Trouble with streaming audio on firefox 4 - mac intel 10.6 with quictime plug-in 7.6?

recently having trouble playing streaming audio from these sites:
1. merriam webster pronunciation popup link:

The following mp3 link/streams are a gamble, b/c they're often buggy in FF4 yet they always work great in safari:

I tested my quicktime plug-in on the mozilla support plug-in page and I can play the film trailers at the test link provided.

This is a follow up on the first question. I went out to the issuu website to see if it was a problem only with the document posted by me. Answer - No. Every document opened to full screen showed the same behavior. The document opens, but the full-page view stays up for only a second or two and then closes leaving you back at the referral page.

• Problem with streaming audio

I wasn't sure if this is a problem with Safari, iTunes, or OS X, so rather than post the question in all three of those forums I decided to post the question here.
I can't seem to get streaming audio to open and play when I click on their appropriate links in Safari. I tried several different links through a few different sites, but when I click on a "Play" or "Listen Now" link for an MP3 stream, a Safari download window opens and that's it -- no stream.
I solved the problem by copying the link, going to iTunes, and choosing "Open Stream" from the "Advanced" menu, and the stream played fine, but I would hate to have to do that every time I want to sample an audio stream.
Anyone know why it wouldn't work when I clicked on the direct link?
Thanks.

Nevermind. Noob figured out what he was doing wrong.
See Safari "Preferences", "Open 'safe' files after downloading".

• "Reverb" with Streaming Audio

I have a brand-new iMac (OS X 10.5.4). It was fine for about three weeks, but now, any streaming audio from radio stations--either through iTunes or RealAudio--has what sounds like reverb. The first day I noticed it, I thought that the station (which I've listened to for years) was doing a live broadcast that day, and they were all in a concert hall.
I notice it especially when there's a DJ or some other voice. It's not as noticeable with music.
I've checked every setting I can find to try to fix it. Can someone help?
P.S. I have external speakers, and it occurs with the speakers plugged in and with the speakers built into the iMac.
Thanks

I've no idea how streaming audio could have that effect. And if for some strange reason it should have that effect then surely your application would be notified of that error (throwing an exception or returning false or whatever).
Usually when I find these kind of strange "reasons" they are much more likely to be co-incidents. I can remember some cases where "only when I sit in this corner of the room then the web-application doesn't work" ... and after some inquiry add "oh, and did I mention that the computer I use there is an Apple ][?". That kind of thing ...
Try searching for other reasons would be my suggestion.

• I want to stream audio from my mac mini to my iphone. Possible?

I have an early 2011 Mac Mini and an iPhone 5. I want to stream all audio from the mini to the iPhione as if the iPhone was a set of headphones plugged into the audio out jack. I do not want to be limited to iTunes. For example, I want the audio from Netflix playing in Chrome, or you tube videos. Basically turning the iPhone into wireless headphones.
I downloaded Airfoil to attempt this but my iPhone never shows up anywhere. On the iPhone, no source shows up. This is wifi on and bluetooth paired for good measure.
Any other ideas?

Ok, thanks for letting me know
Though I find it a bit misleading to say you can stream what you want to any device around the house.. Why would I want to sit in another room playing music in another, I can't exactly carry my mac around the house.
If you don't want to store loads of music or films on your phone or ipad that couldn't store all what I've got on my mac I'd say that would be the most useful feature, so you can play it on another device.
I live and work in a bar and sometimes DJ or just like to just pump music round the bar without messing about taking stuff on and off my ipad.
There just seems to be a lot of needless limitations, like you can't even get all the content you would watch ether... When you can get everything on a laptop and plug it into a TV and watch what you want and have a 500 to 1tb hard drive on it.
I really like the idea's their coming up with but their not quite there yet.
I often wonder why they just don't do a Full HD TV with a mac inside it and doubles up as a stereo and you can just stream everything from it.
Maybe in the future.
Cheers

• Any good websites with SharePoint on a Firefox Mac problems

I am trying to get SharePoint to work on my MAc with Firefox 3.6.6, and I am of course encounterintg heaps of problems. I am establishing the SharePoint system via a PC with Explorer, which of course works fine:-)
I would like to achieve enough functionality through Firefox in Sharepoint, but many features are disabled and I am looking for a site where these issues are adressed!

PhoneTop.com, they won numerous awards from Cisco IP telephony users group. Very attractively priced as well. With PhoneTop Messenger you can do:
Text messages to phones and email groups
Audio paging to phone groups
Push surveys and Amber alerts
Soon you will be able to push alerts issues by National Weather Service -- pushed to phone groups...
PhoneTop Alers pushes out EAS alerts to phone and email groups -- EAS stands for US Emergency Alerts System, which uses FM/AM radio to broadcast emergency notifications to general public based on geographic areas.
PhoneTop K-12 allows teachers to take attendance on IP phones.

• Having problems with streaming audio

Please Help,
I'm Trying to add audio to my site. I've gotten it so that it works with Internet Explorer. It has to work so that there is music on the front page slide show and the galleries. It now works great on IE. However on both Firefox and Safari it works on the slide show but not the Gallery. My code is as follows...In The CSS Section (I think the problem might be here).

#my_music {display: none;}
.homepage #my_music {display: block;}

or

.gallery_XXXXXX #my_music {display: block;}

And I have this code placed in my footer:

<div id ="my_music"><OBJECT ID="MediaPlayer1" CLASSID="CLSID:22d6f312-b0f6-11d0-94ab-0080c74c7e95" CODEBASE="http://activex.microsoft.com/activex/controls/mplayer/en/nsmp2inf.cab# Version=5,1,52,701" STANDBY="Loading Microsoft Windows® Media Player components..." TYPE="application/x-oleobject" width="280" height="46">
<param name="fileName" value="http://www.homelesshh.com/pipmusic.m3u">
<param name="animationatStart" value="true">
<param name="transparentatStart" value="true">
<param name="autoStart" value="true">
<param name="showControls" value="true">
<param name="Volume" value="-300">
<embed type="application/x-mplayer2" pluginspage="http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/MediaPlayer/" src="http://www.homelesshh.com/pipmusic.m3u" name="MediaPlayer1" width=280 height=46 autostart=1 showcontrols=1 volume=-300>
</OBJECT>
</div>

Please Help me with this

That is because you have #my_music {display: none;}
Firefox doesn't play media files if that content is hidden via display:none.
If you want to hide the player then use visibility:hidden
If you want visitors to be able to stop the music (I prefer that) then use {display: block;} there as well.

#my_music {visibility: hidden;} or #my_music {display: block;}
.homepage #my_music {display: block;}

• SBH50 issue with streaming audio (sec white noise)

After some test, with 2 device, and after having resetted the SBH50 as suggested in another thread related to stutter audio, i realize that the issue comes when "multipoint" in sbh50 is activated.
i did some exercise:
- no multipoint activated (only one device: sgs3) music streaming from sgs to sbh works perfectly.
- multipoint acivated
second device not connected: as soon as multipoint is activated sbh starts being disturbed by "white noise" for 1 second and it happens really often, more times during a single song
second device connected: same situation as point 1
i solved not using multipoint.. that is not the right solution
hope for a solution, i got still 20 days before time limit for give it back with no fee, and i wonder to understand if i should buy a BT clip that cost less considering at this point the added values is the little scrren (nice) and nfc (nice but.. after the first pairing i do not need it anymore)
thank you for your support

does this silence in suppport means that there is no solution ?

• I am having trouble with replacing my old Firefox version 3.6.3 with the new 9.0 version on my Macbook. I have it downloaded as a dmg file, but I keep getting a message that the opertion cannot be completed because the item Firefox is in use...HELP!

After having the issue with my photos being blocked on Facebook, I was told I needed to upgrade to the newest version of Firefox and that the version I am currently using (3.6.3) is no longer supported with security updates. I have tried to follow the steps in the upgrade process through Firefox itself, but have been unable to do it...I would love step by step instructions to walk me through it as I don't know what I am doing wrong.'''bold text'''

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop
*Firefox 9.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
*Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
*Install the new version that you have downloaded
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data if you uninstall and (re)install Firefox.

• Is there a way to send audio from my mac to my iphone that i plug into a speaker dock?

I would like to watch a movie on my MacBook Air but would like to send the audio to my iphone to plug into my speakers so i can have a sort of surround sound system? help me please.
thanks,
spenserfromle mars

You can copy the pages files on your Mac into the file sharing section of iTunes. Then sync your iPad. The files will be copied to your iPad. There is a link to the iPad manual in the bookmarks of safari on your iPad. Download and view the manual especially the section on sharing with iTunes.

• HP Smart web printing is very useful web printing extension which is not compatible with any version of firefox till now but compatible with Internet Explorer any version. So Please do correction. Thanks

[There is a link below from where software can be downloaded and after installing this you will see that it is not compatible with any version of Mozilla Firefox of any Window version (7, XP).]
[http://ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software10/COL20395/dj-56929-3/HP_Smart_Web_Printing_v4.6.exe

It is up to HP to make that program compatible with Firefox.
That application last worked in Firefox 3.5, but HP was always very lax in updating it for a new version of Firefox. Usually they didn't bother to update it until like halfway through the "run" of a particular Firefox version. It worked for like 6 months and then a new version of Firefox was released, and it didn't work for like 6 months until HP got around to fixing it - then the cycle repeated.

• Problems with Camino and Safari browers on sites streaming audio and video.

The Camino browser (latest update) will not allow me to type anything if I am listening to a site with streaming audio or video. As soon as I start typing, I get white patches all over the place. The only solution was to use Safari for listening and do the typing on Camino. Now, Safari freezes on every single site that has any streaming. The Safari version is 3.03, and it was working fine a few days ago. Any ideas?

Hi,
Try troubleshooting the Safari .plist file. Quit Safari.
Open a Finder window. Select your Home Folder in the Sidebar on the left. It has a small house icon. Then open the Library folder then the Preferences folder.
Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop. Relaunch Safari. Try a .flv file. If it downloads the file as it should then move the .plist file to the Trash, otherwise move it back to the Preferences folder.
If that didn't help, back to the Finder window, Home folder, Library / Safari. Move the Downloads.plist file from the Safari folder to the Trash. Restart Safari. Try again.
And check Safari / Preferences - Extensions. Could be an Extension causing a conflict. If you have any installed, turn that off, relaunch Safari, try again.

• How can I stream Pandora from my Mac to Airport Express?

How can I stream Pandora radio from my Mac to Airport Express?

To stream audio from your Mac you need an app such as Airfoil by Rogue Amoeba Software.
You can also stream Pandora directly to speakers connected to your AirPort Express with the Pandora Radio app on your iOS device:

• Audio output from Mac mini 2009

I have a 2009 Mac mini with mini dvi and mini display port outputs. Just bought an hdmi tv to use as the display. I understand audio is not supported out of the mini DVI, but what about the mini display port? I was thinking of using a mini display port to hdmi cable. Trying to avoid an additional cable for audio.

There are two 2009 Mac mini models, Early 2009 and Late 2009. I can tell you for sure that the Early '09 Mac mini does not have integrated audio from the mini-DIsplayPort. It was my understanding that the Late '09 Mac minis built in 2009 also did not have integrated audio, but those made in early 2010 did. The only way to know for sure would be to test it. Apple reports that some m-DP adapters are not adhering to the VESA standard and even Macs with integrated audio in the m-DP do not with these poorly made adapters. Apple is only recommending the Moshi and Griffin adapters.
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3065
If your mini does not have integrated audio you can get a cool adapter that will solve that issue from Monoprice;

• Streaming Audio using JMF

I am trying to create a application that uses streaming audio and would be an internet radio with a server that will stream songs and a client that can listen to the stream. How can I stream audio, specifically mp3 files, using the JMF?

I am in a similar project.
I found JMF does not provide enough support for stream.
I can't split a stream into some packets and transfer them to another peer.
