Trouble with Fast Forward in Sony cassette TCD5M

All functions work well except when placed in Fast Forward, the speed is intermittently slow and stop.
What needs to be adjusted?
Xeno

I need more information about the issue:
1. Are you using the correct tape?
2. Does it happen on all tapes that you've tried?
3. Were those same tapes played fine before?
4. If the same problem happen on all tapes, try cleaning the tape heads. Attached are the steps:
5. If issue recurs on all tapes then service may be required.

  • Problem with fast forward of trackball in media player of 8330

    I'm a fairly new BB owner of a Sprint 8330 Curve.  I've checked the newbies site on Crackberry and checked here also.  Can anyone help with this problem:
    I've downloaded some MP3 audiobooks from my local public library.  They play fine, but the problem is that it always starts at the beginning every time.  The book is in multiple parts, each of which is 60 minutes long, each of which is treated as a single song.  I can see the reverse, pause, and fast forward buttons but I can't get the trackball to work with them.
    When I scroll the trackball to the right to fast forward, it scrolls to the next part of the book, not within the same part (song).  When I scroll the trackball left, it goes back to the last song.  When I scroll it up or down, the whole playlist shows up on the screen and I can scroll through those.
    I found one post that talked about how to fast forward video, but it showed a different screen that mine.
    I just can't get the trackball to position itself on the progress bar or on the controls.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks.

    I've got the same problem with my BlackBerry 8330.  I have v4.5.0.169 (Platform 3.4.0.51). Once i start an audio file, I am unable to select the scroll bar above the play so that I can fast forward through the song, book, etc.

  • Prob with fast forward

    I only use the mini to listen to audiobooks. Sometimes it loses its place and when I try to fast forward or rewind it either goes all the way back to beginning or 1-2 hours ahead. I've noticed a "bar" that is segmented that appears below the name, title of book, etc and it I have a 5 hr book, then there are 5 bars and when I push ff, it goes ahead by an hour. How did I get this bar on there, or better yet, how do I get it off so that I can at least ff in increments of minutes. Nothing in manual about this that I've seen. Thanks so much for helping me.

    The segments should represent chapters. Pressing fast forward once quickly releasing it should cause it to jump to the next segment.
    To fast forward without "jumping" press and hold the fast forward button. You should hear it as it skips ahead.
    Alternatively, you can press the select button (center button) and you should see a diamond appear over a bar. You can then scroll ahead or back and the diamond will indicate the play position. Press the select button again to return to the previous display.
    Regards.

  • Trouble with port forwarding, DHCP, VUZE, and downloading speed.

    I am using Vuze to download things. I have a slow download speed and yellow smiley face, indicating a NAT problem. I think I need to implement a port forwarding, but that requires a static IP address. My router and security is set up such that I CANNOT connect to the internet using a manual configuration--DHCP only. However, I always have the same IP address. This is because the wireless router--a Motorola SB900--will only recognize approved computers designated by the IP address.
    Can anyone advise on what to do next?

    Here are two links that will rate your connection.

    you are dealing with two networks. There is a network between your computer and your router. There is a second network between your router and your ISP.
    Port-forwarding is from your router to your computer.
    http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Motorola/SBG900/Azure us.htm
    However, I always have the same IP address. This is because the wireless router--a Motorola SB900--will only recognize approved computers designated by the IP address.

    You need to set Port-forwarding between your computer and your router. You will need a fixed IP address on a your Computer. There is to ways of doing this. You can set up a static IP address on your computer. A hack would be to add 10 or 20 to your IP address that your router gives out. For example if your router gives out 192.168.1.10 you of would add 10 to the ten giving 192.168.1.20. you need to make the addition to the right most number of which in the example is ten.
    The section way is . . . You can have your router a signed a fixed address based on your MAC address. ( Each Internet device has a fixed address that is called the MAC address. This is a different address than your IP address. the MAC address is assigned in the factory. )
    Another hack would be to Port-forward to the number your router assigned at random. If your Computer is the only computer on the router, the number should always be the same. It is a hack because this is not guaranteed.

    If you want such a thing consider using x11vnc or something similar.
    It might not have been intended, or particularly useful but you certainly can do it, I've ssh'd to the maths dept computers at college and started kde from the terminal. I only did it for fun a few times, but thankfully their servers can handle the load, and the intranet is quite fast so I had no problems. I generally only get mathematica, konqueror, or firefox forwarded to my laptop.
    As Rookie said, vnc might be a better option for you. Personally I have vnc on all my experimental* pcs so I can check/control them from home, and if you want to you can still use ssh forwarding to have a more secure connection than just using vnc on its own. It also means you can view/run your apps from any non *nix OS. We have it running on one of our old amigas that still controls one setup, always amusing to vnc to!
    For reference, here is the command I call when I login to my maths account:
    sudo ssh -Y -L 5901:server.dns:5901 [email protected]
    This forwards the local port (-L) 5901 to 5901 on the server (useful for tunneling through the proxy).
    I already have a vnc server running on the server, so once I have ssh'd in, in my local terminal I call
    vnc localhost:1
    This will then tunnel throught the ssh connection and will connect to the vnc server on my maths account. You might have noticed the -Y switch, that is for secure X11 forwarding, there is another one -X which is unsecure, you can check it in the ssh man pages. With the -Y switch I can call apps such as mathematica from the maths dept and have it forwarded to my local X11.
    One other thing that you might find useful is SSHFS: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Sshfs
    I use this to mount remote folders such as my data folders in experimental pcs, my main lab pc, and my maths accounts. I find it much more convenient to use than samba.
    * As in pcs controlling experimental setups and measurements, not pcs that are tests/prototypes

  • Fast forward problem in iTunes 6.0.1.3

    Hello
    I am using iTunes 6.0.1.3 on Windows XP Pro.
    The situation is this. I have a song that is 7:30 long. When I play it normally it works just fine. However when I use the fast forward and advance to time mark 6:45 and start playing it is actually playing the part of the song that is at 6:00 (within a second or two), I let it go ahead and play and when it gets to 7:30 it just stops and jumps to the top of the menu tree (both it iTunes and on my ipod (40 gig 4g).
    I have tried the fast forwarding in Music Match and Adobe Audition and it works just fine. I have tested the mp3 file with all the editors and players I have and it works great.
    It appears there is some type of synch issue with fast forward and I don't really know where to start.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank You.

    Well, I've noticed this problem at work (while using my work laptop on a network with other users -- some who have iTunes 5 and some iTunes 6) and at home (using a completely different laptop).
    At first I thought it was a configuration problem on my work laptop, but now I'm thinking it has something to do with iTunes itself.
    The weird thing is: People at work who use iTunes 5.0 can see the shared drives without a problem. Those with 6.0 cannot. So this problem is replicating itself in two completely different environments -- leading me to believe it's something in iTunes 6. Hmm....

  • Fast forward problems with 2nd room DVR

    I am enjoying my new FIOS set up very much.  I have the Home Media option on my HD DVR and STBs.  I'm having trouble with the "Fast Forward" when watching shows in my "non" DVR room.  When the show is longer than about 45 minutes... after scanning thru commericals the program jumps back to the beginning.  This is very frustrating and in some ways defeats the purpose of the multi-room option.  I'm considering canceling this option but wanted to check first to see if there's an easy fix.
    Thanks in advance.
    Arnie

    Hey nascar,
    All three problems are reported issues and due up to be fixed.  The first of your problems isnt a problem with the site, as it is a problem with IMG.  The DVR content isnt being flagged properly after finishing it.  Number two, you already know what is causing it.  I don't know too much about this problem as ad insertion is handled on the network level.  I do know they are reporting to be working on a fix at this time.  Only a few areas at this time experience this problem as verizon does not locally insert ads in every market.  Number three has been around for a while. We have attempted to fix it but the "fix" actually broke more things than it fixed so we had to pull it off the boxes.  This one is still a work in progress to be fixed.

    Some files cause fast forward problems. Suppose I fast forward to the end of the song. Then I reach the - 00:00.00 marker. HOWEVER, the song goes on and on. It doesn't stop, even if it should (these files aren't corrupt, they work properly on my pc). • Trouble with bridge mode and port forwarding

    I have a Westell Model 6100F DSL modem in bridge mode into my network and I'm having trouble forwarding ports. Is there any general guidance available to do this. I have set many of my friends networks up to allow port forwarding but all have been on other service providers, mainly cable. (my experience) My network is the only one I have had trouble with.
    Basically, my question is, while in bridge mode, does the modem forward all incoming traffic to my NAT router or do I need to apply special port forwarding settings in the modem to allow this?
    If bridge mode is the reason I cannot forward the ports, can someone explain how to set the WEstell 6100F back to factory defaults so I can start over.
    Any other suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.
    Paul

    If bridge mode is set up correctly, your router should be holding the Public IP address (basically not something that is a 192.168 address) as shown at http://www.whatismyip.com/ and compared against what IP your router has.
    If your router has the public IP, all problems lie with either your router or your PC's firewall and configuration. I'd check out portforward.com for some guides on forwarding ports for your router or poarticular application if you need some additional help.

    i am having trouble with downloading videos from my Sony HDR-XR160 video camera. iMovie doesnt open up when i connect the camcorder. any suggesions?

    Looking up your camera online, I found it is capable of 1920 x 1080 Full HD 60p Recording. It's the 60p (60 frames per second Progressive) that's the problem I think. iMovie '11 will do 60i (Interlaced). You might need to convert it from the format the camera currently uses into another format to get it into iMovie. Read more about it on this link here: How to import 60p footage From that message thread comes the recommendation to use ClipWrap to convert the camera's video clips now that they are in 60p:

    Use ClipWrap to rewrap to QuickTime. Import the files. Edit in either 59.94 or 29.97. The latter if you want to use the high frame rate for slomo

  • Avchd video file made with Premiere Elements 8 won't fast forward or reward

    I just finished an AVCHD video project in Premiere 8 and I can't fast forward or rewind the file on my computer with Windows Media Player or in Windows Media Center. The file plays nicelly but it's annoying watch it from start to finish for 45 minutes.
    I have a Vixia HF S20 - the video format of the original files was ACHD. After finishing editing the project I choose to save it on my PC (a Dell Inspiron 8100 with I5 - so lots of power awailable) as a MPEG file. I noticed that this format was the only one that gave me the option to save the video in H.264 1920x1080i 30 preset.
    The rendering of the video took some 3 hours. It saved the video in AVCHD format and at playback, on my computer screen, it looks just as it should - HD quality - but the lack of controls it's really, really stupid!
    Anyway, I need help to figure out what is happening here. Did I do something wrong? Are there other saving settings/presets to choose from that retain the HD quality I am not aware of?  Thanks a million in advance!

    Well, if you are weighing things against WMP, it could be that PrE could have done something differently.
    Now, I am not a fan of WMP, and am REALLY not a fan of RealMedia Player. I liken that latter one to a Trojan, waiting to happen. I last had a version installed about 12 years ago, and would never let another copy near any of my computers.
    Besides the two that I mentioned, GOM Player gets high marks, as well.
    Good luck,

  • Trouble with forward() method in a Servlet

    I am new to Servlets and am having trouble with one that queries a database and forwards the data to a JSP. A portion of the code is below (The <i> are really , but are being displayed wrong).
                   for(int i = 0; i < numberOfRows; i++)
                        data2[0] = rs.getString("REIMBUR_DATE");

                        data2[i][4] = "reimbur total";
                        data2[i][5] = rs.getString("BOOK_RATE_REVENUE");
                        data2[i][6] = rs.getString("BOOK_ROOM_TAX");
                        data2[i][7] = "rebate";
                        data2[i][8] = "tax rebate";
                        rs.next();
                   request.setAttribute("CERT_INFO", data);
                   request.setAttribute("OTHER_INFO", data2);
                   request.setAttribute("NUMBER_ROWS", new Integer(numberOfRows));
                   ServletContext context = getServletContext();
                   RequestDispatcher dispatcher = context.getRequestDispatcher("/certdetails.jsp");
                   dispatcher.forward(request, response);
              catch(Exception ee)
                   PrintWriter out = null;
                   response.setContentType("text/html");
                   out = response.getWriter();
                   out.println("<html>");
                   out.println("<body>");
                   out.println("Exception !!<br>");
                   out.println(ee.getMessage());
                   out.println("</body>");
                   out.println("</html>");
    When I include the line with the forward() method, I get an exception and the message is "1998-08-20", the contents of data2[numberOfRows - 1][0]. I don't know why an exception is being generated or how it is getting this database value as its message. What's going on?

    Nevermind, I found the problem. There was an error in my JSP. I don't know how it affected the Servlet as it did, but...who cares!!

  • VHS import (via Sony DVcam), some tapes display video only in fast forward

    I, like many others, have been copying my VHS tapes to iMovie. This has been going fine, but I have part of one tape and all of another where no video displays when the tape is played on the VCR, UNLESS that is, one is fast forwarding or reversing, when it looks fine (though a bit faster than desirable for capture).
    My old VCR died, and I picked up a nice used Panasonic at Goodwill (couldn't even find one at the local electronic store except as dedicated VHS to DVD). It seems to work fine (much better than my old one in fact).
    Any idea on what my problem is? My old VHS camera was an Olympus that could also record SVHS (I think that was what the higher-quality mode was called). Is that something that requires an SVHS VCR to play? I did use to know this stuff, but it's lost in the distant-past memory cells.
    Many thanks,
    Steve

    It sounds as if the questionable tapes may have been recorded in LP (Long Play) mode. This gives a much narrower recording band on the tape, which may not match up with other tape decks unless the head alignment exactly matches the original.
    Maybe your new, er 'used', Panasonic doesn't have an LP playback speed, or - as it's a 'used' machine - the heads aren't quite as properly aligned as they should be ..or perhaps that was the case with your old VHS camera.
    S-VHS video won't play back at all on normal VHS equipment - although the sound should be OK if it was recorded on the normal lower-quality 'longitudinal' track (..S-VHS also embeds higher quality audio on an audio track within the video, just like digital video).
    So yes; S-VHS does need an S-VHS machine to play it.
    LP recordings need an LP-capable VHS player (..most are..) but tolerances between the original equipment, on which the tape was recorded, and the playback device need to be fairly tight.
    Have you tried adjusting the Tracking control? ..or try playing the tapes on a JVC player which has a 'BEST' facility, and which tries to adjust the tracking for you.
    Otherwise, as Bengt suggests, try to play the tapes on various other machines till you find one which gives a decent picture!

  • Is there a way to fast forward a podcast/music with some precision?

    Is there a magnifying glass tool available to fast forward/rewind podcasts?

    Yeah, but come on, that pales in comparison to the control you had with the wheel. I still can't believe that they didn't come up with some kind of touch-screen equivalent of the control you had with the wheel. Holding the button down is like chasing a moving target, although it's better than using your thumb to move the dot, which is completely worthless.
