Trouble with putting PSE action files on new computer with Windows 8

My laptop crashed and I had to get a new one. Reinstalled PSE 10 and cannot find where to put my preset action files. Previously, on Windows XP, I put files into a program data file under photo creations. I can't find a program data file or photo creation file. Can anyone help me?

You can drag your mouse to the left lower corner of the Desktop screen and when Start pops up, right click and choose Control Panel.
Then pick Appearance and Personalization and in the next screen to the right of where it says Folder Options, click on
Show Hidden Files and Folders.

If you still have your content on an old computer then you can copy it over from there (you will need to reauthorise that computer) - there are a number of methods that you could use e.g. home sharing, an external drive etc : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
Or you could copy it from your backup, or depending upon which country that you are in (and whether the content is still available in the store) then you might be able to re-download some/all of it : re-downloading.

I have just changed over from a computer that was 11 years old, running Windows 98, to a new computer running Windows XP. With my old computer I could easily download video clips, they would open and play as soon as the download had ended. Now I have to click on the download box and click on "Play". Also, when I wanted to keep a clip, I just right clicked and a menu appeared and I would then click on "Save as" or similar. Now there doesn't appear to be any way to save the clips. Apart from a faster and more powerful computer I feel I've gone backwards. Can anyone help?

Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

Hey Sierra, You can do just what you have stated. My question, what is your "other"? If it is over 1.5 GB you most likely have corrupt files. Doing a Restore to New, Factory restore should correct it. Just make sure you make a full backup of all information on your iPod to your computer before you restore, so you don't lose your stuff, contacts, videos, pictures, non-iTunes music, etc, use the cable and connect with your computer. Then, via cable, connect to your computer, run the Restore to new, don't use your backup. Treat this iPod as if it was your first one ever. When restore is done, set up and add what info you wish to install on this iPod. The music apps etc you purchased should be on your computer, if not you should be able to retrieve purchased apps and music from iTunes. Any music, videos, apps not purchased from iTunes will be lost to you if you do not save them to your computer or the cloud first. When your done, make a current Backup and you should good to go. and from the Menu Bar select Store...
From the Store menu, choose Authorize This Computer.

When prompted, enter your Apple ID and password, then click Authorize.

I have my serial number for a previous installation of PSE 8, but when I go to put it in on my new computer, there's an extra box.

I got my copy of PSE 8 with a tablet I bought a couple years ago. The computer I had installed it on died, so I bought a new computer. Only then did I realize I'd somehow lost the installation CD. I went on the mostly-dead computer and managed to recover my serial number that way. But when I go to put it in to the boxes to re-register on my new computer, there's a whole extra box. In other words, my serial number doesn't appear to be long enough to go into the provided boxes. What is going on?

You can't see the whole serial number that way. If you registered it, you can go to the main page of adobe.com and sign in or click where it says "welcome, < your name>", you should be able to find your serial number in the links there.

I would like to put Dreamweaver 8 on a new computer. There is no "deactivate" function and the technical support person I chatted with recommended I come here. Can I just use the serial number again? How can I deactive? Has anyone else run into this?

Need help with transferring DW files to new computer

I purchased a second computer - installed DW on new computer
and connected to server - but am having a problem getting the site
files installed correctely.
On comp#1, in the sidebar I can switch between local and
remote -- and there are arrows to upload or download files. On new
computer I don't see that. New computer has Vista, would that
change the look of the DW program?

go to old computer.
open dw.
dw menu-->site-->Manage Sites
select a site (in cs3, you can shift-click to select entire
list)
and press the export button.
repeat for all sites.
then move the .ste files AND all the "local site folders"
that contain the
site assets to the other computer.
double-click the .ste file, or use dw
menu->site->import
you will have to double-check these three places in each site
definition:
Local info:
Local site folder path
default image folder path
Site:
location of this site's "homepage"
-->IF anything on the path to the local files is different
on this computer.
Such as having a different Username.
