Trouble with songs that have no albums

Hey,
I have a new video ipod, but I'm having a bit of trouble with the feature where, when you click on an artist with only one album, it goes directly to the list of songs in that album, instead of the list of the albums. The issue is with artists where I have one full labeled album and another song or two not in the album with the Album field left blank. When I click on the artist, it goes directly to the list of songs on the one album I have, making it impossible to access the song that isn't in the album. You can only get to it by going to the list of all the songs on the ipod. Is there anyway to fix this, or disable the feature that goes directly to the album tracks when you only have one album for an artist? Thanks!
Sorry if that's unclear, here's a sample of the problem (artist - album - song)
Leonard Cohen - Various Positions - Dance Me to the End of Love
Leonard Cohen - Various Positions - Coming Back To You
Leonard Cohen - Various Positions - The Law
Leonard Cohen - Various Positions - Night Comes On
Leonard Cohen - Various Positions - Hallelujah
Leonard Cohen - Various Positions - The Captain
Leonard Cohen - Various Positions - Hunter's Lullaby
Leonard Cohen - Various Positions - Heart With No Companion
Leonard Cohen - Various Positions - If It Be Your Will
Leonard Cohen - Hallelujah
That last Hallelujah (a different version than the album one) is the one that's impossible to find.

Thanks! It's not a neat solution, but until the apple guys fix this problem in the software I guess it's what I'll have to go with.

  • I am having trouble with songs that will not play completely through.

I am having trouble with songs that will not finish playback. The songs play about 75% of the way and then stop mid-song. This is true for my PC and songs transferred to my iPod. I have redownloaded (and repaid) for one song to see if that helps, which it did. But that can become expensive as I am starting to find an increasing amount of songs that are haaving this problem.

Take it to a genius bar. It's probably something with the magnets.

I'm not sure if they could tell you but you could try contacting Apple for assistance by going to https://expresslane.apple.com, then click iTunes>iTunes Store>Purchases, Billing & Redemption.  You will need your serial number, which you can find in Settings>General>About.

You can only suspend service for 3 months at a time (with or without payment) and only twice a year.

    Dottie,
If you want to upgrade the quality of a song in your library, you have to delete the library copy and download the matched copy.
Once it is downloaded, it will stay in your library even you don't renew Match.

No.  Your iPod is designed to sync with one computer/iTunes library at a time. If you try to sync it with a new computer/iTunes library, the contents currently on the iPod will be erased and replaced with content from the new library.  So you'll want to copy what is currently on the iPod over to your new iTunes library first before syncing it.

Here's how iTunes works.  You add a file to iTunes. iTunes makes a note of where that file is located, gets information from it about artist, etc, and writes the information to its library file.  iTunes doesn't look at that file again until you play it.  It knows where to find it when it needs it.  However, sometimes things happen so the file is no longer where iTunes expects it to be.  In many cases this is because the user has renamed  a file or folder in the file's pathway, or moved the file.  In extreme cases it can happen because a hard drive is dying.
When iTunes invites you to find the file, it is asking you to do exactly that.  If you renamed the file you need to remember what you called it and where you put it and point to it to rebuild the link.  Sometimes if people move all their files to  different drive you need to point to one and iTunes may be able to find others given that information and assumptions as to where the others should be located relative to that.
It is also possible files have gone missing.  In that case you need to restore them from their original source  or a backup you make regularly of your computer knowing that some day it is 100% guaranteed your drive will fail and you will be very happy you have a copy of everything on another drive.

  • Trouble with songs

I have a lot of songs that have an exclamation point !- this, and when I click on the song to play it, it says cannot findit or whaere it came from, how do I grt rid of these and also is there an mp3 to wav and wav to mp3 and others is their a converter you can d/load or buy.
    Thanks jbonemich

Do you want to get rid of the "!"s or the actual songs? Unfortunately, I don't know of an easy way to re-find your lost songs, except to individually browse to the location of the song and tell iTunes where to find it now. If you just want to remove all of the "!" songs from your library--you can try using a script written by a forum member Robert Jacobson:
    http://home.comcast.net/~teridon73/itunesscripts/#itunesremoveduplicates
    Look for itunesremovenot found.
Here are some wav to mp3 converters:
    http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/collection/collid,1244-order,1-c,downloads/file s.html?CMP=KNC-SEM&HBXPK=pcw01-DWNLD-MP3+[convertwav+tomp3]&HBXOU=50&tk=pcw01-DWNLD-FONTS
I would not recommend converting mp3 files to wav files because mp3 is a lossy format (during compression elements of the original file have been removed) and wav is a lossless format (as close to identical to the original file as possible.) If you want wav files (they're huge by the way) it's best to work with the original source.
You can convert wav files to mp3 files because you're taking an uncompressed file and compressing it.

  • Can't play songs that have a "old" account name?

i have a number of songs that have different account names.... some have my user name and then some have my user name plus "@.mac.com" at the end of the name... the ones without the @mac.com will not play? any ideas?

I'd suggest you start a new topic with your issue (use the "Post a new topic" link at the top of each main topic page). It's generally better to ask a question as a new topic rather than as a reply in someone else's thread. It's more courteous to the original poster, and is more likely to get your question the attention it deserves.
    Meanwhile, this may help:

You can view tracks in a given format by selecting to show the Kind column. If you mean you want to determine which specific MP3 tracks you have that were converted by iTunes as opposed to being imported in MP3 format, Get Info on a track and look at the "encoded with" field.

You copy them from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer.
The iphone is not a backup/storage device.

Will iTunes match match songs that have been downloaded using a different audible account?

    Hey there Chriskir,
It sounds like you would like to delete all the songs from your iPad but still be able to access them in iTunes Match. You can delete all the songs from the Music section of your Usage in Settings by swiping your music left:
