Trouble with JPG version of RAW in email, web

Hi,
Im new to this forum and relatively new to Aperture. Im hoping maybe someone can clue me in as to what is going on here:
I shoot in RAW (Nikon D80). I do all my editing in Aperture, and everything works and looks great. Now say I want to email a smaller JPG version. I do an export version, which I look at on my computer (Macbook Pro), and it looks fine. I email the JPG, and somewhere in the email process, something happens to my colors. The email is received on the other end and the colors have faded drastically. I also have had the same problem when uploading JPGs to a site to order prints from. This problem only occurs with RAW, and not if I shoot in JPG. I do have Aperture 2.1, and OSX 10.5.2. Thanks for any help/suggestions.

Hi Gregg,
You need to check what colour profile is being attached to the exported JPegs. It sounds like they are being exportd with Adobe RGB profile. That will look fine on your Mac as the Mac applications are colour profile aware; but because other browsers (on PCs for instance) are not colour profile aware, the JPegs will be displayed on the assumption that they are in sRGB profile. This will produce exactly the situation you describe - faded and desaturated colours. For any web work, you must export them with sRGB profile.

Why do I have trouble with attachments being stripped when sending email via Earthlink Webmail using Firefox?

I recently built a new computer running Win 8.1. However, I have had trouble sending and receiving attachments with Earthlink Webmail on Firefox. I sometimes cannot see attachments to emails I receive, although the size of the file indicates they are there. When I try to send an email with attachments, the browser contacts Earthlink, and then the message reappears, but the attachments have been stripped. If I hit Send again, the message goes, but without the attachments. If I re-attach the attachments and hit send, they are again stripped. I contacted Earthlink support, and they told me it is a problem with Firefox. I then tried IE and was able to send the attachments without a problem.
I would really appreciate any help as Firefox is my browser of choice.

1. Not sure how to send an email in a private browsing window... I use Earthlink Web Mail and I cannot find anything on that site about private browsing window.
2. Have not tried this yet, but will when I get a chance.
3. Not sure. My old computer ran XP. Never had the problem with it. Right now, it is not connected to the internet, so can't check it.
4. I neglected to mention... I did try IE and it worked fine.
I do have Norton 360 installed, but it was not a problem on the XP machine.

As far as the file type, I was trying to send pdf files. Have not tried other file types.
Earthlink limits messages (and attachments) to 20 MB. The files were less than 3 MB.

HT1923 Trouble with newest version of iTunes not updating properly

I tried updating to the newest version of iTunes because I received the Apple Software Update for it. It wouldn't install properly, so I manually installed the newest version. When I tried to open iTunes I received an error message: "APSDaemon.exe - System Error; MSVCR80.dll not found, try reinstalling the software". So I clicked okay and received an error message the iTunes was not installed properly, try reinstalling. Then I uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it, but received the same error messages about 2/3 of the way through reinstalling. Now iTunes won't install at all. I went to the support page and got the instructions for removing and reinstalling iTunes on Windows 7, but I can't finish the removing steps because Apple Mobile Device Support will not uninstall at all. My husband is having the same issue on his computer. Is this a known issue with the new version of iTunes for windows? How do we fix it now? We really need iTunes on the computers to sync with our phones, iPod, and iPad. Any help would be appreciated...should I contact apple support directly?

Update - I was able to finally uninstall the Apple Mobile Device Support component and the rest of the components. I was not able to delete the common files/Apple folder when checking to make sure all the components were removed; however, I think that is because I have an Apple AirPort WiFi Device. Anyway, the newest version of iTunes did install on my computer after following these instructions. So I believe my issue is resolved. We will see...

Trouble with newer versions of Firefox on Windows XP

Long time Firefox user but started having problems a few updates ago. Uninstalled 8.0 and reinstalled newest version. Have not added any plugins/add-ons with install yet list below shows many (some unrecognizable (did not save any old settings with uninstall). New 9.0.1 does not look like new interface should...looks like an older one. Did not reload old bookmarks but new install will not bookmark anything. Some extensions did not work properly with old 8.0 version. Is this an XP problem with the newer Firefox versions and if so should I go back to an older version (which one)? Don't want to move to Chrome and will not use IE but Firefox is bricked without bookmarks and other problems. Help?

There is a discussion group for Boot Camp. Search in that group for answers, this has been covered before.
Remember you are not only using beta software you are using it to install Windows.
Before heading off in a great search in the Boot Camp discussions... Be absolutely certain that you have WinXP (Pro or Home) with Service Pack 2 (SP2) installed. While in WinXP right click on "My Computer" and select "Properties", it will tell you if this is true.
Some folks have resorted to unpacking the driver file & installing each one at a time. The drivers can be unpacked using a command line switch. I don't remember the exact syntax - but a quick search in the Boot Camp discussion group should bring you the answer.

Trouble opening JPG files sent to my email address in Mail

If I open my Mail box, I am unable to view JPG sent to me, but if I log onto >mac through firefox, the photos are displayed as per normal, but if I use the Mail appl, all I get is text messages

It sounds like you have two Email account preferences: one for your .mac the other for the aol. Depending on which account you have selected will determine which outgoing email server is used. Check that the selected mac account prefs is using .mac as its outgoing mail server.

Trouble with mobile versions of site

I have designed a very simple two-page site at charlestonskinnyjeans.com and I am trying to offer my client a mobile optimized version. When I preview the phone design in Muse, everything looks fine. When I actually pull up the site on my phone (Samsung Galaxy SIII), it shows the phone design but with huge amounts of gray space on the right and bottom. It's not loading at full width.
I have checked the design board and cleared any hidden frames. I don't think I have any effects that go outside the content margins.
I'm stumped. Please help!

Trouble with Mac mail. Cannot receive email

I've had this problem before and have previously been able to resolve.
I didn't make any changes to my computer and suddenly my email stopped arriving on my mac. I am receiving fine on my iPhone and iPad.
Looked around a little and I see that there is no IMAP path prefix listed. I "believe" there was one before. It has 143 listed for the Port and SSL is not checked.
Also, around that same day, my iphoto doesn't work the same when uploading from another site. For example, if I am on a message board and I want to attach a photo, I hit attach, then browse through iPhoto. In that particular feature, the photos that were uploaded to iPhoto after the date of the mail issue, those photos are not available to be chosen. They are in iPhoto in events, etc., but cannot be seen in this particular function. I'm wondering if these two problems are related. I'm assuming they must be since they both happened on the same day.
Anyway, hoping someone knows what I should do to get back on path.

Trouble with GoDaddy Domain and Google Apps Email

This question doesn't really involve Apple too much, though I do use MobileMe to host a website and GoDaddy provides the Domain Name without flaws.
Previously, Yahoo hosted my Domain Name, and I had my Mx Records set up so that all emails were forwarded to Google Apps, and it worked using Google's instructions. Now I use GoDaddy for the Domain Name Hosting, and have used Google's instructions again (but this time for GoDaddy), and now my email does not work.
I have already contacted GoDaddy multiple times, and they are not willing to help me at all.
If anyone else uses these services, I would greatly appreciate if you could maybe Screen-Shot your Mx Records in GoDaddy for me so that I may finally get my Email back working.

Trouble with viewing family share invite on email??

I am the family share manager and i sent out 2 invites to family members. they were not able to open the invite on the email. Has anyone ran into this problem???

A bit different, I've been sending and resending the invitations under Family Sharing but none of my kids nor wife have yet to receive a single invitation yet to attempt and open and accept ?? Had zero issues updating to Yosemite and IOS 8 across all my devices but family sharing I am spinning my wheels going nowhere. Docs said they can accept actual email or by invite showing up in family sharing under iCloud in System Preferences. Try the other...

Im having trouble with SDK Version 1.3 someone please help

I downloaded it and installed it, when I go to javac or compile the thing it says "Bad Command or filename" However it will Java it but there's no use in that if I can't javac it. Anyone have a solution to this?

Set your path by editing your autoexec.bat file (copy it b4 you change it for safety sake) on win98 or from control panel on NT.

Its a step by step lesson on getting things like path and classpath (you prob dont have to set classpath ) set for windows or linux or macs so you dont have to do something like the following each time you want to compile something
or do this on windows 98

(you understand that C:\jdk1.3.0_1\bin\javac should be whatever the path is to javac on your machine)

I have two TouchPads, both have Android installed on them.
I booted the 16gb one back into webOS, and you are right - it won't play.
The other, using Android ICS as it's OS was able to pull up some of the DJ's, and I was able to listen to shows.
I suggest you check out the "Android on the TouchPad" section of webosnation.com to consider loading Android onto your device. Officially, we can't support this option here on HP's forum, so all liability will be yours if you choose this option.

Having trouble with outgoing mail settings

How do I rank or rotate a raw and jpg version (combo?)of the same photo with 1 click in Lightroom 4?

Hi, i am new to this forum
I did some searching, but could not find the answer.
I only make stacks of exactly the same photos, but with different formats, mostly 2 jpg versions and a raw. If i change photos further, i unstack that photo, to see the different photos right away.
So, i always want to apply changes to all the photos in a stack, because all basic versions have the same rank, should have the same rotation, and other exif data that i change.
Does anybody know how to always change all photos in a stack in Lightroom?

If you shoot RAW+JPEG, there is a spechial option in LR (Preferences>General>Treat JPEG files next to raw files as separted photos) which teats both as one item (unchecked).
All your metadata change is appliled to both, but you do not see the JPEG in LR.
I started with this setting on. But after a while, I recongnized, that I do not want the JPEGs anylonger. Why? Because I did two things:
1. I tried to develop the RAW in a way it looks like the JPEG. Well, O.K. This is only usefull for a very limited number of images (low light, high light) where you have to rescue information from the RAW that is lost in the JPEG. For all other images, it is easier to use the JEPG
2. I developed the RAW in a way that it looks different from the JPEG. I did so, because I want to show this version to others, not the JPEG. Therefore I deleted the JPEG.
There is no way in LR to apply a function / preset to a stack. Only the marked images are affedted. This is the problem with stacks. E.g. you go into a folder with stacks, select all, export all selected and notice, that some images are missing (the ones in the collapsed stack). Every time I got into a folder with stacks and do not want to organize the images, I select "Expand all stacks" from he menu.

Make sure that you allow pages to choose their colors and that you haven't enabled High Contrast in the Accessibility settings.

If images are missing then check that you aren't blocking images from some domains.
*Check the permissions for the domain in the current tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"
*Check that images are enabled: Tools > Options > Content: [X] Load images automatically
*Check the exceptions in "Tools > Options > Content: Load Images > Exceptions"
*Check the "Tools > Page Info > Media" tab for blocked images (scroll through all the images with the cursor Down key).
If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.
Make sure that you do not block third-party images, the permissions.default.images pref should be 1.

There are also extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and security software (firewall, anti-virus) that can block images.
