Trouble with Power Supply

 have a question, my mainboard is a KT3 Ultra-ARU and I just got a Antec TruePower 480W power supply and this power supply comes with a 3pin sensor and I connected this sensor to my mainboard but it does not show the speed, what can I do. I have also tried the PCAlert III and the same thing with that.
Thank you

    how do i handle it ??
    i got a power supply with 5V an 2,25A , i think its enough... or not??
    The Label on the bottum side from the camcorder tells me 5V 2A....
    Thanks 4 helping me :D

    oh ok i thought this is possible because in the main manual at the part when the display icons being explaind they show a full, half-full, emtpy- battery and a power connector icon. they call it "gleichstrommodus" sorry i have only the german manual. in english it should be co-corent flow mode or ac power mode.
    im looking for a way to make the cam work with power supply only. i dont want to charge or even use the battery because i film over few hours ago and for that i dont need it.
    my old dv cam works when the battery was plugged out with ac adapter only. thats very nice for me.
    whatever. if this is not possible i sell this cam and buy another one ;)

  • Need help with power supply & graphics card upgrades

    I have a HP Pavilion p6320y that I bought 8 months ago. AMD Phenom II x4820 Quad Core processor.   I play WoW and since the last big patch, have been suffering with low fps. I updated drivers and followed all the advice given to me by Blizz and finally figured out that my Nvidia GeForce 9100 (integrated graphics) isn't good enough anymore.
    I checked my computer and discovered that I have a 300w power supply (12V) and read on another post here that something stronger than 300w is needed to run a decent graphics card.
    Now for my questions:
    How much of a power supply can I upgrade to without hurting my computer, but will be enough to run a good card?
    What would be a good graphics card for this computer?
    I've been looking at the Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express graphics card and wonder if that will work on my computer.  Most of the nicer cards seem to be the PCI Express and I'm not sure if that will work.
    Any advice will be most helpful. I have some experience with the inner workings of my PC and would like to fix this myself instead of running to the closest computer shop and paying someone else to. Thanks!
    This question was solved.

    Well, you are starting out from a fairly low baseline with the integrated graphics. It will not cost much to have a substantial increase if all you want to do is run WoW without error messages. Yes, the 300w power supply is an issue and rules out any card that will require its own power (i.e. needs its own power cord like a hard drive) but there are several mid-grade cards that can run off bus power alone (i.e. just from the pci-e slot itself). Just taking a quick look at newegg.com I see the following:
    GeForce 9400 under $50
    Radeon HD 4650 under $50
    GeForce 9500GT a little over $50
    Any of these should get you where you want to be and not require a PS upgrade. The slot you have available is a PCI Express x16 slot so don't look at AGP cards; they will not work. If you want to install the card you mention you need to get a better PSU.

  • Need Help with power supply reccomendations for my graphics card

    hi
    i have a MSI GeForce GTX 780 Graphics card... i built my own system, i also got a rosewill rx750 power supply in it which i think is causing me problems, the computer works great until i get into games like titan fall and try and get into a game then it restarts the computer on its own.. has done this with a few games, but it works fine when surfing the net and so forth, i have read its to do with the power supply being week and also read my chosen power supply isnt that good... anyone got any recommendations for me that i should look at or am i looking in the wrong direction with whats wrong with my pc... any help would be great thanks

    yes the PSU is  the most important choice out there and corsair and seasonic are the best out there! (never buy cheap PSU's as like abvolt said a cheap one can easily kill your more expensive parts)
    Cheap PSU = made of the most cheap parts they could get "think cheap shanghai parts are used that may be of any quality good or awful as its just what they could get for the lowest price" (ever bought anything that was super cheap they break very easily)
    Quality PSU = the use of good quality well made parts and will have very good testing done on them to make sure they are stable and pass very tight regulations and conform to specs for 10-30 different factors each.
    a cheap low quality PSU I class as a paper weight as it will never go near a computer (maybe i would use one as a basic bench PSU for things i do not care if they die or just for testing a fan or something that rubbish dirty power is not really a major problem but silicon is not tolerant to dirty power and will kill parts)

  • PowerbookG4 Runs on Battery But Won't Recognize/Recharge with Power Supply

    My 15" 1.67gh Powerbook G4 will run just fine from battery power. The power supply does not charge the battery, though the amber light does turn on when it's connected. The screen power management display acts as if it's unplugged and doesn't recognize the plugged in power supply.
    I have another G$ so can recharge the battery, and the power supply cord works fine in that one. I have tried the 5 second reset method (with the power supply and battery out)
    This machine was used with an old battery that caused overheating during the summer to the point where the computer turned itself off.
    Is the internal power supply fried? Is there a fuse that can be replaced? Is there some kind of other software/firmware procedural fix that I can try?
    How much do these cost if I have to have it fixed? Is it worth doing for a computer this old? Can I just buy the part and try to install it? Is there a way to get it properly diagnosed without spending a ton of money?

    There are 4 components to the charging circuit: power adapter, DC-in card, battery, and logic board. Unfortunately there is no automated test to determine what is causing any charging issues, so you have to solve it by elimination.
    Since you have a working power adapter that will charge the battery on another PowerBook, that's good. And the system runs on battery power alone, so the battery sounds OK. That leaves either the DC-in card or the logic board as suspect. DC-in card would be the less expensive component to change, as they run $75-$95. A replacement logic board can run $300-$400. Those are used parts prices only without labor.
    You could take your system to an Apple store, or better yet call them first, to see if they are even still repairing Powerbooks. If yes, see if you can have it sent to the Apple depot for repair (assuming you're in the US). As long as the case isn't banged up, it should run around $350 to have whatever is wrong fixed. If the case is banged up, it can run into the $650 range as they'll replace the case too. Comes back with a 90 day warranty. If they do the repair in the store, the price goes up... a logic board replacement in the store is around $750, as I recall. If you go this route, ensure you have a hard drive backup too before sending it off.

  • Troubles with DHCP-supplied LDAP servers

    Hello,
    this feature does'nt work at all in my environment....
    I've a openldap server (RFC 2307) and a couple of macs (newest leopard) which are working quite nice together for a while now.
    It's a closed Network and want to get rid of the following commands, which I have to enter on each new mac:
    sudo dsconfigldap -x -e -v -s -a ldap.mydomain.de -n "MYLDAP"
    sudo dscl -q localhost -create /Search SearchPolicy dsAttrTypeStandard:CSPSearchPath
    sudo dscl -q localhost -merge /Search CSPSearchPath /LDAPv3/ldap.mydomain.de
    Instead i want to use the possibility to transmit the needed ldap-data using DHCP.
    Therefore I've added the following lines to my dhcpd.conf-Server
    option ldap-server code 95 = text;
    option ldap-server “ldaps://ldap.mydomain.de:636/dc=mydomain,dc=de”;
    Booting a mac I've got the following results:
    bo-dhcp-228:~ sysadm$ ipconfig getpacket en1
    op = BOOTREPLY
    htype = 1
    flags = 0
    hlen = 6
    hops = 0
    xid = 276885973
    secs = 0
    ciaddr = 10.0.0.228
    yiaddr = 10.0.0.228
    siaddr = 10.0.0.78
    giaddr = 0.0.0.0
    chaddr = 0:1c:b3:b0:e2:d5
    sname =
    file =
    options:
    Options count is 9
    dhcpmessagetype (uint8): ACK 0x5
    server_identifier (ip): 10.0.0.78
    lease_time (uint32): 0x5a0
    subnet_mask (ip): 255.255.255.0
    router (ip_mult): {10.0.0.1}
    domainnameserver (ip_mult): {10.0.0.9}
    domain_name (string): mydomain.de
    ldap_url (string): ldaps://ldap.mydomain.de:636/dc=mydomain,dc=de
    end (none):
    So far so good.
    But the ldap-server never got used.
    dscl localhost list /LDAPv3 on the mac-client shows emtpy results, and
    on the wire there is absolutely no traffic to ldap.mydomain.de.
    In fact the mac-client completely
    ignores the dhcp-provided settings. Of course I've enabled the
    Setting "Add DHCP-supplied LDAP servers to automatic search policies" on
    the client.
    I've tried to trace the problem on the client-side by doing
    sudo ipconfig setverbose 1
    touch /Library/Preferences/DirectoryService/.DSLogAtStart
    and looking into /Library/Logs/DirectoryService/DirectoryService.debug.log , /var/log/system.log
    and /var/log/com.apple.IPConfiguration.bootp but there is no hint why the client is not using the published ldap-settings.
    It must be some problem on the mac-side.
    Can anybody give a hint howto solve this problem?
    Thanks
    Christian

    I have not tried to set this up using the command line (as you described), but have in the past done it using "Server Manager" (on the server) and "Directory Access" on a Mac OS X 10.4.x client.
    When I did this I found that Macs after booting would not show a list of network login acocunts (as they should have) and typically trying to login using 'other' would fail. Also typically after a minute or two (and several attempts) it usually did work. AppleCare's suggested workaround at the time was to not use DHCP to advertise the OpenDirectory but to instead manually define it on the clients (using Directory Access).
    My belief as to why it did not work is that when a Mac boots, it enables its network interface, asks the DHCP server for an address (and the LDAP details) and then in theory should continue to boot and connect to the LDAP server. However I believe that the timing of these events is such that the Mac goes past the LDAP stage before it has finished the DHCP stage and as a result does not have the LDAP information in time. By manually defining the LDAP (OpenDirectory) server in Directory Access it is already known in advance and you avoid this problem.
    I have seen nothing to suggest that Leopard is any different in this area (although my recollection is that Panther - Mac OS X 10.3) did not have this problem.
    So I use a manually defined entry on all our computers, and I have incorporated this in to the standard disk image I use to build all the new computers.

  • Odd power supply fault callhome emails on Cisco 2232 FEXs?

    We recently enabled smtp callhome for our ucs pod a few days ago. Since then, we've received more than a dozen email bursts about power supply failures in each of the four Cisco Nexus 2232TP FEXs in our pod. In each case, we get a "Recovered" email within a minute or two, and we're not seeing power supply failure emails for any other devices within the UCS pod.

    If we were seeing this from just one fex, I'd suspect a hardware issue. If any of the other UCS devices (rackmount/blade servers, fabric interconnects, etc) reported similar issues, I'd suspect a power feed problem within the DC.
    But this has me baffled. If it helps, the UCS pod is running firmware 2.0.3c
    Cheers,

    Thanks Paul,
    It is known ( cosmetic ) issue with power supply model.

    The above is resolved in recent version of Nexus 5K switch software. New defect to port the fix to UCSM has been submitted today

    It will take a while to get published on web site.
    Even though they are cosmetic, I would suggest you open a TAC SR with UCSM, FEX tech support and above bug IDs so that we can track the resolution.

  • T61 - Power supply wire melting and smoking

    Do you guys have any problem with power supply. My wife just called me and she smelled something burning. And power supply wire is melting and smoking.
    And I called Lenovo tech and he told me that my machine is just 13-month old and he can't do anything at all.
    He just told me replace power supply. I used to have dell and IBM X41 and never have wire burning problem.
    Is this normal? If my wife found out little late and buring the carpet still he is going to say this machine is out of warrenty and Lenovo has 0% responsibility.
    I told him, I'm going to take picture and post to the internet and he told "I don't care".
    Wow what a nice man. He supposed say "Sorry" first then say your machine is out of warrenty...
    Anyway, I'll never going to buy Lenovo again.
    Thanks

  • Power Supply on e9150t

    Recently my computer started powering off and then back on.  It started periodically and now is every minute or two.  First I went in and gave it a thorough cleaning of dust and that doesn't work.  Based on what I am reading is it may be the power supply?  Does that make sense?  If so, how do I go about ordering/installing a new one?

    Hi,
    Try this procedure and see if you can isolate the issue. Trouble Shooting Power Supply Issues. Don’t skip any steps.
    If after going the above procedure and you determine that it's a power supply issue then I would recommend the CORSAIR CX500 PSU as a replacement.

    Hi Zipzap:
    I don't have one for sale, but I do have a couple of suggestions for you:
    1) Just enter the part number into a Google search box, the result returned by Google will be a 'product search' listing prices at various vendors.  Lowest price I saw when I did this a few moments ago was $178 (complete, with power supply!) at, of all places, Sears.
    2) Try eBay - it's a great place to find stuff like this.  Again, just enter the part number.
    If you happen to find one at a nice price that is located in Canada, let me know... I need to get a second one.
