Trouble with Drawing Markups in Acrobat Pro XI

Hello all and thank you for any help that comes out of this.
I use Acrobat XI for several forms for work.  They are timesheets.  I created these forms from another PDF that was given to me.  Part of the use of these forms involves adding Drawing Markups and editing the Markups later.  The Markups in this case are simple lines.  In Acrobat 9, this was an easy task.  I could easily grab the Markups I had inserted and manipulate them any way I chose.
Now, in Acrobat XI, once I insert a line, I basically can no longer touch it without doing a very clumsy work-around.  Every once in a great while, I get lucky and am able to get my mouse over that one magic hidden pixel and then I can grab the Markup and do what I need.
It just seems much, much more difficult working with Drawing Markups in the new version.
Am I doing something wrong?  Is there an option I don't know about?
Thank you in advance.
Dave

Gilad:
The only choices Acrobat XI gives me are the "Selection tool for text and images" and the hand-shaped "Click to pan around the document" button.
There is a "Tool Set" option under the View menu, but there is no "Interactive Objects" submenu.
Please note the image I have included of the toolbar that I am presented with in Acrobat XI. Does the button you are suggesting I use exist anymore?  I haven't seen it since Acobat 9 and I have scanned through menus and see no way to add another Selection Tool to the toolbar. If it does exist, please tell me how to turn it on.
Thank you!

  • How to minimize the file size of a file with drawing markups

    Scenario:
I need to turn a sample of a report into a report template, so I am deleting as many objects as I can with the Tools>Content>Edit Object.  For text that I cannot delete that way, I am covering it up with a white box (Comment>Drawing Markups>square and setting outline = white and fill = white).  On this particular PDF, there are about 20 of these white boxes.  I'm then using Preflight>Flatten annotations and form fields to flatten all of the markups.
    Problem:
Unfortunately, even after using Preflight and Save As>Reduced Size PDF, the file size is still over 900 kb.  The original file size before I make any changes is less than 150 kb.  I need the final file size to be 200-300 kb.
    Settings:
    Windows 7
    Adobe Acrobat X Pro
    Solutions?
I may be going about this all wrong, so any advice you have is much appreciated!  The only other thing I can think of to do (since I can't get a blank sample report), is to recreate the report in Word and then PDF it.  I'm hoping there's a better solution.  I tried Photoshop first and the file sizes were in the MBs, so I switched to Acrobat.  Maybe a different program would work even better?

Basically that is what Bill is telling you. The best method is to:
create the design of the form in Word.
Save as a PDF (on a Mac the best method is to go to print menu click pdf and hold mouse or track pad button down, and Chose Adobe PDF) .
    Then open PDF in Acrobat
    Click on Tools
Click on Forms and create form. Either letting acrobat create the fields and add or take away fields as need.  Or create fields manually.
This way should you need to make correction you can open the original Word Document, Make chages save as PDF The in open original in PDF. Click on Tools > Pages and choose replace pages and replace desired page(s) as needed. Then readjust fields if needed or add or take fields as needed.

  • How do I create the highest quality pdfs with InDesign CS5 and Acrobat Pro 9?  New settings needed?

I sent a lot of jobs to printing companies by sending them high-res proofs on very large, multiple page jobs with lots of photos and graphics.  Many companies are requesting that I just send pdfs.  I just upgraded to Windows 7 and CS5.  I used to have some special settings in my older Acrobat Distiller  and InDesign which have been lost.  They gave a much better result that what I seem to be getting from the "Press Quality" setting for pdf's.  Does anyone have an excellent list of settings that can used to improve the quality of pdf's?  I don't know if this is a combination of settings in both InDesign itself, as well as in Acrobat Distiller, or if the settings in one program will solve this.  I have a job pending that needs improvement in the pdf quality.  Thank you.

Thanks Peter.  My last post was specific to using the Print Booklet feature (which is now solved thanks to your help).  But this is related to creating high-res pdfs in general that go to printing companies, and being used for sending high-res proofs to clients.  In general I don't need to set up printer spreads for my jobs (just for the one I asked about in my other post), but I used to have some specific settings that a printing company supplied me with to give the highest res pdf output possible.  Those settings did in fact give a better result than the Press Quality settings built into my Adobe programs.  I have had printers over the years request that I create a postscript file, then use distiller (using the settings they supplied) and I got an excellent result.  After getting a new computer, Windows 7 and new CS5 and Acrobat Pro 9 upgrade, all of these settings were lost.  I have notes on the settings from a couple of years ago, but they don't seem to apply to the CS5 programs in every given area and I feel like there may be just a couple of boxes that either should or shouldn't be checked that I'm missing now.
I understand that this is very specific information, and I may just need to go with the Press Quality settings. The printing company that gave me that great info a while back is no longer in business and other printing companies I have checked with won't spend that kind of time with me (or maybe they don't know anything other than using the Print Quality setting).   Maybe within the CS5 program now, the quality of this setting has been improved more than I realize yet.  Again, I'm new to CS5 and am just trying to get everything back to the way I used to have things running, and trying to get the best results possible.
    Thanks again!

  • Pdf with audio files embedded - Acrobat Pro 8 vs Acrobat Reader XI - suggestions?

Hi, I have a problem with a pdf (containing embedded audio files) created with Acrobat Pro 8.
    So, two questions for you.
    1) When I open it with Acrobat Reader XI, the audio files won't be reproduced.
Windows 7 and 8 tell me that there is a codec problem.
Finding the right codec seems to be very hard (looking on the previous threads in this forum I found some links to websites offering codec packs, but when you download them it seem they start offering many other things to download, and this stresses a lot).
    Any other suggestions?
    2) The other question is kind of reverse of the first one: if I create a pdf with Acrobat XI, will an Acrobat Reader 8 or 9 be able to open it and listend to the audio files???
    Thank you,
    aliB

    Dear Pat,
I try to write it again.
Unfortunately installing Flash doesn't solve the problem on Windows 7 and 8 (on the XP it works).
    Kind regards
    Alessandra

  • Issues with Office 2010 and Acrobat Pro 8

    Good Day All;
We are in the middle of upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7 with Office 2010 and I was wondering if there are any issues with importing Office documents into Acrobat Pro 8. I have found out that there are a couple of issue with Office 201 and LifeCycle Designer.
    Any comments would be helpful
    Regards
    Chomp

Acrobat 8 is not compatible with Microsoft Office 2010 and the PDFMaker plugins will not install. Only Acrobat X is compatible with Office 2010, and at this time only in 32-bit mode.
Acrobat 8 is also not officially compatible with Windows 7, again Acrobat X is the first version to carry approval for that OS. It will still install, but Adobe cannot guarantee it will operate perfectly in all cases, and doesn't provide install support for that combination.

  • PDFs open with reader instead of Acrobat Pro

    OS: WinXP
    A/Reader version: 9.3.4
    A/Acrobat Pro version: 7
    Issue:
PDFs open in the Reader and not in Acrobat Pro.  I changed the File Association to open them with Acrobat Pro and it works fine for the rest of the day, but when I log in the next day it reverts back to opening in A/Reader again.  This is an issue because of the way we have to access the PDFs at work, from within IE on a server.
Someone at work thought there might be a registry hack needed to fix this.  I have looked at the registry entries for Reader and Pro, but there's nothing obvious to me.
One other thing that I have not tried as yet is to log in as Administrator and select (tick) the "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" option.  Maybe it might seem obvious that this is what's needed, but it was working fine prior to last week.  The tick is greyed out when logged in as a 'normal' user, but the tick is on too.
I guess someone will suggest I do this anyway and see if it resolves the problem, before looking at the registry.  :-)
Many thanks in advance for all suggestions.
    Paul

Mostly you will get the suggestion to remove one or the other from your system and repair or reinstall the remaining application. It is not a recommended or supported configuration having both.
Another suggestion is to reinstall Acrobat Pro. That works for about 4 out of 10 people.

  • Echosign compatibility with Protection settings of acrobat pro

Acrobat pro has the possibility to protect files and prevent users with access to the document to print or copie text of a document (different than a password to open a pdf file), if i want to use echosign to get aproval of the doccument it no longer possible to maintain the copy/print restriction for all non-signers users? i've been trying in different ways and when i upload a protected pdf on echosign at the end the file loses is initial proctection policies (Copy or print) and obviously if i try to protecte it once is signed its not possible

    Hi Mike,
The protection settings such as Certificates and password provided in Acrobat Pro such as disabled content copying and printing will only applies when the PDF is opened in Adobe Reader or Acrobat. When the document is uploaded in EchoSign, the protection settings such as content copying and printing is not applicable.
Though once the document is signed in EchoSign, a certification is provided with Adobe CDS certificate which when opened via Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader shows a visible indicator guaranteeing that the document hasn't been tampered with.
Though EchoSign doesn’t have this feature currently, but we can forward your request to our developers team to integrate the requested feature in the future releases.

  • Trouble with printing tone from Efex Pro to printer from Lightroom

I am having big trouble with a photo that was toned in Silver Efex Pro 2. When I print, the tone is not there. I have done the same kind of toning before, but never had this problem. I even tried printing a photo that had a lot of tone... not there when I print. I am pretty sure I have all the setting correct. Printing with Epson 2880, Epson Hot Press Bright, Profile for HPB, etc.
After 6 hours (really) with Epson and Adobe, the problem is not solved.
    Help!

    Hi bannyx,
I hate to hear you are having issues.  Does the printer have a valid IP address when connected via Ethernet or wirelessly?  Click Here for steps to take related to this issue. Please see the below information regarding the connection types for this printer.  Also I need a bit more information to proceed if the above link does not resolve the issue.
    Needed information:
    1.  Has the installation been completed from a disk or download?
    2.  Did the installation software detect the networked printer?
    2.  What is the IP of the printer when connected with Ethernet cable?
    3.  Are you able to access the embedded web server for the printer (type IP into address bar of web browser, does printer web page pull)?
    4.  Do you have security software running on the computer?
    5.  Is the router running in mixed mode?
    Connection information:
    1. Ethernet and wireless connectivity are exclusive.  If the device is hard wired with an Ethernet cable, wireless communication is voided (radio disabled) because the printer is networked with a cable.
    2. Disconnecting the USB cable puts the driver in an offline state due to the fact it cannot communicate with the printer.  This is normal; it basically informs the user the device is not communicating.
    Hope this helps!
Also, remember a click on the Kudos star to the left is a quick "Thanks" for a helpful post.
Please select the "Accept as Solution" button on the post that best answers your question.
    I appreciate your input !
    Thank You,
    I work for HP.

  • What do I do with out of date Acrobat Pro? Keep using it or uninstall it?

I need to update my Acrobat Pro 9.5.3 for use with my CS5 Creative Suite. Are you saying it is no longer possible? Then how do I stop that darn Acrobat Update Installer from popping up all the time? Should I be worried about not upgrading (spending more money) when I am running Yosemite 10.10.2 on my iMac?

    Hi Deboah,
You can download and install the updates for Acrobat 9 from: ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/acrobat/win/9.x/
Acrobat 9 has not been tested on Mac Yosemite and you might face compatibility issues with it.

  • Documents Print with Blurry Text in Acrobat Pro 9

I'm running Acrobat Professional 9 on a Windows XP machine.  I recently upgraded to version 9 from version 7.  When I print files in color in version 9, the documents come out with bold-faced font and the text is a little blurry.  The document prints fine in grayscale.  I printed to the same printer from a different computer, using version 7, and the document prints correctly in color.  What can be causing this problem?

... I've heard that Adobe is still going to be supporting Acobat pro 7 for another year or so before dropping it.
"End of Life" for Acrobat 7.x arrived some 15 months ago.
    See: http://www.adobe.com/support/products/enterprise/eol/eol_matrix.html#86
The "special consideration" grace period ended some 13 months ago.
    See: http://blogs.adobe.com/adobereader/2009/12/adobe_reader_and_acrobat_versi.html
You may want to engage in the process of funding and executing the purchase of licenses for a supported release of Acrobat.
    Be well...

  • Trouble with Select tool in Acrobat 9

When I try to make a selection in a .pdf, the selection box is randomly sized and placed.  For example, I select an area in the middle of the page, but when I let go of the mouse the selection box reduces in size and moves up/down the page.  I am selecting an area with graphics, no text.  This does not happen with all my .pdf documents, only certain ones that have been created within certain programs (e.g., ArcGIS 9.3 and geoPDF's).
The Snapshot tool works fine, but the resolution of the selection is much poorer than what I get with the Selection tool after I paste the selection into a Word document.
Is there a way to fix this, or change the settings on the Snapshot tool for better resolution so that I can use that tool instead?
Thanks in advance for your help.

I suspect that's not the problem, as I have no trouble selecting an area of any size I wish of images/objects most of the time.  The Select tool, at least in Acrobat 9, allows you to do this.

    Hi jeromemonange,
Here is some information about creating hyperlinks in a PDF, both to external sources, such as a website, or to another page within the PDF: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/acrobat/X/pro/using/WS58a04a822e3e50102bd615109794195ff-7cb7.w .html

  • Trouble with Round trip between Soundtrack Pro 2 and Final Cut Pro 6

I have edited a home movie together. I then have sent the sequence to Color for grading and then after completing the Color changes and Rendering. I sent it back to Final Cut Pro. It starts out working fine but during the transfer process it stops at somewhere between 50% and 60%. It is during the "Importing XML Data" phase. It just sits there and does not change and I have to force quit to get out of it. The exact same thing happens when I try to round trip from Soundtrack Pro 2 back to Final Cut Pro. So I am unable to make use of the changes I make in these programs.
This is a round trip process that I have successfully made many times before. Nothing has changed. I am working in Final Cut Studio 2 with the latest updates on an Intel Mac. Any advice on how to remedy this situation would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

    Thanks.
What's I've been doing is exporting the Soundtrack files as AIFF files, then importing them into Final Cut...
It's working... at least well enough. Still seems harder then just being able to go back and forth between the two applications.
    Thanks for the advice.

  • Trouble With Password Encryption in Acrobat 8.1 Professional

Can someone suggest a solution or are you experiencing the same problem?  Each time I g
o to password encrypt, I get an erro message saying that 8.1 encountered an error and is closing.
This happens several seconds after clicking on the passord radio button.

Not that silly; but you ideally shouldn't be trying. Although there are some rudimentary (and sometimes unpredictable) editing tools in Acrobat, (I presume you are trying with the TouchUp Object tool as well as the TouchUp Text ?) much better to get it right in the source application and think of the pdf as what it basically is...a print.
For whatever reason, v5 could edit text positioning rather more easily than the later versions.

  • Trouble with windows after deleting Acrobat 9 Standard

After I delete Acrobat Standard 9, via the control Panel's Add/Remove Programs, I can no longer use any thing from the My Computer window (Windows XP).  No matter what I click on the hour glass appears and the workstation freezes,  I have to power down the workstation.  Even when this is done the issue does not go away.  I am forced to redo the desktop image.  This happens no matter which 9.0 update I have installed.  I have tried them all 9.1, 9.12 through 9.4.

I suspect that's not the problem, as I have no trouble selecting an area of any size I wish of images/objects most of the time.  The Select tool, at least in Acrobat 9, allows you to do this.
