Trouble with Titles over Photos

I am having issues placing titles over the photos in my movie. I can create the titles and preview the title over the photo. When I click and drag the title icon to the timeline to place over the photo the title disappears. I have made sure that the duration of the title is not longer than the photo's duration.

Are you sure that you are dragging the "T" (beside the type of title you want) over the beginning of the clip or at least to a point where you have split the clip?
Also, do you see a little green circle with the + sign in it where you are attempting to drop it? If not, you may be trying to drop it after a transition and you need to place the title there first then add the transition.

Is anyone using iPhoto having a problem with the slide show using shatter where it does not let you put a title over photo? It use to work but it no longer lets you place a title over the opening photo.

Is your signature still current?(iPhoto '08, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)) I can confirm this for iPhoto '11; Shatter will only show the text slide title between the slides. Ken Burns and Classic theme can still be set to overlay the caption and title directly over the slides.

You don't see them in iTunes. In theory your computer should see the device as a camera and you should be able to transfer the photos in the same way as if you'd connected a 'proper' camera to your computer (this only applies to photos taken with the device or saved from emails/websites etc, it doesn't apply to photos that were synced from your computer). Printing photos with titles/burning photos with titles to CD

I have taken photos that show hand positions for particular physical treatments and wish to print them with their titles so that I can remember what is what when I look at the photos in my notebook. Likewise, I would like to burn the photos WITH THEIR TITLES to CD so that I can share them with my classmates and have the photos make sense. Is there anyway to do this with iPhoto?

Burning with Titles is easy: File -> Export. In the resulting dialogue choose Use Title under the Name panel. Export the files to a folder on the desktop, then burn that folder. This is certainly the case with v6, it may also work with 5.
Captions are more difficult. You cannot add text to a Pic using iPhoto, but you could create a document in Pages and very easily add captions to the Photographs there. Setting other apps as external editor would allow using PS or PE to add text to the pics.

Trouble with Titles - Help!

I am a little bit familiar with iMovie b/c I'm using it for a technology class I'm taking in grad school. I am working on a project now and I'm having no luck inserting a title over a video clip. When I try to move it to the timeline, it just adds another clip with the title in a black screen. It does this even when I uncheck the "over black" option. But, when I select a video clip, the 'update' button is grey (won't let me click it). Does anyone know what to do? The preview works, just not the update button. If someone could help, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!

Welcome to the discussions.
Try this:
Place your playhead at the point you wish to have the title. Be sure the clip is selected. Command-T to split the clip at the playhead. Now drag the title onto that split clip. It should work fine. You cannot use the 'Update' button until you have placed a title on a clip. After the clip is titled, if you select the clip and want to change the title, you can use the 'Upate.'
Post back if it does not work.

Trouble with titles

I'm trying to add a title over a picture in iMovie (Picture is already in timeline viewer, using KBE). When I type the title out, and click "Preview" it will show it to me just like I want it, but when I try to drag it onto the timeline viewer it puts the title AFTER the picture and autopmatically checks the "over black" button. I've added other titles ontop of pictures, but this one isn't working...WHAT AM I MISSING????? Thanks,

Shattered theme with text over photo

How do you use the shatted theme and place text over a photo? I have to use a blank text screen. I did it before, but cant use i now.

If you can't get both titles and descriptions with the Classic theme try creating a new slideshow and give it another go"
If that fails as a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?

I would really appreciate help with two problems...
1. I have changed the title on all my pages yet the title bar
in the browser still shows untitled document!
2. I have downloaded a photo gallery from the internet and
exchanged the images for my own, works perfectly off my own
computer but as soon as I put it in as a flash file in my page and
publish, none of the images are there and it has 'undefined' on the
bottom of the gallery

A url always helps but here are some pointers
1) Make sure you are not using a frameset.
2) Check the links to the images in the flash file because it
sound like
the link is somehow different between your machine and the
server.

Trouble with sync once photos are all organized into folders on iphoto. Help!

I have imported and organized all of my pictures of off my iphone into iphoto. I then went to sync like I always do, only requesting that 2 folders (approx 900 photos) be put back on my phone. When the sync finished, it said that itunes couldnt sync 250 of the photos I asked it to. That's 1 issue. It said that itunes would tell my why it couldn't, then it didn't!
Problem #2 is this...my 2 folders of 900 photos shows up on my phone in the folders, but then all 900 photos are also in photo library. How do I keep these from showing up twice? It's taking up all of my memory with every photo being saved to my phone twice.
I've tried to find tutorials & help with Iphone & haven't had much luck. I've imported, foldered, synced, and gone about my business plenty of times before. Now i'm running out of memory & my phone is telling me it can't completely sync.

Is there an Albums section in the left hand pane? If so move the cursor to the right of the Album name till Show appears and click on it?
If there is no left hand pane where the Event and Photos icons, albums, slideshows, etc. usually sit move the cursor over the left edge of the window until it turns into a a cross like this:
then click and drag to the right to open the pane.
If you can't get that to work Try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
or with Lion and Mt. Lion from the User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/
Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
3 - launch iPhoto, reset its various preferences and try again. The left hand pane will be visible.
NOTE 1: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

Can you apply titles over Photos?

At the end of my video, I added the credits introducing the cast of the play...I created a clip of the name of the actor followed by a clip of a photo of same
But is there a way to apply the text directly on to the photo clip?

Hi Lizette - you can most certainly apply a title to a clip or still. First make sure that the 'over black' box in the Titles Pane is not ticked. Then drag the small blue 'T' to the beginning of the clip over which you want the title to appear.
Just make sure that the clip's duration is sufficiently long to accept the title's duration.
If you did not want the title to appear at the start of the clip, then split the clip before adding the title.

Im going to try and make this as easy as I can. I want to take a photo of say myself. Now I want to take a video of a mouth singing a song. I want to put the mouth over the photo. How can I do this. Kinda like a Conan type thing.

Not with any version of iMovie.
Don't think You even can do this with iMovie HD 6 and third party plug-ins.
To do this You need at least two video tracks and You need to cut away (crop) parts from
the face that does the singing.
Eventually You need to move the mouth so that it fit's and to do this You need to be
able to key-frame each picture/frame to keep position.
Medicine is. FinalCut Express (or Pro)
Sour side. Cost, a compleatly new way to work - it's really a bit to learn.
But If You can take the knowledge step/learning step the revard is enormous.

Trouble with haze in photos

When I returned from vacation recently I noticed that in almost all of my Mediterrean photos there is a haze. Objects up close are fine, but as the distances increase so does the have.See example below. I've tried Curves, Levels, Auto Tone, Auto Contrast, and Auto Color with little luck. I'd appreciate any help.

Try duplicating the layer and setting the copy layer to Multiply blend mode.
If necessary mask the foreground (where the effect isn't needed) with a layer mask.
NB: Work on a copy – don't touch your holiday originals!

Trouble with workflow: importing photos from Flickr

I seem to be having difficulty with my first attempt. I've created a workflow (as per automator.us tutorial) to import linked photos from the current web page (in this case a Flickr Groups page of which I am the Administrator) and put them in iPhoto. The workflow seems to run (I get little green checkmark-circles in the lower left of each step, and the folder I have specified is created in iPhoto), however the photos do not show up and the count is 0. What am I missing?
Also (related?), sometimes when I try to switch to Automator from the web page or from iPhoto, only the last used application will surface; Automator stays hidden and I usually have to finegle my way to grab part of the window.

Thanks for your response. I went to Flickr and examined the links. I don't know much about web pages but I understand what you mean. So, does this mean that I can't automate the downloading of these photos or is there some way I can modify the workflow to work? I'm really hoping I don't have to download 236 photos one at a time!

Having trouble with transitions between photos for project...

I tried doing what it said under Troubleshooting but it won't work. Is there a way to have a transition automatically between photos instead of manually putting them there? (kind of like iDVD). I did it individually but then it wouldn't work or the transition time between is too short.

If you don't have a mouse with a right click, just use the drop down menu. File/Project Properties.
If you have a laptop, I am sure there is a key sequence that simulates a right click. I don't have a laptop, so I don't know what it is. If you have an apple mighty mouse, you can set up right-clicking in the system preferences / keyboard and mouse menu.
Open project space is the gray space behind the clips. It may be a different color if you have added music.
