Trouble with my secure network

Hello, just got my new Ipod touch today, it is the latest generation(32GB) and I'm having a **** of a time connecting to our houses secure wireless network.
No matter how many times I input the password, I always get a denial, saying that it could not connect to the network ,now, I am using a D-link wireless router, and I have tried turning off the security all-together(which worked), but as soon as I turned it back on it kicked me from the network, and I couldnt log-in again.
The damndest thing is that not one day ago, my brother got a ipod touch himself(it came as a free gift with a macbook pro purchased by my father), it is a 16GB from the previous generation of Ipod touches, but it works just fine with our secure Wi-fi, but mine wont for whatever reason.

The only security I haven't tried yet is WEP, and thats just because it changes the password to something I don't know.
I actually just got off the phone with a "product expert" who said that this is a widespread firmware issue and that they were working on making a downloadable fix.  Honestly I'm not sure if he is to be believed or not, but judging from all the posts I found using google, I certainly believe the bit about it being wide-spread issue.
By the way LE, do you have the first generation of Ipod touch?  Just curious seeing as how my brother's similarly had no problems connecting.

    You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of doing so include clicking here and picking a method for your country, and filling out and submitting this form.

  • Problem with wireless secured network in hotels

    Hello,
    I'm a cabin crew member and I travel around the world almost every week. Since the update ios 6.0, my Iphone 4 16 GB doesn't connect automatically on the wireless secured network of hotels, while it worked before the update in the same hotels. My Iphone still connects automatically on my own home network, but I must ask every time to the help desk of hotels for manually connecting, by registering my mac adress on the router. Problems in Japan (Tokyo), USA (New-York, Washington, LA) and Senegal (Dakar). I'm really upset and Apple seems not concerned. Please help me.

    Welcome to the forum.
    I'm not so familiar with Linux, though've installed and dealed with some distrs, but as far as i know they're mostly compatible with each other.
    So, check this forum (though it's Ubuntu) and try to find solution there, if no one here helps.
    Also there's a member here called wyth, which helped some Ubuntu-users, which was great. Try PM him if no help here or on that forum.

  • I have 2 ipod touch 3rd gen. Cannot connect to my wifi.  One will connect with neighbor's unsecure network..neither connect with my secured network

    I have 2 ipod touch 3rd generation.   Cannot connect to my wifi.   One will connect on and off to my neighbor's unsecure wifi but neither will connect to my secured wifi.   All my wireless computers connect plus my Ipad connects.    They did connect at one time but haven't used them for anything but audio books which connect through Itunes on my computer.   It shows my secured network name.   When I originally connected them it was another rather with other security but since then I have bought new equipment.   My Ipad and my printers just automatically connect.    I have put in the Ip information plus but still no luck.

    Try :
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Trouble with java security manager

    I have set up a security manager for my webapp running on Tomcat. The application enables the user to write his own scripts using Javascript, that's why I need to set up a security manager.
    Using Rhino as script interpreter, it is possible to use the standard java security mechanisms, e.g. using the security manager to handle the scripts' rights.
    I've added the following lines to my policy file:
    // give server all rights
    grant codeBase "file:webapp/WEB-INF/-" {
         permission java.security.AllPermission;
    //rights granted to scripts
    grant codeBase "file:restrictedClient" {
         permission java.io.FilePermission "webapp/WEB-INF/lib/js.jar", "read";
    I've assigned the scripts to the "restrictedClient" code base. However, the script execution fails as the script does not have the permission to access or define classes of any package (even standard java packages like java.lang or java.math).
    In java.security, I have found the following comment:
    # List of comma-separated packages that start with or equal this string
    # will cause a security exception to be thrown when
    # passed to checkPackageDefinition unless the
    # corresponding RuntimePermission ("defineClassInPackage."+package) has
    # been granted.
    # by default, no packages are restricted for definition, and none of
    # the class loaders supplied with the JDK call checkPackageDefinition.
    #package.definition=
    I now wonder, why the checkPackageDefinition is checked though there's no entry for any package to be checked.
    Extending the policy file like
    grant codeBase "file:restrictedClient" {
         permission java.lang.RuntimePermission "accessClassInPackage.webapp/WEB-INF/classes/org/mozilla/javascript";
         permission java.io.FilePermission "webapp/WEB-INF/lib/js.jar", "read";
         permission java.lang.RuntimePermission "defineClassInPackage.java.io";
         permission java.lang.RuntimePermission "defineClassInPackage.java.util";
         permission java.lang.RuntimePermission "defineClassInPackage.java.net";
         permission java.lang.RuntimePermission "defineClassInPackage.java.sql";
         permission java.lang.RuntimePermission "defineClassInPackage.java.lang";
         permission java.lang.RuntimePermission "defineClassInPackage.java.math";
         permission java.lang.RuntimePermission "de.methodpark.pkit.facade.impl";
    works, but an unpleasant feeling remains :-).
    Rhino creates an own classloader for script execution. Could that be the source of the strange behaviour?
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Regards,
    Matthias

    David,
    I was glad to see your post regarding WLS 9.2 and the troubles with enabling Java Security Manager.
    Were you able to learn any more on things like - why doesn't the admin console work when the security manager is enabled with the default policy file. Also, why is it so difficult to add permissions for your own applications and get them to actually work.
    I'd be curious to see if you were able to get it to work or if you have any insights or resources that can help with this as we are really struggling to get a restrictive policy file that works.
    Thanks,
    D

  • I need help with my secured network please

    i have forgotten my password for my secured network so what should i do about this?

    That depends on which password you forgot.
    If you forgot the router login password, then the only way to recover control of your router is to use the reset button, and reset it to factory defaults.  This will reset the password to "admin".
    If you have only forgotten your encryption password, you can look that up in the router.  Point your browser to 192.168.1.1  then enter your user name (if any) and password.  This will take you to your router setup pages.   Click on the tab marked "Wireless"  (on some routers, you will have to go to the "Security" tab instead).  Then start looking through the settings til you find your encryption method (WEP, WPA, WPA2).  Usually, just below this is where you will find your encryption key or encryption password.

  • Trouble with Content Security Policy (CSP)

    In the latest Firefox 33 there seem to be an issue with Content Security Policy (CSP) and how it handles url that are url encoded.
    For instance when some CSP directive is set to like https://mywebsite.com/application/do;jsessiond=1234 - it will get URL encoded so the ; gets replaced by %3B.
    In Firefox 32 and earlier this worked, but not in this new solution.

    It may be that it needs a header application/x-www-form-urlencoded is this included in your url request as well as charset UTF-8?
    If you select a different encoding via web dev [https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/encodeURI]
    This sounds like what it did before? [http://www.justarrangingbits.org/firefox-magic-decoding-address-bar/index.html]

  • Trouble with Apple Wireless networks

    I have aan extended wireless network in our house, across four apple wireless devices: Time Capsule (which is the lead device), an airport extreme (dual-band), an airport extreme (dual band II) and an Airport Express 802.11n.
    The dual-band II is a new device and since I have incorporated it i have had issues with the wireless network that only seem to be solved if we turn the Express off.  The Express is in a Kitchen, which is beneath a study where the Extreme dual band II is.
    Does anyone have any idea why there might be a problem (seems like some kind of wave interference) and how i solve it.  I put the express in the kitchen so I could connect it to a Sonos device, which then allows me to use airplay with the Sonos.
    Regards
    Edward

    Since all of your AirPorts are 802.11n models, you can only have one base station that will be extended. You can have more than one to extend it. So, in this case, the two 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Stations (AEBSn) & the AXn would be attempting to extend the wireless range of the Time Capsule (TC).
    Think of it as the TC is at the hub of a wheel and each of the extending base station would be on individual spokes of that wheel. The issue here would be the farther away an extending base station is, the less bandwidth that will be available at that part of the extended network ... and possibly why you are getting the results that you are.
    By default, the AXn (or any AirPort will not be set to extend a network. You would have to set this as an option within the AirPort Utility. If you didn't already do this for the AXn, then it would be in its default configuration of a wireless router that would be broadcasting its own wireless network ... and NOT extending the TC's network.

  • Trouble with private wifi networking (remote desktop control) w/o Internet

    When in production, the mini won't have a connection to the internet.  I need to do this over a local private wifi net.
    My goal is to control the desktop of the mac mini with an iPad.  Right now I'm using a MBP and a hardwire ethernet connection.
    For the purposes of trouble shooting, I have a MBP in place of the server - both run os x 10.8.4.  (though the mini is running Server version).  If the os x machine has a live connection to the internet - i have no problems.  but trying to control the MBP remotely (vnc client on iPad) over an ad hoc network does not work - unless the os x machine has an internet connection, say via hardwire ethernet.  Then I can share that Internet connection and there'll be a working DHCP server for the iPad to talk to.  Networking between the two is fine.  But without that, even if I try and set IP addresses manually for each device - while on the ad hoc network - putting them on the same subnet - it isn't long before each device bails on the ad hoc network in favor of a way to reach the internet.  I haven't spent money on an RDP client for iPad since it seems to be a TCP/IP behavior issue.
    A few os x versions ago, I was able to set a manual address for the ethernet port of the server - and then share that via wifi.  And vnc worked over that private network just fine.  But as of 10.7, that ethernet port wont light up green by doing that anymore.  So I guess the os x machine never fires up DHCP services.
    Is buying an external wireless router that can handle DHCP services for both devices the only way to get them talking to eachother?
    Thanks so much!
    -philip

    Are you using Wifi for Internat at the same time, or are you using Ethernet for Internet?
    If Ethernet, it may be the Service order...
    10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x/10.8.x instructions...
    System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
    The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.

  • Trouble With Links to Network Files Within Online PDF

    I posted this at the end of someone else's thread who had a similar problem but it may have gotten lost in the shuffle. Either that or no one has an answer. Here goes...
    I create a Word document that contains links to network files (tested and working) and convert the document to a PDF. The links still function in the PDF when I test them. However, when someone opens the document from our intranet, the file:/// is replaced with some form of a relative link, either to a users C: drive or to an http:// directory. If I then go into the PDF and change the link action from Open File to Open Web Link and provide the full file:/// path, everything works as intended. This really wouldnt be a big deal if I was the one maintaining the document or if it were an occasional thing. The problem is that updating or adding a link to the document means correcting the existing links all over again. This is very cumbersome for the user who maintains the document.
    I'm using Acrobat 8 Professional. Any ideas?

    I'm having a similiar issue with cross platform (Vista to Mac OS X 10.5) file linking. We currently store indesign files on a folder in a shared drive (the mac unix path to the drive is /Volumes/SharedDrive and the vista path is Z:\) and link assets in the document to another folder stored on the shared drive. Note that all linked assets are not stored in the same location on the shared drive, for instance a linked image could be deep in the folder structure (/Volumes/SharedDrive/Marketing/Images/Fall09/example.jpg).
    The Vista computer references files differently than the mac on the shared drive, it seems to mount the network drive directly on the root level rather than in the /Volumes folder. I've tried to symlink the graphics folder (the one containing all the linked assets) to the root level of the hard drive (ln -s /Volumes/SharedDrive/Graphics /Graphics) but when we tried relinking the assets InDesign figured out it was a symlink and resolved the path to the absolute path. Is there some sort of configuration option in mac to mount this windows drive (it is on SBS Windows 2003) in a way that won't cause linking conflicts between mac and pc? Any thoughts are much appreciated!
    Thank you for all your help!

  • Trouble with HD over network ...

    I have a wireless network of 4 Macs in my house. I have external hard drives hooked up to all of them. Why is it that sometimes I AM given the option to mount these HDs when I connect via the network to another computer? It seems like an intermittent problem ... is there something that can be done so that I'll always be given the option to mount a connected external HD when I connect via the network?
      Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Thank you,
    I've been working with Sharepoints for a while now and I can't get it to work. I have re-started and made certain that I do have file sharing turned on. Does it matter that the drive is formatted in FAT 32?
    Here are some pics of the drive I'm trying to share and the settings in Sharepoints. THEN, a pic of the disappointing results when I try and connect from another computer. Thanks for any help.

  • Trouble with 10. Network.

    I set up my AirPort Extreme with a 10. Network.  Why does my iPhone and iPads sometimes look for the network with a 192 address.

    Per chance did you configure both your iPhone and iPads to use a Static IP address that was assigned an address in the 192.x range?
    Settings > Wi-Fi > Select the info icon for your Wi-Fi network > Under IP ADDRESS note if DHCP, BootIP, or Static is selected.
    If DHCP is already selected, select Renew Lease to request a new IP address from the AirPort Extreme's DHCP service.

  • 4s has trouble with my home network

    My iPhone 4S has trouble connecting to my AirPort Extreme. The only way it connects is if I lay it directly on the extreme.

    Power the extreme off and wait a few minutes, the Power ON again.
    On the 4S reset networking settings.  You will have to re-enter your network's password, but it should be able to connect.
