Trouble with downloaded audiobook

I downloaded an application called Overdrive from my local library. I have no problem using Overdrive on my iPod to listen to audiobooks. The books appear in my music and I can hear them no problem. I recently received an iPad. I wanted to listen to a book on the plane. So I downloaded Overdrive to it , thinking that I could use my iPad on the plane . I can find Overdrive--the book was downloaded to my music--however I was unable to listen to it on the plane--not sure why. I kept getting an error message re WiFi--Why would I need WIFI to listen to a downloaded book? Any hints would be helpful--thanks Renee

Several options available depending on how much work you want to do.
Essentially you have to import to iTunes as AAC files then change file extension from m4a to m4b.
I generally import each CD as a single file naming the file for the book and disc number. Using the combine tracks option of iTunes you end up with track and album name the same. After all discs are imported I change album tags to just book name. For multiple book series I include book number in album name also. For disc numbers use leading zero before single digit discs for sorting ease. Doing this I can sort by album name and get all tracks for series in order within the book and within the series.

Looking up your camera online, I found it is capable of 1920 x 1080 Full HD 60p Recording. It's the 60p (60 frames per second Progressive) that's the problem I think. iMovie '11 will do 60i (Interlaced). You might need to convert it from the format the camera currently uses into another format to get it into iMovie. Did you really mean "os 11"? There is no such OS.
There is iTunes 11, is that possibly what you are referring to?
It's best to be specific about the issues that are occurring and in what version, as some versions fix issues that exist in other version.

I am having trouble downloading apps to my iPhone 5. Each time the phone takes me to this added security page where i am mandated to answer 3 questions, in case i forget the password. Trouble playing downloaded audiobooks with Window Media Player

I can’t get audible book downloads from Net Library to play on my computer. Microsoft Windows Media player v9 and above is required to listen to eAudiobooks. I have this version. When I try to launch a download I get the message: cannot open file; verify file and path are correct. What do I need to do?

The Net Library audio books you are downloading are undoubtedly using a version of WMA-DRM (Windows Media Audio - Digital Rights Management) later than version 1.3. According to this post on another forum and related info on Microsoft's Web site here, version 1.3 is the latest version of WMA-DRM supported by WMP9 for Mac OS X.
In other words, the audio books use a later version of DRM (specifically the Microsoft Windows Media Rights Manager ) than that supported by WMP9. They simply will not play in WMP9.
Flip4Mac will not help you here:
• It clearly states on this page that "Note: Flip4Mac does not support content that is protected with Windows Media digital rights management (DRM). "• Flip4Mac would not let you convert the WMA-DRM-protected files to QuickTime files as this would require cracking the DRM protection, a violation of the U.S. DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act).
Accordingly, you're out of luck with the Net Library audio books that do not play in WMP9 unless you have a PC running Windows and WMP10.
That Net Library went with files protected by WMA-DRM is a sore point for many Mac users. Search for Net Library in this page for some examples of similarly frustrated users.

IPod with touch wheel 10GB problem with downloaded audiobooks

Hi,
I might have better luck getting my question answered in this forum. I downloaded some audiobooks from iTunes onto my iMac with no problem. The problem arose when I updated my 10GB iPod with touch wheel (yes, a Jurassic age model from an era when NO ONE knew what an iPod was). Of the five audiobooks I downloaded and subsequently transferred to my iPod, I could only get my iPod to open and play two of them. The other audiobook files would simply be skipped over as if they weren't even there.
I've reset my iPod twice to try and fix this problem.
Does anybody have any other ideas?

I have the same model iPod and downloaded and audiobook from iTunes for the first time a couple nights ago and have a similar problem. The book is in three parts. They all play fine on my iBook but my iPod skips the first two parts and will only play the third.
When I select part one on my iPod the screen displays the correct length of the segment, then skips to part two and shows the correct length, then finally skips to part three and plays it just fine.
If I only load part one and part two, the iPod goes through the same process but reverts back to the main menu screen without playing anything.
I had an idea a short while ago I am going to try when I get home. I did a get info on one of the audiobook files and it says it is the same file format as songs from the iTunes store. However, the extension is different. Protected song files are 'name.m4a' (I think, maybe .m4b) and the audiobook files are 'name.m4p.' I think those are the extensions, for some reason I'm having a brain **** right now. Anyway, I'm going to try changing the audiobook extension to match song file extensions and see if that works.
My thought is that the different extension for the audiobooks is how iTunes knows to put the files in the 'Audiobooks' list in iTunes instead of 'Music' or 'Podcasts' etc.
I'll post again after I give it a try.

I'm having a similar problem, but different circumstances. Someone gave me their iPod nano to load with tunes. I, myself, don't own an iPod, and the flimsy booklet that came with this device is pointless -- no real info. Anyway, once it was charged, I chose tunes from my library to upload to the iPod, but the entire library began to load (not just the checked selections). I made several attempts to resolve this, including an attempt to restore the iPod to its original settings. Unfortunately, now the computer and iTunes will not recognize this iPod (when iTunes is open and iPod is connected, iPod does not appear in source list, and desktop only reads the device as "iPod", as opposed to what it was originally reading it as) and I can't even get back to the part of iTunes that asks me if I want to restore the iPod. Do I have to bring this to an Apple store, or is there anyone out there who can tell me how to resolve this? I tried the "5 R's" recommended by Apple, but they don't seem to work.

There's a number of potential problems here, and they may not necessarily be at your end.
First of all, it should be clear that CMYK is not so much a generic "image mode" as it is a description of specific press conditions. If you produce final CMYK, you must have the right profile. Don't use Image > Mode, use Convert to Profile.
Given that, I would question anyone who doesn't accept Adobe RGB photographs for a magazine article, because it implies a process that isn't properly color managed and generally not up to date. A standard workflow today would use InDesign, where images are normally placed in their original RGB space whatever that is. Then the conversion to final output CMYK is done as the last step, when producing a press-ready PDF from InDesign.
It helps tremendously if you know that final CMYK, because then you can proof to that so your file survives the CMYK conversion with the least possible damage (we're talking gamut clipping here; not general color shifts). But it's not absolutely required, which is why this workflow is relaitively safe.
Third, CMYK jpeg is in itself risky, because many jpeg decoders (in some software) don't have proper CMYK support. The result can be weird colors. This could well be the problem here, because it sounds as if your client uses a non-standard workflow.
So what to do? I would send two files. One sRGB as reference, which is guaranteed to come through correctly. Then find a way to send TIFF for the CMYK version if they insist, or ask them to try opening it in different software. Of course you should have a calibrated and profiled display, but I agree that's probably not the immediate problem here. There's no particular reason a CMYK file should come back with twisted colors if it's opened and processed in properly color managed software.

I have a little trouble, but it seems to come really great.
When I try to download Twitter from App Store, it requires sign in with Apple ID kyle_chenyujia @hotmail.com - but it's not me and I don't know how it may happened with my notebook. I'm using it for a few days, it's totally new and it's totally not my Apple ID. Logging with my Apple ID doesn't work and show error:
We could not complete your request.
There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (4)

Other apps downloads normally.
Can I fix this or it's bug?

New ipod more frustration trouble with downloading itunes setup

I have had this ipod 3 days now and before I pitch it, give it away or post on ebay, I need help. I am getting more and more frustrated.
For some reason I cannot get the itunes software to download to my laptop, the one I am using to type this message. I'm using Windows XP pro. AOL internet connection through broadband with AT & T. Everytime I go to the download site, I click on the proper one and click the down load button. Not matter if it set it to run or to save, the setup does not download to my computer. I have tried as I said both run and saving to a folder and then opening the folder and tring to click on it to set up and nothing happens. I have checked my control pannel and then gone to add or remove software and in the entire listing there is no itunes showing. When I do a computer search for itunes it only finds the itunes in the ipod folder I set up on the desk top to download it into and save. I just won't download and install. I have tried to click on the setup in the folder I created on the desk top but it just does not install. Can anyone tell me what the problem might be??? Is there a CD that I can download the set up needed to use this ipod???
I have done everything I can think of, I have done a disk cleanup to get rid of temp internet files, junk and run my spyware program. My computer has no viruses. After doing these, I still can't download the setup itunes software.
I do have have another laptop available, and I can try that one, but before I try downloading the itunes setup on my other computer, can someone tell me why I can't download the setup to this computer????

I solved the problem, it seems that Quicktime was not properly installed on my computer. Even thought it showed when I looked in the control panel under add and remove software, it was there, but it was not working. I went to the quicktime tab at www.apple.com and downloaded quicktime again. This time I got a blue Q in my lower righ hand corner of my screen, so when I click on it the quicktime screen comes up and is working. I then downloaded the itunes 7.0.2 and it downloaded and set up fine, now I am just waiting for all my music on my computer to conver to itunes.
