Trouble with consolidating library

I recently got a new 500 gb hard drive and I wanted to consolidate my iTunes library from my three other hard drives onto that one. My library is currently 51 gb and consists of about 9400 songs and about 6 gb of video. The hard drive is formatted as FAT32. I hit consolidate and it moves about 49 gb of the music to the new hard drive and then I get an erro that there is not enough free space and the consolidation fails. But I still have about 350 gb free so I know that error message can't be accurate. As further proof I've consolidated the library twice in two different folders and the same thing happens. Any idea what could be going on?

I am having a very similar issue. I want to consolidate my iTunes Library to new 500 gb external HD. Currently about 60 gb music are split between an older 160 gb external HD (33 gb free) and my internal 80 gb drive (3 gigs free). I get the error message the instant it starts "not enough space on 'internal drive name'." But I am not trying to move everything to the internal drive.
Any ideas are welcome.

Trouble with iPhoto Library Updater

I've read all the posts on this subject but can't find my problem. When I run the Library Updater, the libraries I want to open are greyed out. If I click on a library on the desktop, it tells me I have to install the updater. I'm stumped!

The contents of that folder appear to be normal for an iPhoto 6 library. You should be able to launch the iPhoto Library Upgrader 1.1 with the Option key held down, navigate to that folder and select it for updating.
You are saying that that the iPhoto Italy2 library folder is grayed out in the upgrader's window? How is the volume MEDIA formatted. It must be OS X Extended (journaled) for iPhoto or the upgrader to work. If that volume is not formatted correctly move the folder to your boot drive and try from there.

PHD troubled with iPhoto Library

Hi All. I am using Leopard server v. 10.5.4, my client end users have MacBooks (35 total) with Leopard 10.5.4 and sync every eight minutes. The computers are connected via Airport Extreme BS w/ common SSIDs and often do not rejoin the "preferred" network upon awakening. A few machines, either connecting for the first time on a given day or a restart after loosing the connection to the server are getting the dialog box asking (iPhoto Library) where is or which one do you want to keep? We are finding that there is also an occasional application duplicated on the desktop following a login and a long sync. There has been, not only 2 or more copies of the iPhoto Library, but copies of the same duplicated (ex: iPhoto Library_3-network) a network copy. I am asking some insight here as to what can cause these anomalies? This is the first year I've tried using PHD, and it's beginning to wear me down. Thanks, J Langlois

Trouble with itunes library

My itunes library got erased for some reason after I either started Genious or burned a cd into my library, how do I transfer songs from my ipod back into the library so I can update my ipod without losing everything?

In iTunes, pick one of the Music Videos. Do a Get Info on the track. Under one of the tabs you have a pull down for Video type and the choices are Movie, TV Show, and Music Video (I think those are right, going off my memory). Select Music Video and OK out of the Get Info screen. Resync your iPod and see if it shows up where you want it.
Unfortunately I don't think you can make this change to a bunch of videos at the same time like you can with other tag info, so you will have to do it one track at a time.

Everytime I try to build the playcenter library using the auto-search (verification), the program closes when it is adding files. As I did a new instalation, updating the playcenter and the drivers, I don't kow what could fix this trouble. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi,
You will get this error, if tomcat could not find the JDK installation path at the time of startup. For that, you need to put your "JAVA_HOME" path in \bin\tomcat.bat file, which will point to your JDK installation path. Then, it should start without any problem.
In Windows NT, right click mycomputer->Properties->Advance->Environment Variable and add the JAVA_HOME to user defined variable and point that variable to the path.
To test if the servlet engine is working properly open a browser, and type http://localhost:8080

Having trouble with Itunes Library

When I load a CD in my Itunes to import in my library, the track numbers are not in order. When I click on the CD name, the tracks are in thier correct numerial order. Also in the library, the songs and the tracks are not in one box. For example, there may be only one track in one box, and only 2 tracks in another, and 3 in another box and so on and so fourth. I have tried deleting the tracks and starting over, but the same darn thing happens again and again. I even tried going into preferences and changing the order to "groupings" instead of shuffle. No luck. I even tried changing the codes. No luck. I am at a loss at these technoligical contraptions lol ! Also, when I try to get artwork for some of the CDs, Itunes has some of them, but not all of them for example, I clicked "Advance" to get the art work for one of Barry Manilow's current CDs, and it does'nt show up in the box next to the track! I mean, I find it hard to believe that Itunes does'nt have "Manilow Scores" CD picture! (That's what I was looking for!) I appreciate any help yous can give me here. I spent all day uploading CDs and they were in order when I uploaded them, but all of a sudden, they get out of order and scrambled in different areas in the library! I appreciate any help you Apple egg heads out there can give me. Thanks PS I will check back for any ideas

I did what you said and STILL NOTHING!!! AUGH!!!! When I went back into Itunes, the songs came back to my libray the same way BEFORE I deleted them yesterday!!!! What's happening is that when I go into my Itunes Library and click MUSIC, the songs and track numbers, and copies of the album artwork are scattered all over in the boxes or sections : (The divided secitons in the library where EACH CD, Track number, and songs ARE suppossed to be in that one section and IN ORDER!) This is NOT happening! AUGH!!! Thanks for your help anyways. I appreciate it! I am going to search my computer and see if there are anymore duplicates of these files, if so, I can delete them.

Trouble with TLD library registration with JDeveloper 10.1.3

Hello y'all I am using JDeveloper 10.1.3 and I want to use a library to paginate my results in a JSP page. I followed the steps in this page:

Help!!! I downloaded the latest JDeveloper (Studio, build 10.1.3.0.4.3673) I still cant get my project to run properly. I register a JSP Tag, but when I try to run my project, I get:
Error:(3): "http://displaytag.sf.net" is not a registered TLD namespace
I think I am lacking a step, but I right now I can't seem to know what.

Aha! I have sorted it.
For those with similar problems, the solution is this:
Macintosh HD > Library > Audio > MIDI Drivers
Then delete DigiDioMidiDriver.plugin

Trouble with restoring an iPhoto library from a time machine backup.

I'm having trouble restoring my iPhoto library from a time machine backup.
I have created a new library in my pictures file.
When I try to restore the library the restore process is trying to copy it to an external drive that no longer exists - it failed and I had to have it recovered and all the recovery (including backups) data is now on a different external hard drive.
iPhoto had been using that old external drive location to start. iPhoto is now pointed to the newly created iPhoto library in my pictures file on my MacBook Air.
Is there a way to have the restoration process point to that new iPhoto library that is now empty and not to the old external drive?

You might try this with the restored library:
Starting over from scratch with new library
Start over with a new library and import the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from your original library as follows:
1. Open the library package like this.
2. Launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
3. Drag the subfolders of the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from the open iPhoto Library package into the open iPhoto window a few at a time.
This will create a new library with the same Events (but not necessarily the same Event names) as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects.
Note: your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.

Trouble with iPhoto and iPhoto library manager.

I had trouble with my iPhoto constantly crashing, so I downloaded and used iPhoto Library Manager. Now when I am trying to get back to using iPhoto by re-importing my pictures, I keep getting a notification saying there is not enough space on my harddrive. I have spent a long time deleting large and unneccessary files all over my computer, but I am still unable to import my images to the iPhoto library.
Does anyone have an idea of what I can do? I am starting to get worried that I will never be able to reach my pictures again
+ I have deleted all iPhoto iPod caches or whatever they're called based on recommendation from many sites.

OS X needs about 10 gigs of hard drive space for normal OS operations - things like virtual memory, temporary files and so on.
Without this space your Mac will slow down as the OS hunts for space on the disk, files will be fragmented, also slowing things down, apps will crash and the risk of data corruption - that is damage to your files, photos, music - increases exponentially.
Your first priority is to make more space on that HD. Nothing else can be done until you do.
Purchase an external HD and move your Photos and Music to it. Both iPhoto and iTunes can run perfectly well with the Library on an external disk.

I had trouble with my pc it had an invalid drive. After I repaired it, I went to my Itunes library where everything was listed, but when I tried to play music I got a message the file could not be located. Can I just plug in my ipod and sync it with the library to bring back the files.

It means that the files are not stored on your hard drive anymore. So when you click on a song in iTunes, it comes up saying that it can't play the song. A file is missing. This means that when your hard drive crashed, you lost your data but iTunes some how kept you songs in iTunes. Sorry to have to say this, but it looks like you have to re-download every single song all over again.

I have been having a lot of trouble with the latest itunes update and my ipod classic 80Gb i.e. being unable to sync songs, but now i have no files at all on my ipod, it is completely blank when i view it from my computer. I need help, please, anybody.

As it says above, i have been having a lot f trouble with my ipod classic and the latest itunes update, i was unable to sync songs or anything to it and have tried every conceivable 'fix' i could find. i have run an itunes diagnostic and the results are posted below. a major problem is that when i try and view my ipod through my computer it displays nothing at all on the ipod, no files or anything, this may be the problem but i have no idea how it has happened or how i could resolve it.

My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc.

Trouble with 3rd party VST installs for Garageband, can't find instruments

I am having trouble with Audio Units for Garageband when installing 3rd party software, VSTs, loops, instruments. I have more issues with Logic Pro. I am hoping that it is the same underlying issue and that I am just missing something. I have the manuals (not great for troubleshooting). I am confused with some installs use User Library and others use the Computer Library. I do go to the mfgs sites for updates. The installs sometimes work as standalones but I don't see ALL of the components of the software in say Garageband or Logic. Mostly, I am missing the "instruments" and "loops" that I want to access within the DAW. Some examples:
• Here is some of the software I am talking about: East West sample libraries (Play and Native Instruments); Vienna Symphonic librarires; Sylenth1 (just last night); Sample Tank 2 and Total Workstation 2 from IK Multimedia and others.
• In GB I see the Audio Units for Vienna, Play, Sylenth, some of the IK Multimedia but NOT any instruments when I go to the "Sound Generator" -- I seem to be missing the instruments and loops. I see less AUs in Logic Pro. Some of these are VST instruments.
• Can I just drag-drop samples to the library folders to fix this?
• The plug-ins do not seem to work (though Sylenth1 worked for a single sound). When there is a standalone app (as in Sample Tank), I finally got the "sounds" to be reinstalled and loaded, those sounds/samples don't show up in any DAW.
• When and if the sounds/loops/samples show up in GB's "Instruments" section will I be able to tell that they belong to that particular software or library?

Found the answer myself, it was simple:
• Select the Track
• Show the Instrument (info area)
• Click on Edit
• Click on the "Sound Generator" pop up field.
• At the bottom of the pop-up list, select from the Audio Units that you have installed. This is where you see "Sample Tank 2, Vienna Instruments..."
• NEXT -- IMPORTANT: CLICK ON THE PICTURE next to the Sound Generator pop-up field.The AU unit loads up, the interface pops up, you load up the instruments in this AU Unit. You do NOT see the sounds from the AU unit in the normal Apple instrument list.
This was not intuitive but once you know it, fairly simple.
Still, the devil is in the details -- more questions on the way.

Trouble with 3 ATV to connect to iTunes in one WiFi / LAN

I've trouble with my ATVs in my network. I have 1 3Gen. ATV connected via LAN to iTunes on iMac and 2 2Gen. ATVs via WiFi. The problem I am facing is, if I am connected with two of them to my iTunes Library the third can't even the others ( which have been conneted) are off. If I restart iTunes, I can connect again two of them and the third (doesn't matter which one) cannot. So I can circle arround which one gets connected but it is not very satisfying.
My network is setup on two Airport express and a TC 2Gen to cover the whole house. As I stated above, the ATV 3Gen is connected via Lan, and the other two via WLAN?
Any idea what I've made wrong, or what to do to find the problem?

Until the MacBook Air was released and supported in 10.5, the Mac did not consider USB to be a valid Networking Protocol. So set the Mac with USB solutions aside.
To connect computer-to-computer, you typically need to be using an Ethernet crossover cable. Assigning the same address to two Ethernet devices is never the solution -- it gives a Network Conflict, just as you said.
If your Windows box has some mechanism for Sharing its WiFi connection over Ethernet, you would have to follow its rules. Whether that means Manually assigning an Ethernet Address in the same range or the PC will provide the Address, I do not know.
Best success may be running an Ethernet cable to your Wired/Wireless Base Station, or using a "gaming adapter" (Ethernet-to-Wireless no drivers required) connected to the Mac's Ethernet port to give it WiFi access. What is your Base Station {Cable, DSL, FIOS, Other} ? Ethernet cables can be up to 100 meters (an American Football Field). Often the Base Station can be moved closer for more convenience.

Having trouble with multiple user accounts

I am still getting used to Aperture and am having trouble with multiple user accounts on my Mac.
My wife and I have separate accounts on our Mac, and both have Administrator rights. We keep our Aperture library in the "Shared" folder, and I have made sure that both she and I have read/write capabilities on the Aperture library.
However, she has difficulty creating new projects, saving data, and viewing thumbnails in Aperture. Whenever she creates a project, it does not save into Aperture, and cannot be viewed by any user. In addition, changes she makes to photos do not save. She also cannot view thumbnails of any photos (although she can see the photos in the viewer).
Are there any changes I need to make to the user accounts so she can have all these capabilities?

Rather than having the Aperture library reside in the shared folder, keep it within a folder residing at the top level of your mac, eg.
I actually keep mine on one of my RAID disks.
