Trouble with IE 7 CSS
I don't know what is happening, but for some reason IE 7
seems to be the only browser with this issue. If you view this
page:
http://www.parkwaygaming.com/index2.php
you will notice that the spry menu works, but the background
feature is not loading and it's just white. At first I thought it
might have been the z-index, so I messed with that to no avail.
Then I checked my paths to be sure, but then I asked myself, why
would Firefox, Safari and Camino all load the page fine and IE 7
not. The version I am using of IE 7 is 7.0.6000.16473 which is the
latest build on Windows Vista (x64 edition, although both the
32-bit and 64-bit versions of the browser render with the same
issue).
Does anyone know a workaround for this? Or is there something
new with the CSS that IE7 needs in order to show this menu
background properly?
In response to Al, there was a link in the first post in this
topic. I am sorry you did not see that.
To 818g, I have fixed the problem as of last night which is
why you can see it now. So that other users hopefully do not
experience the problem I will post the code that needs to be fixed.
In the CSS file there is a section at the very bottom that look
like this:
@media screen, projection
ul.MenuBarHorizontal li.MenuBarItemIE
display: inline;
f\loat: left;
background: #FFF;
As it turns out, IE 7 is reading this code since it is the
last instruction being sent to the browser, thus overriding the
original setting. As you will notice this code was originally
designed as an IE "hack" to make the menu appear the same in both
browsers. However, IE 7 does not seem to need this extra help, but
because it reads both sets of CSS it choses to apply the latter. So
what happens is that the SpryMenu appears to be White instead of
the color or background-image that could be first applied to the
section in the CSS document. By changing that variable at the
bottom to transparent, it makes this added layer clear so that you
can see the original layer.
I hope Adobe realizes this and changes their code for the
SpryMenus accordingly so that other users don't have this same
problem later down the road.

Hi all
I'm just a beginner so if the below question seems easy, apologies but i'm struggling with it!
I have a #footer which is 908px wide x 100px high, im trying to put 20px of white space above the footer in between the main image.
So i have the following BUT it is showing the padding as the background colour instead of white! How can i fix this.
#footer {
width: 968px;
background-color: #BC1745;
height: 100px;
padding-top: 20px;
Any help much appreciated.
Many thanks
RichApologies Ken, i'm new to this. See below if this helps.

Hello,
I am still having trouble with a web page that I was asked to
redesign. I decided to implement CSS into the page to change the
appearance and navigation, however, the javascript (inherited) that
was used on the page is having problems. I don't not know
javascript, therefore I really can't address that issure right now.
The page is centered in all of the browsers, along with the
header and the container for the tab menu. The issue is the other
containers that have side navigation or the content within the tab
menu container.
My concern is that the page is viewing correctly in IE6 and
Opera but not in Netscape and Firefox. When I preview the page in
the browsers, I get an error message in the status bar "done but
errors on page" (still views correctly in IE & Opera).
Hopefully, this all makes sense and everyone is not off
enjoying pre-4th July celebrations to respond. -Thanks!

Hey guys, I am having trouble with some code. I have nested divs inside of a container dive for the body copy, but I am having trouble with the background of the container div going behind the nested divs. I only have this issue with the background when I go to float the nested divs.
Below is a copy of my html and a copy of my linked css style sheet.

Trouble with "body" images lining up at the top
Hi, I am having troubles with the #body style in my web page. I have inserted a table into the #body area and the the body editable region will not line up on the top with the sideBar editable region when I add text and apply my css to it. Can you look at the code and let me know what I am doing wrong? Thanks!

</html>You have your image in the 'body editable region' wrapped in <p></p> tags (paragraph tags). <p> tags have padding and margin set on them by default.
<p><img src="/images/aboutus2.jpg" width="675" height="300" /></p>
You can either just remove the <p></p> tags or you can zero out the padding and margin:
p {
padding: 0;
margin: 0;
Unfortuanately the above will target every paragraph on your page which might not be desirable so I would just remove the <p> tags as it is not necessary to wrap an image in them.
If you do want to keep the <p> tags then use some inline css to specifically remove the padding and margin on that particular one:
<p style="padding: 0; margin: 0;"><img src="/images/aboutus2.jpg" width="675" height="300" /></p> -
I am really in trouble with AP Div-How do I fix it on the web?
Hi,
I am really in trouble with my website. I have added some pictures and text on top of Fireworks Image and have published it on the website.
But the concern is, when I zoom in & zoom out, I can see the previous text on the screen and also the picture and texts I have added using Ap Div tag are scattered moving all to the left when I zoom out. Can someone help me how to fix this in one particular place so that it doesn't move when I zoom in or zoom out!!! I am using Adobe Dreamweaver CS3, if this will help.
Appreciate your sincere help on this.
Thanks in advance.Frankly, there's a lot that is wrong with that page:
1. Most of your content is in the images - this means that you will get very poor search engine ranking
2. Your extensive use of absolute positioning for layout - this means that when you enlarge the text size in the browser, you will have overflow problems on the page (for example, the terrible problems at the bottom of the page)
3. You have used tables for layout - this is because of your use of Fireworks to create the HTML
Each of these problems is solvable but none of them are solvable easily without a redesign of the page. A web page should be built from the top down, stacking content containers (i.e., <div>, <section>, <article>, <aside>, etc.) vertically or floating them horizontally or both. These containers would be loaded with the text content of the page, and images would be used only for cosmetic appearance. Using CSS to style/locate the content will allow you to completely move away from tables for layout. Most typical pages can be created without the use of absolute positioning which should be used only for special purposes, not for layout of the page elements. -
Having trouble with dreamweaver cs 6 spry tabbed panels, all content in each tab showes through like it was all created on one page, plus mouse over doesnt work on them.
This started all of a sudden.
The entire website is a series of spry tabbed panels.
http://pacificlaser.com/const.html
if you click on General construction tab things work ok...
if you click on Machine control tab, mouse over doesnt work and all page content of each tab show through.
ive been looking for the answer for 4 months with no success.
Hope a fellow dreamwever-person can help
Thanks RickYou called it: your links to the SpryAssets are linking to your hard drive, not to the files within the folder on the server.
Correct these links:
<script src="file:///C:/Users/work/Desktop/Sites/SpryAssets/SpryTabbedPanels.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<link href="file:///C:/Users/work/Desktop/Sites/SpryAssets/SpryTabbedPanels.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
And you should be good to go.
Beth
ps. If you run into more difficulties with the Spry Widgets, take your questions to the Dreamweaver Spry Forum http://forums.adobe.com/community/labs/spry, where they will get quicker attention.

I simply cannot explain why some people report to see the

To be honest with Firefox 2 the same happens here , it does
not open in full screen.
I´ve pasted bellow the html source code employed ; The

Photo Gallery combined with three column CSS
Hi, I am trying to implement your photo gallery into our
school site and I am having trouble with the layout. I am using a
three-column layout created with CSS and JS, and then placing the
photo gallery inside of this. What happens is when you pull up the
page the three column layout does not position everything correctly
until you resize the browser window (ever so slightly). Help, have
been staring at CSS and JS code now for about a month and cannot
get it to behave, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Your Google ads are in an iframe. This rule will get you
started
iframe {
height: 2em !important;
position: absolute;
top: 650px;
You can leave the position static if you like, and it will
move up and
down with your images - I found that a bit distracting,
though. If you
leave it static, use a top-margin to establish space between
your image
and the ads.
The !important notation is required for the height,
indicating either a
conflict somewhere in your markup or CSS, or poor Google code
(not
uncommon).

Newbie having trouble with opt/rep regions
Hi everyone. I'm migrating my site from simple, square html
to nice, elegant css. I've done most of the work, but I'm having
some trouble with templates. Here's an example of how a page
created with a template will (hopefully) look:
http://www.technfun.com/temp/example.html
I've succeeded in making the article region (inside the white
frame) editable, but I can't figure out how to handle the side bar
menu. It's supposed to contain links to the chapters and
subchapters of the main article, so that clicking there will bring
you to the right place in the page (a simple # link, in other
words). However, the article writer (me) needs to be able to add as
many "SidebarLarge" entries as necessary. Under each of those there
may or may not be the need to add "SidebarSmall" entries for
subchapters.
I read the help file and figured out I need to do something
with the optional and repeating region settings, but whenever I try
I only ever manage to make a mess of the sidebar. Anyone can tell
me how exactly I'm supposed to do this?
Thanks :)Why not just make the whole sidebar an editable region
instead? Then you
can add as much stuff as you see fit.

# Question
I have so much trouble with the plug in part of the program I want to disable this in Mozilla. I have to go to windows explorer to get around this plug in problem with MozillaDepending on the CSS, live view and design view can be totally different.
Its often best to type in your copy in the divs and then add the CSS to format it.
Post the css and the set of divs with some content in order to enable people to try work out what is wrong. -
Trouble with rollover image in div
Hello there,
I am having some trouble with the following.
I want to create a rollover image 90 pxl x 90 pxl and put it inside a div 90 pxl x 90 pxl.
The div is inside other divs and makes up a kind of a table. I checked that all the div and image sizes are the same but when I place the cursor inside the div and select 'insert rollover image', my images are all squashed up and don't appear normal size. Very odd.
Here is some of my code:
CSS of div (I want to put my image inside smallBox01a)
#Header #rightColumn #smallBox01 {
height: 90px;
width: 270px;
#Header #rightColumn #smallBox01 #smallBox01a {
float: left;
height: 90px;
width: 90px;
HTML
<div id="smallBox01a"><a href="tobi.html" onmouseout="MM_swapImgRestore()" onmouseover="MM_swapImage('tobi','','Images/TobiOver.jpg',1)"><img src="Images/TobiOff.jpg" alt="Tobi" name="tobi" width="90" height="90" border="0" id="tobi" /></a></div>
Poor old Tobi cat's face is all squashed up. Any idea what is going wrong? I don't have any padding within the div either.
Thanks!
PS I also should add that when I tried to simply add in one of the Tobi images instead of the rollover image, it appeared perfectly fine within the div. It is only the rollover that is getting vertically squashed up.So, I've been playing around with your page in dreamweaver and I put a <div> container around your entire web page and then set the width to 1200px. That contained all the contents so that when you re-size the web page the contents don't colapse.
Not sure if that's what Murray or Nancy mean and am curious if their is a better way.
That would work although 1200px is too wide. Something along the lines of 1000px would be better, since you want the page to display in a maximized browser viewport on a 1024 screen without dropping horizontal scrollbars. I still use 960px as a maximum width....
Re the centering of the page: Good question I would like to know how to do it "properly"
In the CSS body rule I put: margin-left: 20%;
margin-right: 20%;
Again, I'm not sure if that's the correct way to center the page, and would like to know a better way.
It's not the best way to do this, which would be to use a fixed width container (as you have done) and just assign it left/right margin settings of 'auto', e.g.,
#container { width:960px; margin:0 auto; }
You can center *any* block element within its container with this method. -
Trouble with spacing of divs vertically
Hi all,
I am having trouble with CSS and vertically stacking my divs, In the following code there are a number of identical divs and I want them to stack one upon the other like in a list. At the moment I need to hit returns after each div to get below the one above and it puts way too much room in between each div doing this. I am at a loss how to do set the amount of spcae between them and also to make one go directly below the other.
Any and all help greatly appreciated
Thanks Rick

As it says above, i have been having a lot f trouble with my ipod classic and the latest itunes update, i was unable to sync songs or anything to it and have tried every conceivable 'fix' i could find. i have run an itunes diagnostic and the results are posted below. a major problem is that when i try and view my ipod through my computer it displays nothing at all on the ipod, no files or anything, this may be the problem but i have no idea how it has happened or how i could resolve it.
This ipod holds huge sentimental value and i am loathe to buy a new one! If anybody can help it is greatly appreciated, than kyou in advanced.

Searching on the web, most results I found lead to this page, where it is said that the problem is due to badly tuned overcurrent protection, and advocated that unplugging and switching off the computer for a little while gets things back into normal. This does not really work for me; the problem seems to occur more randomly, unfortunately with high probability (my camera is available after less than one boot out of ten).
I tried to ensure that the ehci-hcd module is loaded at boot with the ignore-oc option (with a file in /etc/module-load.d/), to no avail.
I also wrote a script which alternatively removes and reloads the ehci-pci driver until my device is found in lsusb. It is sometimes helpful, but usually not. And even when my device is found that way, it can only be used for a while before disappearing again.
Anyway, such a hack is unacceptable... So, my questions are:
is it indeed related to overcurrent protection ?
is there anything else I can try ?
should I file somewhere an other of the numerous bug reports about "unable to enumerate USB device" already existing ?
If of any importance, I am running linux 3.15.7, because at the time I installed my system, I couldn't get the hybrid graphic card Intel/AMD working under 3.16.
