Trouble with Mail

Hi I'm running 10.4.11 on the OS I recently went and reinstalled and did all my updates and now I have trouble receiving emails using mail the error message reads "The connection to the server "smtp.gmail.com" on port 25 timed out." Any advice on how to fix this? Thank you much

Sometimes an ISP will bloc a whole other ISP too, if it's the source of too much SPAM.

I'm having troubles with Mail. Some mails (in particular to gmail addresses) are not sent. When sending an email, Mail apparently works for a while but does'nt sent anything. I repeated sending the mail with the same result and 2 or more mails in the draft folder. Yesterday I discovered that the mail had been sent 4 times!. Now I have the same problem: the mail has not been sent, it appears in the draft folder, I try to delete it but the mail remains in the draft folder. This happens after updating to Mac OS X 10.7.2 and migrating to iCloud.
I have MacBook 2 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 Mb ram memory, Mac OS X Lion (10.7.2).

If those music are greyed out in iTunes on your laptop, are you able to play the music? If you cannot, it means that you probably deleted the mp3 file or moved it to another location where iTunes can no longer find. If they are greyed out on iTunes and cannot play them, I would just right click and delete it. Then re-sync with your iPad.

Having trouble with mail.app always reply all is cc'ing myself. Solution was to add another address under the account so that it recoginzes aliases as well as the primary account that you are sending from. Then it will recognize all the addresses and aliases associated with the account.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
Step 2
In the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports (not "Diagnostic and Usage Messages") for crash reports related to the crashed process. The report name starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the entire contents—again, the text, not a screenshot. I know the report is long. Please post all of it anyway.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

Scrolling troubles with mail (Mavericks)

Hi,
I'm experiencing regular scrolling troubles with mail since i've upgrade to Mavericks (latest mail upgrade included).
This is happening either in the messages themselves or message list or mailboxes list.
All others functions are on only scrolling is freezed.
After few minutes scrolling is back.
Does anybody experienced such trouble?

Thanks ZOGY the PRAM reset solved the scrolling bug for me.
Simultaneously hold down keys "option + command + P + R" during restart until the reboot repeats the chime, then release.

Trouble with Mail and Maverick

Trouble with Maverick and Mail - contacts (groups) will not load into address bar in mail.

Check that the mac's preferences for icloud is still connected to the proper account. Be sure photo stream is turned on.
You haven't described what "trouble" your mail account has.

I have had trouble with icloud since they've had it. Filled with bugs. I can login onto icloud via my imac but cannot via my iphone or ipad. It says "invalid password" ... I go to settings to re-enter my correct password ... it validates ... back to mail and the same thing happens over and over. ****** service.

I have a Leopard desktop 10.5.8 and I have trouble with my Email Apple MAIL draft folder. First of all after I typed my draft and sent to draft, the folder would not open at a later date to send. In all I have 10 messages, mainly test which I cannot delete from my Draft folder.
My draft system is now working but I cannot get rid of the 10 messages which sit in my INBOX and DRAFT folders.
These messages appear in Application - Mail but they will not go.
How do I delete, or is it best to use My Disc 1# and delete all my software and replace with the Disc in order to have a new MAIL program?
Any advice would be welcome.

Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move this folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
Reboot.
If that doesn't do it and you can afford to redo all your Rules, try these & reboot...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist.backup
Note, in 10.5 & up /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/ may or may not exist.

Having Trouble With Mail Account

I'm having trouble with one of my computers and my imap gmail account. Imap on my desktop works perfectly but on my laptop it does not go online (when I click on the caution symbol that asks me if I want to go online, it ignores the request). My old Pop account works fine on this computer but for syncing purposes I really need to get Imap working. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I updated my software on my hard drive, synched my iPad and now am having trouble with mail. Anyone else having this issue?

I keep getting the can't locate server message, when trying to update mail, but can update mail if I log onto the server from the Internet, on my iPad, or use my mail app on my desk top. The problem seems to be with the iPad mail app. I went through the settings and powered down. That only buys me one "check mail." anybody have any suggestions?

Trouble with Mail sending large attachments using iCloud

I am on an iMac running Lion 10.7.2 using Mail 5.1
My wife and I both have iCloud accounts.
I have been trying to send an email with three pdf files. The total size of all three files is 48.4 mb.
Other emails go out without any problem, but this one email will not go out.
I keep getting the following message:
Cannot send message using the server ...
I then try my wife's iCloud account and it does the same thing.
Can anyone help me figure this out? Is there a phone number or text support to actually talk to someone at apple?

The total size of all three files is 48.4 mb.
That's why. That maximum size of incoming and outgoing messages is 20MB:

Email really isn't designed for transferring large files and all email providers have attachment size limits to avoid people clogging up their mail servers.
Use one of the many (free) large file transfer services instead.

Eem on cisco 877, trouble with mail server action and smtp auth

hello all,
i'm using a router 877 at home and i really need to check out what this router do during the day.
So some time ago i configured it using some eem actions and sending to me email, without any problems.
Yesterday I changed my internet provider and now i need to use smtp autheticantion to send emails.
I read about how to authenticate, like username:password@host and also made a fast search here, without solve my problem.
I need to put as username the email of the provider like: [email protected]:[email protected]
So, i want to know if someone had the same problem and solved it. Of course i couldn't use @ two times or eem would think that host.com is my smtp server! And right now is going in this way!
My IOS version is 15.1(2)T2, eem version is 3.1.

Trouble with mail 5.3

Hello.. I work for someone who likes to dictate e mails to me.. I type them and try to print them to be checked before sending.
I cannot get my mail program to format the e mail into a nice format.. Either the words are all bunched together as the spacing is whonky.. or the paragraphs do not exist , or the lines end mid sentence and continue onto the next line for no reason.
Is there some way to set preferences in how mail prints?
Incoming e mails print fine.
it is outgoing mails which are totally screwed up.
I cannot tell how the mail I send has been received. Sometimes , when I look into my sent folder, the sent mail looks fine, and other times, the sent mail looks totally whacky!!
HELP please.. this is important....My job is at stake.
I am using my own computer on the job ( mac book pro) with Lion OS.. which I want to keep because I have the original PAGES app elsewhere on the computer.. That has been upgraded in the new OS's to be totally unusable with old PAGES documents.. SO i am not upgrading to any newer OS than Lion.

Trouble with mail attachments

I upgraded to an iMac 10.4.10 this month - have been sending emails with & w/o attchmts for last two weeks with no problem. Today sent email to one client (on PC)and they couldn't open PDF (they have uptodate reader) so I sent it to my son on PC and it worked, then another client's email was returned with this message:
Reason: SMTP transmission failure has occurred
Diagnostic code: smtp;554 sorry, the attachment is in my badmimetypes list (#5.6.0)
Remote system: dns;mail.xmihosting.com (TCP|10.0.120.163|12819|64.69.82.7|25) (mail.xmihosting.com ESMTP)
I called shaw (server) and they sugg. I copy the returned email and send to them - that came back too! - any suggestions? when I did copy/paste - I see a file "mime-attachment.html" before and after each PDF...?

How did you create the PDF? Did it have any live URL links, or other links within it? I am wondering if the content of the PDF would have triggered a SPAM filter somewhere in the path of servers used during senders?
All attachments, in general, are MIME type, but this is not referenced unless the extension (.pdf in this case) has gotten removed, and the file type is not otherwise known -- this can happen by action of a server, as well.
If not too sensitive, you may send such a PDF to me, and I will examine. My address can be found by clicking on my name to the left of this message, and looking in the bio line of my Profile.

TS3276 Trouble with mail running slow

My mail is running very slowly and it looks as if I have more messages saved and coming in that I believe I actually have. I also have a message that reads "connection logging enabled" at the top that seemed to appear about a month ago and I don't know what it means. Any reason for mail running slow, mail messages duplicating multiple times and for trash not emptying as it should?

From the Mail menu bar, select
