Trouble with imessage

My iMessage works correctly with all of my contacts (that have an iphone/imessage) except for one. The one that it doesn't work for does definitely have an iphone and has imessage set up. It was working before but now it isn't. Why does it only not work for that one contact?

did that person recently update their phone? did they check their settings? can they receive imessages from other phones?

    iMessage and FaceTime went down yesterday for some people. Mine is still down. My iMessage is saying the same thing about being activated. Sounds like you are still down too. Ignore the status page that says everything is fine - it lies.

    My wife and I share apple id but have our own phones, and now having trouble with imessage. Sharing calenders, apps, music, contacts, etc...all great. But when we imessage each other. Our phones get confused and either not deliver message, or send it to and from itself.

    Go to Settings > Facetime and you will see "You can be reached for video calls at:"
    This should list your phone number (iPhone) and your email address (probably the gmail one).
    And then an option for "Add another email..."
    Choose that and enter your @me.com account and it'll send a verification email.
    Same for iMessage: Settings > Messages > "Receive at" > Add Another Email
    So you can be called by facetime and use iMessage through multiple email accounts yes.

    First, make sure that all your devices are using the same Apple ID in iMessages including your Mac.  Second, your messages that you've already started on your devices will not show up on your Mac - only ones that you start from now on will show up.  Third, if you're still not syncing accross all devices, make sure you read the directions on the first page of this thread.  It should work after performing those steps.  Good luck!

    I am having trouble with iMessage.  When it is on, I won't get messages to my iPhone, they go to my iPad.  This is not cool since my iPad doesn't always travel with me.  Even if I message is not on the phone but is on the iPad.

  • Having trouble with IMessage

    Having trouble with my imessage. In "send and recieve" it says No Address, my number is greyed out so i cant select it. I have tried resetting my settings, turning my imessage and phone on and off, clicked through and altered settings, recharged credit.. everything! Still no progress, someone PLEASE help!

    There are a lot of posts in the forums today with people having similar problems.   There was also a published outage yesterday, so it's possible there are still some issues that may be impacting you both.
    I would just wait it out - I'm sure it will be sorted out soon.

  • Troubles with iMessage

    Hello, I suddenly got a problem with iMessage.
    I have been using it for three months without any problem but, since yesterday, it stopped working with one of my contacts only.
    It is still regularly working with all the other contacts I have.
    Both of us are using the same wi-fi network and both of us have working access to the internet (i.e. other messaging applications are still working between our phones).
    I have already tried rebooting both the phones and changing the DNS to 8.8.8.8, as suggested in some users forum.
    Could you kindly give me support in fixing this issue?

    You could check to make sure your phone number is registered with Apple but that would only effect iMessage if you changed your number resently. It can't hurt to check. From 'Manage your account' you can verify that all your info. Is correct.

    My family and I share the same apple ID. I own an iPhone and a Mac. I want to set up my mac with iMessage but my phone number is not listed on the list that I can use. I really want to use iMessage on my Mac for convenience. Please help.

  • Trouble with iMessage from another country

    Hello, my girlfriend is in Ireland and is trying to iMessage and also later face time with me. She said the iMessages are not going through but that the Facebook messenger stuff is going through. She has all the roaming data and stuff off but not airplane mode of course.  Is there a reason iMessage would not be working?

    Her phone keeps trying to send it as a text instead if an iMessage.

  • I'm having trouble with imessage since I updated the software

    My husband is receiving all of my imessages even though our phones are set to send/receive from the individual phone numbers. Does anyone else have this problem or know of a solution? He has the 4 and I have the 4S.

    This can happen when you both use the same Apple ID for iMessage.  To fix this you have two choices:
    On one of the phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a different ID.  Note: you can still share the same ID for purchasing in Settings>iTunes & App Stores; or
    On both phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and uncheck the email address(es) shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at".  Also uncheck anyone else's phone number, if present.

    People on my contact list can send me imessage, but i can't reply as imessage. I see bubble when they write, but when i write it is always green send button and i only can send them like text message. I try to restart iPhone, onsert again my simcard, activate again imessage but problem is the same.
    It is so frustrating

    According to the article below, if the issue is only present with a a specific conatact, you may need to delete that messaging thread and create a new message. If the issues persist, take a look at the article for additional troubleshooting steps.
