Trouble with Importing from Canon 6d

Hi,
When I try to import from my Canon 6D (RAW), it shows all the previews, but will only successfully import a handful of the photos. I get a dialog box saying that the files cannot be read. If I turn off the camera, then try again, it imports just a few more. Finally, after 3 or 4 attempts, all the photos are imported. Any suggestions? Thank you!
(I'm on a Mac, OS 10.7.5, LR5. Also, I have checked the permissions for the destination folder, and it is allowed for both read/write.)

Something is interfering with the transfer of images to your computer that works for most other people.  It could be anything from and in between the camera and the computer hardware.
These alternatives for how to get the images to your computer and into LR are ways to troubleshoot where the issue is, and ways to get things going until you do figure out what the problem is.
Another suggestion would be to clear your card of images after things have been imported.  It sounds like LR is having to look through a lot of extra images that are already duplicates and with your iffy transfer setup, not a lot of actual images make it through each time before the transfer fails.
If things worked ok with LR3 and now aren’t working with LR5, then what has changed is Adobe uses different OS-level functions to transfer images and some of those newer functions may be susceptible to different things.

  • Migration to Photos: Trouble with import from iPhoto Library

I have just upgraded to OS X Yosemite (10.10.3). When I first opened Photos, it wanted to convert my iPhoto Library to Photos. After some hours of working with the 165.2 GB iPhoto Library, it told me that I don't have enough disk space. I believed that if I free my MacBook Pro from those 165.2 GB, I might solve the problem. So yesterday, I stored it on an external USB drive (a solid state drive of OWC with USB 3.0 connection to my MacBook), deleted the iPhoto Library on my harddisk, and opened Photos. In Photos, I chose Menu > File >Import , and navigated to the external drive. However, clicking the file icon and name does not release into any import. What shall I do to import data from my iPhotos Libray?
Suggestions will be most appreciated and rewarded with a virtual box of Mozart Kugeln.

You don't import it, you simply open it:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch Photos. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'

  • Trouble importing from Canon Elura 80

I´ve been having trouble when importing from my camcorder, a canon elura 80, iMovie recognizes it and controls it with no problem, but it doesn´t cut the clips automatically. At first, I didn´t care, I´m used to trimming video, and I can even say that I enjoy it. The problem with this comes when I want to apply themes to the movie: If I place the manually trimmed clip in the drop zone, it doesn´t take the trimming into account, it just plays the beggining of the untrimmed clip, so I end up with the same clip repeated over and over.
    What I´ve done:
    - I checked the importing preferences, and the "start a new clip at each scene break" is checked.
    - I trimmed using "split video clip at Playhead"
    - I also tried "crop" for editing
It´s frustrating not being able to use one of the coolest feature of this program, please help!!! thanks in advance

    Hello Samantha3232,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
Some video clips may not import into iMovie when using the Camera Import window
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4485
From the File menu, choose Import > Movies.
In the dialog that appears, select your camera from the sidebar.
Locate and select the video clips on your camera that you would like to import.
    Click the Import button.
    Best of luck,

  • Importing From Canon Vixia HF M30 to Final Cut Pro

Hey there, I have been trying to import to final cut with some success. Importing From Canon Vixia HF M30 from my sd card.
    I used the easy setup.
    FORMAT HD
USE HDV APPLE INTERMEDIATE CODEC 1080I60
I go to log and transfer select the clips I need and click add to que.
So perfect there are my clips in my bin, I bring them to my timeline and a green line appears above my video, uugggggh. I know this is a rendering issue but why.
Please help does anyone know why this is happening.
This is very frustrating, I have been trying to read the other discussions I didn't see anything on it let alone the info on the net, trying different things just not working for me.
    Thanks Gang

Your camera records AVCHD. Convert to prores 422 or prores 422(LT) on log and transfer and make sure your sequence matchs your footage.

  • Why won't Aperture 2 support RAW files imported from Canon 60D when it does from my Olympus DSLR?

Why won't Aperture 2 support RAW files imported from Canon 60D when it does from my Olympus DSLR?

I'm afriad the fact that your Olympus dSLR is supported is no relevance.
The Raw from every model of camera is different. Note: that's every model not every brand. So, the NEF produced by a Nikon D40 is not the same as the NEF produced by a D60, the CR2 produced by a Canon 350 is not the same as the CR2 produced by a Canon 400.
Support for individual camera models has to be added one by one, and Apple will update the OS to work with the most recent version of the software. That's an incentive for you to keep up-to-date. So, for support for your 60D you'll need 10.6.5 plus Aperture 3 and/or iPhoto 11.

  • When importing from Canon XL2, audio is delayed by 5 seconds

When I import from Canon XL2, the audio track is there, but it is off by a few seconds. At first it was only about 1 or 2 seconds, but when I re-imported it got worse. It's fine when I import through iMovie, but I lose my multiple audio tracks.
I know I can re align on the timeline, but that's not the point!
    Thanks for help

You may have nearly filled up your hard disc.
1 hour of DV is about 13GB. Trying to capture a 2nd hour would take you up to about 26GB of space used up on your hard disc.
It's better to capture to an internal disc, or to a FireWire-connected external disc, as USB - even USB 2.0 - can't necessarily keep up with the constantly sustained data throughput speeds which DV needs.
A Mac needs about 10% of your total hard disc space to be empty, to allow for its internal 'housekeeping', log files, virtual memory files, etc. So if you have an 80GB internal disc, with, say, 13GB of operating system & programs, plus, say, 20GB of pictures, plus, say, 13GB of documents, and you add 13GB (1 hour's worth) of video, that's 59GB, and you'll need about 8GB of free space, that's 67GB accounted for, leaving about 13GB empty for your 2nd hour.
But that spare 13GB of spare space may be scattered around the disc, and not all in one sequential region, which may be why you're getting stuttering.
Not only that, but there may be 'dropouts' on the tape (brief signal disappearance) which may not show on the camcorder (..because many camcorders substitute a previous frame of video for any damaged frame..) but may only show up when you try importing. This may happen if, for instance, you recorded at a slower than normal speed, e.g; LP speed instead of Standard Play speed.
So check, first, how much empty space you have on your internal disc, and see if your external disc can be attached by FireWire, instead of the - what's becoming almost ubiquitous - USB connection.

Have you tried to import .mts files? For me they just show up in the import window like any other file. It may depend on the specific of the file. .mts doesn't tell you much.

  • Issues with importing from excel

I have been running into a several issues with importing from Excel.
    First my configuration
I am running SQL Developer ver 1.5.5 Build MAIN-5969
I am on a Windows XP Professional Version 2002 with Service Pack 3
I am importing into an Oracle 10g database.
    1. SQL Developer doesn't work on Excel 2007, I have to save all my files into Excel 97-2003 format before I can use them.
    2. If I run into an error loading and stop the process, SQL Developer doesn't release the Excel file and I get a sharing violation if I try to save the spreadsheet without closing SQL Developer.
    3. I have found that I have to set print area to the area I want to work with, otherwise the import wizard tries to keep adding rows.
    4. When using the Import wizard, it keeps adding commas on fields with numerics unless I specify the column in excel as text. Currently the column is formatted as General in the spreadsheet or I can change the wizard format to say the column is an integer, but it actually is just a code field with numeric characters so it may have leading zeroes that I need to keep.
    This might be related,
I have a column in excel defined as text but only contains numerics. It is of length 4, but the wizard sets a precision of 5 with a datatype of VARCHAR2. If I try to change it to 4, I get an error saying the field is not large enough. Yet, when I do a LEN on the column, it only gives me a 4. I have other fields in the same sheet that a 3 position numeric and 2 position numeric and those are fine. I am thinking this is related to the comma being inserted in a numeric field for anything greater than 3 positions.
    5. Importing excel dates to oracle dates doesn't work. I have to convert the excel date column to text then import as a VARCHAR, then convert to Date once in the database.
    6. The default of nullible is not set on any columns and I have to set them before the import. (I would prefer it set to nullible and I have to uncheck the box to make it not nullible. I would prefer to import all of the data and then deal with the nulls after they have been pulled in)
    7. When I select header columns included it uses that as the column names. Is it possible to do the name length check then? It has bit me a few times where I try to import and forget to check the name length and then I get an error when I start running the import.
    8. If one of the columns to import has all nulls, then the precision comes out to 0 and if it isn't changed an error occurs on import. Could this situation default to a precision of 1?
    9. It would be nice if there was a completion message displayed and a cancel option while running.

    On point 3.
I have a column in excel that consists of numbers. 4 digit numeric codes. Ex, 1111, 2345, etc
The column's format is general. It displays as just 4 numbers.
When I start the wizard initially, the column appears with data as 1,111, 2,345, etc, on the Data Preview screen.
It determines the precision to be 5 on the column definition screen.
If I change the precision to 4 then continue, that field will error out when I verify with "not big enough to hold the data in source columns"
If, I change the excel column to a TEXT column.
Excel still displays as 1111, 2345, etc
The wizard then displays the same data 1111, 2345 on the Data Previeiw screen
Yet, when I get to the column definition screen it still sizes it as a 5
If I change it to a 4, I get the same error when verifying.
If I leave them alone as 5, then it processes just fine.

  • Having trouble with imports never finishing

I am having trouble with imports that never finished. It is almost like the pictures are stuck on one image. the only way to get out of Iphoto is to force quit. The next time I open, there are a number of images that still need to be imported, but the import never finishes and seems to stop at the same image. When I go to close down I get the message that Photos are being imported to the library.
    Anyone have any suggestions.
    Thanks

    Photo:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Check out your iPhoto library and make sure all photos are viewable and there. Force quitting when iPhoto is working can corrupt the database file, Library6.iPhoto. Make a backup copy of it and save in another folder.
First make a backup copy of your iPhoto Library folder. Now download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, substituting your account name for mine. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field. Open iPhoto and see if it will work OK.
If not, launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select all options.
Lastly use iPhoto Library Manager to rebuild the library. Here's how:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: It can take some time to create the new library if you have a lot of photos. One user reported that with a library of about 5,000 images it took about 12 hours so plan ahead.

  • Running LR 5.6 on OSX 10.9.4.  Can't import from Canon 7D. Any ideas?

Running LR 5.6 on OSX 10.9.4.  Can't import from Canon 7D. Any ideas?

For future reference, if there is an error message, you should probably quote it in your original message on the subject.
"Could not be read" indicates that you do not have WRITE permission to the destination directory when you try to import, so change your permissions.
"not recognized" might indicate the camera card itself is corrupted or the card reader is failing ... or the problem might go away if you change your permissions.

You can't do it in one step. Add to iTunes first, Once the tracks are in iTunes you may convert to a different format.

  • IPhoto '11 not responding when importing from Canon S90 with videos

    Hi,
I have a recurring problem attempting to import photos/videos with iPhoto '11.  If the memory card only has images, they import properly when using my card reader, but if there are also videos taken with my Canon S90, then the import hangs. Even if I force quit, iPhoto will continue to hang until the computer is rebooted. I also use a Nikon D200 and have never had any issues importing, though that camera does not take video.
Oddly, if I first copy my memory card to my desktop and then import from there (rather than using the card reader) then it will import.
    Any suggestions?

How big are the files? Iphoto has alwys baulked at importing large videos from the Card directly.

  • Import from Canon Legria HR200 to iMovie11

When I connect camcorder CANON Legria HF200 through USB in PC connect mode, it is not possible to use "Import from camera" to import video files from camcorder Canon Legria HF200 iMovie 11 because only Insight camera appears. Canon Legria HF200 is recognized as USB external device. I use 32GB SDHC card FAT32 format. The same result is when I put the card in SD reader, or when I copy the folder to HDD. What am I doing wrong?

Hook up the usb cable to the camera with the camera in "play" mode. Then plug the other end of the usb into your computer. The screen on your camera should then ask to what do you want connect the camera. Choose "computer/printer." Then boot iMovie and press import. Most likely if iMovie then asks you which clips you wish to import, everything should work.
However, you are correct - the camera is not listed as a supported camera.

  • Aperture doesn't show video imported from Canon 5D Mk 3

When I'm importing video to Aperture 3 from Canon 5D Mk 3, the files show up in Aperture with black screen. Sound is OK and the duration is unchanged but there's no image. In Finder, Quicktime and for example After Effects the video shows up normally so I can convert it to other formats, but that way it's more complicated than it should be.
Also, when using Compressor to convert the files the end result is the same. Haven't tried to import the videos to Final Cut Pro X yet... Has this happened to anyone else and what can I do to fix this? I tried to import a file to my girlfriend's Aperture 3 and it worked normally there.

Thanks, but can you elaborate as I'm new to both video and FCE. What are the item property of the clips versus in the sequence, can you advise me what settings to use, how can I find these properties? any info will help
    Cheers

  • Issues importing from Canon Rebel T3i after upgrading to Mavericks and Lightroom 5

    Hi there,
I just upgraded to Mavericks and Lightroom 5 on a 2008 Macbook Pro.
LR5 is working fine on my photos that have already been imported.  However, when I plug in my camera to import new files (RAW and JPEG), the camera does not even mount - aka. does not show up as a possible source at all.  I have tried turning off and on, restarting, and using the old LR4 to see if that would solve the problem, but it did not.  I also tried importing from the EOS Utility, but that does not recognize the camera as a possible source either.  Please HELP!
