this issue and overcome it? What is the cause of this problem?

I believe you are referring to visited links , which by default changes on revisiting the page.
You can try the suggestion mentioned here to change back to default color on visit :
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8188060/how-to-make-link-not-change-color-after-visited
If this is not you are referring to , then please provide page url and screenshots where you see a change in color.

  • I am having trouble with colors in a font converted to a pdf.

    Hi all,
I am using PSE 8 and having an issue when converting an image to PDF.
I have text all in black on the PSD and when I convert it to a PDF the very tips of the first and last letter are white.
I need to have the document in PDF to upload to printer.
    Any advise?
Thanks in advance for any information provided.
EDIT: I can supply a picture of the issue if someone thinks that will be helpful. I am new to the forum and an amateur on Photoshop.

This is what gypsy curse looks like in acrobat reader after saving as a pdf from pse 8 on a mac.
Maybe you should try resetting the Type Tool or resetting the pse 8 preferences and see if one of those makes any difference.
    Resetting the Type Tool
With the Type tool selected, click on the small down-turned arrow to the left of the Font Lisrt in the tool options bar and click on Reset Tool
    Reset the pse 8 preferences
Press and hold down the Shift+Ctrl+Alt keys just after starting the launch of the pse 8 editor
Keep holding the keys down until you get a dialog asking if you want to delete the adobe photoshop elements settings file
