Trouble with Dreamweaver Lauching

I have run Dreamweaver for about 2 years. All of a sudden, it
would not launch, but it WOULD register as a recently active
Application in the “Recent Items” menu. If I then try
to restart my computer, I have to force quit Dreamweaver -- even
though, from my point of view, it had never even launched
I have tried to reinstall Dreamweaver using the original CD.
I can reinstall the “Extension Manager” (using
Installer Vise 8.2.1) with no trouble. When I try to reinstall the
Dreamweaver program, itself, it uploads one or two items, asks for
my Password and, then, when I click on “Install” I get
nothing but the spinning multi-colored beach ball and a message
“Searching Macintosh HD.” It just goes on and on and
eventually (I have let it go for 2 hours) I have to shut down. I
have disconnected from the Internet, shut down my McAfee Virus
software, and run “OnyX” several times. Nothing works.
I had tried to re-register my Serial Number but the Adobe site told
me that that number is still properly registered.
I am using a PowerBook G4, running Mac OS X 10.3.9 with 667
MHz PowerPC G4 with memory 512 MB SDRAM
Thank you for any insight.

    Having trouble with dreamweaver cs 6 spry tabbed panels, all content in each tab showes through like it was all created on one page, plus mouse over doesnt work on them.
    This started all of a sudden.
    The entire website is a series of spry tabbed panels.
    http://pacificlaser.com/const.html
    if you click on General construction tab things work ok...
    if you click on Machine control tab, mouse over doesnt work and all page content of each tab show through.
    ive been looking for the answer for 4 months with no success.
    Hope a fellow dreamwever-person can help
    Thanks Rick

    You called it: your links to the SpryAssets are linking to your hard drive, not to the files within the folder on the server.
    Correct these links:
    <script src="file:///C:/Users/work/Desktop/Sites/SpryAssets/SpryTabbedPanels.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <link href="file:///C:/Users/work/Desktop/Sites/SpryAssets/SpryTabbedPanels.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    And you should be good to go.
    Beth
    ps. If you run into more difficulties with the Spry Widgets, take your questions to the Dreamweaver Spry Forum http://forums.adobe.com/community/labs/spry, where they will get quicker attention.

  • Having trouble with Dreamweaver and fireworks willing to pay for support

    I'm new to the forum and i was hoping to get some help with
    dreamweaver and fireworks.
    I built a site on my own using dreamweaver 3 years ago but
    have forgotten almost everything. I am planning on building a new
    web site and have been messing with dreamweaver for over a week
    trying to figure it out, with little success. I bought a web
    building package years ago that included fireworks, dreamweaver,
    freehand and maybe more, but i lost my books on dreamweaver and
    fireworks somehow.
    Anyways, I was trying to learn dreamweaver 3 and fireworks
    and was having a lot of trouble with it. The dreamweaver bible
    assumes you know how to make a navigation bar using fireworks and
    that simply isnt the case for me. So I need help with that.
    Also, i have been having trouble with my template. This is
    how you save your basic page correct? For some reason it doesnt
    save the whole page for me. I figured out the editable regions
    part, I think, but since i didnt know how to make a navigation bar
    I made my own links out of text, and this part isnt saving with the
    template.
    I have a lot more questions but i think ive taken enough of
    your time. I am willing to pay someone to help me build this site,
    i cant afford a lot but i think my questions are pretty basic.
    Thanks

    There is a recent thread on the FW forum that may interest
    you - it's called
    "Firworks and HTML". The advice there applies in your case,
    too.
    One problem with your use of DW3 is this -
    the browser world has changed quite a bit in the almost 10
    years since DW3
    was released. Some (many?) of the behaviors in DW3 simply
    won't work any
    more because of these (significant) changes. Are you
    absolutely locked into
    using DW3?

  • Trouble with Dreamweaver Mx 6.1

    I wonder if anybody can help me.Dreamweaver freezing.
    Sometimes I manage to connect to server and load 1 file, after it
    just freezes. After that happens I cannot even connect to server.
    When I do a test connection from the edit box it connects, so I
    have the right settings in the edit box. I changed my broadband
    from BT to Virgin would this have any effect, seems since then
    Dreamweaver has been freezing. also changed firewall settings to
    allow Dreamweaver to work.
    Thank you I hope somebody can help me, its driving me mad.

  • Is anyone having trouble with Dreamweaver CS5?

    I am unable to create a new site or  manage sites. Upon save Dreamweaver tells me "WARNING: The Spry assets  folder is not inside the site. Please select a valid folder in your  local site root."
    I have created a SpryAssets folder, unistalled and reinstalled  Dreamweaver, tried just about everything including calling Adobe tech  support with no resolution (twice). Adobe has "elevated" my case (again), but I think  that means "We don't know, so go away." (Sorry, Adobe, I'm VERY frustrated  here!)
    Anybody got any ideas?

    Thanks for the help, Ben.
    I did clear the cache and the problem still exists. Then I unistalled my Dreamweaver CS5, downloaded a trial version, installed that one, but that didn't work either.
    Here are some screen captures of the dialog boxes that I am experiencing:
    This is the first warning I get when trying to establish a site.
    So then I select the SpryAssets folder in my main folder.
    Again, I get the warning.
    Then the only way out of the dialog box is to hit cancel, without establishing a site.
    I would greatly appreciate it if anyone has seen this problem and been able to solve it. It's driving me crazy.
    By the way, I am running Macintosh OS 10.5.8. Could this be the problem?

  • Trouble with dreamweaver integration

    I installed Dreamweaver CS3 a while ago and was using it with
    Fireworks 8. I just upgraded to fireworks cs3. I changed the
    preferences so Dreamweaver looks for cs3 instead of 8. But when I
    go to edit a png from the link in dreamweaver, I don't have full
    access to the png. My graphic is there, but I can't access the
    popup menu. If I just open the same file in fireworks, it works
    just fine. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix that?

    Do you have a Site defined in Dw? This is required I believe.
    If not, then define the site then follow along below.
    Then reopen the original .png file, save it under a 'folder'
    under the site.
    Resave it out as gif or jpg to a folder under the site.
    Now in Dreamweaver, select the image, go to the Property
    Inspector, and click the Fw icon command. This will launch Fw,
    using the source .png file.
    In Fw you should notice a few extra items - upper left (Tab
    Bar) should have a Done command button with a line of text to the
    right of it saying 'Editing from Dreamweaver'. Click Done when you
    know you are finished with editing to close down the file.
    On the right (Tab Bar) you should see an up/down 'Get/Put'
    File Management icon command. This allows you to seemlessly make
    edits to the source .png file 'Put' it back to the dreamweaver site
    and upate the image in your html file.
    File > Update within Fw also equates to 'Pushing' both the
    source and the optimized image back to your Dw site.
    Hope these makes sense.

  • Trouble with Dreamweaver CS3 Install

    Greetings all. I installed Dreamweaver CS3. After this, I had
    a system problem (unrelated) to which I had to do a system restore
    which went back to before Dreamweaver CS3 was installed.
    I now want to install The Web Premium CS3, but the install
    says I can't install Dreamweaver because of a conflict. There is no
    uninstall (in control panel) for Dreamweaver CS3 and there are not
    even any EXE files in it's folders (product of System Restore I am
    guessing?)
    How can I get this uninstalled so I can install the entire
    package?

    1) Padding is only placed on the top and/or bottom of the divs. The elements within these divs have padding on their sides. This saves you from any "box model math". Keep in mind, if you add any side padding or border to the div itself, it will be added to the width you define to create the *total* width. You may also choose to remove the padding on the element in the div and place a second div within it with no width and the padding necessary for your design.
    2) No margin has been given to the columns since they are all floated. If you must add margin, avoid placing it on the side you're floating toward (for example: a right margin on a div set to float right). Many times, padding can be used instead. For divs where this rule must be broken, you should add a "display:inline" declaration to the div's rule to tame a bug where some versions of Internet Explorer double the margin.
    3) Since classes can be used multiple times in a document (and an element can also have multiple classes applied), the columns have been assigned class names instead of IDs. For example, two sidebar divs could be stacked if necessary. These can very easily be changed to IDs if that's your preference, as long as you'll only be using them once per document.
    4) If you prefer your nav on the right instead of the left, simply float these columns the opposite direction (all right instead of all left) and they'll render in reverse order. There's no need to move the divs around in the HTML source.

    Close the image tag at the end:
    <img... ...height:800;" />
    You need to go through your <ul> and <li> tags very, very carefully.  You have some mismatched elements (missing closing tags) in your huge list.
    Here:
    <p>
         <!-- end .content -->
         <!-- InstanceBeginEditable name="EditRegion4" --><!-- InstanceEndEditable -->
       <p> </p>
    You have missed a closing </p> tag
    These input elements need closing like this
    <input name="allcountry" value="ALLROMANIA" type="hidden" />
    You may have too many closing </div> tags at the end of your page.
    Check your site in the validator: http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.canonguy.net%2FKehilaLinktest %2F
    Fix the problems you can and then revalidate it to see how you are getting on.

  • Trouble with dreamweaver templates

    I am modifying a site which is stored remotely.
    I'm having no problem working with the site generally (I've
    been uploading test pages and they run fine, can download pages
    onto the local machine etc), but when I try to use a template to
    design a page I run into problems in that I can't access the
    templates remotely.
    When I go to file->new->Templates I can access local
    templates and use them fine, but I can't get to the remote
    templates (they aren't listed). Of course, if I use the locally
    stored templates then the sites have all the links relative to the
    template on the local machine.
    Any help would be great
    Cheers,
    Adam

    > How do I use these templates?
    Download them to your local site, and use them locally.
    > <img src="../../image1.jpg">
    A template can never contain a link like this. Since all
    templates must be
    in the Templates folder, and the Templates folder is in the
    root of the
    site, all links in a template MUST be like this -
    <img src="../image1.jpg....
    or like this -
    <img src="/image1.jpg....
    or occasionally (and rarely) like this -
    <img src="image1.jpg....
    That's your only options.
    > <img src="file:///C|/My%20Documents/image1.jpb>
    That means you have neither properly defined your site, nor
    properly placed
    the template file into the Templates folder (and it probably
    means you
    haven't read the F1 Help pages about templates, too).
    > And the link stays like that above, even when I upload
    it to the server
    > (which
    > means the website only displays properly on my computer)
    Templates only have local action, as you have been told. They
    only work
    INSIDE DW, on your local files, which must then be uploaded
    to the server
    once they have been changed. There is never a need to upload
    the template
    files (the *.dwt files) themselves, other than to share them
    with someone.

  • Trouble with Dreamweaver HELP

    Dreamweaver isn't allowing me to insert a table however if I
    type in the HTML code for the table it will allow me to edit it. I
    have inserted it in the past, I go to INSERT>TABLE and nothing
    happens. Do I have a setting problem? I am very new to this so
    forgive me for my ignorance.

    Go to View > Table Mode and make sure that Standard Mode
    is selected.

  • Hello, i am having trouble with dreamweaver cs4 justify?

    i have some text in a table and when i put justify on p
    my text gets justify but gets some spaces in between words.
    what could be causing this?
    thanks for the help.
    picture of the text

    Cary is right, that's how it works.  You need to remember that this is not like a word processor or a printing process, it's the web and text justification can cause more weirdness cross browser than what it's worth  :-)

  • Trouble with Dreamweaver CS4 activation

    Hi,
    I have been using a 30day trial downloaded from the DW Adobe
    page. The trial expired whilst my purchased DW CS4 was in transit.
    Today it arrived and I installed it, however when I am prompted to
    enter my serial number, found on the back of the DVD, it tells me
    the serial number I am entering is not valid. Ive tried time and
    time again, and checked the digits thoroughly.
    Can anyone kindly advise me? Could there be a conflict
    because I installed the new version without uninstalling the trial
    previously? I am at my wits end.
    Thank you.

    OK, after some blood sweat and tears and exhaustive hunting
    through the adobe site, I found the solution.
    If anyone else finds themself in the same predicament, the
    problem is likely to be caused by the language options you choose
    when installing the product.

  • DW MX trouble with loading PDF files

    I'm using Dreamweaver MX on an XP Pro machine and have
    trouble loading pdf documents to my web pages. It cooperates
    intermittently. I'm using a virtual pdf printer to convert word
    documents to pdf, then saving them to my website folder, selecting
    the linking text on my page in DW, using the link box to select my
    pdf document, then saving the page and putting files in both the
    local and remote views.
    This method has worked for me before, and now it's not. Does
    anyone know of a reason for this? The documents are saved
    correctly, as I can get them to open as pdf outside of dreamweaver
    and my webpage...when I click on the link I created online I get
    "page not found."
    Thanks for any help!

    I am having the same trouble with Dreamweaver MX 2004 on
    Mac-OSX since I switched from MacOs9. I still have no solution .
    When I want to export a .pdf file I get a message saying <ftp
    error>.
    I never had problems on Mac Os 9 and it started when using
    the first version of Mac Os X. I am presently using mac Os 10.4.10
    and I am still unable to transfer .pdf files, no matter whether I
    use acrobat or the Mac system to produce the.pdf file.
    When I try the page on my computer the link to the.pdf file
    functions allright, but not on the server as the file cannot be
    transfered to it by the software.
    Does someone know how to solve this ?

  • Problems controlling divs with dreamweaver cs4

    Hi all, so I have been hard coding my website and have had great success with the layout and everything.  I am having trouble with dreamweaver cs4, does anyone know if cs4 is compatible with html5?  My silicone cupcake liners website looks great but a nice transition to dreamweaver would save a lot of work.

    DWCS4 won't be able to correctly read the html5 semantic tags like <nav><aside> or <header> while in Live View. The built in version of the quasi-webkit browser is just too old.
    Design View will work for the most part, but does get confused by certain things within HTML5 specific tags, so that will look even more broken than normal.
    It also will not automatically generate any HTML5 specific code, there are no HTML5 menu options and there is no update to make it do that.
    The program itself is no longer supported by Adobe, being the 5th version removed from "current"...

  • Dynamic Drop Down List Trouble in Dreamweaver

    I am having trouble with Dreamweaver 8 and php with MySQL.
    Basically, I have a main page, index.php that includes a
    header file that I use to display my header using readfile like
    this:
    <?php readfile("header.php"); ?>
    Inside of header.php, there is code to create a drop down
    list. I am trying to populate this list from my database, but I
    cannot get this to work.
    This is the code snippet:
    <form name="storeShowSelect" method="GET"
    class="sf_select" target='newwin'>
    <input name="selectStore" type="hidden" value="17999">
    <select name="storeSelect"
    onChange="jumpToLink(this);">
    <option disabled selected >--- Select a store
    ---</option>
    <?php
    do {
    ?>
    <option value="<?php echo
    $row_marketplaceStoreNames['storeName']; ?>">
    <?php echo
    $row_marketplaceStoreNames['storeDisplayName']; ?>
    </option>
    <?php
    } while ($row_marketplaceStoreNames =
    mysql_fetch_assoc($marketplaceStoreNames));
    ?>
    </select>
    </form>
    It looks like this is only inserting one blank row in the
    drop down list. When testing my recordset in Dreamweaver, I do get
    the rows of data that I am expecting.
    Can anyone possibly help me figure out what I am doing wrong
