Trouble with contacts

I upgraded my iPhone 3GS as well as my husband's. When I did this it merged all of my contacts and his contacts as well, so we both could see each other's contacts on our phones. When he deleted all of my contacts off his phone, they disappeared on my phone! I backed up my phone prior to the upgrade, if I restore my iPhone, will my contacts come back? I don't want to restore it and have EVERYTHING gone! I did go in to my settings and turn off all of the sharing options so hopefully this will not happen again! Please help!

So I just got back from AT&T and the woman said to do the restore again but set it up as a new iphone when itunes comes up. So Go to settings then general down to reset and hit erase all content and settings. This will set you up for the restore. When it's hooked up to the computer make sure not to touch it, no calls or texts. She thinks it was just a glitch when I had done the upgrading of the software. If you have a sim make sure you have your contacts saved to the sim first.

Trouble with Contacts (address book)

Dear Apple Community: I have problems with Contacts. When I open up Contacts there is noting there and noting works like adding a new contact or group; it's like it's locked up somehow. I always try to find answers myself before asking the Apple Community. I Found a U-Tube video explaining how to fix a problem similar to mine. It told to reimport your Contact data base, but my import menu item is grayed out. Any ideas of how I can fix my Contact app? Is there something is Library that might be corrupted that I can throw away? Thank you!

In Finder hold down the option key while selecting the Go menu. Select your library. Go to Preferences/com.apple.Addressbook.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got them from, overwriting the newer ones.

I am having trouble with contacts syncing (CardDAV vs iCloud)

I found that a number of recently added contacts do not sync across iCloud (devices). I have read several forum threads and can't seem to find a solution. I digging into my group text app (Text2Group) I discovered that somehow the missing contacts are not in iCloud but CardDAV. I added them in my phone by opening contacts and tapping on the + symbol in the upper right hand corner of the screen. I did the same thing over the years and never had this problem before upgrading to iOS 8 and then 8.1.1, or at least noticing it recently..
I logged out and back in from both devices. turned off/rebooted my iPhone. The contacts I added today on my MacBookPro (13-inch, Mid 2009, 8 GB ram, OS 10.9.5) today appear on both my iPad Mini and Phone 5S....
Any thoughts other than manually adding the phone CardDAV-contacts to iCloud so the will syn. All of the contacts in CardDAV can be found in contacts, but cannot be added to groups. Baffling

You can sync/manually mange iphone with one and only one computer. If you sync/manually mange to anther, then it will erase the current content and replace with content from the new computer.
What "trouble" are you having?

Sorry you still don't understand. There's no point in deleting one contact, I don't want to delete my Facebook contacts I just don't want them to appear in with my local contacts. And I wouldn't be able to re-add that one contact without deleting Facebook completely and reinstalling it since the contacts app gets its data from Facebook. I'm not "pushing any memory limits" I have a 16gb phone and a 32gb memory card and that's pretty sad if it can only handle 486 contacts ESPECIALLY if it's going to add your Facebook contacts and not enable you to remove them. The contact app is having trouble saving my preferences. I highly doubt it has ANYTHING to do with the actual contacts, i believe it is a problem with the app itself because I can still add local contacts and delete them but none of my preferences such as the Facebook contacts not appearing and setting it to the dark theme will save.

Trouble with contacts for texting

When I type a new text message and try to enter a name in the To: field the contacts do not come up in alphabetical order. I have to type several letters of the name before it comes up. I have my Contacts setting for Sort Order and Display Order set to First, Last names. Doe anyone know how to change this?

Nokia 500 GPS questions/troubles with: Contacts, F...

So... I have owned my 500 now since Christmas (I received the 500 as a gift from my father-in-law). Overall, for my first GPS device, I really enjoy all the features... But, I'm having quite a few troubles and hoped that some expert users or Nokia Support folks might be able to help.
1) It took me forever, but I found a program to sync my Treo 700wx from Verizon to the Nokia 500. When I first tried syncing my phone it was recognized just fine but then only downloaded my 5 favorite (or quick dial) contacts from the Windows Mobile homepage. Then I did some looking on the internet and found a program from a company called JETware Mobile Software at www.jetwaremobile.com. The first time I used this software (the trial version only) I suceeded in syncing 623 contacts to the Nokia 500. Here are the issues though... The addresses did not sync (what a huge inconvenience considering this was 90% of the reason I wanted to sync the contacts). The phone numbers for each contact (if there were multiple phone numbers for the same person) sync as seperate contacts on the Nokia 500 (not a huge deal).
Question# 1) Isn't there a way to use some sort of a program on the PC to syncronize contacts from let's say Outlook or VCF files or a CSV file to the Nokia 500 manually?
2) I copied all the data from the supplied 2gb SD card and loaded it onto a new AData 16gb SD card & re-inserted the card to make sure everything worked ok on the device - No problem. I uploaded 8 gb of MP3 & 4 gb of Movies (in MP4 format - great program to use is www.pqdvd.com - buy the iPod version or PSP version so you can use it for both) and 1 gb of pictures.
Here are my comments:
MP3's - The player is a bit cheezy, but I was finally able to figure out how to play at random all the MP3s or play individual folders of songs at a time. Too bad you can't create or import a playlist!
FM Transmitter - Totally worthless in Sacramento, CA where there isn't a whole lot of open FM channels on the radio dial. Unfortunately my Jetta doesn't have an audio input plug otherwise this might work a lot better!
Note: the only place I can find to turn the FM transmitter on is in the MP3 playing mode (very strange & annoying)
Movies - I read a lot here to find out why the playback was so choppy & pretty low quality... Bottom line - You have to record the MP4s at about 15fps and create a MP4 file for about a one & a half hour movie that is about 600mb or so. This seemed to work pretty good.
Question #2) Is there a recommendation from Nokia experts on how to help the FM transmitter function worth a darn?
3) I've searched for many addresses on the GPS and echo other's complaints about very strange missing information & strange city lines in Nokia's software. It's very odd to me that I have to go thru about 10 clicks to "Take me home" and that everytime the device navigates me home it takes me a very off-the-beaten-path way home.
Question #3) Is there a way to save the route you actually drove between two destinations and store that as a trip on the Nokia 500 - vs. storing just the end destination & the Nokia solution to get from point A to B.
4) Battery life - If I had to guess the average battery life I've seen using this device is about 1 hour from power up to "I really need charging". Is this normal for GPS devices? I'm guessing it must be and most people just keep these plugged in at all times to their cigarette adapters.
5) Traffic - From my testing in Sacramento, CA there is no traffic service or alerts.
Question #4) Is there a service I need to purchase & how would one go about turning on traffic services for the Nokia 500?
6) User-interface - I'm brand new to this whole GPS world but as you can tell from this review I'm pretty tech-savvy... I'm a bit surprised at home much savvy it really takes to operate this device and I would think the average not-so-savvy user would be very put off by this.
Overall if I were to rate this device out of 10 I'd have to say it's a strong 6/10 and possibly a 7/10.
I really appreciate any expert feedback on my above 4 questions & 6 topics if at all possible.

Jeff, here's my input on your points and questions. Thanks for writing your post...
Question 1) It only supports syncing over bluetooth with phones that meet its bluetooth specs (see the user manual on the DVD for more details or the product website)
Point 2)
While you can't create or import a playlist on the Nokia, you can use your media player on your computer (e.g. Windows Media Player), while the SD card is inserted in your card reader on your computer, to create a playlist. Then copy the playlist file over the existing playlist file found in the root of your SD card.
Question 2) Not sure how to answer this one. The transmitter is built into the Nokia. So you just need to program it to use an available frequency (understanding that it is hard to find in your area). It doesn't unfortunately have the ability to scan for available frequencies (that would be cool).
Point 3) After you've selected to take you home, press the menu button and the Alt Route button where you can (according to the manual) configure the Nokia to block a route from being used.
Question 3) You would have to create a trip that includes enough waypoints (which you can create by creating bookmarks as you drive along) and then use that. Not to be sarcastic, but I find it funny how obsessed we all get about a GPS choosing the best route when if you already know of a better route then why do you even need the GPS' guidance? I'm guilty of this too so I'm also laughing at myself.
Point 4) I'm guessing that if your using the bluetooth integration, the FM transmitter, the TMC receiver, streaming video, using navigation, and keeping the brightness at the max setting, the estimated 2hr battery life isn't going to happen. The manual actually recommends using the cigarette lighter because it is your TMC receiver.
Point 5) My city (Vancouver, Canada) does offer TMC and my Nokia says its tuned in (I know because I've also seen the message where it says it is Tuning) yet I've not seen one traffic advisory yet. My Nokia's manual included an addendum from Nokia saying that TMC service is not available in the US and Canada. We all know this isn't true but maybe this is Nokia's way of saying their version of a TMC receiver doesn't work in North America.
Question 4) Good question. I think the answer is no because this TMC receiver is meant to work with a free TMC service. I'm thinking that maybe the only TMC services in US and Canada are pay-services that require you to enter a subscription unlock code in your GPS - the Nokia doesn't appear to provide such a function. *** This is my theory, I haven't confirmed this with any TMC provider ***
Point 6) I agree the user interface is not meant for non-tech-literates. It took me awhile to figure it out. Especially the meaning of icons and when to use them. This is NOT the Tivo of GPS
Overall I'm satisfied with my GPS even though I suspect there will never be map, POI, or software updates. I plan to figure out a way to mount it to my motorbike and ride all the way down to Mexico City (if I can figure out how to unlock the license for the Mexico map!)

Trouble with contacts photos in iOS5

Hi everyone,
Since updating to iOS 5 last night every time one of my contacts called me for which I have a picture for, their picture becaomes the wallpaper while I am on the call with them. Previosuly, it was just a little thumbnail up by their name at the top of the screen as opposed to the entire screen. Does anyone know how to get it back this way?

Hi,
Try to insert the embed code inside one of your <div> tags say the div-content tag after your <p>..</p> tags.
The embed code should work inside <div> ... </div> tags according to the layout defined there.

1100 troubles with contacts

Hey,
I have no problems with my 1100 until I changed the SIM card. All contacts were stored at the old SIM card, so I've copied it to the new one.
Now the phone doesn't resolve incoming call number to the name. The number exists in the contacts. It have the name. I even saved it again ("Call registrar > Received calls > Save") to my contacts. No luck.
I've tried to switch the memory from sim to phone.
I've tried to save a contact to both -- sim and phone. Fail. I still see just a number when I get an incoming call.
I've tried to recall factory defaults but it asks of protection code which isn't documented in the manual. I'm pretty sure that I've never set the protection code. I've tried 0000, 1234, 1111 -- no match.
I do not want to buy another phone. I'm ok with 1100.
Please help. Thanks a lot!

Troubles with Contacts

For some reason, I have about 100 more contacts in the cloud than I do on my Mac. Shouldn't they be the same?
In trying to fix this, somehow a “smart group” was created. Below that, is “last import”. What is this for? How do I get rid of this?

Trouble with contacts and icloud

When I add a new contact to my iphone it does not save it to my icloud. I have it linked to my icloud and I still have to manually add my contacts on the icloud website. How can I get my contacts to automatically sync to icloud?

Check Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...scroll down to the Contacts section and tap Default Account. Be sure this is set to your iCloud account and not something else like an exchange account. If you don't see the Default Account setting in the contacts section, or if you do but your iCloud account is already selected there, go to Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts to Off. When prompted, choose to Keep on iPhone. Then turn it back On and see if it syncs properly now.

Is anyone else having trouble with Siri calling someone from your Contacts on the Iphone 5?

Has anyone had trouble with Siri on the Iphone 5 in dealing with your Contacts. She gives all of the correct information on scores for the NFL but not if I ask her to call somebody in my contacts. She has no trouble with which movies are playing tonight at my local theaters.
If I ask her to call someone from my Contacts, she takes a very long time and then says something like this, "Uh oh, there's a problem. Can you try again?" or something of this nature. Any help appreciated. BTW I download my information from Itunes and also had to change my sim card in order for Verizon to keep my same telephone number.

I have not had this problem. I am new to Siri (with an iPhone 5 upgrade from an i4) and Siri has made a number of calls from my contacts. She asks, which John Doe (if I have more than one), which number (if I have more than one) and off we go.

I had trouble with a iTunes download. Two songs of an album were not complete. I contacted iTunes and yawl post the the download again. My iTunes now has the complete copies. The trouble is my iPhone will not accept/sync the complete copies. What up?

- Are you saying that they are not listed in your Purchased section?
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
- Are they listed in your Puchases history when you log into your account on your computer?
- Are they still available now for purchase? If not then you are out of luck

I am having trouble with my iphone 3GS, when i select my contact list or the phone icon, they open with a white screen and close almost immidiately meaning that i am unable to call or save contacts however i can recieve calls. Help Me Please

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Has any of this been tried?
