Trouble with getting my printer to work with TC

I don't know if this is a unique problem or not but I have had my hands full with TC ever since upgrading to 10.5.5. First, I spent countless hours trying to get TC to resume backups after the upgrade. I finally got TC to work again by erasing it and reinstalling it like it was new to the system. It took well over 24 hours to get my HD backed up but at least everything is working now. Backups have resumed in an orderly fashion.
My latest problem is with my Canon Pixma iP4300. All of a sudden today it stopped showing up in my printer list. Nothing I did could get it to appear. I removed and reinstalled the software, including the latest update from the Canon website. Nothing.
Because I need the printer for my work I finally unplugged it from the TC and ran it straight into the back of my iMac. Voila! Everything is fine as long as I stay away from my TC. What's going on???

Try these suggestions...
*Resetting Printing System*
On all of the Macs that are affected try resetting the Printing System as described in these KB articles:
Mac OS X: About the Reset Printing System feature

Mac OS X 10.5 Help: Resetting the printing system
[http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/14001.html]
To reset the printing system: Choose Apple menu > System Preferences and click Print & Fax. Hold down the Control key as you click in the Printer list, and choose “Reset printing system” from the pop-up menu that appears. Add the printers you use.
Additionally, are you using a USB hub between the printer and the USB port on the TC? Some users have discovered that not all hubs are compatible with the TCs USB port.
If the above does not resolve your issue, then...
Launch Airport Utility.
Select your TC on the left.
Click "Manual Setup".
Select "Printers" from the toolbar at the top.
Verify that the printer listed is indeed the printer connected to the TC.
If not, cycle the power on the printer. Now see if things improve.

  • How do I get the printer to work with AirPort?

I have had my printer connected via USB cable to the AirPort for a while, but recently when I had to disconnect the printer for some home improvement, I ended up with problems.
Upon reconnecting the printer to the AirPort, I started receiving this message:
    USB Power
A device connected to this Apple Wi-Fi base station's USB port requires more power than this Apple Wi-Fi base station can provide.  Plug the device into a power supply if possible, or connect it to a powered USB hub.
My printer is connected to a power source, but I still cannot print to it.  I can see the printer when I send something to be printed, but it will not actually print.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to get my printer to work again?

Thanks for the detail. The dash separates the "main" and "guest" network.
There are a number of settings that are 2.4 GHz on both networks. The only time the dash separates 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz is on the last 3 settings.
Since the printer specifications available on the HP site show it is a b/g device only, I suspect that the printer does not like the current guest setting of 802.11 b/g/n you are currently using, which is also what it would be if the AEBS was set on Automatic.
    Try the following setting:
    802.11n only 5 GHz - 802.11 b/g
It's really the only choice that would keep the 5 GHz that you want on the "main" network and possibly allow the printer to connect. Unfortunately, the optimal choice for range and speed is not the setting that you may need to work with the printer.
If the printer still won't connect, I would call it a day and when it comes time for a new printer, look first for an ethernet device or at least an "n" device that will handle 5 GHz if you want a wireless printer. The advantage of an ethernet printer would be that it would also work over your wireless.
Please post back on your findings.

  • How to get Network Printing to work with Brother!!

So i have my BROTHER DCP-7020 printer connected to my Windows machine and i've been sharing the printer on the network with my old iMac 24' which prints perfectly. Now i have the 27' imac and i have no idea why it won't do printing via network, plugging in USB works fine, i've installed the driver but it doesn't look like it did anything. It just worked on my 24' without any hassle, it gets detected in the "Printer Settings" automatically and i dont recall doing anything to get it to work before.
Can anyone give me some tips of why it won't print and what I need to do in order to get network printing to work on my new Mac?
By the way BOTH MACHINE runs SNOW LEOPARD.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Since upgrading, both our wireless printers are still visible, but OSX will not connect with them.  Both work via connecting from other sources via the same wireless router (airport).  What do I need to do to get my printing/scanning working again?

Since upgrading, both our wireless printers are still visible, but OSX will not connect with them.  Both work via connecting from other sources via the same wireless router (airport).  What do I need to do to get my printing/scanning working again?

First thing to try is reset Printing System:
OS X Mavericks: Reset the printing system
Next would be reset the router (power off 15 secs then back on). And, 2 minutes later, reset the printers 1 by 1.

  • I am trying to get my printer to work.

I am trying to get my printer to work. It is a Canon MP240, it does not show up in the printers menu. Though it is plugged in via USB.

This printer does have a driver available via Software Update, meaning that when you connect the printer to the Mac via USB cable the driver should be downloaded and installed automatically for you. Of course this will not occur if the Mac cannot detect the printer at the end of the cable. So if you open Print & Scan, select to Add and the MP240 is not shown in the Default Add Printer view then there could be a problem with the USB cable or with the printer.
To double-check if the printer can be seen by the Mac, open System Information and under the Hardware entry in the sidebar, select USB. Then in the top right pane you will see all the USB connections on your Mac and what is currently connected to them. If the MP240 is not shown, then try moving the cable to a different USB port on the Mac. And don't use a USB hub or the USB port on the keyboard. If moving doesn't help the printer appear under one of the USB busses, then try a different USB cable. If that still doesn't help, turn off the power to the printer and unplug the power cord for 10 minutes before reconnecting and turning it back on.

  • I can't get my printer to work since I loaded snow leopard???

If I delete snow leopard will I be able to use safari again and get my printer to work again???

I am afraid if you can't print with any applications in Mac OS this is not a problem specific to Firefox and we can't be of much help.
I'd suggest contacting [https://www.apple.com/support/country/ Apple Support] if this is the case.

  • Can't get my printer to work

Hi, I have just bought an apple iMac and I can't get my printer to work. It is a Sansung ML laser 4500. I tried to download a driver on thee Samsung website but can't get a driver. Please advise how I can get this printer to work as I don't want to buy another printer.
    Please help.
    Michael

Samsung does not have an OS X driver for their 4500 series printers. You can check in Print & Fax to see if a driver is provided in OS X, but if Samsung doesn't make a driver for OS X then it's unlikely you will find one that works. Of course you can try the Generic driver, but no guarantee it will work. If it does only some printer functions will be supported, if any.

  • HT4356 I can't get air print to work from my iPhone 4. I've verified everything. Th phone gets WIFI from AT&T. Computer's WIFI through Netgear, Charter.  How do I resolve this?

I can't get air print to work from my iPhone 4. I have newest phone operating system, and the phone is air print enabled.
The phone gets WIFI from AT&T.  My computer, to which my printer is wirelessly connected, gets WIFI from Charter Communications and a Netgear router.
That must be the problem.  How do I resolve that?

For Airprint to work your iPhone and printer must be on the same local network. Your printer must support Airprint (see here for list: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356).
Can you connect your iPhone to the Netgear router WiFi?

  • HT3669 Hi I have a Konica Minolta PagePro 1300W printer. This works with my Windows-based Toshiba laptop but not with my i-Mac. Can someone please advise me how I get the printer to work with my i-Mac? I have installed it but documents don't print. Thanks

Hi I have a Konica Minolta PagePro 1300W printer. This works with my Windows-based Toshiba laptop but not with my i-Mac. I have the latest (Mountain Lion 10.8.2) OS-X software.
I have installed the printer using 'System Preferences' on my i-Mac and it appears on the list of available printers but documents that I create just don't print.
Can someone please advise me how I get the Konica Minolta PagePro 1300W printer to work with my i-Mac?
    Thanks, John Lee

Looking at the Konica web site for the PagePro 1300W, I saw the following note.
Please note: This printer is designed to be used in computer operating systems running MS Windows only. Operating systems such as UNIX, Macintosh, or Linux are not supported nor do we have workaround drivers available. Older MS Windows versions, such as Windows 3.1/95/98[pre-SE] and NT 3.51/4.0, are not supported.
So KM are not going to help you. But the LinuxFoundation does provide a workaround that should allow you to print. Have a look at this web page. You will need to install all three packages as per the instructions from that page.

  • Can't get out.print to work with XML jsp tags

    <jsp:scriptlet>
    if(ErrorTrap == true) {
         out.println("<tr><td colspan=\"center\" align=\"center\">There was" an error while processing the form</td></tr>");
         ErrorTrap = false;
    </jsp:scriptlet>
I can't get this script to work with the XML stype jsp tags. It keeps telling me the <jsp> tags are untermintaed. Is there a special trick to fix this or do I have to use the non-XML type tags?

Sorry, I didn't mean to put the extra " in the out.println text string. :-/

  • How do I get my printer to work with my iPhone/ipad wirelessly

how do I get my printer epson workforce 610 wirless to work from my iphone/ipad?  I downloaded the epson printer app.

    Maryannebrabander,
Your comment " ... It was printing great until I did this upgrade." brought to mind a thought:
If you're ever in the SIlicon Valley area of California, specifically Mountain View, CA, I strongly recommend a visit to the Computer History Museum there.  This page from the Museum website shows a Calcomp plotter advertisement from 1969:
    http://www.computerhistory.org/revolution/mainframe-computers/7/161/689
My question to you is should the iPhone be able to print to the Calcomp plotter?  If not, exactly how old would you have a printer (or plotter) be before you dropped support for it?  If you ever do drop support, then that would occur at some discrete time - one day it would work, then something would be updated and it would no longer work.

  • Network Newbie: Can't seem to get "Shared Printer" to work

I've been struggling with this for close to a week now and it's driving me (and my wife) crazy.
I have a nice, older iMac (see specs below) that I am trying to (desperately) connect to my wife's shiny new MacBook in order to share a printer.
I went to the Belkin website and used their "wizard" to get set up wth an N-1 wireless router (nice!) and a "2-port USB print server" (not so nice). Well, I managed to get the router working, but the print server is being a pain.
I can get the "printer setup utility" to see the server (via the server IP addressing), but I can't get anything but "generic postscript printer" (via the "print using:..." pull-down menu) or listing of a couple of printers whose names are close to, but not exactly the same as the printer I'm trying to hook up (in this case HP Photosmart D7360). I spent an hour or so with Belkin support and that was the best we could do. I was able to get the printer to print from both the iMac & the MacBook but after spitting out the job, the printer would say that it was still printing while the computers would say that the job is complete. I have another, older printer that I tired to hook up and got the same results.
I also tried connecting the printer directly to the iMac and using the "print & fax" system perferences to turn on "share printer". The printer would show up on the MacBook, but anytime I tried to print anthing, the beach ball of death would appear.
Anyway, I'm hoping somebody will be able to steer me in the right direction before my wife and I get a divorce over my obsession to get this priting thing going.
    Thanks in advance.
    iMac 700MHz G3   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   SuperDrive Upgrade

Thank you for your response, but... I saw the light!!!
After countless hours of frustration with technical support from both Belkin (not Mac friendly) and even Apple ("I'm sorry, but we don't offer connection support with non-Apple products"), I ordered an AirPort Extreme on Wednesday, recieved it Friday, configured it to in about an hour to print from both computers on Saturday, and will repackage all of Belkin's stuff and return it on Monday.
I just can't believe how much trouble I could have avoided if I bought the perceived "more expensive" AirPort in the beginning.
This just adds to my allegiance to Apple!!!

Hello i am new to mac os i have used windows all my life so im not quite use to mac os yet so iv tried to set up  the printer to work from my macbook pro but i cant get it to work. the printer is on a homenetwork connected to a windows computer which it is sharing the printer on the network i have other computers that can access the printer but they are all windows pc's. my printer came with driver software for macintosh and i have installed it but still i can not selet the driver software and still does not work
    can someone help
    thank you

When you turn on printer sharing your mac becomes a print server and will advertise the printer using the bonjour protocol.
So on your pc download and install Bonjour For Windows
    Scanning is not supported however.
