Trouble with Parameter Option - Show Value or Description

First off we are on BI 4.1 SP01 Patch 6. I have a Crystal Reports 2013 report with a lot of optional parameters some of which are based on dynamic lists of values which I created using Business View Manager.
My hope would be that whatever values I select would be shown in the Prompt Panel on the left side of the screen.
Rather than displaying the value of "Limited Liability Company" for the Organization Type I get the code of "06".
That is the correct code and it works from a functional perspective, but I want to see the description. To get to this point in my Crystal Report I created a parameter based on a Dynamic List of Values created in Business View Manager called OrganizationType with the following settings...
That in turn creates something in Business View Manager called "OrganizationType - Prompt Group". If I edit my Organization Type paramter in Crystal Reports I see that it is now based on that OrganizationType - Prompt Group and not Organization Type LOV I had just selected. When I look at the OrganizationType - Prompt Group in Business View Manager the Show on (Viewer) Panel and Show Value or Description options are not what I set them to be in Crystal Reports.
My expectation when choosing the "Show Description" setting for the Show Value or Description option would cause the Description to be shown in the prompt panel. Is that correct? If so, then why isn't this setting sticking. If not, how do I do that?
I realize that I could create my LOVs based on just the Description rather than the ID and Description and filter on the Description rather than the ID, but I shouldn't have to. This should work shouldn't it? What I am doing wrong?

I now understand that the "Show Value or Description" option will have no impact on my situation.
As you can see in my screenshots I have the "Prompt With Description Only" option set to "True". Within Crystal Report I am seeing the Description as expected in the Parameters panel...
However, when I run the report from the BI Launchpad I see the code ("06") rather than the description ("Limited Liability Company")...
Is this a bug?

If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Source list, and then click Restore.

More trouble with timezones when storing value in TS WITH LTZ

Using Oracle 9i, JDK 1.4.2.
I have a script using the Jakarta Jelly framework to initialize my db. When I run the script, I want to set the current time in several "TIMESTAMP WITH LOCAL TIME ZONE" columns.
Before the time change, the following excerpt from my script was working fine.

The "Z" in the date/time format produces a 3-letter timezone abbreviation, like "PST" or "PDT".
Before the time change, I was getting "PST" from this, and the code was working fine. When the time change hit, I discovered that Oracle doesn't grok "PDT" (I found info on the internet about this, but I can't find it right now). I thought for a short time on this, and I changed "Z" to "z", which results in "-0700" instead of "PDT". This appeared to work fine. It didn't fail, at least.
However, what I discovered today is that Oracle gets confused by it. It recognizes that as a timezone offset, but it only "half" understands this. When I view the value in SQLDeveloper, it shows a time value 7 hours before the current time, instead of the correct current time as it used to.
I also tried hardcoding a date string, using "US/Pacific", and Oracle groks that, but of course, it doesn't know to use daylight savings time.

that makes sense because you are setting the sessionAttribute at the wrong time.. see you are passing the paramater from index to shop, so you really need to set the sessionAttribute in the index page so it is always available in the shop page.
hope that helps...you will always have this problem when refreshing because when you refresh the value from "customer" is not being passed again.....

Fact table with datetime measure showing #value error while browsing the cube

In Lightning different events with different timezones shows incorrect timezone description, mostly from Africa.

I discovered that the e-mail appilcation we are using (Thunderbird) has errors with timezones. For example:
In my calendar, I created 3 events (with these names: Budapest, Kiev, Monaco)
Then I set the Budapest event the Budapest (+1) timezone, for the Kiev event the timezone in Kiev (+2) and for Monaco the timezone in Monaco.
I saved everything, then in Thunderbird I opened these events one by one. The first was ok, but the Kiev event showd a timezone from Africa. The third event was ok too. Then I started opening again these three events, but now the first, the Budapest event shows the timezone from Africa.
Meanwhile if I opened these three events from Firefox, from under my Google Mail account, everything was ok. All timezones are fine.

Same here. My university has unfortunately subscribed to a Microsoft monoculture involving Exchange and Outlook. Our team is trying to use the new Outlook calendar scheduling function. Our PM has sent meeting invites for 3 mtgs, one of them: Thursday, 27 March 2008 1:00 PM-2:30 PM. Her Outlook interface is correctly set to GMT +10h Brisbane EST.
When I open the .ics attachment on my MacBook Pro in iCal, the meeting is created for Thursday, 27 March 2008 11:00 PM to Fri 28th 12:30 AM, that is, 10 hours in advance. It seems that at some stage the time difference GMT +10h is added twice. My iCal is set to Brisbane timezone too.
However, I have received other .ics files (I assume from non Outlook Exchange users) and they work fine and the times are displayed correctly. I am also subscribed to a number of shared calendars some of which are not iCal specific and I don't have timezone issues there either. So I'm wondering who's to blame? Microsoft for making Outlook issue non-standard ics files or Apple for not being able to read them properly?
Is there a fix?

Trouble with making slide show VCD or copying photos to CD

I have saved approximately 200 photos and made a copy of the photos on a cd. The problem is that some of the photos copied horizontally instead of in vertical format.....the photos where all properly showing on the PSE7 organizer...but about 13 copied in the wrong format??? Then I tried making a slide show with music....works fine in the PSE7 program, but when I went to output to VCD, nothing copied....except some files that don't contain the photos?

1. Reduce the image size 1000 x 750 if you are using high resolution images.
2. Use windows supported codec background music for slide show.

The inner for loop will retrieve the same values of v_qty for every iteration of outer for loop when it runs the following select statement:
select nvl(i.total_quantity,i.actual_quantity) into v_qty from sales_info;
and thus loses the previously computed values of v_qty and rem_qty
in the previous iteration of outer for loop whereas i want the inner for loop to iterate over it's previously computed values of v_qty and rem_qty but cant think of a workaround.

Trouble with putting tv shows on ipod

I downloaded 3 shows from itunes and they downloaded fine to itunes. I went to put it on my ipod and it is saying "Could not copy to ipod because you are not authorized to play this on your computer". Can anyone help me get the tv shows on my ipod?

Trouble with Reader Option Screens

I have Windows XP SP3 32bit. I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Reader with no errors. I can open pdf files, read them and even fill in forms. When I try to print, change preference or settings, I get strange looking DOS like screens with very large block letters which have strike marks through them. This is driving me absolutely bananas. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Strangest thing, another response to my question pointed out a German
version with the same problem. A corrupt Tahoma TTF font. I checked the
font first with my word processor with no problem. I uninstalled and
reinstalled it anyway and my Adobe Reader problem was fixed.

Having trouble with external HD showing up...

Anyone...HELP.
I have an external hard drive I use on my MacBook (I've used it for over a year and its fine). However, whenever the external HD is unplugged (usually by accident) I am not able to have it show up again.
I've turned everything off and back on again. Usually I turn the ex-hd off first, turn off comp, unplug & replug ex-hd USB, turn comp on, & turn ex-hd on (in that order) and still nothing shows up.
Has anyone had this problem? Does the order of which I turn on and off the ex-hd effect anything? I didn't think it did matter but obviously I am doing something wrong.
Help please.

"Usually I turn the ex-hd off first," You MUST unmount the firewire drive or usb first (Always). Then turn turn off the external firewire/usb power and wait a few seconds.
"turn off comp, unplug & replug ex-hd USB" Once unmount occurs then power down then disconnect cable Always from Mac first then the device whether it be firewire or usb.
Now how to reset all? Disconnect all cables from Mac and device. Remove battery from Macbook. Press and hold power button for 5 seconds. restart Mac book. Power on device. Connect cable to Mac first then to device.

SSRS report with tabular model – Create a dropdown report parameter with "None" option as the top value.

I would like to create SSRS single select dropdown list parameter (it is using MDX query in dataset) with "None" option at the top. Note: this parameter is dependent parameter and getting filtered based on the selection of another parameter.
How can I add hard-coded "None" text at the top of the parameter values? Can Union function help me to add this hard-coded value? The purpose is, when user selects None from the dropdown ignore the condition of the parameter from MDX query else
use the selected value in query condition.

In your scenario, you can achieve your requirement in report level other than in query. Add a Filter like:
Expression: =IIF(Parameters!Name.Value="None",1,Fields!Name.Value)
Operator:=
Value: =IIF(Parameters!Name.Value="None",1,Parameters!Name.Value)
In this case, report will ignore this parameter, and show all the records on the report when selecting “None” value. I have tested it on my local environment, the screenshots below are for you reference.

I am having trouble with my Mac Mini's ethernet connection. Defining a new network interface shows no ethernet adaptor. Reloading SL from DVD repaired. But SL update lost ethernet again. Will Lion Fix?

I am having trouble with my mac mini ethernet. It had been working for weeks after an update to SL 10.6.8.
Once it went out and i repaired it by defining a new connection from System Preferences ->Network->(left panel service, +).
But yesterday, after a power up. my ethernet was not working again. I tried this old trick to repair it, but the interface choices
listed for '+' a new service did not include Ethernet any more. And the Utilities->System Profiler->Ethernet Cards shows
no ethernet available.
As a last ditch effort i reloaded my original SL from DVD. (I think it was version 10.6.4 but i could be mistaken on the version).
The ethernet worked! But KeyNote wasn't going to work because apparently the version i purchased depends on 10.6.8.
So I upgraded again to SL 10.6.8 (Plus some other updates like AirPort which i don't use).
Now the Ethernet is not working again. I see the same symptoms as before with the Ethernet seeming not installed.
Is this a problem seen by others?
Would going to Lion fix the problem?
Could AirPort actually be the culprit and not SL?
If i stay with my original SL, would i need to repurchase a version of KeyNote for the older version of SL?

Have you reset the SMC?
Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord.
Wait fifteen seconds.
Attach the computer's power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
While you're at it, resetting the PRAM won't hurt anything and 'might' help is SMC reset didn't work (PRAM does some port control):
Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
Something else you might try .... you don't say how you're updating to 10.6.8, however, if you're using Software Update, you might try downloading the 10.6.8 combo update, which contains all updates to 10.6. Sometimes, Software Update doesn't work quite right, and installing the combo update fixes that. Download the update from Apple's download site at http://support.apple.com/downloads/ , using Disk Utility repair permissions, apply the combo update, then repair permissions again.

How do I enable flash and java on firefox23 as I have the latest versions installed yet the plugin page shows "disabled" with no option to enable

I have updated to Firefox 23 and it disabled my Java and Flash plugins. I then updated these to Flash 11.8.800.94 and Java to Version 7 Update 25. Now these are showing up on the plug in page but are showing "disabled" with no option to enable. How do I enable them to view content on the web.

However, when i closed and restarted the browser it returned back to the same settings...
