Trouble with MacBook Pro To TV connection?

Having purchased a DVI to HDMI adapter and connected my MacBook Pro to my TV using this adapter and an expensive HDMI cable, I still cannot get a signal to my TV.
I have selected the correct input channel using my TV remote, but still get a 'No Signal' message from my TV. I have tried running through the the other inputs, just to make sure, but still no signal.
I have checked all of my cable connections and they are all okay.
Does anyone know what may be my problem?
I could really use some help!

Howdy needymacuser,
First I'd recommend trying another display and/or cable/adapter (if possible) to verify that there's no issue with either of those. If those check out or aren't an option, I'd recommend resetting your MacBook Pro's PRAM and SMC.
Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.
Reset the resolution
Start by resetting the Mac's parameter RAM. If the display does not come up, was previously set to an unsupported resolution, and still results in no video:
Start up in Safe Mode.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
Choose Displays from the View menu to open the preferences pane.
Select any resolution and refresh rate that your display supports.
Restart your computer.

  • Trouble with MacBook Pro finding AirPort networks

I recently bought a new (refurbished) MacBook Pro (15", 1.83GHz), to replace my old iBook, which was one of the early white models, circa 2001.
Everything about my new computer is wonderful, of course, except that every time I boot up, wake from sleep, or turn on the AirPort, it takes up to a full minute for the AirPort to find any open networks. This happens at school (where there are AirPort base stations all over the place), at home (where we have a Belkin router, and several neighbors have others), and at my parents' house (where they have a linksys router). It doesn't seem to matter whether the networks use encryption or not, nor how close or far I am from the nearest router. If I know the name of a nearby open network and type it in, I can get it, usually. On my old iBook, I had a little trouble with some of the networks at school sometimes, but never with this kind of delay across the board, and certainly never at home nor at my parents'.
Also, at home, when the the AirPort finally does find the available networks, it NEVER chooses my router first, even though it's the only one in the neighborhood that I listed under "Preferred Networks."
I've read some similar posts, dealing with problems with accessing encrypted networks, but nothing seemed to address my particular issue. It might be a defect with the AirPort or firmware, but I wanted to check, first.
(Oh, and I'm not a complete newbie, but tech-speak often goes over my head. Please keep it simple.)
    Thanks!

This is how I fixed the problem on my MBP.
Go to Macintosh HD > Library > Preferences
    Delete the folder SystemConfiguration
Go to System Prefrences > Network > Show+Network Port Configuration. Check Airport and Built-in Ethernet and make sure Airport is on the top of the list.
Reconfigure your wep passwords and it should work. Worked for me. Also, you will have to redo your power settings.

  • Having trouble with macbook pro dock at the bottom of the screen

I have a 13'' macbook pro, and i now have 2 different docks at the bottom of my screen. One is functional and the other one is not. How to i get rid of one of the docks?

Please post the age of your MBP, IE what year is was made, IE what year Model is it. and also as above a image/picture of the screen (a Screen Shot may not do it if the second Dock is some type of Ghost entry).
Other then that you have some type of software corruption or hardware failure going on. There should never be a second Dock at the bottom of the screen. So there is No easy fix for this problem. It may be hardware and if so that hardware would need to be replaced. Or is could be software corruption and in that case a Wipe of the drive and reinstall may be needed.

  • Power troubles with MacBook Pro

My MacBook Pro has stopped charging.  I've changed power supplies, but it's not working.  Can anyone help?

Your post suggests that you have a new power adapter.  If you purchased it from Apple, then it is warranted and should be replaced, assuming it is in the warranty period.
If you have access to another power adapter, try that. Have you  checked the contacts of the MBP and the power adapter?  Have you checked the battery condition?
    Ciao.

  • Does 'Network Connect' work with MacBook Pro?

My safari unexpectedly quits when attempting to log into my company's VPN.
    - I log into our VPN website and the connection begins to initialize
    - with my MacBook, Safari (2.0.3) unexpectedly quits
    - with my PowerBook, 'Network Connect' automatically starts and the VPN connection completes without any problem
Does 'Network Connect' work with MacBook Pro? Any ideas?

Resolved. MacBook Pro was having trouble dowloading the 'Network Connect' application when I logged into my VPN client for the first time. I copied it from my PowerBook G4 over to the appropriate folder and it now works perfectly.

My macbook pro no longer connects to my TV with the mini dvi to hdmi adapter. A while ago the computer fell down and hit the cable. How can I tell if the computer is working ok. Doesn't show mirroring any more. Was working while watching a movie but when I pulled it out from the computer and put it back in the system would no longer mirrorr the screen on the TV.

The best option is an appointment at an Apple store genius bar.  The evaluation will be for FREE!

    Hello chrispyw,
If your content is still being displayed incorrectly, I would check the resolution setting for the built in display with this article:
OS X Yosemite: Adjust your display’s resolution
If it keeps happening whenever you use AirPlay then I would use this section of the following article to reset the display system:
Apple computers: Troubleshooting issues with video on internal or external displays
    Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.Reset the resolution

  • I have samsung corby gts3653 mobile and need to connect internet to mac through it but it doesn't have wifi and pcsuite for mac and how could i able to connect it through gprs? GPRS is active in mobile but unable to link it with macbook pro(using lion os)

i have samsung corby gts3653 mobile and need to connect internet to mac through it but it doesn't have wifi and pcsuite for mac and how could i able to connect it, through gprs? GPRS is active in mobile but unable to link it with macbook pro(using lion os) can any one reply.

Until the MacBook Air was released and supported in 10.5, the Mac did not consider USB to be a valid Networking Protocol. So set the Mac with USB solutions aside.
To connect computer-to-computer, you typically need to be using an Ethernet crossover cable. Assigning the same address to two Ethernet devices is never the solution -- it gives a Network Conflict, just as you said.
If your Windows box has some mechanism for Sharing its WiFi connection over Ethernet, you would have to follow its rules. Whether that means Manually assigning an Ethernet Address in the same range or the PC will provide the Address, I do not know.
Best success may be running an Ethernet cable to your Wired/Wireless Base Station, or using a "gaming adapter" (Ethernet-to-Wireless no drivers required) connected to the Mac's Ethernet port to give it WiFi access. What is your Base Station {Cable, DSL, FIOS, Other} ? Ethernet cables can be up to 100 meters (an American Football Field). Often the Base Station can be moved closer for more convenience.

  • My Contacts app for macbook pro will not connect with my yahoo and keeps asking for password.

My Contacts app for macbook pro will not connect with my yahoo account and repeatedly asks for yahoo password, any soliutions to this?

This is due to a change in Yahoo's security settings. You need to go into your Yahoo account settings and create a special App Password, then use that password in Contacts to access your account. Same goes for Calendar.

  • Can connect to Snow with MacBook Pro but not G4

I have used my G4 with the airport for a long time. I recently got a MacBook Pro and it connects in fine to the ABS. Both worked connecting to the ABS for a few months. Suddenly, the G4 quit recognizing the ABS. Nothing I do allows it to find it. Could there have been a software update that caused this? There was a thunder storm, but no recognizable issues on the G4, everything seems to be fine...except it doesn't see the Airport.
Thanks in advance for any ideas.
    Larry
    G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

try unplugging your broadband modem and ABS for a short time and plug them back in.

  • Airport not maintaining internet connection on my D-link router with Macbook Pro 5.5 with Snow leopard

Airport keeps throwing me out of internet connection on my D-link router with Macbook Pro 5.5 with Snow leopard. Pls if anyone has a solution to this then let me know

I'm using my PC notebook because connecting with my iMac is IMPOSSIBLE!!! If I get connected at all, it's worse than dial-up speed.
We are wireless via a D-Link DIR-625 (new) -- but was having some problems before with a netgear. Problem much worse now. My computers are not the primary computers. My sister gets that coin toss. She is a PC user. I share with her using WPA2. When the iMac "wakes" the signal bands are strong, but when I go to a page I lose all signal strength. And several times a day I get a message indicating an error joining the network -- arghhhhh -- HELP!
Is the problem with D-Link or Mac? Thanks for any help.

You could try updating your apple TV and then restarting it. Bit of a guess.
