Trouble with reinstall of Win7 64 on a L505-ES5018

Toshiba Satellite L505-ES5018, Win 7 64:
Hard drive crased so I installed a new one and ordered the recovery disks for L500 series and installed. Some drivers are unsigned and WIndows Update nor the Windows Troubleshooter will work. Win Update says it is not running and I should restart my computer. I checked services and it is started and set to Automatic (Delayed Start). I changed this to Automatic and restarted but same issue. I reinstalled again with the same issues. Any thoughts?

The most recent Intel RST driver is what finally made everything work for me. It is not listed on this model's downloads page nor does it update from windows update. This is the link to the exact driver I installed. Let me know if it helps!

After I installed this driver, all of my certificate issues went away and Windows update began to work. Certain drivers still appeared to be unsigned, but deleting them and reinstalling them from this model's downloads page seemed to work fine.
If this doesn't work right off the bat, in my troubleshooting rhythem I decided to change the logical cluster size to 512 bytes using Acronis Disk Director right after the Toshiba recovery program finished and before I let it boot for the first time. This may not be necessary but when you have a customer that really wants her computer back, you will try everything to get it working the first time. Hope my post helps!

    Hello everybody. Please keep in mind that I'm not english, so I'll probably do some grammar errors.
    Here there's my problem:
    I decided to reinstall Mac OS X Lion, on my macbook pro 15" (late 2010). Everything worked well, I just wanted to clean everything and start over again.
    I started the computer from Lion Recovery HD, which is, as we all know, in a separate partition.
    I followed the instructions written in the documentation: I initialized the Hard Drive with a HFS+ file system from the utility disk, then, I clicked on "Reinstall Mac Os X".
    After choosing the right HD and writing the username and password for the mac app store, i got an error: my account is allowed only in the Italian store (I'm from Italy, but I'm temporarily in the USA. I also wrongly forgot my Snow Leopard DVD in Italy )
    Anyways, after clicking OK and writing ID and PWD again, the download of the OS finally starts (First problem solved?)
    After more then 15 hours downloading, I came home but it didn't change a lot: the computer was still on recovery hd (i think it restarted by itself?), the download was finished, but it didn't install the OS, nor I could boot from the main HD. If I try to click "Reinstall Mac Os X" again, it would ask for my id and pwd again, and start the 15 hours download another time, as nothing had happened.
    By the way, i checked the HD from the utility disk, and about 4 GB are used in the HD, while before the download I had initialized it, so I think Lion was downloaded there. I repeat, I can't startup from the main HD, since it's not available when I turn the computer on and press option.
    Sorry for the long message, but I tried to give you the most informations I could provide. If you need other informations, tell me.

  • Trouble with reinstaling Photoshop CS4

    Im sorry for my english! =)
    My licensing Photoshop will have some problem. Brashes and any manipulates will be so slow. My computer is not too strong, but is not reason.
    Many users who has power computer has same problem too. And i setup update CS4 11.0.2., but instaling with error.
    Then i read reinstaling photoshop. Ok, but and this i had problem uninstaling. I used Cleaner Tool from Adobe.  This tool leave root folder photoshop and divide photoshop a lot of little program, which not uninstalling. I remoove root folder by hand. Cleaning windows registry with CCleaner, which found a lot of objects in " not uninstalling" part.
    And then i try instling Photoshop, but setup freeze on 90%. This problem know everybody, who reinstalling photoshop . I khow this link http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/407/kb407428.html and done all solution, but it is not work.
    Then yesterday i follow this process in journal of events and i get description same a : Code 1042 Description Operacion  done and bla-bla-bla (i dont куьуьиук)
    But today i check yesterday event and saw next description: Not found description for event with code 1042 in source Msiinstaller. Perhaps, local computer has not needful data in windows registry or DLL files messages for display messages of remote computer. Try using key /AUXSOURCE= for getting this discription and etc....
    i get this events for fours codes: 1042 1035 11728 and 1040.. Hmm....

    Your C2Duo Mac with 4GB ram is more than sufficient to run both CS4 apps and Safari. Unless there's a problem with the ram itself, have Activity Monitor running when you launch both CS4 apps and Safari and see what the CPU is running at and how much ram is available. Then open a new Tab and try and see what happens in AM when the freezing occurs. Report back.

  • Trouble with reinstalling Mac OS X 10.4 software

    Hi.
    I am trying to reinstall my Mac OS X software (Tiger). I've inserted CD1. Step by step I've reached 3rd step- "Select a destination volume". And... no image appears. I restarted my laptop several different times and ways, trying to logout from Installer and login to Mac HD. Now when I turn on my laptop, it starts with Installer. And no choice to eject the Disk 1 or for any other options?! I am not very familiar with Macintosh products, but I have been a little disappointed for the last year using Mac. Every help will be very appreciated!

    Actually I went to Disk utilities. There my HD appears. I choose option erase volume. Then HD appeared in the Installing window as untitled HD. Now the installing process is running well. Hope it will finish up successfully.
    The tip for ejecting CD worked well. 10x!

  • Trouble with reinstalling OS X 10.6

    I decided to reinstall the operating system on my mac after numerous weird issues kept popping up. I was getting random application errors, could not run any updates, and my system would randomly lockup doing a variety of things, such as gaming, surfing the net, and playing music.
    I proceeded to boot off the cd, and start the install. Being new to Macs, I first did the overlay install without really realizing it. But after I accepted the license agreement, and selected the hard drive, and clicked install, I got an error message after about 10 minutes of it installing.
    A window comes up and says:
    "Install Failed
    Mac OS X could not be installed on your computer
    The installer could not copy the necessary support files.
    Click restart to restart your computer and try installing again."
    I went back several times to try again, and even deleted the partition, and recreated it. Every time, I get the same error. I'm starting to lean towards a possible hard drive problem, but just want to make sure I'm not missing anything obvious.
    Any help is appreciated.

    A few things you can try before calling AppleCare:
    1. Run the Apple Hardware Test in extended mode to see if you get any errors. If you do, make a note of them & tell the Apple support person you talk to what they are.
    2. If AHT finds no errors run Disk Utility from your grey system disc (it should be in the Utilities menu when you start up from the DVD) & choose the "Repair Disk" step for your internal HD. If there are any errors it can't fix, reformat the drive from the Partitions tab (choose a Volume Scheme from the popup, don't just erase the partition).
    3. Make sure you are using the right disc, for instance not a grey disc for another Mac or an older white retail Snow Leopard disc. Check the disc for faint scratches, smudges, etc.
    4. Make sure your Internet connection is working & stable, or disable it completely, during the install.

  • Trouble with reinstalling

    I have ran the hardware full diag on this system and it checks out OK (I have ran it multiple times)
    But when I try to setup OSX with the original DVD's it always fails at some point or another.
    It seams to mostly quit after the first disk and gets about 60% of the way thru installing iWork 2006 trial from disk 2 and then pops an error saying to retry.
    Also every once in awhile when I reboot I just get a command prompt after the gray screen.
    I am fairly new to Macs, so any help would be appricated.

    You can see if you're still covered, put your serial number in the "About Your Support Coverage" box at the main Apple Support Web page, it will tell you if you're still covered or not:

    There should be a hardware test option on the first install disk. Put the disk in the drive, restart and hold down on the "option" key (or "alt" key if you have a non-North American keyboard). When the Startup Manager appears, you should see your built-in hard drive, the Mac OS X installer and a hardware test option. Select the hardware test and click the right arrow to continue. Run the extended tests, maybe more than once. If you get any errors, you'll have to contact AppleCare Support or another Apple Authorized Service Provider to have your iBook serviced. If not, then the issue may not be a hardware problem. (But the hardware test is not always 100% accurate. If there's a problem that is intermittent, then it may not be detected right away.)

    I figured it out.  A week ago I had downloaded a screensaver from a website I trusted and that's when my problems started. I uninstalled it but that didn't help.  So, I reinstalled it then used an uninstall softtware app that cleanns more than the control panel does. Then I used a computer cleaner to be sure everything was wiped clean.  And it worked.  I downloded iTunes for the 7th time in 2 days and finally it worked!  And I lost nothing from my account.
    Maybe this info will help others.

    Close the Editor and then go to:
    C:\Program Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\11.0\Locale\en_us
    Delete the file:
    Mediadatabase.db3
    Then start the program again from the Editor shortcut or from the welcome screen by right-clicking and choosing “Run As Administrator”

    firefox has been working fine on my laptop running win7-64bit until the last firefox update and now when i close firefox and attempt to reopen it at a later time, i get the error message that ff is still running and i have to shut it down. i go to task mgr and have to close firefox *32.exe. why am i just now having trouble with this, i wonder? thank you in advance for any and all help with this matter. it's very annoying.

  • Trouble with 3rd party VST installs for Garageband, can't find instruments

    Hi,
    I am having trouble with Audio Units for Garageband when installing 3rd party software, VSTs, loops, instruments. I have more issues with Logic Pro. I am hoping that it is the same underlying issue and that I am just missing something. I have the manuals (not great for troubleshooting). I am confused with some installs use User Library and others use the Computer Library. I do go to the mfgs sites for updates. The installs sometimes work as standalones but I don't see ALL of the components of the software in say Garageband or Logic. Mostly, I am missing the "instruments" and "loops" that I want to access within the DAW. Some examples:
    • Here is some of the software I am talking about:  East West sample libraries (Play and Native Instruments); Vienna Symphonic librarires; Sylenth1 (just last night); Sample Tank 2 and Total Workstation 2 from IK Multimedia and others.
    • In GB I see the Audio Units for Vienna, Play, Sylenth, some of the IK Multimedia but NOT any instruments when I go to the "Sound Generator" -- I seem to be missing the instruments and loops. I see less AUs in Logic Pro. Some of these are VST instruments.
    • Can I just drag-drop samples to the library folders to fix this?
    • The plug-ins do not seem to work (though Sylenth1 worked for a single sound). When there is a standalone app (as in Sample Tank), I finally got the "sounds" to be reinstalled and loaded, those sounds/samples don't show up in any DAW.
    • When and if the sounds/loops/samples show up in GB's "Instruments" section will I be able to tell that they belong to that particular software or library?

    Found the answer myself, it was simple:
    • Select the Track
    • Show the Instrument (info area)
    • Click on Edit
    • Click on the "Sound Generator" pop up field.
    • At the bottom of the pop-up list, select from the Audio Units that you have installed. This is where you see "Sample Tank 2, Vienna Instruments..."
    • NEXT -- IMPORTANT:   CLICK ON THE PICTURE next to the Sound Generator pop-up field.The AU unit loads up, the interface pops up, you load up the instruments in this AU Unit. You do NOT see the sounds from the AU unit in the normal Apple instrument list.
    This was not intuitive but once you know it, fairly simple.
    Still, the devil is in the details -- more questions on the way.

    You can try removing app then reinstalling. If that doesn't work
    Try a Restart. 
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
     Resetting your settings
    You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.
    Resetting your device
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends this only if you are unable to restart it.
    Or if this doesn't work and nobody else on the blog doesn't have a better idea you can contact Apple.

    Hi. I'm having trouble with my Adobe CC teacher and student subscrition and the Adobe CC desktop application. On my Macbook, adobe CC desktop application doesn't recognize my adobe subscription, but on the Adobe web site page there is my account page and i see the FREE subscription and the Premium, correctly paid. I try to uninstall the Adobe CC desktop app and to logout of adobe cc folder, but when i reinstall the desktop app, it recognize the free subscription and not the Premium. Someone could help me, please?

  • I'm using Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended and am having trouble with it.

    I just reinstalled Photoshop CS5 Extended from my original disk because I was having trouble with it. I did do an uninstall before installing. Every time I quit Photoshop I get this message: "Could not save Preferences because the file is locked or you do not have the necessary access privileges. Use the ‘Get Info’ command in the Finder to unlock the file or change permissions on the file or enclosing folders." Can you tell me what to do to fix this? I went to get info and made changes to read and write, but it made no difference. Thanks for your help.

    Some folders are hidden in the Finder. Use the "Go to Folder" command for that.
    Go menu > Go to Folder, enter:
    /Users/YOURUSERNAME/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop CS5 Settings

    Try a test user to narrow down if it is system wide/ user specifc
    - go to system preferences> accounts> unlock padlock @ bottom> click plus sign
    - name it whatever you want> create user
    - log out> log into test
    - launch application
    -if works fine>to seek out support forums for particular 3rd party application
    - if same behaviour persists> reinstall application in normal user profile
