Trouble with the brush tool and shortcut keys on a Mac

If I select the brush tool and use it on an image, then go to use shortcut keys like to make the brush bigger, or smaller, to zoom in/out, or change the colour for the mask etc, it won't work. I need to select another tool then go back to the brush tool to make the shortcuts work again. After working for a bit again the shortcuts won't work. Has anyone got any idea on how to fix this?
I am on a Mac.

What have you done for general trouble-shooting so far? (restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved might be of special interest)

In Adobe Flash CS6, I have a blue box appearing around lines drawn with the line tool (and other tools like brush etc). Whenever I try to use a tool, a blue box appears around the line and I have to double click it to manipulate it, which opens just that line in a semi burred screen where all the other objects are semi-grey in the background. I can manipulate this line in this screen but nothing else at that time which I could do about 5 minutes ago. For exampe, I no longer can join up 2 lines drawn by the line tool together. For some reason this started randomly (probably due to a accidental shortcut combination) and I just can't put it back to what it used to be. I have inserted a video hopefully showing what I mean. Any help would be appreciated.

Why is Photoshop CS6 extremely slow with the brush tool using Wacom pen?

Could my wacom tablet be the issue? The psd processor spins not stop until I pick up the wacom mouse and click on an adjacent layer then back to the layer I was working on. Then the wacom pen work with the brush tool. This seems to happen when every time I pick up the pen and go back to the brush tool.

First, sorry it took so long to reply. Have been a bit swamped. What I mean by the psd processor, is the balls that rotate kind of like the SBDO when the app is executing a paint stroke. So I tried your suggestion, mad a new file 7w x 5d at 72pi, set the brush to 25px at 100% hardness and made a stroke with the wacom pen. It worked fine. The issue is working in large files say around letter size at 300dpi or large format graphics for trade shows at 150dpi. These files can range anywhere from 6ft x 8ft high to 16ft w x 10 ft h for an example. So painting in a channel mask or retouching using the brush tool in airbrush mode is painfully slow. I've found that while this little psd icon is spinning, if I take the wacom mouse, click on an adjacent layer then go back to the layer I was working on and resume with the airbrush, the problem subsides. It seems this spinning thing happens when I initially start using the brush on a layer or layer mask. Do you get what I'm trying to explain?

Argh - once again, I find my solution right after posting this. Left out one modification to the SWIG script, now it runs in 29 seconds vs C 16 seconds, I can live with that.

How can I draw using the Brush tool and a touch screen?

I need to be able to use the touch screen on my Lenovo Yoga (running Windows 8) to draw using the Brush tool in Photoshop CS6. I'm able to do that in other programs, including Microsoft OneNote and Paint. For some reason, Photoshop will only interpret touching and dragging on the screen as an attempt to pan or scroll, even when the Brush tool is selected. I bought Photoshop - and it isn't cheap - specifically in order to draw using the touch screen, which I need to be able to do for my job. Is there some driver I can download to fix this problem, or some obscure setting I can change?
I would also like to note that Adobe's technical support line exhibits a degree of infuriating unreachability equalled only by the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles. When I called to ask for help with this problem, I was told the expected wait time was between 10 and 14 minutes. After waiting for 50 minutes, I gave up in disgust. Adobe's products are powerful, but what passes for customer service is an utter disgrace.

There's gotta be a way but I just use gimp for touch drawing, save it off as a png, edit in ps or ai.

Has anyone had any trouble with the Move tool in Photoshop (v14.2.1)? I'm getting a dimmed bounding box akin to the transform bounding box, but this one won't let me apply or escape.

Having trouble suddenly with the Move tool creating a bounding box that wont let me release it by any means. It remains there no matter what, and now I'm having trouble using the Paste Into command.

Are you trying to move a background layer by any chance or a layer that is partially locked?? If you have show bounding checked in the option bar you should see the bounding box.

Need help with the brush tool.

I just got Illustrator yesterday, and I'm trying to ink a sketch. So I open the file of the sketch, Save it as an adobe Illustrator document, then I create a new layer, then when I go to trace the sketch I get a symbol saying I cant use the brush tool. How do I fix this? Thanks in advance.

Have you actually selected a brush stroke from the Brushes palette? Brusches are differnt from normal line strokes, the latter of which you can create with the Pencil tool...

CS5: Problem with the brush tool

Hi there,
I have a problem with the brush in CS5.
My system:
Win 7 Home Premium
ATI Graphics Card (Radeon HD 5770)
When I use the "Alt" key and right mouse button to change the size or the "hardness" of the current brush there is no more the red color (inside the brush) indicating the "hardness" (or the size).
I already updated the driver of my graphics card and checked the preferences (disabling and enabling OpenGL).
There were no other modifications to my system (despite Windows Updates and the Update to Camera Raw 6.4).
Any hints?

Thanks for your answer. I thought that I have used Photoshop (and the brush resize mouse command) after installing the 11.3 version of the catalyst driver. But it seems I was wrong. I will downgrade now to 11.2.

How do I fill color into an object drawn with the brush tool?

I'm watching a tutorial to learn more, and one think I still don't know is how to fill something with color that is drawn out via the brush tool. Say I draw a black circle and want to fill the color to green. I'm not talking about Live Paint were you select an object. I see in the tutorial the guys selects some tool but I can't see what it is.

You can fill any closed path by simply setting its fill color in the color palette... Paths can be smoothed with teh smooth tool. Please refer to the online help for specifics. Just watching tutorials doesn't necessarily teach you everything....

Is there a way to move a line drawn with the brush tool

I have created a document in Photoshop CC. I drew a number of line using the brush tool from the left tool bar. One of the lines needs to be nudged slightly. I cannot find a way to select the line to nudge it. How do I do this?

Assuming the stroke is separated from the others cleanly, you can select around it (e.g., with the Rectangular Marquee Tool or the Polygonal Lasso Tool), then just drag the pixels to where you want them.
Note that if you're working on the Background it will fill the space left behind with the color from the background color swatch in the Tools panel.

I try to use the brush tool and paint white but the only color working is grey! I got a warning message about graphics hardware, but everything seems to be fine with the graphics. What is wrong?

The message is referring to 3D features which are not supported by cards with less than 512 MB of vRam.
Try Restore Preferences:
Windows - CTRL-SHIFT-ALT immediately after you double-click the PS icon.
Macintosh - CMD-SHIFT-OPTION immediately after you double-click the PS icon.

Also have a heck of a time cropping, will not let me select a crop, are there glitches I'm not aware of???

Troubles with the front camera and memory/cash

Hi, guys. I need your help. I was update my phone SE LWW to Android 4.0 one month ago. After that I have only two troubles:
1. I can't choose front camera at the camera app. Only video mode or photo.
2. I have troubles with operating memory. Once a week I turn off my device and unmount battery. After that I mount it back and turn on the phone and the memory is on very good level. But during the week it grow up more and more. For example, on Monday after this operation I have 54% busy, but on Fraday of Satuday it's usually 89-95%! And I try to clear it by GO Task Manager and I can't. I receive the message "It's a best status of device". It's awful/ Pls, help me fix this trouble.

1. After you have installed Android 4.0 you can find the front camera under the selection of the different photo mode's, such as Normal etc.
2. It's a wise thing your doing, turning off and on the phone. I'd recommend you to do it more often then once a week though for optimized user experience and "flow" in the phone's menus.

I am having trouble using the clone tool and eraser tool.

I am not able to see my brush get bigger as I increase the size. Once I clone an area, it selects what I want to clone, but it won't paste it on the photo. I cannot also use my eraser tool. It does not show the line that usually is shown in white before it erases the area. I am working on a background copy.

Suggest that you reset all tools to default.
Look for this box icon with lines in it on a tool's option bar. This is for PSE v. 12 and perhaps for v.11 (I'm not certain about 11)
For earlier versions of PSE, look for a little arrow, top left, on the option bar
