Trouble with Pages 5

How do I get rid of Pages 5 after I downloaded Mavericks? (Maybe a huge mistake). I still have Pages 09 on my dock but every time I open a document it opens as Pages 5, which is NOT user friendly at all. I tried opening up my documents in Spotlight, but they still open as Pages 5. Many of the elements I used in Pages 09 are not there, such as yellow highlighting a sentence. Why did Apple mess with it?? Aaaaaaarrrgh!!!!

Either Trash Pages 5 or turn it into a zipped archive, in case you might need it again.
You can also try putting it inside a couple of nested folders.

Having trouble with page numbering in Pages

I moved a document from Word to Pages. Now the page numbering is outside any text box, footer, table, etc., and cannot be accessed for editing. I cannot click on it. I tried fooling around with page number functions in Pages, and it merely adds a second set of page numbers. I revealed the formatting and background information to no avail. It is as if the page numbers do not exist, except that they are showing up on screen. Has anyone ever had this problem? How did you resolve it?

This is a long-standing conversion issue, where Word page numbers sometimes turn into un-editable graphic objects in Pages. To get rid of them, do the following:
Arrange > Make Background Objects Selectable
Format > Advanced > Make Background Objects Selectable
Command-Drag a selection box from the margin diagonally across the page number object to select it
Press Delete
That usually does it. If you have a multi-section document, you may have to do it more than once.

Trouble with pages (no empty templates)

Hi there,
I would like to work with Pages in an efficient and sensible way. However, some important "features" are no longer existant.
Firstly, how can I display the font sitze and text properties in the icon bar at the top? This used to be standard (and is with other word processing software) but no longer is.
Secondly, why are there no templates any more? Not even a new template, or, in simpler words, an empty page. What happened to that?

Helps if you tell us which version of Pages '09 ie what you saw when you looked in About Pages.
Menu > View > Show Format Bar/Show Toolbar
What happens when you go:

Troubles with Pages-impossible to send a pdf doc from pages

Hi, I am having troubles in sending a pdf doc from pages to a pc (via email). It work fine with word doc but not pdf. When I open the email with the pdf doc I just received, the email is empty. What could I do? Please help, I really need pdf! Thanks.

I don't think so, because I can send a word doc but not a pdf?! And my gmail account has plenty of space... And it worked fine before I upated the new version of Ipad. I hope I can find a solution, otherwise I can't use Pages anymore. Any other apps equivalent to Pages?

Having trouble with page refresh after targeting a spry data set from external url

yep....with me there is always a but....
after the page loads from clicking on the button on index,
with row 10 active, it no longer loads correctly by itself.....I go
to the menu and refresh the page by loading the als.htm url fresh,

Anyone else having trouble with Pages freezing on iPad 2?

In just the last few days, Page documents are freezing. After I create a document it won't let me name it, file it with others, I don't see the little blue line telling me the document is being saved etc. I haven't lost anything but the program is not acting in a normal way. I used Pages daily.

I, too, had long waiting times. Here's what worked for me.
As I went through some of my Pages and Numbers documents, I got warnings that there were sync discrepancies (differing versions in iCloud and on my iPads and laptop). So, I removed everything from iCloud Drive using my laptop (saved to local folder). I let my iPads sync so they removed all the iCloud-based documents. On the laptop I went through and forced everything to the latest file format (latest Pages and Numbers on Yosemite) by re-saving, then copied everything back into iCloud Drive. My iPads both updated within seconds and everything now syncs quickly.
Don't know if eliminating sync discrepancies is the solution, but it seems to have worked in my case. Hope it might help others.

Have you updated Pages to 4.2 since you upgraded to Mountain Lion. Also, the iWork apps iin Mountain Lion seem very sensitve to permissions issues & it's a very good idea to use Disk Utility to repair permissions.

Sounds that you have some malware on your computer.
Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.

Trouble with pages not working

I have just re-uploaded my website and for some reason this time two of my pages fail to work. I contacted my web host and they suggested "I would advise that you look into adjusting the script for what you uploaded as it is conflicting with what is there now"
i have been using iweb 08 to build my site and have not had any problems before. The ONLY thing i have found when uploading is that this one file ( iWebMediaGrid.js ) will not load onto my server. Could this be the problem with why my pages won't load? if so how do i fix this?

Try uploading everything - the site folder and the index file. If you do this, then everything gets uploaded and nothing gets forgotten about. That is why when you publish to a folder you get these two files produced and you should upload them both, and NOT the contents. If you do this it alters your file structure and you will have problems as you have discovered.

...really slow downloads. up until now SAFARI has been great, but for the last few days things have been freezing up or taking unusually long to open a page or download. Any ideas? thanks.

Usually the type of behavior you describe points to a Network or Internet Provider problem.
Try Safari from another user account. If necessary, here is guidance from Apple about creating the account.
You can ignore step 7 in the article. Also, on the system preference>Accounts panel, click on "log-in" options. There, select "fast user switching". This allows you to go back and forth between user accounts via an icon in your Menu Bar at the top of the computer screen.
Log-on to the new account and start Safari. If Safari is stable in the new account, then your problem is specific to your regular user account. Otherwise, similar response means a system-wide problem, probably Network related.

Trouble with Pages

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion, Pages gives me an error when I try to save.

Did you install from a retail box version of Pages or did you buy from the Mac App Store (MAS)?
If a retial box version, you must be sure to click the Apple icon (top left), then Software Update. Is this what you did?

Trouble With E-Mail Notifications

I'm having some problems getting e-mails to my pager. I have two e-mails set up:

[email protected]
When I test the two e-mail addresses, I receive the e-mail. However, when an alert is encountered, email is only sent to the first e-mail. I deleted the first e-mail, but I still can't get the e-mail.
Is the a bug perhaps have trouble with ".page".
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

What operating system? What version of InDesign? What happens when you insert a page (and how are you choosing to insert a page)? Does it happen with just one file, or does also happen on a clean new file?
