Trouble with school website, javascripting

Hello, is there any one of you who can tell me how to solve the problem I experianced with Javascripting in Safari?
The school's website we use for our students use java for several actions. One of them is to upload a file to it, so students can use it. I discovered that these actions can not be performed with my (ohh great) new iPad. This means i have to find another computer to help my students.
Perhaps the solutions is already built in the upcoming update but i am not sure of that.
Please help.

Javascript is not the same as Java. The two are completely different things.
The iPad Safari browser supports Javascript but not Java. There are no plans that I know of for the iPad to support Java in the future.
Note that there are Apps for the iPad which can be used to upload/download files to/from servers, for example, Goodreader can do this.

  • Trouble with newspaper websites

    I have been unable to open newspaper websites on my Macbook Pro for the last few weeks now.  Other sites open fine, just having trouble with the newspaper sites.  Very odd.  How can I fix this?

    www.stltoday.com
    www.dailyherald.com
    www.sj-r.com
    www.suntimes.com
    No error messages.  They try to open but never do.  I'm no Mac or computer expert, obviously, which is why I'm here, so please forgive my crude explanation, but whatever that "spinning wheel" on the right side of the tab is...yeah, it just keeps on spinning, site never opens; the blue bar in the address field never gets to the end.  Using Safari 5.1.7.

  • Safari trouble with Flash Websites

    Hi, I am having trouble using a particular
    Flash website online that I am developing
    Using Safari v. 2.0 on a Mac running Tiger 10.4.2
    I am able to access the homepage of this site
    http://www.sweetybomb.com
    but I am unable to load any of the buttons (about - music - etc.)
    I understand that this may be a Macromedia Flash issue, but
    the odd thing is that this site works fine in all other Browsers
    (Opera, Explorer, etc.)
    Every once in awhile, the site works (I can load content, use buttons)
    but 99% of the time, Safari stalls on the homepage which is odd
    because the file sizes of the Flash movies are low (at least in the opening part)
    Anyhow, just seeing if there are some Apple/Safari things that
    I could troubleshoot on that end of things
    Thank you

    I have talked with Apple several times
    via my Apple Care and they insist it's
    something on the Flash end of things
    Thanks for your response and if you
    have any advice I would be happy to
    hear it
    cheers

  • I have trouble with hotmail because javascript does not respond! How do I fix

    Whenever I use hotmail on firefox, my e-mail get hung up because java script does not respond. How do I fix this.

    This is the situation with Snow Leopard and existing iCloud accounts:
    You will be able to access email and calendars on the iCloud website at http://icloud.com provided your browser is reasonably up-to-date.
    You will not be able to sync contacts or bookmarks from a pre-Lion Mac.
    You will be able to enter the server settings for email manually in the Mail application and access your email.
    You will not be able to sync your calendars directly.
    Some people have been able to set up calendar syncing by using the method detailed here - this is an unsupported hack and may not be reliable, and may stop working at some future point.
    Address Book won't sync: this page has a convoluted hack to make it sync which has been reported as working (and as not working by others). I've not tried it.
    There are a couple of alternative syncing services you might like to consider, though they're not particularly cheap:
    Soho Organizer can sync Calendars and Contacts with iCloud on Leopard, Snow Leopard and Lion. A single user licence (multiple machines allowed) is $99.99.
    Fruux syncs Calendars, Tasks and Contacts beetween a wide variety of devices (not using the iCloud server) including Snow Leopard and above, Windows Outlook and Thunderbird, Linux Thunderbird, and iOS and Android devices - see their compatibility chart (click the blue 'i' for a caveat about Snow Leopard). It's free for one user, two shares, two devices; above that pricing starts at €4 per month.
    (I have no connection with these firms and have not tried Soho Organizer, though both have had good reports and I've found Fruux to work well.)

  • Having trouble with garmin website registering recent product

    I recently purchased a garmin product and while visiting the website and trying to register my product, it said it wasn't compatible with Firefox 5.0. I would like to know how to get the updated version of Firefox to register my Garmin product.

    Basically, the Garmin software that you installed on your PC needs an updated version of Garmin's Firefox plugin. Firefox 5.0 was just released 7 weeks ago, and it is the latest release version of Firefox. And Firefox 6 is due to be releases on 8 / 16.

    /* ~~ These are the columns for the layout. ~~
    1) Padding is only placed on the top and/or bottom of the divs. The elements within these divs have padding on their sides. This saves you from any "box model math". Keep in mind, if you add any side padding or border to the div itself, it will be added to the width you define to create the *total* width. You may also choose to remove the padding on the element in the div and place a second div within it with no width and the padding necessary for your design.
    2) No margin has been given to the columns since they are all floated. If you must add margin, avoid placing it on the side you're floating toward (for example: a right margin on a div set to float right). Many times, padding can be used instead. For divs where this rule must be broken, you should add a "display:inline" declaration to the div's rule to tame a bug where some versions of Internet Explorer double the margin.
    3) Since classes can be used multiple times in a document (and an element can also have multiple classes applied), the columns have been assigned class names instead of IDs. For example, two sidebar divs could be stacked if necessary. These can very easily be changed to IDs if that's your preference, as long as you'll only be using them once per document.
    4) If you prefer your nav on the right instead of the left, simply float these columns the opposite direction (all right instead of all left) and they'll render in reverse order. There's no need to move the divs around in the HTML source.

    Close the image tag at the end:
    <img... ...height:800;" />
    You need to go through your <ul> and <li> tags very, very carefully.  You have some mismatched elements (missing closing tags) in your huge list.
    Here:
    <p>
         <!-- end .content -->
         <!-- InstanceBeginEditable name="EditRegion4" --><!-- InstanceEndEditable -->
       <p> </p>
    You have missed a closing </p> tag
    These input elements need closing like this
    <input name="allcountry" value="ALLROMANIA" type="hidden" />
    You may have too many closing </div> tags at the end of your page.
    Check your site in the validator: http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.canonguy.net%2FKehilaLinktest %2F
    Fix the problems you can and then revalidate it to see how you are getting on.

  • I am having trouble with all websites that have the embedded Windows Media Player. If I go to a page with a Webcam that is using Windows Mwdia, the player does not play or even show up. Any ideas?

    With all my other browsers, thia is not an issue including Firefox 3.6. For example, this page http://www.liveduvalstreet.com/ will display fine in every browser except Firefox 4. Because of that issue, I reverrted back to 3.6 until I can find a fix. I have tested this page in Chrome, Maxthon 2 and 3, Internet explorer 8 and Firefox 3.6 with no issues at all. This is just an example site. All sites with the embedded player will not work.

    Thanks a million! Thatr did the trick. I had an older versiuon of the plug in installed as well.

  • Having trouble with different websites wanting different versions of flashplayer

    hulu.com wants one version of flash player and CBS wants another so i downloaded the achive 9 but it is not working on CBS. i do not know what to do i did see a page on adope about switching but cant find i tnow. [email address removed]

    There can be player detection issues on web site especially when we move from say version 10 to version 11.  This has happened before and we try to work closely with these sites to make sure they fix their detection. Would you let me know what version of Flash Player you have installed on what OS and browser you see these problems.  I'll check it out and contact the site if I can reproduce.

    Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
    This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

  • Trouble with getting website to work on the Internet

    I have been setting up Apple Server software and FileMaker Server on my G4 as n online database and I am trying to get it to serve the Apple test Homepage and a FileMaker site through to the Internet.
    I have been through the quick setups and have got the whole thing working using my IP addresses on my Intranet. So I now have a web site fully accessible on 10.0.0.7 and the FileMaker database too - but only on my Intranet. However, when I log on to my external IP address I just get the admin access to my router!
    I am sure it is something to do with ports. Everything seems to be on port 80 at the moment, but when I try different ports nothing works at all. Any idea what I am missing? It may even be somthing to do with the way the router is set up.
    any comments or general abuse would be much appreciated
    Tol

    It sounds like you're on a residential-type router, which probably means you're also on a residential ISP network.
    1) Make sure your ISP doesn't block port 80. It's not all that uncommon. If they're blocking port 80, these tests won't work anyway.
    2) All you need to worry about in your router setting is either NAT or Virtual Servers -- they both effectively do the same thing for this purpose. The Virtual Servers setting just helps you out more by typically giving you a list of services to choose from so you don't have to type out all the NAT details. You want a Virtual Server or NAT for port 80 to be directed to 10.0.0.7. That should be it. If you are also directing 10.0.0.7 back to 86.139.149.74 in the router, well, I'm not exactly sure what would happen with that. I mean, it sort of creates a loop (traffic from the outside world should go through your router to your server, but you're also telling your router that traffic to your server should go to the external interface on your router).
    Is your IP address static or dynamic? If it's dynamic, just check on it to make sure it's still the same -- it's possible that your ISP could be refreshing it often enough to make things difficult.
    If your FileMaker web server is running on port 80, then you're not running Apache, which is fine if that's what you want. FileMaker has another level of security settings to it though, so make sure that external clients are allowed to view your databases. I doubt this is the case though, but another thing to keep in mind.

  • I am really in trouble with AP Div-How do I fix it on the web?

    Hi,
    I am really in trouble with my website. I have added some pictures and text on top of Fireworks Image and have published it on the website.
    But the concern is, when I zoom in & zoom out, I can see the previous text on the screen and also the picture and texts I have added using Ap Div  tag are scattered moving all to the left when I zoom out. Can someone help me how to fix this in one particular place so that it doesn't move when I zoom in or zoom out!!! I am using Adobe Dreamweaver CS3, if this will help.
    Appreciate your sincere help on this.
    Thanks in advance.

    Frankly, there's a lot that is wrong with that page:
    1. Most of your content is in the images - this means that you will get very poor search engine ranking
    2. Your extensive use of absolute positioning for layout - this means that when you enlarge the text size in the browser, you will have overflow problems on the page (for example, the terrible problems at the bottom of the page)
    3. You have used tables for layout - this is because of your use of Fireworks to create the HTML
    Each of these problems is solvable but none of them are solvable easily without a redesign of the page. A web page should be built from the top down, stacking content containers (i.e., <div>, <section>, <article>, <aside>, etc.) vertically or floating them horizontally or both. These containers would be loaded with the text content of the page, and images would be used only for cosmetic appearance. Using CSS to style/locate the content will allow you to completely move away from tables for layout. Most typical pages can be created without the use of absolute positioning which should be used only for special purposes, not for layout of the page elements.

  • Trouble with the hosted website from a page viewer web part. (Sahrepoint 2010)

    Hi everyone,
    I am facing trouble with sharepoint and I would like some help.
    I use Sharepoint 2010 and I have included a page viewer page part in one the pages I 've created that hosts another website. Although most of the functionality of the hosted website is there, some functions of it don't work. These functions are apply buttons
    or downloading documents buttons. My guess is that the web part has to update dynamically and it should be independent from the Sharepoint page.
    Is there a way to do this? It is important that the website is hosted in the since at the same page I have s guide on how to use the hosted website.
    If this can't be done using a page viewer webpart I am open to other suggestions as well.
    Thanks in advance!
    Sakis

    Is it possible that the hosted website page is using HTML5 of other functionality that isn't supported by the IE-8 restriction in the SharePoint master page? We've run into that before, where the page wouldn't work in the page viewer. I also had problems
    where Chrome/Firefox wouldn't display a pager viewer when it crossed hosts/changed protocol.
    What I had to do was add some javascript/Jquery to pop up another window to view the page if I wasn't on IE, getting out of the restriction of the SharePoint master page. If I was in IE the page viewer webpart worked.  Not ideal, but maybe you could
    adapt - they could see your instructions on the page but work with the host page on another.
    <script type="text/javascript" src="/Javascript/JQuery/JQueryMin-1.8.2.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    $(document).ready(function() {
    var isIE = /*@cc_on!@*/false || document.documentMode;
    if(!isIE) {
    window.open('http://fmgblog/measure/email/dashboard.php');
    }); // end of document ready
    </script>

    You installed adware along with something else.
    You can either follow Apple's manual instructions for removing it, or use the free automated tool, AdwareMedic.
