Trouble with vista installing my

i have a zen 6gb and windows vista won,t install the driver . When i put the disc in which came with the player to install I go through all the disc like it says to be told at the end windows could not find the driver my computer is a acer 32 bit'swith vista premium new and also my mp3 is new so what is the problem
can anyone help i,m getting rather fed up of goin round in circles

If you haven't already, try running the installer as an Administrator user for the computer. If you aren't familiar with that topic then enter "Run as Administrator" as the subject the built-in Windows Help system. It should tell you. I don't have a Vista computer around me at the moment to give precise instructions.

Regarding a WRT54G: Firmware and trouble with Vista

First of all, this is my first post here on this board so please don't have me assassinated if I skipped some board rules/policy. I'm trying to find a solution to my problem a.s.a.p.
My first question is: what's up with the firmware versions and my router's modelname? When I bought the router I got it in a box saying WRT54G (v1.1) with firmware version 4.30.7. As a first step getting the problem described below solved, I downloaded the latest Linksys firmware for a WRT54G v1.1 from this website. After the firmware update my router now seems to be known as a WRT54GL and next to that my firmware version number didn't increase, it deacreased to 4.21.1. I don't know about you guys but this doesn't seem logical to me. Any explanations? Also the firmware's date seems to be somewhere back in 2006, isn't this a bit outdated for 'latest' software?
Now onto the next subject: the fact that my Acer notebook keeps losing the wireless signal since Vista. The wireless connection between the router and my notebook has always worked very fast and flawlessly when I ran XP SP2. However, as soon as I install Vista, something odd happens. With the same drivers for my wireless chipset (they're for both XP and Vista) either my notebook keeps losing the wireless signal or the router has trouble providing my Vista notebook with a steady signal. For 30 to 45 minutes I seem to have a steady signal with 5 blocks filled on Windows' signal'O'meter and then suddenly I get disconnected from my router for like 10 seconds to 1 minute. At first it says my connection turned from "local and internet" to "local only" and after a few seconds the entire signal is dead and the wireless tray icon gets covered by that little yellow triangle. Without interfering it'll take up to a minute at most and the connection will be back as it was before. However, this minute is just enough to mess up skype sessions, downloads, streams, you name it. To be honest, I haven't got the faintest idea what might cause this. Does anyone of you have?
N.b.
- I think I've noticed the issue occuring more frequent during high bandwidth usage like downloading with 2.5 to 3 MB/s but I'm not very sure about that.
- My notebook hasn't moved an inch over the past years and there are no other devices added in my house that might interfere with the signal.
- I've tried all the eleven channels.
- I've set up a dualboot system on my notebook with XP SP2 and guess what, problem is gone when I use XP SP2 again.
- I'm using an Atheros AR500G wireless adapter.
- I'm only using Acer's drivers for the wireless adapter, not their useless resources consuming utility that "manages my wireless settings". Which seem to be Acer's words for slowing sh1t down a lot!
- I'm using exactly the same internet security software with Vista as with XP SP2. Turning this software off won't help in any way.

I've already resetted and reconfigured the router several times, doesn't help. Also tried all the 11 channels.
And yes, I am able to go online but the problem described in my first post still exists. I don't see why switching channels would solve it anyway since it's clearly a problem caused by the router in combination with Vista, it's not signal strength related. But like I said, I tried all the channels anyway.
Is it possible for a Linksys employee to take a look at this topic? Are there some known issues with a WRT54G and Vista and/or an Atheros AR5005G chipset? Is my hardware and software supported by the WRT54G at all?

Trouble with Vista and Bluetooth

I'm having an issue with Vista SP2 and Bluetooth. I have Vista Home Premium SP2 running under Boot Camp on a MacBook Pro, and I have an Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse and Apple Wireless Keyboard I need to pair with Windows. I followed the instructions listed in the Boot Camp manual, but Vista won't let me create my own passkey, it just "pairs" the devices for me. When I close the window, the devices do not show up, nor do they function. I called AppleCare support, and have talked with all of who could help me, and they have determined this is an issue with Windows and that I need help from Microsoft. They said I have to enter my own passkey to get it to work, and they do not know why I can't. They're thinking it has something to do with a Windows Update.
Just wondering what can I do to get these paired up and working. I really need these to work since my MacBook Pro is on a notebook riser and it's awkward to raise up and type and click in such an uncomfortable position.

I cannot get the apple wireless keyboard to work with my Mac Pro (Feb-2008 model) under bootcamp and Vista Home Premium 64. I had to upgrade from 10.5.1 in order to use Final Cut Studio 3, so I downloaded and installed OSX 10.5.8 update. Then I ran bootcamp and installed Vista 64. Afterwards, in Vista I inserted the original OSX 10.5.1 DVD and installed the drivers so Vista would recognize the apple hardware.
I went to pair the wireless mighty mouse and apple keyboard and the instructions say to enter 0000 for the mouse, and enter an 8 digit or larger number for the keyboard. Since the keyboard doesn't work, I couldn't enter anything so I let the system choose a number for the keyboard and let the mouse go without a number. Both show they are connected but only the mouse works. I also tried letting the system generate a number for both but only the mouse works. I tried turning off the mouse but then the system doesn't detect the keyboard at all. For that matter, I don't even like the mighty mouse anyway and prefer to use the mouse with my Wacom tablet so I could do without the mighty mouse if that would somehow help.
Is there a known issue with 10.5.8 and bluetooth under windows vista 64? What should I do? I must have Vista 64 in order to utilize 3ds Max 2010 and I must have a keyboard to use 3ds Max. Is there a driver I can download to make it work or do I need to buy a generic USB keyboard?

I have been scouring the forums gathering all sorts of do's and don'ts, but still would like some advice.
I have an iMac (early 2006) w/ 1.5GB ram running Tiger 10.4.11 (never downloaded beta BC) and a MacBook 2.16GHz w/ 1GB ram running Leopard 10.5.2. I recently bought Vista Home Premium OEM - my options are VMFusion on iMac or Bootcamp on laptop? I am a little hesitant because of the OEM version, which I did not pay attention to when I bought it at a computer show. It is 32-bit, thank god. I know the ram is weak on the MacBook but planning to upgrade to 2 soon. My main reason for Windows is for a few programs, no gaming. I wish I would of payed more attention to the fact it was OEM, now if one install goes to the toilet and need to reinstall on another computer..I will be on the phone w/ Microsoft till I am 90!

I took the plunge and used Bootcamp on my MB because Intuit does not support their products using VM's and the primary reason I wanted Windows was for Quicken 2008. The installation went flawlessly and I am up and running with Vista and no phone calls to India..pheww!

Trouble with vista

i just got a new lapper with vista on it and im having problems syncing my ipod.
i installed the latest version of itunes on the notebook and updated itunes on my pod as well but i still cant accsess the music on the pod. i can bring it up but its greyed out and im unable to transfer it to my library in itunes.
dying to get my music on my lapper any ideas on a work around for this or am i just missing something simple ?

That's because it's set to update automatically, you can only access the songs on an iPod directly through iTunes if it's set to manual update:

Trouble with Leopard install...

I am trying to install leopard on my macbook pro and it showed an icon of my HD with a yellow exclamation point, saying I needed to change my install options. The only two options were Journaled or case-sensitive Journaled. (both needing to erase my HD.) I selected Journaled and clicked install. The DVD ran a check and then said that it could not be installed, with this error message:
"Installer could not create the folder "/Volumes/MacintoshHD/BaseSystem.pkg.1432Vz5v8"
I clicked on restart to try again. It is currently checking the DVD again. If it fails, what should I do?

If there's nothing on your hard drive that you want to preserve, I suggest erasing using the disk utility on the installation DVD. You can access this utility from the "utilities" menu, and use the Disk Utility to verify the disk before you proceed with the install. I suggest doing a full "write to zeros", which will take a little while but will be one additional way to ensure that the disk is functioning correctly.

Trouble with Maverick install

Trouble downloading and installing Maverick on Mac Pro. Computer is from 2007 and running snow leopard Mac OS X (10.6.8)- seems ot have plenty of available space and memory...

There are ways to get Mountain Lion or Mavericks onto a 2006 or 2007 Mac Pro. Some are discussed at xlr8yourmac.com.
Do you have a specific need for Mavericks? I am running it wirh caution on only one drive, until the various bugs are addressed. Still using Snow Leopard for everything that matters.
If you are worried about the lack of security updates for Safari 5, just use something else. Current versions of Firefox or Chrome work in Snow Leopard.

Do not remember the version I had of adobe reader then it stopped working. I have download several times the new adobe reader. it gets to about 92% downloaded and then freezes up. What cn I do? Thanks

Problems with Vista installing driver for

Just bought the 6 G ZEN and have installed the supplied software for the device and when I connect the device to the PC Vista starts to Install Driver Software. I then get an error message 'Device driver was not installed successfully, please consult manufacturer for assistance getting this device installed.'
I also tried downloading the updated software from?the Creative website?and installing this on my PC, however I get the same error message.
When I go in to the control panel and to the device manager, there are two new portable devices with errors:
. Creative ZEN, with error message: 'Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 9)'
2. Unknown device, with error message: 'This device is not configured correctly. (Code )'
Hope somebody can help me out with this. (I tried to send this message to support by completing the online email form, however upon submitting the form (URL: http://dmzrespapp.europe.creative.com/kana/FRH) I get a screen saying Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage)

i'm afraid the issue could be due to the pc as the nati've driver on the vista computer might be corrupted.
but to confirm that, you can access to recovery mode to do clean up to have a try.
also you can still upgrade the latest firmware on the xp computer to see the results.

Browser troubles with newly installed Tiger

Since installing 10.4.6, I'm having trouble getting to most websites with any of the browsers on my machine. This includes Safari, Camino, and even Internet Explorer 5.2. The problem is not consistent, as I will get an error message several times, and then get through (sometimes). An example of the error mesages:
Google Error
Not Found
The requested URL /exchange/ was not found on this server.
My ISP (Earthlink) suggested I delete all cookies containing earthlink.net, which did not solve the problem. I tried deleting all cookies, which still did not solve the problem. I don't know if it's a compatibility problem between the browsers and the OS, between Earthlink and the OS, or what. Help!

Intermittent sounds like Hardware, but try trashing the "/Users/nnnn/Library/Preferences/com.apple.internetconnect.plist" for a start.

Big trouble with re-install

I have re-installed PSE3 three times now. When the welcome sign comes up and asks, I choose to "always start with the organizer". It loads, up come my pictures just as before, but when I try to put one in the editor I receive the message:
"Unable to connect to editor application"
Anyone know what's happening here? Barbara? Please?
On my next re-install, I thought I'd choose to "start with the editor" and see what happens, but that won't be ideal for my way of working, so I thought I'd get this message up now.

Jack, when you reinstall are you getting rid of the old preferences before reinstalling? You should. If your problem is really from bad prefs (most likely), you can reinstall all day long without fixing anything.
Also, are you giving it time? I often get that warning the first time after a reinstall, but it really does launch the editor, although it may open minimized.

Trouble with new install od Desktop Manager 4.2

I'm new to Forums but I can't seem to fine help anywhere else! I have had a Blackberry 8100 for a while. All worked well with my old Pentium 4. I have moved ovet to an i7 processor and Windows 7. I have read a few messages on here and have corrected the USB power problem. I have downloaded and installed Drivers DM4.5_B13 and now the connection is seen by DM. I have a problem now that some of the program is in English and some is in another language! I'm guessing it's Arabic or similar. Things like Microsoft Outlook Takvim and in the fields section one side says Title and the other says Unvan or Address on one is Eposta Adres.
Can anyone help me?

If you were successfully able to install BlackBerry Desktop Manager 4.2, I would go through the clean reload process as shown here:
http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB11320
This will make sure any old files are removed from your computer before installing the new one.

Trouble with new install n-gage

Hi, I recently did a soft reset (*#7370), and i lost n-gage. Now i can't install n-gage on my phone n96. I get answer "update error" i don't know what to do please help.

That’s most odd as it is not an upgrade but a fresh installation.The only thing i can think of is you have some of N Gage installed and it is viewing the new installation as an upgrade as it has a different version number. I would have a look if it is listed in your application manager list... You could try asking the N Gage support site http://www.n-gage.com/ngi/ngage/web/uk/en/support.html
