HT3702 Promblem with Downloading Free Apps from the Apps Store app on Ipone 4
My iphone 4 won't allow me to download free apps from the apps strore app. It always asks for billing information. The apps that i am trying to download are free so i don't need billing information. what do i do so i can be able to download free apps?
If the None option is available in the Account Settings window, select None.
Tap Settings > Store > Sign In > Use Existing Apple ID. Enter your Apple ID and password. -
I have had my iPhone 4 for a year and a half, with absolutely no issues. I've been downloading, using, and upgrading apps all the while, until suddenly I ran into this issue.
I used a pre-paid credit card to make an in-game purchase, and ever since then I am asked to put Mastercard, Visa, or Amex information into my billing info. I do not have a credit card, I even purchased an iTunes gift card thinking I could use that as a 'payment method' (even though I was simply trying to update an existing free app) and there's no option for it.
Frankly, I'm quite irritated. I wouldn't mind making a new iTunes account, but wouldn't that affect the apps/purchases/saved game info associated with my current account?
How the heck do I fix this issue, I can't use facebook as it requires an update but I can't update without a CC. Ugh.I also wish to perform the 'free' upgrade to the mavericks OS however I am prompted to enter credit card details. This is neither appropriate and obstructive to my apple experience. I only wish to perform the upgrade and will give my details at a later date should I wish to make a future purchase. Please let me know what options are available to me without entering credit card details. It seems an unnecessary request for my financial information for which I don't/can't provide and is already limiting my iphone experience. I wish to use apple products in the future however I fail to see the logic of the credit card requirement for a "free" upgrade. An annoying roadblock to a smooth user experience.

TS1702 trouble with downloading purchased app
I recently updated my iphone from ios 4 to ios 5, and lost all the apps that I purchased last 2 years.
I went into the app store to see the purchased list to download, but I coudn't find all the old apps that I purchased.
I have all the receipts so I can prove it. But, I don't know whom should I talk to.
Thanks.Hello there, Matt0o1,
The following Knowledge Base article has some good pointers to follow to gain access to your previously purchased content:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

The information that seems pertinent in your case would be under "Apps, Books, Music, Movies or TV shows on a computer.

Unable to update or download free apps
My payment method was declined and it is forcing me to use a new one (which I don't have, by the way) which is not the concern, but I cannot update my apps, nor can I download free apps without updating my billing info.
? Why is this happening? My card info works with everything else, and it has cash on it, so what gives? Some folks have gotten these types of cards past the system in the past, but with the need to beef up security for Apple accounts, the system recognizes and kicks these cards quite regularly now.
If you don't have a None option in the payment methods for your account you need a usable payment method. It could be an iTunes Gift Card.
You need a replacement payment method to remove the current method. -
I can no longer download free apps and can't remove my old credit card from billing options.
My credit card doesn't work anymore but I don't understand why that is preventing me from downloading free apps and updates?

how can i fix my iphone i can't update or download apps, when i try it tells me toput my credit card info and i do but when i push done it tells me my payment has been declined, but why do i have to pay to update or download free apps. How can i fix this?
You must contact iTunes support to get the problem resolved.
http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/
If there is a problem with your account or payment info, you cannot
download anything (including free apps or updates) until the matter
is resolved.
In countries where the iTunes Store only sells apps, the accepted payment methods are Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. Other payment types such as gift cards, store credit, monthly allowances, ClickandBuy, and PayPal are not accepted. Depending on your App Store country, prices may be listed in your local currency, US Dollars, or Euros. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5552 -
my issue is that my itunes store have some probleme i cannot update my app and purchase app or download free app also it keep on tell me that an unknownerror occured (0x800b0101)
You could try this.
Back up all data.Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Reboot and test. If there's no change, restore the item you deleted from a backup, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Otherwise, you may need to recreate some of your settings in the Network preference pane.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

Why is this happening? It shouldn't on free updates or apps.

Based on what you have said so far there is no way to answer your question. You must have a valid payment method on file with the iTunes store, even to download free apps. The payment method is used to verify who you are. The profile information in your iTunes account must match the information for the credit card you have entered. -
Prompting for previous owners account when downloading free App updates
Hi, this is my first time here so apologies if I don't follow correct protocol! My brother in law gave me an iPhone 3G 2 weeks ago after using it himself for a couple of weeks only.
I have a new iTunes account and have synched calendars and contacts ok. I have removed all of his content from iPod on the phone and now have only the tunes I have purchased from iTunes on my phone. I have purchased and downloaded apps, and downloaded free apps ok. My homepage tells me I have 3 free updates to download, but when I try to do so it prompts me for my b-i-laws iTunes password. have tried to do this when logged into my iTunes account and when not and still can't get past this issue. Only happens with free updates. Can anyone please help me? Thanks.I worked out the solution to the problem - remove the free apps my b-in-l had downloaded that there were updates for; reinstall them under my account.

Unable to "purchase" or download free APP updates
I am trying to download free App updates on my iphone but it says unable to purchase try again later. so i waited a couple days, and it still wont work. and itunes wont update them either. I have the 2.2 software ive tryed to restart it i cant figure it out. anyone know what the problemo is?
thanksI had the same problem. I just fixed it. There are several posts on many forums addressing the "5002" error that date back to the IT8 roll out. My solution started with the post linked below.
http://gosublogger.com/2009/01/how-to-fix-itunes-error-5002/comment-page-1/#comm ent-5330
After trying the suggested fix I posted the following:
Thank you for posting this work around. My iPhone 3G has been unable to update apps as well as iTunes 8 running on my MBPro. I followed your instructions to the letter, but still have the same symptoms with “5002″ error. Next I backed up my Mobile Apps folder again (after the reinstall (I kept the original backup as well)), deleted all, and synced with my iPhone 3G. At this point only the apps from my phone are in the iTunes Mobile Apps. folder. No success. I still get the “5002″error in iTunes, and “unable to purchase” when updating apps using iPhone.
Any suggestions?
UPDATE:
After an extensive Error “5002″ Google search, I discovered the post linked below.
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1716575
I logged onto my iTunes account, and discovered that there was now a blank Credit Card security/CCV field next to the CC number field. Also there was a weird message in red stating that my address did not seem to be traditional for my area, and required editing or some such nonsense. I deleted a few characters in the address field, re-typed them exactly as they were, filled in my CC CCV code, and clicked done. All problems fixed!
I hope this helps..

I'm looking foward adding some extra RAM to boost my Macbook Pro 15 early 2011. I wonder if this kingston model (kvr1333d3n9/4g) will get the job done. If so, I'll get 2 dimms to take it to 8GB.
