Trouble with large report

Software:
Oracle database 10.2.0.4.0 on Unix
Forms, reports, OAS 10.1.2.0.2 on my computer Windows XP SP3
Internet explorer 7.0
This is a conversion from 6i to 10g.
I have converted everything but am having problem with large report. It runs fine from report builder, runs fine from the command line, however, when called from a form, it looks like the report was running (about 100 pages) and then for some reason started over…data overlays data. Wish I could include a sample of the output...hard to describe.
If I restricted the report to the first 600 rows of data, it runs fine when called from a form.
Has anyone else had a problem like this? If so, how did you fix it?

Have you manually created page 3?
What do you exactly want to do on page 3?
Do you want to see and update the data from the selected record in the single record view at the top of the page or
do you want to change the data in the tabular form at the bottom? Because in that case you need a "Multi Row Update" process. Just create a tabular from with the wizard and you can see which processes normally exist.

Trouble with large videos

I'm wondering if anyone has had any trouble with large videos in their stacks? We are using a clip that weighs in at about 311 MB and my art director is reporting some trouble getting it into InDesign.
A shorter clip weighing in at 170 MB is working just fine.
Any ideas?

That is a pretty small file for being 7 hours long.
Have you tried using interpolation and converting the hours, seconds and frames into all seconds or does that defeat the object of the composition? I have a bunch of movies taken with the same camera and some do not provide a timecode. Has been an issue for me for a while. In X.6.+ even apple created comps cause the finder and QC to crash. Trouble with crystal report viewer - don't show swf file

i'm developing an application with Crystal Report and Xcelsius.
My scenario is:
Visual Studio 2008
Crystal Report 12.1.0.892
( for the cliente CRRuntime_12_1_mlb.msi)
I tried to develop only the kernel of the application a form vb that call another form with
crystalReportViewer (12.0.2000.0)
My trouble is that i can't see the flash embed in Crystal Report file.
(In the Crystal Report preview all wors fine)
Can someone help me with this ?

Unfortunately this functionality is not currently available within .NET windows forms applications. It will work in ASP.NET applications.

Trouble with MSSQL Reporting Services and Oracle: PLS-00553: character set

First off, Oracle version is 8.1.7.4.0. SQL is 64bit 2005 on Windows 2003 with all the latest patches. We’re using the Oracle 10.2 client on the SQL box.
A few months ago queries against Oracle stopped working on our MSSQL reporting services server - after a service pack on this same system.
I ended up having to grant permissions on Oracle directories to eliminate the first error and then renamed the NLS_LANG registry entry (effectively deleting it) to get rid of the second error.
The second error was: ORA-12705: Cannot access NLS data files or invalid environment specified. I don’t have docs on the first error, but it was a reference to a file access problem. Looking at this error again makes me think that I still have some file access problems.
The old value for the NLS_LANG registry key was: AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252
Everything has been working fine since then.
Now we are moving some new reports into production which use Oracle stored procedures and they are getting this error:

I've created a test package as below, which has also gotten the same error.

I tried setting the NLS_Lang value back to its old value, but it did not fix this problem – and made all the regular oracle queries break again.
From what I've read, the client should be using the database default if the charset is not specified on the client.
Can anyone advise on what the problem might be?

With all due respects I can not think of a worse reporting tool than MS Reporting Services.
Give serious consideration to getting a real report writing tool from Oracle or SAP (Business Objects / Crystal).
Reporting Services is one nightmare after another.

Console login trouble with Crystal Reports Server XI

I installed Crystal Reports Server XI on a new box (replacing old), then applied SP1, and then SP2 bringing it up to the same level as the old box - Version Name: BOXIWIN_SP2 Build Number: 11.0.101.8004.
However, when I restarted the server and logged into Windows, I received the error "CRSXI_MLB_Autorun.exe encountered a problem and needed to close." Although, all the services are running in Central Configuration Manager, I am unable to login to the Central Management Console with the default "Administrator" account (the screen just blanks the User Name: Administrator" field when I click "Log On".
The new server is running Win2003 R2 Enterprise Edition SP2. Old server is running Win2003 Standard Edition SP2. I am using the same install media as was used on the old server, though installation on the old server was done before W2K3 SP2 was installed. Could it be W2K3 SP2, or perhaps the use or R2 or Enterprise Edition? Any thoughts on how to fix this so I can login to CMC?

XIR1 used to have issues with Microsoft DEP, I don't recall exactly but you can set DEP to windows services only from my computer > properties > data execution prevention.
Also when logging in try changing the URL to (local host on the server, the IP address, or the FQDN) see if that helps. When there is no error the problem is likely not the CMS but could be in the web/app.
I don't think anything that was installed should be starting a file called "CRSXI_MLB_Autorun.exe" Could that have gotten added to the windows run registry key or startup group by accident?
Also if you login to a client tool like crystal reports, business views with administrator what error do you receive?

Troubles with Large Images in CS4

I am having a problem with importing larger images in InDesign CS4. I need to be able to put a full page image in my product. Smaller images are not a problem at all. Actually, I am having a couple issues.
First, my ID doc is 1024x768. When I resize an image in Photoshop to those dimensions and then import it into ID, all I get is a little tiny box. What am I doing wrong? I have tried mixing the image size up a bit with several different configurations, but then all I get is a little bit bigger box.
My main problem is when I do get an image that is large enough, it is very blurry, almost pixelated. I have no idea what is the cause of this and would greatly appreciate a response. Thanks in advance.

Well, your resolution in Photoshop has only some relation to the size of your document in InDesign. Perhaps CS4 has something new that CS3 doesn't, but I can't set an Indy doc to 1027 x 768 pixels; the only measurements I get are things like picas, inches, and other non-screen measurements.
When working in Photoshop (really not my strong point), you have control over both the image size and the canvas size, right? And one of the values you're working with is going to be pixels per inch, no? I'm guessing that a Photoshop image with a size of 1024 x 768 pixels at 72 ppi (screen resolution) is what you are placing in an InDesign document, which is simply not going to display that information at 72 ppi. It'll probably display it at 300 ppi, or something similar, no?
This just shows you my basic ignorance of Photoshop. However, even someone as PS-impaired as myself knows that you can set the image size and canvas size in Photoshop, and this will control your number of pixels per inch. If you save a PSD or a TIFF out of PS, and you have your canvas and image settings correct, then you'll get a good idea onscreen of how large your image is inside your ID document, and what your resolution will be. In fact, InDesign will merrily let you place PSDs at whatever resolution you set up in PS. So, to sum up:
1) Your image is being placed at a print-level resolution, which is why it's so small
2) You determine the resolution of your image in Photoshop
3) Bob's question bears repeating: 1024 whats?

Trouble with tabular report

Dear Friends,
Can we change data in a tabular report or do i have to create items first and then place data into the items then update them. At the moment i have a page where i can delete and insert but not update.
Is is because it is a report.... i am really stuck and have been on this for four days! i have purchased a book but not arrived yet
i have also recreated the whole thing on http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn. However, noone seems to be able to help... Does it mean its not possible.. shall i go back to using oracle 6i forms??? It seems simple enough but it wont do it
i just dont understand!

INTERNET CONNECTION NOT DETECTED message with Crystal Reports 2011

Hello:
We upgrade from SQL 3008 R2 to SQL 2012 SP1. Had trouble with Crystal Reports not opening reports. Information on the internet indicated that you had to reinstall Crystal Reports after upgrading SQL. We did a repair of Crystal Reports 2011. I have the box checked to check for updates when Crystal Reports starts. I am now getting INTERNET CONNECTION NOT DETECTED and the application will not check for updates. We have tried turning of the firewall and almost everything else we can think of. I have access to the internet from that server and IE9 works just fine. Can anyone help, please.

OC4J: Troubles with characters in Reports 9i and JSP

We are having troubles with especial characters in OC4J. Those problems appear in JSP's and Reports.
Some information about it:
- the especial characters in spanish are replaced by strange characters (2 chars for every especial char).
- this happens with strings from ApplicationResources.properties (we use Struts framework) and NOT with those chars read from database via JDBC.
- the problem doesn't happen in JDeveloper. It happens when we deploy the application to iAS 9i R2. With reports, it happens both from RWBuilder and local OC4J + RWServlet
- When we used iAS R1 core version this didn't happen. When we changed to iAS R2 full installation (to be able to use Reports Server) it began to happen.
Any help about it ?

Having trouble with my screen becoming larger than my phone supports. Can this be corrected without taking the phone to an Apple store?

The sign on screen (where the current time and the slide to unlock) and if I can get it to open, the next screen that show all the apps. Have been unable to get any further that that second screen. The screen contents appear to be about twice the size they should be. I have been able to "reset" the phone by turning it off, but the problem happening several times a day and now occasioanally the reset does not work. This just started happening about 3 days ago and is increasing in frequency. I have had this phone about 14 months.

I noticed that the "Data Dictionary Reports" use :OWNER
So I have tried all sort of variations:
select * from :OWNER.TABLE_NAME
select * from :OWNER\.TABLE_NAME
select * from ":OWNER".TABLE_NAME
select * from ':OWNER'.TABLE_NAME
select * from (:OWNER).TABLE_NAME
And every other variation I can think of. This is a simple example, but all my reports need the owner of tables as a variable.
I assume this is simple, I just have not hit the right combination.

Performance: How to manage large reports with high data volume

Hi everybody,
we actually make some tests on our BO server system, to define limitations and oppertunities. Among other things we constructed a large report with a high data volume (about 250.000 data records).
When executing the query in SAP Query Designer it takes about 10 minutes to display it. In Crystal Reports we rebult the row and column structure of the query. The data retrieval in Crystal Reports Designer last about 9 minutes - even faster as in the query.
Unfortunately in BO InfoView the report is not displayed. After 30 minutes of loading time we get a timeout error RCIRAS0244.
com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.managedreports.ras.internal.ManagedRASException:
Cannot open report document. ---
The request timed out because there has been no reply from the server for 600.000 milliseconds.
Also a refresh of an report with saved data is not possible.
Now we are asking us some questions:
1. Where can we set the timeout for InfoView to a value larger than 30 minutes?
2. Why is InfoView so slow compared to Crystal Designer? Where is the bottleneck?
3. Whats the impact of SAP single sign-on compared to Enterprise logon on the performance?

I will check the servers and maybe change the time limits.
Unfortunately we have a quite slow server system that probably cause this timeout. In CR Designer we have no problems, its really quick. Is it to expect that CR Designer and InfoView have almost the same performance?
Another nice point: When we execute the query in SAP BEx Query Designer it takes about 10 minutes to open it, in Crystal Designer it needs just about 5-6 minutes. We integrated exactly the same fields in the report, which exist in die SAP BEx query.
What may cause the difference?
- Exceptions and conditions in the query?
- Free characteristics in the query?
- anything else?

Trouble with query on Reports

Hi,
I am having trouble with a query which results from a join of 4 tables, of which, one table is shortened by grouping it along one column.
for example
A join B join C join (D grouped by D.S)
In MS Access I had used a separate query to represent this and done a join with the remaining tables to generate my report.
Any one has any idea about how this can be done using just one query, or any way I can store the sub-result elsewhere like in Access.

Not usre this is a reports issue, but:
I think you are trying to select from tables and queries in one.
IN your SQL statement try
SELECT data,etc
FROM
A,
B,
C
, (select distinct S from D) Q_D
where
A join B join C join Q_D
Note that I don't think you can use sub queries like this in Access
