Trouble with Messages -recipient in red -

Hi there.
So far two people I frequently exchange text messages with now show up in red (on my computer) saying the person or number is not registered with iMessages. However, I am able to send them messages from my iphone. This is just happening on my imac and my ibook, not on my iphone.
Normally, my messages to them show green and their messages to me show light grey, now I am unable to send them a message.
On my iphone settings > messages, I have i message and send as SMS turned on. I have restarted iMessages and also Signed out and back in from my iphone twice, no success. I also restarted the iphone and the computer.
My contacts are checked in on iCloud. Wi-Fi is working fine. On my phone, their phone calls (recent) show normal.
Since my ibook also shows them in red, I am assuming this is an iCloud problem, but I am posting here first.
Also, on messages on iphone, they both show green.

I will start with reposting this bit from my last post
The issue is with the Apple ID used on the Mac for iMessages rather than iCloud.
That is to say although you might use the same Apple ID for iCloud, iTunes, App Store, Game Centre, FaceTime or iMessages they don' have to be.
Therefore an issue in iMessages can be an issue with the servers.
If you go to System Preferences > iCloud there is no option in any form to set anything for Messages or the iMessages account.
You are an Apple ID.
It might (and should be nowadays) compatible with iCloud and could be called an iCloud ID.
The Same Apple ID can be used to login to iTunes and the App Store - in fact if you do this and use iTunes Cards the remaining money you have in your Account appears in both places.
Again, in the System Preferences > iCloud there is not option to Set the iCloud ID for iTunes.
Same for the Game Centre.
Same for FaceTime (I would recommend using the same one as iMessages if you are  also going to use this method to Video or Audio Chat.)
Therefore you can have many Apple IDs and use them in different Places (different app).
iCloud is a service or rather collection of services that needs a specific type of Apple ID
There is obviously some sort of backend link that allows each server to check the Apple ID's password f you are using the same Apple ID in lots of app/places.
Deleting your iCloud settings  will make no difference to iMessages account on the Mac (or on any other device as it does not sync that info).
If the Messages App is telling you that the iMessages Account needs to be Enabled (logged in) then in effect it is telling you it is not logged in.
We know from other errors the app does show you that this is possible (One device not logging in).
The only fix we are  aware of is to contact Apple support and get a level 2 person to look at the iMessages Registration for your Apple ID and see if it lists your Mac  (most likely it does not).

    I too, am having the same problem and have had trouble for several months, close to a year now. Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeease if anyone knows, I will beg. I generally have to search for the Gold dot that shows the new message by scrolling up and down to find it. For example, todays date of February 6th. The response I get from some people may be August last year, or yesterday or last week. Very very frustrating and tough trying to run a business when you depend on Skype so much. Anything I can do?     I had the beta version with Lion and recently upgraded to Mountain Lion. I have not been able to start a conversation on my Mac and pick it up on my iPhone. Everything else works. How do I fix this?

    I have the message problem after installing the Mountain Lion iOS.
    I finally figured it out:
    - go to system preference
    - delete all email account (if they links to message)
    - delete all message accounts
    - Quit Message by right-click and quit
    - run Message again, you will be asked for password again.
    That's all.
    My problem was probably I use my email password for the Message password since I used the same name casuing confusion.

  • Trouble with RED Log and Transfer in FCP6

    Hi there,
    I am cutting my first RED feature and am having an issue getting all my footage into FCP 6. I decided to go with the RED Quicktime files and am Log and transferring them in as we speak. Most of the footage was able to be dropped right in with no problem what so ever but I am on the last 1TB hard drive and it won't mount the folders to transfer the footage except one. One folder when in fine but the rest won't even mount. I tried importing each .RDC folder in on its own but I get an error:
    WARNING
    "A008c001_0212LV001.R3D" contains unsupported media or has an invalid directory structure. Please choose a folder whose directory structure matches supported media.
    Obviously these files are put together the same way as the other couple hundred files but these ones are giving me trouble. Has anyone else ran into this problem and how do I get the footage in.
    By the way I can open the .R3D files in Red alert without any problem

    A while has passed, unfortunately. I've been working my way through this mess, as well.
    When you get the "unsupported media or has an invalid directory structure" message it usually indicates that a catalog-like file is missing. The same now happens with P2 transfer.
    Check for an ".rsx" file within the RDC folder. Log and Transfer may not be happy if this file is missing. Sometimes it gets missed when the media is being consolidated across drives.
    ** What I'm having trouble with now is that Log and Transfer repeatedly fails to load a selected directory --- except on the umpteenth attempt. You know, the one where I'm beyond the point that most normal people are up the Bell Tower sniping at the citizenry.

  • Updated Z10 to new software release 10.2.0.429 and having trouble with sending BBM/text messages

    I recently updated my Blackberry Z10 to the new software release 10.2.0.429 and I'm having trouble sending messages on BBM b/c the red X shows up on every single message that I send to any contact on my list. This was never a problem for me prior to updating it. I also suddenly cannot open my browser nor can I open my texts properly nor send or receive texts. The keyboard on the touchscreen shows up constantly while im trying to navigate through the phone and it stays frozen until I lock/unlock the phone. All of this ONLY started happening ever since I updated it. What's going on? Please help, this shouldn't be happening!!

    I have an iPad 3, iPad Mini and iPhone 5S and they are all sluggish on capitalisation using shift keys. I hope that Apple will solve the problem because it is driving me crazy.
    I find using a Microsoft Surface and Windows 8 phone, which I also have, work as well as all the ios devices before the ios 7 upgrade.
    It has something to do with the length of time that you need to hold the shift key down. The shift key needs to be held longer than the letter key for the capitalisation to work. For some reason, this is a major change in the way we have learnt to touch type on computers. I am having to relearn how to type!

    I have a user who cannot receive a message from a particular external sender. That senders assistant (same domain and server as the external sender with the issue) is able to forward the exact same message to my user and it arrives as it should. In
    message tracking, I can see the message came in through my smart host, through my front end and to the users mailbox server, where an NDR was generated.  We had the assistant forward us the NDR and it says:
    There's a problem with the recipient's mailbox. Please try resending this message. If the problem continues, please contact your helpdesk.
    From my 3rd party smart host/spam filter, I have a copy of the message in audit and when I forward it to myself, the same thing happens - it generates an NDR when it arrives at my Exchange mailbox server.  This makes me conclude that my end users mailbox
    isn't corrupt, rather it's something in the message header that our server doesn't like (I've seen this happen with other senders as well, but it is extremely rare and random).
    Details/facts of my environment:
    -Current production messaging system is Exchange 2003.
    -Working on Exchange 2010 co-existence.
    -This problem between this sender and us has been an issue before the introduction of Exchange 2010.
    -I'm hoping to begin end user mailbox migrations to 2010 and will have the sender try again at that time, but I still have testing to do with our voice messaging system before I can begin moving end user mailboxes.

    A little more discovery...
    From my smart host/SPAM filter audit folder, I could see the message was received with a 2 meg "winmail.dat" file.  Yesterday, I had attempted redirecting the message to my own mailbox, and it bounced.  I decided to try redirecting the message
    to a 2010 mailbox, and the message arrived.  It had 3 attachments, 1 Word doc, and 2 PDF files.  So, this appears to be an encoding issue with the winmail.dat file.  Any work arounds/reasons for winmail.dat from being rejected at the mailbox
    server?  Once it made it to a 2010 mailbox/client, I was able to forward to a 2003 mailbox no problem.

    You correct it by leaving Bridge alone until it finishes rebuilding its cache, overnight if necessary.

  • Trouble with color on Presario, No red tones on display. Not a monitor issue.

    Am experiencing trouble with color on Presario, model no. CQ5500F. Purchased a couple of years ago, and trouble was present immediately. Am getting no red tones - red items appear black or sometimes blue. Was told by HP that it was a monitor issue, and let computer slide out of warranty. installed new monitor today and problem still exists. Is this merely a display adjustment of some kind? Or will I have to pay HP their $99 for a one time fix? Any suggestions appreciated.

    It could be the display driver that is not properly working
    1. Click on the start icon
    2. Right click on computer and go to properties
    3. Select Device Manager
    4. Expand display adapters and right click on the video card driver and uninstall
    The computer screen will go blank
    On the keyboard press the windows key the right arrow key twice and then the letter R.
    At this point your computer is going to reboot. After the reboot Windows will install generic drivers for your video card. Do you still see a lack of red tones?

  • Trouble with a Hdd message

    I am having trouble with my HP Pavilon dm1.  My daughter dropped it yesterday and now I am getting the HDD message.
    I waited several minutes for Windows to boot and eventually the windows cursor appeared on the screen.  It went through the system like it was going to start but ran the message below and then a blue background (it wasn't plain blue though, it was like a wallpaper) and the command prompt thingy came up stating exactly this:

    I had the same issue when I first tried to synchronize. The issue for me was when the BlackBerry Desktop Software had updated to Version 6, it left the older version - Version 5 - on my computer. If you go into the Control Panel on your computer and uninstall Version 5, and try re-synchronizing, it should work!
