Trouble with installing on mac ppc 10.4.11

I can't install digital editions on my mac ppc running 10.4.11 it says when i try to install "error communicating with adobe id server. please try again later and it says E_AUTH_BAD_DEVICE_KEY. I keep trying, same result. Chatted with adobe, they couldn't help. any ideas. it worked before my puter crashed last time. Any answers????

1 beep = no RAM installed
2 beeps = incompatible RAM types
3 beeps = no good banks
4 beeps = no good boot images in the boot ROM (and/or bad sys config block)
5 beeps = processor is not usable
In addition to the beeps, on some computers the power LED will flash a corresponding number of times plus one. The LED will repeat the sequence after approximately a 5-second pause. The tones are only played once.
Note: In this case, a flash is considered to be 1/4 second or 250 ms or greater in length.

Trouble with installing Mini SAP 7.0 on a USB Harddisk

The Installing Wizard is abort the Install by 17 %. I have the install wizard, about the night runnig, but nothing. 17 % is end.

Trouble with install discs and downloading CS5 for Mac

I just got a new hard drive on my iMac when I tried to reinstall my CS5 disks they wouldn't mount repeatedly. So, I went to download them but freaking internet in Australia is so slow I can't successfully download it-it would take days and it timed out every time about halfway through-tried 4 times. Is there something I should try? Help!

Spender Dunbar you can download the installation files onto a USB drive on a computer which does have access to high speed Internet. Perhaps at a public library or using a laptop at a local coffee shop?

Troubles with installing quicktime : macbook being h e ll !

first, i would like to apologize for my bad english, i'm french and i don't speak very well english.
Il will try to explain my trouble :
I'm the owner of a macbook ( MAC OS 10.6 ) for more than four years.
I try to upgrade Quicktime Player, because when i tried to watch movies with it, i got a error message : " You have to upgrade Quick Time, etc " and i folow the link :http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/ and i downloaded it and installed on my computer. It asked me to reboot. I did it. And H e ll was coming on my poor Macbook :
- about five minutes to boot,
- Icons on the desk don't appear
- impossible to launch any process like i-tunes, firefox, teamspeack...
- options of the high menu are disables ( finder, time, wi-fi, bluetooth)
- i can't shut off the macbook normally. I have to force it.
I take a (bad) picture :
I tried to press APPLE-S at the start and used the fsck -fy function, i get :
FILE SYSTEM WAS MODIFIED
After three others trys, i get :
" The volume Macintosh HD appears to be OK. "
I type : " reboot " but it's the same like usual = doesn't work.
I tried to press APPLE shift at the start, nothing changes.
My DVD-reader is broken, i can't ' format ' or reaload Mac OS 10.6, so i'm asking for a solution.

Trouble with CS2 on Mac G5 with new user accounts - activation issues?

My system is a Mac G5 Quad running OS 10.5.8, and I have the CS2 premium suite. When I bought the machine I did everything under one user account. Several months ago the account started giving me a few problems, and my circumstances changed, so it made sense to create new, separate user accounts on my Mac for work and personal use.
Recently I offered to help a friend out with some design work and tried to start InDesign CS2 from my new business account. I was immediately presented with a demand for a serial number. I looked it up and entered it. An error popped up that said
"Invalid Serial Number
The serial number you provided is not valid.
Please check your serial number and re-enter it."
I tried a couple more times, making sure I had it right. No success.
I gave up and launched my original user account, launched InDesign and started the project. I set the document up and tried to save it. InDesign displayed an error stating "Cannot save "Untitled-1" under a new name. The file "DBTmp[bunch of numbers]" is damaged (error code:0" Each time I relaunched and tried again the temp filename was different.
So now I suddenly am without one of my primary tools and have no idea how to get it back. I am guessing this is a problem with the activation mechanism, but can't find many resources on this topic. It would appear that my attempt to launch InDesign from my new account triggered a piracy protection code or something.
I am typing this while waiting on hold for Adobe support. 25 minutes and counting...

I already have Acrobat 8.2.4, so I didn't start installing 8.2.2. However, I started working through solution 2 and discovered my new business user account was denied access to /Library/ApplicationSupport/Adobe/TypeSpt/Unicode/Mappings/. I changed the permissions on that directory to give my account read access, and InDesign fired up like normal. I didn't even need to replace the files.

It's interesting to learn CS2 is not supported in my OS version. It works fine (until this).

Trouble with install disks - is it OK to make a copy of them?

Finally, I am trying to make a copy of the install disks that came with my MBP. This was recommended in several threads for preserving the original and having backups just in case.
I used Disk Utility to make a disk image - choosing DVD/CD master, no encryption - as I was instructed on another thread. I made the disk images fine of the 2 disks - they are now saved as disk images in the .cdr format. While I was at it, I made a disk image of the TechTool Deluxe CD that came with my AppleCare.
When I inserted a CD (and then I tried a DVD) into the slot to Burn the disk image of the first (and then the second) install disk, I got the message that there is not enough room on the disk I am trying to use (for either disk). I had no trouble burning a disk of the TechTool Deluxe - I did that on a CD.
When I go to Get Info for the disk image for the 2 install disks, it looks like each is no larger than 5 plus GB, which seems strange.
What am I doing wrong?

When you make images of the discs, it is compressed. So when you get info of the image, that is smaller than the actual disc size. You said disc two was 3.97gb but really uncompressed it is likely over 6GB. For both install discs one and two, you need dual-layer DVDs to burn.

I wondered about the compressed issue - but since I chose CD/DVD master, (from Disk Utility Help: "If you want to use the disk image with a third-party application, choose CD/DVD master. The disk image contains a copy of all sectors of the disk, whether they're used or not, and copies them to other CDs or DVDs bit for bit") with no encryption I assumed that the size of the disk image was identical to the original.
What you say tells me I'm wrong - that even with DVD master bit for bit, the image is compressed. Right?
I'll get back to you when I have solved this...

Trouble With installing Snow Leopard on my 4 year old Macbook

I'm trying to install Snow Leopard to my 4 year old Macbook stuck on 10.5.8, but it keeps saying "The application 'Install Mac OS X' cannot be used from this volume." I've tried almost everything to solve this, but I can't find anything at really helps my situation. I've looked on some of these discussions, and they haven't really helped much. My Macbook has a: 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, and is stuck on OS X 10.5.8. Please give me your input and help

Are you using a Retail version of Snow Leopard that looks like this?
Or gray discs that look like this?
The gray discs are machine specific and will only work with the MacBooks that they were shipped with.

So sick of having trouble with Java and Mac!

I bought myself a brand new MacBook Pro OS X 10.5.8 for around a year ago. Since the first month I've had so many problems with my Java. It's eighter not working, or its is so slow that you can't work with it, at all.
Yesterday I was playing a game, were you're in need of Java. It worked perfectly. Then suddenly, it stopped again. And I tought, since I had not used it for a while, I just had to update it. So I clicked at the "software update" and updated everything. I don't think Java was at the list. Still wasn't working. So I went to Apple.com and searched for the "Mac OS X 10.5 update 10" and found it. I downloaded it, and installed it about five times or something, still not working. I've tried everything that came to my mind to try fixing it, but nothing works. What can I do? I'm so sick of having this problem every time I'm in use of the mac. Realy start to regreat the expensive bought of this mac.
Please, someone help me. I hate the tought of wasting 16 000,- Nok at this pc, when it's not working the way I'm using it..

Very Important, how much Free Space is on your Hard Drive first of all? Click on the Macintosh HD on the Desktop, then do a Get Info on it.
Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.

Troubles with installing/upgrading OS 9.1 to 9.2 on second drive

Hi - I have an older G4 450mhz sawtooth unit. It came with
Panther on the main drive. I upgraded to Tiger, added a
new DVD superdrive, Scsi card, ATI Radeon 8500 vid card
and just put in a second HD. I decided to install OS 9.1
on the 2nd drive so I dual boot and run my old programs and
or use Classic thru Tiger. I have tried updated OS 9.1 to
9.2 and succeeded with the install but now it locks up at
the Apple setup assistant. I can move the cursor but can't
click or change anything. When I turn off the extensions
and restart it will let me change extensions, etc but I can't do anything really, no dvd drive but it lets me use
the mouse and keyboard. I added new keyboard/ mouse that
came from a G5. Could it be these peripherals? Any ideas

Hi, Jon -
First, boot with Extensions Off (with Shift held down).
Then look in the Extensions folder for a file named PrefRestoreInit - if you find it, throw it away.
Also, look in the Startup Items folder (in System Folder) for an alias named Mac OS Setup Assistant. If you find that, then throw it away.
Now try a normal restart into OS 9.2.1.
I have tried updated OS 9.1 to 9.2....
I assumed you mean update to OS 9.2.1 via download update, since there is no update to OS 9.2 that is applicable for your machine. Is this correct?
The distinctions between the three possible OS 9.2.x's are important.
OS 9.2 (technically, OS 9.2.0, I suppose, though it is not noted that way) is a model-specific version that came with the original G4 QuickSilver machines, and perhaps other models released about the same time.
OS 9.2.1 is available several ways - as a download update, for installation on top of OS 9.1; as a retail OS 9.2.1 Install CD (full-install, for any model supported for that version); and as a model-specific full-install version that came with some models.
OS 9.2.2 is available only two ways - as a download update, for installation on top of OS 9.2.1; and as a model-specific full-install version that came with some models.

[SOLVED] Trouble with Install that I've never seen before (Gnucash)

Hello all! I am rather new to Arch. I came over from Windows (disgruntled up to Win 7). When I first came over to Linux I did so via Ubuntu (12.04 and 13.10) and Mint (16). Seeing that Ubuntu would love to eventually sell us all out I decided to give Arch a try and LOVED IT! The install went smoothly and almost every program that I have needed has installed flawlessly..That is with the exception of Gnucash. I do a lot of freelance bookkeeping work and Gnucash is most definitely the best program I have found out there (even when I was using Windows). I have tried to install from BOTH the official repository and the AUR with no luck. I am using a 64 bit install of Arch on a Dell Inspiron 1440. All of my packages and repositories have been updated through pacman -Syu and -Syy. Below is the results message that I receive when trying to install from EITHER repository (AUR version is what I have posted). It shows that there appear to be two corrupt packages. If any of you can guide me in the right direction as to how to possibly rectify my trouble I would be most appreciative. (Also: if I am posting this in the wrong area please let me know where the better place would be.)

Trouble with install of Thunderbird

I downloaded mozilla Thunderbird;
clicked on the "dmg" (disk image compressed) file
which creates a "disk image icon";
clicked on the icon to install.
I got thunderbird to come up, but after rebooting, I had to "install" again.
So I read in "The Missing Manual for Leopard"book to drag the thunderbird icon into the applications folder; this will really "install" it. But after restarting, I get the same thing. Only now at least I don't get the license screen.
Here's what I get. Before shutting down, I have thunderbird running; I go to the Dock and select the icon to make it persist; and I "eject" the desktop thunderbird disk image icon (because the book said I don't need it).
When I restart, Thunderbird icon is correctly in my Dock and there is no disk image icon on the desktop. However, as soon as I click on the thunderbird icon, the disk image icon appears and a little disk image window appears along with thunderbird.
*How do I get rid of this?* I just want thunderbird - no disk image icons or windows etc.

Sorry. I'll try to be more careful. I was a little confused about where to post it. There were categories for apple specific software products, I kind of thought I'd see a category for "third party software". Or a few categories for third party software (mozilla products, etc).
Since, I am in the process of switching from PC to mac, that seemed to fit the description of the "Windows Compatibility" category ...

But now I know better.

Trouble with installing/uninstalling illustrator and cloud manager

I first was having trouble installing adobe illustrator CC trial. It kept having errors. I did what they suggested and now I cannot even install the creative manager. Now it will not even allow me to uninstall adobe illustrator (even though it never fully downloaded to begin with, it still shows up on control panel) I ran the adobe cloud cleaner multiple times, trying different settings and some of the times it says it had an error. Adobe illustrator doesn't even appear to exist on my computer other than being listed in control panel, yet I still can't get rid of it. I've restarted my computer. I've even tried downloading the trial from a different site and it would not work. Can anyone please help me?

Having trouble with installing updates

I am having trouble installing updates. I checked the windowsupdate.log file and I see:
